There are as many different types of hair as there is types of skin. Your hair will either be normal, dry, oily, fine or damaged. Just like your skin, your hair can also fit into the combination category with oily scalp and dry ends.
Hair care and styling products come in varieties for all types of hair and when possible, choose the ones that are for your specific hair. However, there are some things that you can do to make your hair look healthier and be more manageable.
Few people are lucky enough to have normal hair and if you do, you’re blessed. A weekly warm oil massage will do wonders for normal hair. And, for deep conditioning mix two egg yolks with warm water, cover hair with a vinyl shower cap and leave it on for about ten minutes.
Taking care of oily hair requires a little more work. Wash it daily and use clarifying products to help in removing the excess oil from your hair. Try to not brush your hair to frequently, it will actually stimulate oil production.
When you shampoo, rinse your hair with lukewarm or cool water instead of hot water. If your hair is extra oily, occasionally use one cup of vinegar with four cups of water or diluted lemon juice as a rinse. If you don’t really need a conditioner don’t use one, many will just make your hair oily.
The care for combination hair is similar to that for oily hair. But, the dry ends of your hair need extra attention. Don’t apply shampoo directly to the tips, use lather from the top of your hair. Instead of using conditioner all over your hair, just apply it to the ends.
When you feel the need for a deep conditioning treatment for your ends, use a warm oil treatment. Apply the warm oil to the ends and wrap it in a towel for a couple of hours before washing. You can also use warm olive oil and it won’t have any added ingredients.
If your hair is fine, go with any type of hair care product that says volumizing! Volumizing products coat your hair and make it appear fuller and thicker. And, if you have a lot of problems with static, lightly spray your brush with hairspray!
Dry and damaged hair basically needs the same care, lots of conditioning treatments! Use gentle products to avoid drying your hair out even more and try a leave-in conditioner to make your hair more manageable. Warm olive oil treatments are a great natural option.
Either your hair is naturally dry, dry from abuse or is damaged from chemicals such as coloring and perms. It’s just a fact, if your hair is severely damaged no amount of deep conditioning is going to bring it back to life. Maybe it’s time to try that new short hairstyle you’ve been admiring!
