Sat. Jan. 1
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Dean's, Ruth & the boys were here for an oyster supper. Arthur had the flu & couldn't come. Tommy had bit his tongue just before he came so he couldn't eat & didn't play much. Something else wrong with him. Curtis Marlow's house burned too the ground, burning everything about 9:30 in the eve. They were not at home.

Sun. Jan. 2
Rather a dark day. Not cold. Ruth called early in A.M. for Mon too come down & help with the chores. I went too church in A.M. Arthur was better tonite, but Tommy was not very well.

Mon. Jan. 3
Not very nice early in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day. Dean's took Tommy too the Dr. at Mabel in A.M. & stopped here for dinner on their way home. He sure looks bad & fussed & cried most of the time they were here so they didn't stay long. I called late in P.M. & he had slept all P.M. Infection of the throat Dr. said. We went too Lodge in eve. Installation. Ida H. D.A.P. & I was Marshal. Dorothea R. N.G. Wilma B. V.G. Ida H. Sec & myself Treas. Not many out. Had a lunch afterward.

Tues. Jan. 4
Not very nice day. Dark & damp. Misty most of the day & very foggy at nite. I washed but hung the clothes up stairs. We went down too Dean's awhile in P.M. Tommy is quite a little better but he doesn't look very good. Had a lunch down there. Stopped at Arthur's a few minutes on our way home. I went up too Rev. Arnolds in eve too a meeting. Rode home with Paul's.

Wed. Jan. 5
Quite a nice day. Warmer in A.M. but got much cooler late in P.M. & the wind came up. Blew quite a little in eve & nite. Tommy is much better today. We went down too the hall in eve too a party & shower for Curtis Marlow's. They got so many things besides money. There was quite a large crowd out. (Just upstairs). Played cards & bingo. Everyone brought lunch & we had a good lunch. Cold nite.

Thurs. Jan. 6
10º above. Dandy nice day. Warmed up during the day some. Ruth bro't Bill up after dinner while she went too Bazaar Boosters at Marilyn Q's. Dean sold some hogs in P.M. & he was here for awhile. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went down town too. Some of us Rebekah's practiced after Lodge for Installation tomorrow nite at Decorah. Cool nite.

Fri. Jan. 7
10º this morn. Not too bad a day. We went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed. Dean & Tommy were here a few minutes in P.M. & then they went too Decorah. We went too Decorah in eve with Leon & Nellie M. too Rebekah Lodge. Gladys went too. 14 down from B.O. We installed their officers. Had a good time & a swell lunch. Arthur's went too La Crosse about 2:30 this A.M. too get Mrs. K. as she came back from Florida. Had a letter from Isa. Charlie Wernett died today at Cresco.

Sat. Jan. 8
Nice day only the sun didn't shine. Looked like snow but didn't snow until in the nite we got a few skiffs. We went down too Dean's for dinner & then Mon helped Dean grind feed afterward.

Sun. Jan. 9
Cloudy & dark in A.M. & chilly but it cleared off in P.M. & was very nice. Went too church in A.M. We went too Harmony in eve too the Show "Susan Slept Here". It was funny & good.

Not very nice day. Dark & dreary. Spit snow off & on all day & eve but not much fell. Worked at Income papers. Went up too the parsonage in eve with Paul's too a meeting too see about fixing the inside of the church. Charlie Wernett was buried at Cresco this P.M.

Tues. Jan. 11
Rather a dark, damp day. Not too cold. Didn't do too much. Snowed some in eve but not much.

Wed. Jan. 12
Windy chilly day. Sun shone some. Dean's bro't Tommy up in A.M. & left him while they went too Decorah to a meeting. I went too W.S.C.S. at Anita's in P.M. Quite a few out. Had a nice lunch. Dean's came after Tommy about 3:30 before I got home. Cold nite.

Thurs. Jan. 13
About zero this morn. Quite a nice day. Warmed up quite a little. I washed clothes but they didn't get dry enough too iron. Mon went too Lodge in eve. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up & left them all nite & they went too a Benefit Dance for Curtis Marlow's at Breezy Hill. Cool nite.

Fri. Jan. 14
Not too nice a day again. Not so cold but quite a strong south wind & it was chilly. Dean came up & got the kiddies in time for Linda too go to school. We went down there in P.M. & got some eggs. Had a letter from Isa.

Sat. Jan. 15
Nice day but cool. We had a lunch & went too Decorah about 11:30. Lester & Isa came about 7:30 P.M. Lester & Mon went down town awhile & Isa & I went over too Claude's.

Sun. Jan. 16
Nice day but cool. Claudes & Leonard were over for dinner. Lester & Isa went home right after dinner & Claude's stayed until after 4. Cold nite.

Mon. Jan. 17
1º above zero. Quite a nice day but cold. I washed & waxed floors. We went too Lodge in eve. Not too many out. Had a nice lunch. We rode down & back with Howard R's.

Tues. Jan. 18
Not very nice day. Dark & cold. The Bible Study class met here in P.M. 9 here.

Wed. Jan. 19
Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed.

Thurs. Jan. 20
Not too bad a day. Clouded up in P.M. & started too snow about supper time. Snowed quite a little in eve & later on in the nite. Mon went too Decorah early in A.M. too get his drivers license renewed. I rode up too the church, about 10:30, with Howard's too the monthly dinner. Fern, Inez, Joyce, Charlene, Aleda K. served. Good sized crowd out & a very good dinner. Went down too the hall in eve. The I.O.O.F. had Installation with men up from Decorah too do the installing. Some of us ladies fixed a lunch for them.

Not very nice day. Blustery & windy. Mon doesn't feel very well. He went down to Arthur's in A.M. & helped him sort some hogs too sell. Dance tonight but we didn't go. Mon didn't feel like it.

Sat. Jan. 22
Nice bright day but windy & quite chilly. Mon doesn't feel any better. Dean's were here awhile in P.M. & Linda stayed. They brought Tommy up & left him in eve so the kiddies stayed all nite. Dean's went too Clyde's to a card party. Cold nite & the snow was drifting.

10º below this morn. Nice day but cool. I went too church in A.M. We were alone all day & nite.

Zero. Rather cloudy early in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day but cool. Arthur's bro't Bill up here about 10:45 & left him while they went too Decorah. They came back after him about 2:30 & stopped awhile. They bro't Mon a steel tape for his birthday & me a silver knife too match our set.

Tues. Jan. 25
2º above zero. Quite a nice day. Sun didn't shine so much in A.M. but did in P.M. Dean was here awhile in A.M. Mon took me down too Margaret Ward's in P.M. too Bible Study. I rode back with Zoa. Cold nite.

Wed. Jan. 26
About 10º this morn. Snowed in A.M. & the wind blew & then it got too be a regular blizzard. Got much colder in P.M. Very cold nite.

Thurs. Jan. 27
32º below this morning. Nice & bright day but cold. Warmed up too about zero. Dana Price was here at noon & I ordered some ceiling paper for the sitting & bed room. Dean was here awhile just after dinner. He sold 67 hogs they weighed 14025 lbs. @ $17.25 & bro't $2419.31. It snowed some late in P.M. & eve. Cold nite again but not as cold as last nite. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. Jan. 28
18º below this morn. Cold day but nice & bright. We went too Decorah in A.M. Got my hair fixed & Mon got a hair cut. We got home about 1. I went too Club at Alice Wilbur's in P.M. with Fish Ward's. Quite a few out. Had a swell lunch. Cold nite.

12º. Nice bright day. Didn't do much. I went down town in eve with Howard's. Fern, Mable Hovden & I fixed out the menu for the Sale coming up. Had a letter from Isa. Cold nite.

10º below. Nice bright day. I went too church in A.M.

Mon. Jan. 31
10º above. Rather chilly early in A.M. but warmed up into the 30's during the day. South wind. I washed. We went down too Dean's in P.M. & got some eggs. Stopped at Arthur's on our way home. Danny didn't feel very well. I ironed in eve.

Tues. Feb. 1
5º above. Not such a nice day & not too bad either. Made doughnuts in P.M. & took Aunt Alice some. Another Sale at the hall tonite & we Rebekah's served lunch again. Very large crowd at the sale & we sold most all of our food. I rode home with Howard's. Got home about 1.

Wed. Feb. 2
Nice day. Dean sold some more hogs this A.M. & he got back here just as we were eating dinner so he ate with us. 8 weighed 1670 @ 16.90 per cwt. & bro't $282.23. We went down too Arthur's in P.M. but no one was at home.

Thurs. Feb. 3
Quite a nice day. Dean's bro't Tommy up about 10 A.M. & left him while they & Wallace's went too La Crosse. We had a lot of fun. They got back about 3:30. Mon went too Lodge in eve. Got a birthday card from Isa with a pretty handkerchief in it.

Fri. Feb. 4
Not too nice in A.M. Looked stormy & it did start too snow about 3 P.M. & the wind blew so it was quite a blizzard the rest of the P.M. & on into the nite. Didn't snow too much, but what there was did keep moving. We went too Decorah about 10. We both stopped at the Clinic. Mon had a check up on his blood pressure & I had quite an examination. Have been having such a back ache. Had a heat treatment. Went on over town for a while. Got home about 1. Dance at the hall in eve but we didn't go.

Sat. Feb. 5
Rather blustery early in A.M. but cleared off & was quite a nice day. Wind blew some & blew snow most of the day. We went too Decorah about 9:30. I went too the Clinic & had another heat treatment, then walked over town. We got home about 11:45. Mon went too Mabel in P.M. & had a couple of teeth pulled. Went over too Olive's awhile in P.M. Got a gift from Gloriann for my birthday & card. It was a set for melted butter & syrup & tray.

2º below. Nice bright day. Warmed up. I went too church in A.M. Cold nite.

Mon. Feb. 7
10º below. Dandy nice day. Warmed up quite a little. We went too Decorah about 10 A.M. & I went too the Clinic & had a heat treatment. Walked over town then & we came on home. I went too Lodge in eve. Had a nice lunch. Rode home with Claude's. Got some pretty birthday cards & 2 pretty handkerchiefs.

Tues. Feb. 8
My 63rd Birthday. Dandy nice day. I washed in A.M. Mon took me too Gloria Whitney's in P.M. too Bible Study & I rode home with Lucy S. Quite a few out. Had a nice lunch. I ironed after supper. Arthur's & Dean's were up & spent the eve. It rained while they were here & the pavement was plenty slippery when they went home. The kiddies had lots of fun. Dean's bro't me a nice rubber mat too stand on. Mon gave me a box of candy.

Wed. Feb. 9
Rather a dark day. Not very cold. Wind came up in P.M. & got around into the north about 3:30 & started too snow. Snowed quite hard for a while & then let up some. Blizzardy in eve. Wind blew all nite. Ice thawed off the pavement in A.M. We went too Decorah about 11:15. I went too the Clinic & had a heat treatment. We were home about 12:15. I went too W.S.C.S. at Fern's in P.M. with Harlan W's. Quite a few out & we had a good lunch.

12º below. Cold, windy & blustery day. Got much colder in P.M. Sun shone all day but it didn't get above 10º below all day. I went too Locust in P.M. with Dean's. May C. went along too. Their Aide. Ida Halse, Lily Foltz, Mrs. Groth & Mrs. Kenneth Grindeland served. Quite a large crowd for the cold day. Had a very good lunch. Dorothy Emmons was here a few minutes after I got home. Cold nite. Mon didn't go too Lodge.

28º below this morn. Cold day. Wind didn't blow quite as hard today. Didn't warm up too much. Didn't do much except try too keep the house warm. Cold nite.

Sat. Feb. 12
20º below. Nice bright day. Cold but it did warm up to a little above zero. Olive was over awhile in P.M. Had a letter from Isa & she sent along a letter she had gotten from Papa's brother Chris who lives in Canada. Quite interesting. Not quite as cold tonite. Wind got around into the south in the nite.

Sun. Feb. 13
10º below. Rather cloudy at times & still the sun shone quite a little too. Warmed up quite a little but still the wind was chilly. Went too church in A.M. They are fixing the church so it was rather torn up but not too bad.

10º below. Warmed up a lot during the day. Sun shone & it was a nice day. Thawed some. I washed in A.M. We went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed. I ironed after supper.

Tues. Feb. 15
Rather frosty most of A.M. but did clear off later. Sun shone part of the day. Much warmer & thawed quite a little. I went too Bible Study at Violets in P.M. with Florence. Not too many out. Had a fancy lunch. Mon went down too Dean's in P.M. & helped him grind feed. He went down town in eve.

Wed. Feb. 16
Quite a nice day. Cloudy part of the time but it thawed quite a little too. Mon & Dean & Tommy went too Spring Grove in P.M. & Mon bought a power saw ($205.00). He went down too Dean's after they got home & tried out the saw.

Thurs. Feb. 17
Quite a nice day. Thawed quite a little. Mon took me up too the church about 9:45. We had our annual oyster dinner today. Elsie, Miriam & I cooked oysters. Had a pretty good sized crowd. Had 3 gal. of oysters. We served escalloped potatoes, jello, vegetable salad, rolls, pickles, apple & cherry pie & coffee.

Fri. Feb. 18
Not very nice day, but not cold. Dark & dreary. Started raining in P.M., not hard, but in eve early it did rain hard. We went down too Dean's in A.M. for some eggs. Stopped at Arthur's a few minutes on our way home. Went to the dance at the hall in eve. Quite a few out & they seemed to have a good time. Dewey played.

Sat. Feb. 19
Damp, dark, foggy day. Misty most of the day & night. We went too Decorah about 11 but were not down there long. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up in eve & left them all nite. They went too a card party at Earl Knoke's. We had fun.

Sun. Feb. 20
Cold terribly windy day. Wind from the south. It wasn't so cold by the thermometer, about 32º, but it got colder later in P.M. & was quite blustery at times. Didn't snow very much though. Dean & Iona came up for dinner. We went down too Harry Quandahl's in eve. Claude's went with us. Arthur's & Dean's were there too. We took lunch. The men played cards & we women visited & the kids had a big time. Harry's are moving up north of Mabel this coming week. Little daughter born to Marion & Gloriaan this eve about 6. Janet Lynn. 7 lbs. [blank] oz. Cold, windy nite.

8º above. Bright day but quite windy again. Didn't warm up too much. We went too Lodge in eve. Not too many out. Had a good lunch.

Tues. Feb. 22
About zero. Quite a nice day. Warmed up some. I washed & ironed. We went up too Walt & Wilma's in eve too watch T.V. A bunch from Spring Grove were in Rochester dancing. Had good programs. We had a nice lunch too. Cold nite. Dean & Tommy were here a few minutes in P.M.

Not too bad a day. Mon went down too Dean's a few minutes in A.M. Had a letter from Isa. Snowed some in the nite.

Thurs. Feb. 24
10º above. Not too bad a day but it got colder in P.M. & the wind blew quite hard late in P.M. & eve. Arthur's bro't Bill up about 10:30 & left him while they went too Decorah. Arthur came after him about 4:30. Mon didn't go too Lodge in eve.

Fri. Feb. 25
Quite warm by the thermometer but the wind blew quite strong from the south & was chilly. Mon went too Spring Grove in P.M. I went too Club at the church basement in P.M. Valeda W. entertained. Not too many out. We had such a good lunch. The church looks so nice. The men are nearly done. Gilbert Torgeson died tonite.

Sat. Feb. 26
Not too nice a day & not too bad either. Lizzie came down about 11:30 & went too Decorah with us. I got my hair cut & washed.

Sun. Feb. 27
Linda's 8th Birthday. Not too nice a day. Not too cold but rather damp all day. Looked like rain or snow but we didn't get either. I went too church in A.M. We went down too Dean's in P.M. Arthur's were there too for Linda's birthday. The kids had lots of fun. We had such a good lunch, or supper, you might call it. I went too M.E. church in eve with Howard's. First in a series of Lenten services. Rev. Buker talked. Very good talk. It rained some in the nite I guess.

Mon. Feb. 28
Not too nice a day. Dark & damp. Pavement & ground was quite slippery in A.M. but it got warm enough about noon that the pavement got quite sloppy. It rained some late in P.M. & eve.

Tues. Mar. 1
Beautiful day. Thawed a lot. I went to Bible Study in P.M. at Muriel T's. with Rev. Arnolds. 10 there. Had such a good lunch. Another Sale at the hall this eve & the Rebekah's served lunch. I went down there about 6:15. Very large crowd at the Sale. The wind switched around to the north in eve, blew quite hard & got much colder. I rode home with Howard's. Got home about 12:30. Rebekahs did pretty good.

Wed. Mar. 2
Nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon went down too Arthur's in P.M. & sawed down some trees. Aunt Maude died this A.M. Arthur's bro't the boys up in eve & left them while they went over to Elmer Butlers. The ladies planned their next monthly W.S.C.S. dinner. Marion, Gloriaan, & Janet Lynn came up to Claude's in eve & I went over there a few minutes too see the young lady. She is sure nice & a very good baby.

Thurs. Mar. 3
Beautiful day. Very warm. Thawed a lot. Creek was bank full. Mon took me down too Dorothea R's in A.M. too see about her singing for Aunt Maude's funeral. He went down too Arthur's in P.M. working at the wood. We went down too Dean's late in P.M. after eggs. Mon went too Lodge in eve.

Fri. Mar. 4
Rather a damp day. Chilly. Sun didn't shine any. I went up too the Lutheran church in P.M. too their Aide meeting. Maude J., Bessie J., Marie J., Eda S. served. Quite a few out & they sure had a good lunch. Went too choir practice at the church in eve with Florence. Dance at the hall but we didn't go.

Sat. Mar. 5
Quite blustery early in A.M. but the sun came out later & it quit snowing. Quite a little colder & the wind blew quite hard all day. Florence came up & got Olive, Lillian & I about 1 & we went up too Zoa's too practice a little. Went on over too the church to Aunt Maude's funeral. Marilyn, Lillian, Florence & I sang. "In the Garden" & "Rock of Ages". Joyce played. Quite a few out to the funeral. Very pretty flowers. Mon took Leonard Blaess too Decorah late in P.M. for repairs.

Sun. Mar. 6
Blustery early in A.M. but it let up some in A.M. & then the wind got around into the north in P.M. & it blew hard & was quite blizzardy at times. Sun shone part of the time too. I went too church in A.M. Large crowd out. Went too A.C. church in eve with Alberts. Only 15 out Rev I. Arnold talked. Cold nite.

15º below. Bright day but windy & chilly. Did warm up some though. Wind went down at nite & it got warmer. Mon went down too the hall right after dinner & started fires. I went down about 2:15 & washed the dishes that were used at the dance last Fri. night. Swept the floors & dusted. We went too Lodge in eve. Not too many out. Had a good lunch afterward. Snowed about 3 inches in the nite.

Tues. Mar. 8
Dandy nice day. Thawed a lot. All our new snow went & a lot of what we had, had. The creek was up. I washed in A.M. We went too Decorah in P.M. Stopped at the Clinic on our way home. I had a liver shot.

Wed. Mar. 9
Dandy nice day. Mon went down too Arthur's in P.M. too work at the wood. I went too Elsie's too W.S.C.S. meeting. Quite a few out & we had a good lunch. Went too choir practice at the church in eve with Florence.

Quite a nice day. Thawed a lot. Most of our snow gone. Mon was at Arthur's in P.M. Had a letter from Isa.

Nice day. We went too Decorah awhile in A.M. Mon went too Arthur's in P.M.

Rather a dark day. Sun didn't shine all the time. I went too church in A.M. Arthur's were here for dinner. Went too church in eve with Alberts. At M.E. church tonite with Rev. Buker as preacher. 20 out.

Dark day. Rained quite hard for awhile in A.M. Mon worked at the wood at Arthurs until it rained. We went down too Dean's just after dinner after some eggs & Linda & Tommy came home with us. School Election so no school. The folks came up after them about 3:30. We had a lunch before they went home.

Tues. Mar. 15
Quite a nice day but windy. Some cooler. Mon was at Arthur's in P.M. The R.E.A. men cut down the big maple tree in Claude's back yard in P.M. & they drove down through our yard & pasture too get over there & then back up through again & they sure tore up the yard & pasture. Lizzie was here awhile in P.M. I went up too Fern's in eve with Gladys too a Stanley Party. 28 there. Had a good time & a swell lunch. Mon went down town in eve. Played at a euchre party at Lynn[ferd's?]. Cool nite. They butchered a hog & beef at Dean's today & Mon bro't some liver etc. home with him.

Wed. Mar. 16
12º above. Cold windy day. Wind blew hard from the north & it was cold. Mon went too Decorah about 7:45 this morning. Took the car down too be fixed. He came home with Dean's about noon. They had taken the meat too Decorah for us. I was over at Olive's awhile in P.M. Dorothea R. was giving her a permanent.

Thurs. Mar. 17
Quite nice in A.M. but clouded up after dinner & snowed during the P.M. Snowed enough too cover the ground. Mon went too Decorah in P.M. with Dean too get the car but it wasn't ready. Dean bro't the lard up. Arthur & Ruth came up after me about 10 A.M. & I went up too the church with them. Ruth, Anita, Luella, Iona & Margaret W. entertained at the monthly dinner. Not too big a crowd out. They had a very good dinner. I tried out lard after I got home. Got 13 qts. Mon went too Lodge in eve.

Fri. Mar. 18
Dandy nice day. I washed in A.M. We went too Decorah with Arthur's a little after 12. Our car was ready so we drove it home. Stopped at the Clinic & I got a "liver shot" on the way home. Ironed after I got home. Went too the dance in eve. Not too big a crowd out. Dewey's played.

Sat. Mar. 19
Ruth's Birthday. Not too bad a day although it did rain a little after dinner. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. & again in P.M. Working at the wood.

Sun. Mar. 20
Rather a dark day with quite a strong north wind. Started too snow about 5:15 & it sure did snow. Snowed on into the nite. A lot of snow fell & it was so moist. I went too church in A.M.

Dark dreary day. Not so cold in A.M. but got colder in P.M. so the snow froze on the pavement & made it slippery. Got quite a bad blizzard late in P.M. & eve & on through the nite. Wind blew harder at nite. We went too Lodge in eve. Not many out. We were too have had a party for the I.O.O.F. but it was such a bad nite they didn't come. Had a good lunch any way. We rode home with Howard's & it was sure tough when we came home. Drifting a lot on the pavement then.

Tues. Mar. 22
Not so nice in A.M. Rather blizzardy but was nice in P.M. Somewhat cooler. But still it thawed a little in sheltered places. Cool nite. Had a letter from Isa.

Wed. Mar. 23
10. Quite a nice day except for a little while just after noon when it snowed quite hard for a little while. Cleared off again after that. Warmer. Thawed quite a little. I washed & ironed. Went too choir practice at the church in eve with Florence. Cold nite.

Thurs. Mar. 24
10. Quite a nice day but the wind blew quite hard & it was chilly all day. Warmed up a little at nite & snowed a little but got colder in the nite. Dean was here a minute just before dinner. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went too Nellie Marlow's. She, Audrey L & I were on the Rebekah Comm. too plan the lunch for the next Sale.

Fri. Mar. 25
Nice bright day but cold & windy. I went too Club at Alberta Arneson's at Decorah in P.M. with Florence. Quite a few out & we had a good lunch. Cold nite.

Sat. Mar. 26
8º below. Nice bright day but cold. We went down & got Arthur a little after 10 & got Arthur & went too Decorah. Ruth & the boys had gone earlier. I got a "shot". We stopped at Krumms on our way home (About 11:30) & Arthurs & the boys came with us. We took Arthur home & the boys came home with us & stayed until Ruth came about 5. About zero. Quite a nice day. Thawed quite a little. I went too church in A.M. We went down too Arthur's awhile in P.M. Went too Mabel in eve too the Show "Phffft". It was sure funny. Cold nite.

8º below. Warmed up during the day. Was quite a nice day. I fussed with chickens all day. Fried & baked 4 of them in P.M. Mon took up up too the church about 5:30. We served dinner too the Rotary Club of Decorah & their guests who were men from this M.E. church affiliation. There were about 67 or 68 men served a little after 7. They had a big time during their meal. Quite a few women out helping. Had a nice dinner (Mon wouldn't go). I rode home with Howards. Got home a little after 10. We got $81.99 for serving the dinner. Cool nite. The past few days have been the coldest on record for this time of year.

Tues. Mar. 29
Nice day. I washed & ironed. It thawed quite a little. Mon went too Spring Grove in A.M. awhile. Claude took Olive too Rochester this P.M. & left her there for another operation tomorrow.

Wed. Mar. 30
Arthur's 38th Birthday. Dandy nice day. Thawed a lot & the wind blew quite hard. We went too Decorah a little while in A.M. Went down too Arthur's awhile in P.M. Had some birthday cake & coffee. Went on over too Dean's & got some eggs. I went down too the hall about 6:15. Another Sale & the Rebekah's served lunch. Not such a big crowd out too the Sale & we didn't sell as much lunch. Mon was down & we got home about 12:15.

Nice day. Our snow is almost all gone. Mon went down home right after dinner & then over too Arthur's too work at the wood. Dean bro't Tommy up & left him just after 1. He was going too Decorah & Iona had gone too Mrs. Rustad's funeral. Joe & Iona bro't Linda up here a little after 2. She had gotten sick in school & as her folks were not at home Joe's went & got her. They thought she might be coming down with the mumps & just as they got here Elsie & Inez came & Elsie hadn't had the mumps so Linda went back too Joe's. Florence, Aunt Alice & Miriam came later & we tried too think of all the past presidents of our W.S.C.S. & other things too put in the report for the Centennial. Dean & Linda came after Tommy about 4:30. Linda felt a lot better. Seemed too be a cold. Mon went too Lodge in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Dandy nice day. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. & P.M. working at the wood. Dorothea R. & Charlene were each here awhile after supper. Dance tonite but we didn't go.

Dandy nice warm day. We went down & got Dean about 10 A.M. & went too Decorah. His car was down there & he went after it. Stopped at the Clinic for a "shot" on our way home. Dorothea R. came up in P.M. & gave me a "Toni".

Quite a nice day but quite a wind & cooler. Went too church in A.M. Mon took me & then he went down & got Raymond Holt too come up & put in a new light in the sitting room. Took him home after he got done. We went up too Howard & Fern's awhile in P.M. They were here a few minutes in eve.

Mon. Apr. 4
Windy day. Sun shone some & it sprinkled some in P.M. Had quite an electrical storm at supper time. Kept on raining in the eve but not as hard as at supper time. We went down too Dean's in P.M. Tommy's 4th Birthday. Ruth came awhile after we got there. Then Mon & Tommy went up too the school house & got Linda, Danny & Billy, so we had birthday cake & other lunch. Good one. We went too Lodge in eve. Not many out. Howard, Henry & I got the lunch. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. working at the wood.

Tues. Apr. 5
Rather dark day & cooler. We tore paper off the sitting room ceiling in A.M. Mon went too Arthur's in P.M. Charlene & Linda came about 2:30 & Charlene & I wrote Easter cards too send for the Club. Vera & Dana came about 3:15 & they papered the sitting & bedroom ceilings. Had lunch before they all went home. Went up too the church in eve with Florence to choir practice.

Sun shone some but it was dark quite a bit of the day & much cooler. Mon went too Arthur's in A.M. to work at the wood. Lillian came after me just after 9 too go just as I was too a "Breakfast Stanley Party" at Gloria W's. Quite a crowd out. Had a good breakfast. I cleaned up the sitting & bed room floors in P.M.

Nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. & P.M. working at the wood. He went too Lodge in eve & I went too church. Candle light communion. Quite a few out. Had a letter from Isa.

Good Friday. Dandy nice day. Mon went down too Arthur's early in A.M. too help him ring hogs. We went down too Dean's in P.M. & washed the car. Linda was at a party at Rita Walter's & Tommy came home with us. He & I raked & cleaned yard some. Had a bonfire after supper. Dean's went up too Si's in eve & they took him along with them.

Beautiful day. Nice & warm. We went too Decorah early in A.M. Mon got a hair cut. We got home at noon. Went down too Arthur's & Dean's a few minutes late in P.M. Olive came home from Rochester this P.M. I went over there awhile after supper. We went too Spring Grove just after dinner.

Easter Sunday. Beautiful day. So nice & warm. Went too church in A.M. Large crowd out. Dean's came for dinner. Iona, the kiddies & I went over too Claude's awhile in P.M.

Cloudy most of the day. The sun did shine a little. Sprinkled & rained some in P.M. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. & a Arthur's in P.M. until it rained. Rained on into the nite. Not quite as warm today.

Cloudy all day. Not too cool. Mon worked at cleaning off the bank along the road in A.M. & I helped some. Dean, Linda & Tommy came along. Dean went on too Spring Grove & the kiddies stayed here. He came just as we were finishing dinner. Mon went too Arthur's in P.M. & helped at field work. Ruth & the boys were up awhile in P.M. I went over too Claude's awhile. Gloriann & Janet were there. Janet sure has grown & looks so much like Marion.

Not very nice day. Rained almost all day & on into the nite. Sometimes quite hard. A little chilly too. Mon took me too W.S.C.S. at Margaret Ward's in P.M. Quite a few out in spite of the rain. Election of officers. Myself Pres., Ruth V.P., Violet Sec., Marilyn Treas. Had a good lunch. Rode home with Alice W. Went too choir practice at the church in eve with Florence.

Rather cloudy & rainy looking in A.M. but cleared off about 11 & was very nice the rest of the day. We went down too Dean's in A.M. for eggs. Stopped at Arthur's a few minutes on our way home. We transplanted the peony's in P.M. Dean's were here a little while. They got some of the roots. Dance tonite but we didn't go.

Dandy nice day. Mon was at Arthur's working in the field until about 2:45. He came home then & we got ready & went too Decorah. Stopped at the Clinic & got a "Shot" & then on over town. We were not down there long. Came home by Dean's & Mon plowed a little while. He went down town awhile in eve.

Sun. Apr. 17
Very nice in A.M. but it clouded up some in P.M. & looked like rain but cleared off again later. I went too church in A.M. We went down too Dean's in P.M. & Iona, Linda, Tommy & I went down on the bluff for flowers. Saw quite a lot of them. Mon went down on Howard's fishing. Got 13 or 14. Had a lunch at Dean's & then Linda & Tommy came home with us & stayed all nite. Iona had a card party. Quite a lot of thunder & lightning in the nite but it didn't rain.

Mon. Apr. 18
Had quite an electrical storm early in A.M. Rained hard. Did brighten up after while & I put on the wash water about 10 & did the washing. Clouded up in P.M. & looked like rain but it cleared off again. Clothes dried good so I got the ironing done in P.M. We set out a row of peony roots along the garden late in P.M. Went too Lodge in eve. Had a nice lunch. Played bingo awhile after Lodge. Dean came up about 8:15 A.M. & got the kiddies. In time too get Linda too school. Had a letter from Isa.

Rather a chilly damp day. Didn't do much. Went too the 4th quarterly conference meeting at the church in eve with Albert's. Not many out.

Wed. Apr. 20
Dandy nice day. I washed my hair early in A.M. & then we went down too Dean's & Iona pinned it up. Stopped at Arthur's a minute on our way home. Both the boys are working in the field. Mon went to Arthur's in P.M. too help with field work. I went down too Dorothea's in P.M. & she combed out my hair. Stopped at Kate's a few minutes too.

Nice day. Mon was at Arthur's. Dean sowed grain today & finished. Mon mowed some lawn when he got home & I raked some. He went too Lodge in eve. Terribly windy today.

Nice day. Mon rode around some with Mert Rosendahl on the oil truck. We went down too Arthur's a few minutes after supper. Arthur finished sowing grain today. Edith Gullickson Gjetley was killed on the highway down by the [Hammre?] place about 6 P.M.

Dark dreary damp day. Sprinkled off & on in P.M. until late in P.M. it sure did rain. Had quite an electrical storm in eve. Rained all nite. I went too Decorah about 8:30 with Miriam. We had a food sale at the Montgomery Ward store at Decorah & we took a load of food down. Had a nice lot of food & it sold good. Mon came down in P.M. & I rode home with him. We went down too Arthur's as soon as we got home & got a goose from her deep freeze too cook.

Dean's Birthday. Rained all day & sometimes quite hard. Mon took me too church in A.M. & I rode home with Alberts. Dean's & Arthur's were here for dinner. We had the goose.

Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon rode around part of the day with Mert. Lizzie was here awhile in P.M. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. Apr. 26
Dandy nice day. We went down too Arthur's a little after 8 A.M. & burned brush until noon. Brush from the trees Mon cut for wood. Mon went back down there awhile after dinner too clean up around the bonfires. He went down town a little while in eve.

Dandy day but quite windy. Got quite warm during the day too. Left home about 7:15 & went up too Arnold's with Miriam. She left her car there & we went too Manchester with the Arnold's as did Florence. Left B.O. about 7:30. Got down there a little after 10. Stopped 3 times going down. Went to the Dubuque District W.S.C.S. Annual Meeting. Large crowd out. Had some very good talks. Had a good dinner at the Prespeterian church. Saw Ruthie Lange Lorenz & [Nettie?] Murdock Breitsprecher & talked with them a little. Left for home about 3:45 & got home at 6. Mon was at Dean's all day discing. Went too choir practice in eve with Florence. Rained some in the nite.

Light frost on the ground this morning but no damage. Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. He rode around with Mert some in P.M. I went too Club at Vivian B's in P.M. Quite a few out. Had a nice lunch. Rode over with Lillian & back with Florence. They voted on the reorganization of schools at the school house this P.M. Reorganizing districts too join with Decorah. We went up & voted & then went on down too Dean's & got some eggs.

Tues. May 3
Very nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. Started too rain a little after 4 & it sure rained hard. Quite a lot of thunder & lightning then & again in eve. Rained in the nite too. Mon was at Dean's plowing until it rained. Elsie, Inez, Violet, Dorothea & Marilyn were here in eve trying too plan eats for the Centennial Dinner. Today this A.M. the 1st to 3rd kiddies were at Decorah too get their first Salk Polio vaccine. Danny & Linda each got their shot.

Wed. May 4
Nice day but cool & windy. Mon took Albert Emery too Mabel in A.M. too see the Dr. Some one had run into his car in the rain last night & bruised him but he wasn't hurt badly. Mon was at Dean's in P.M. helping fence & plowing some. He went down town in eve. Hovden had his second birthday anniversary of the opening of the Crystal Inn. I went to choir practice at the church in eve.

Thurs. May 5
Nice day but cool & quite windy. Mon was at Dean's all day plowing. I went over too Anita in P.M. too plan our lunch for May 14th. Another sale at the hall tonite & the Rebekah's served lunch again. Not such a big crowd & we didn't sell as much food. Rode home with Howard's. Sprinkled some in the nite.

Fri. May 6
Nice day but quite windy. Warmed up quite a little in P.M. but got colder at nite again. Mon was at Dean's working in the field all day. I went with Miriam in P.M. too gather flowers for tomorrow. Charlene, Norma O., Maurice S. & La Vern S. went also. Got some violets up in Howard R's woods & then went on over by the Roscoe Wicks place & got some more there. Saw some lady slippers but they were not out yet. Bad looking storm about supper time. Hailed some & rained some with thunder & lightning, but there were much worse hail storms & tornadic winds south & east of us. Des Moines, Waukon & east of there. Power was off ½ hr. We mowed the lawn late in P.M.

Sat. May 7
Nice bright day but very windy & quite chilly. Mon was at Dean's all day. The Joan of Arc entertained the Mother's this P.M. at the Lutheran church. About 34 out. Had a nice program & lunch. We made corsages for the mothers out of ferns, violets & pansies. Went down too Arthur's & Dean's a minute after supper. Cold nite & windy. Had a Mothers Day card from Arthur's.

Sun. May 8
32º this morn. Mothers Day. Dandy nice day. I went too church in A.M. & then we went down too Dean's for dinner. They took us for a long ride in P.M. over some roads I had never been over. Got back there about 5 & had a nice lunch. Had such a good dinner too. They gave me a beautiful box of stationery & a beautiful card from Linda & Tommy & one from Dean & Iona. Rained in the nite.

Mon. May 9
Not very nice day. Cool. Rained all day & most of the nite too. Had some thunder & lightning. Rained hard at times. Didn't do much.

Tues. May 10
Cloudy early in A.M. & rather cool, but cleared off later in A.M. & was a beautiful day. I went down town about 6:45 A.M. & met bus taking 5 women on a trip. Miriam, Lucy S., Nora G. & I went from B.O. We left here about 7:15 went too Winona through Lanesboro. Had a lunch at the Hotel there, then went through the Federal Bakery. They gave us each a cookie, pencil & match book with thread & needle for darning stockings. Went on too Red Wing where we had dinner then through the Pottery Plant & the Pottery store where I bought a spoon tray. On too Rochester where we went into the Old & New Clinics. Then home. Got home about 6:30. Had a very enjoyable day & learned a lot. Mon was at Dean's in P.M. working in the field.

Wed. May 11
Nice day. I washed in A.M. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. He & Tommy were here for dinner & then over too Alberts for seed corn & too Dean's getting around too start & starting planting corn. I went up too the church parlors in P.M. Joyce H. entertained W.S.C.S. there. Not too many out. Had a nice lunch. Ironed after I got home. Went too choir practice at the church in eve with Florence.

Thurs. May 12
Nice day. Mon rode around some with Mert in A.M. & helped Arthur in P.M. He didn't go too Lodge in eve. I cleaned the floors & waxed them & did other odd jobs. Mate & Herb Van Vleit came on the bus this noon & Herb was here awhile in P.M.

Fri. May 13
We went too Decorah early in A.M. & were not down there long. I washed my hair as soon as we got home & then we went down too Dean's & Iona put in up. Mon went down too Arthur's as soon as we had dinner but Arthur didn't need him then so he came home & went with Mert again. Ruth, Anita & Muriel were here & P.M. & we made fancy sandwiches for tomorrow. Grace was here awhile. Dance tonite but we didn't go.

Sat. May 14
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Lester & Isa came just as we were finishing breakfast. Mon went too Arthur's too work today. Lesters went too Decorah awhile in A.M. Lester took Isa & I up too the church about 1 P.M. We had a kind of an open house in the basement for people who might come too the Centennial doings tomorrow. We served cookies, sandwiches, coffee & tea. Quite a few out. Had old time pictures there too. Lester went over too Donlans awhile after supper.

Sun. May 15
Beautiful day. Mon went down too Deans early in A.M. too help dig out foxes but didn't get any. Lester & Isa took me too church about 10. Service at 10:30. Had our Centennial Service. Large crowd out. Frank Shepple's & Arthur Prust's came for the Centennial. They both took part in the A.M. & P.M. services. Had a picnic dinner & such a good dinner. So much too eat. Had report from the time the church was started till now by Mrs. Arnold, S.S. for Gladys A, M.Y.F. by [Earl?] W. & W.S.C.S. by me. Talks by others. Had a beautiful cake & other lunch about 4. Came home awhile. Herb was here too see us awhile. Went back too the church in eve & had an old time song festival. Mrs. K. at the piano & Ruth the violin. Sure did sing. Everyone enjoyed it. Pretty good crowd out.

Mon. May 16
Dandy nice day. Lester & Isa got up about 4 & left for home. We got up about 6:30. Mon was at Arthur's. I washed & ironed. Went too Lodge in eve. We had company from Decorah, Cresco & Canton. Played bingo. Had a good lunch & good time. Mon bro't the tractor up & plowed the garden just after supper.

Tues. May 17
Nice day but much cooler. We planted our garden today. Mon took the tractor home early in A.M. & then he helped until it was done. Rather tired at nite. Cool nite.

Wed. May 18
Dandy nice day. Spaded up ground & put out dahlia bulbs & set out other plants. We went over too Albert's just after supper & got more seed corn & took it down too Dean's. I went too choir practice with Florence.

Thurs. May 19
Dandy nice day. Mon & Herb went too Arthur's a little after 7 A.M. too help vaccinate calves & then they went around the country too see people that Herb knew. I went up too the church about 10. Elsie, Gloria W., Dorothea, Myrtle S. & Alice W. entertained W.S.C.S. Pretty good crowd for such a busy time. Had such a good dinner. Had a plant sale too but didn't do too good with that. Mon went too Lodge in eve but they didn't have any.

Dandy day. Quite warm during the middle of the day. We went down too Albert's for dinner & spent the P.M. Herb & Mate were there too, also Aunt Alice. Had a good dinner & lunch. Got home about 5:30. We went too Decorah in eve too Lodge. Fern & Gladys went with us. They had invited B.O., Canton & Cresco there too see Rossville bring the Traveling Emblem. It was very nice. Had a good lunch.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. We went too Decorah in A.M. awhile. I went over too Olive's awhile in P.M. She kept Janet while Marion's went too a funeral. We mowed the lawn later in P.M.

Nice day & very warm. It did look stormy at times but that passed away. I went too church in A.M. & then we went down to the home school for their picnic. Large crowd out & a swell dinner. Herb & Mate & Dean's were here for supper. Arthur's came up in eve.

Very warm nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon rode with Mert in P.M. Had quite a storm at supper time. Wind, rain & a little hail with plenty of thunder & lightning. Power went off at 6:15 & was off for some hours. Rained in the nite too. Herb & Mate left for home this noon.

Tues. May 24
Rather cloudy in A.M. but cleared off & was quite nice in P.M. Cooler & quite windy. I set out some cabbage, pepper & tomato plants late in P.M.

Wed. May 25
Nice most of the day but it did cloud up in P.M. & looked rainy but it didn't rain. Cooler. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up early in A.M. & left them. They & Wallace's went fishing at Dresbach. We went down too Joe Wilhelm's fishing for awhile late in A.M. Got 33. Had a lunch when we got home & then had supper, with the fish, about 5. The folks came back about 6. They didn't get very many fish but they left us a nice big sheep head. I went too choir practice at the church in eve with Florence. Cool nite.

Thurs. May 26
Rained off & on all day. Sometimes quite hard. Rained very hard in eve with quite a little thunder & lightning. Arthur's bro't the boys up in eve & left them all nite. They went too Decorah. Mon went to Lodge in eve, but they didn't have any. Not enough came.

Fri. May 27
Rained off & on all day. Ruth came after the boys about 11. Dean was here awhile in A.M. I went too Club at Phyllis W's in P.M. with Florence. Not too many out. Had such a good lunch. Got a call from Independence about 7 P.M. that Uncle Aaron was critically ill. We went down too Archie's so we could talk too Babe about him. Clifford Dinger's & Edward came soon after we got there & the men watched T.V. & we women went in the other room & talked. We came home about 10. Dance tonite but we didn't go. Had a letter from Isa. Cleared off & was nice in eve.

Sat. May 28
Rained almost all day & sometimes very hard. We went too Decorah about 10 A.M. I went up too the Relief Office too see Geo. Ellickson. Went too the Clinic & got a "shot". Went down too Dean's late in P.M. & got some eggs. Rained most of the nite I guess. Independence called about 8:45 P.M. that Uncle Aaron had passed away. Aunt Eunice is at Raymond's so I called her right away.

Sun. May 29
Not very nice until in P.M. it brightened up some. Rather damp & dark most of the A.M. Aunt Eunice, Vincil, Eunice & Donnie were here awhile & then they went up too the cemetry. Babe came & then the folks came back. I went too Decorah with them. So did Babe. We went down too Stiene's Funeral Home where Uncle Aaron is. (They went & got him as soon as he passed away.) Made the funeral arrangements. We left Babe at her home & then the folks came up here & stayed for dinner & for awhile afterward. We went down too Dean's a little while after supper. Nice nite.

Dandy nice day. Warmer. We went up too the cemetry early in A.M. too help Percy Ward find the place for Uncle Aaron's grave & then we went too the Greenhouse. Babe was there & we ordered flowers from nieces & nephews for Uncle Aaron. Came right back home & Vincil's came & I went down where Uncle Aaron used too live. Got back here about 10:30. Mon went down too Dean's after we got home from town. I washed my hair just before dinner & Dorothea came up & put it up right after dinner. We mowed lawn & cut grass around the trees & plants in P.M. Lizzie, Babe, Bess & Donnie & Olive were here in P.M. We went up too the cemetry late in P.M. Lots of pretty flowers for Decoration Day.

Tues. May 31
Nice day but got quite windy & the wind was rather cool. Dean, Iona, Arthur & Danny came about 12. We all went too Decorah (with Dean) but Iona. She stayed here & got lunch. We took Danny over too Krumms & then went on too Stiene's Funeral home too Uncle Aaron's funeral. Quite a few out. Arthur, Lawrence D., Vincil, Leonard, Parnell & Jimmie were pall bearers. Ruth sang "Rock of Ages" & "In the Garden". Joyce played. The Rev. Arnolds talked. Quite a few of the relatives came up here for lunch after the funeral. Quite a bit of food brought in. Aunt Eunice & Vincils went home after the funeral.

Wed. June 1
Cloudy in A.M. & cool. Rained in P.M. & very hard most of the time. Over 1.2 inches of rain fell. Rained some in eve. We went too Decorah a while in A.M. Ruth, Bill, Marilyn & Violet were here awhile in P.M. We prepared the Comm's for the coming year of the W.S.C.S.

Thurs. June 2
Not too nice a day & not too bad either. Rather cool. Cloudy most of the day & the sun did shine a little too. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up about 8:30 A.M. & left them. They went too La Crosse. Iona stayed there shopping & Dean went on up too Dresbach fishing. Edna & Lloyd went with them from Spring Grove. We had lots of fun with the kiddies. Dean's got back about 5:30. Mon went too Lodge in eve.

Fri. June 3
Nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon rode around most of the day with Mert. Picked a few ripe strawberries today. We went up too Howard R's a few minutes after supper.

Nice day. Warmer. We went too Decorah awhile in P.M. Planted some more peas after we got home. Mon went down town a little while in eve.

Not very nice day. Had a bad electrical storm about 10:30. Wind, hail, lightning & thunder & it rained over .9 of an inch. Cloudy the most of the day then & it rained again late in eve. Cool day. Mon took me too church & I rode home with Florence. Arthur, Ruth & the boys were here a little while in P.M. They had been at Art Nash's too their open house for their 25th Wedding Anniversary. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show. 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. It was good.

Not very nice day & still not too bad. I picked about a qt. of berries. We mowed the lawn. Went too Lodge in eve. Decorah bro't the traveling Emblem up here. Over 20 of them came up. Had a good lunch. Their work was very good. We went down too Dean's late in P.M. after eggs.

Tues. June 7
Damp dark day. Cool. Rained off & on all day. I went up too Lizzie's & down too Aunt Mary's in A.M. Getting money for the ministers salary. Went down too see Genev & Josie in P.M. awhile. Picked about a qt. of berries after I got home. Cool nite. Had a letter from Isa.

Wed. June 8
Quite a nice day but cool. I washed in A.M. Went too W.S.C.S. at the church basement in P.M. Zoa & Gladys served lunch. Not too many out. Went too choir practice in eve. I ironed after I got home from W.S.C.S.

Not too nice a day & not too bad. Cool. Sun shone some. Mon worked in the garden some & rode with Mert part of the time. I picked the berries early in A.M. Got about 4 qts. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went down town with Gladys & Dorothea. Some of us met & tried too plan what we would do at Convention at Monona June 22nd.

Fri. June 10
Sun shone some & it was cloudy part of the time. Cool, but it did warm up a little in P.M. We went down too Deans about 8:30. Took some berries too them. Stopped at Arthur's a few minutes on our way home. Mon went too Dean's in P.M. & plowed corn. Dean took a grist too Mabel. I picked berries right after dinner. Ruth came up about 2 & I gave her some. Rained in the eve. Thunder & lightning too.

Sat. June 11
Not quite such a bad day. Sun did shine some still cool. We went too Decorah for a while in P.M. & then we picked the berries when we got home. Got 6 qts. Dorothea R. was here a little while just after dinner. I went down town a little while in eve.

Sun. June 12
Not very nice day. Looked like rain all day. Cool real chilly. I went too church in A.M. Children's Day & the Children who had been at Bible School the past week put on the program. Large crowd out. I went over too Olive's awhile in P.M. Gloriaan & Janet were there. Janet has sure grown & is so nice. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. Took 4 packages of strawberries & put them in the freezer. Rained some in the nite.

Not too nice in A.M. but cleared off & was nice in P.M. I picked 7 qts. of berries at Olive's in A.M. & then picked our berries in P.M. Got 12 qts. picked part of them over & got them ready for the locker & made some jam.

Tues. June 14
Dandy nice day. Got up early & finished picking over the berries & got them ready for the locker. Mon took 11 containers too the locker in A.M. early & then he went too Arthur's & raked hay until in P.M. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up just after dinner & left them. Chuck Woostcher talked at the Locust Father-Son Banquet at 7 P.M. & Iona had too work over there all P.M. We went too Cresco after Mon got home from Arthur's. I washed & ironed in A.M. Linda & Tommy stayed all nite.

Wed. June 15
Dandy nice day. Linda went too Bible School here at B.O. about 8:30. Mon rode with Mert awhile in A.M. Dean's came after the kiddies just after dinner. We picked the berries in P.M. Got 22 qts. Mon mowed the lawn too. We went too Decorah about 5 P.M. too get some more containers for berries. I went too choir practice in eve. Last for awhile.

Thurs. June 16
Quite a nice day. Mon went too Decorah in A.M. Took 11 packages of berries too the locker. He got his hair cut. I picked some berries in P.M. Mon went too Lodge in eve. I went up too the Lutheran church too their bazaar. They had so many nice things but they went quite cheap. Served a nice lunch.

Quite a nice day. We went too Arthur's & Dean's in A.M. Took Ruth some berries. Took some to Dorothea R. too. Claude's went too Marie's in P.M.

Sat. June 18
Looked rainy at times & did sprinkle some around noon & in P.M. We went too Decorah in A.M. Dorothea came up at noon & put my hair up. I picked berries in P.M. Got 17 qts. Dorothea came up after supper & combed out my hair.

Sun. June 19
Very warm day. Dean's came up about 10 & got us & we went too Locust & picked up Linda & Tommy from S.S. & went on. Met Arthur's & Louie's at the Effigy Mounds & then we all went on too Prairie Du Chien & had our dinner at the Villa Louis grounds. Had such a good picnic dinner. I took 7 qts. of berries. We went on into Wylus[ye?] State Park & rode around & walked around there. It is a very beautiful park. Started for home about 2:45. Came home through Marquette & McGregor, Postville & so on. Rained off & on most of the way home. Some times quite hard. Got back too Decorah about 5 & had our supper at the Wayside Park. Got home about 6:15. I went up too the Lutheran Church in eve. The Bible School students put on the program. It was good. Iona & Lelia were there & Dean, Tommy & Stanley came up & stayed here. Dean came down town after us. Arnold's at Conference so no S.S. or church today.

Mon. June 20
Mighty warm day. Very nice until about 3 P.M. it clouded up & looked like a bad storm but we only got a nice little shower & then it cleared off again. I washed in A.M. Dean bro't Iona, Linda & Tommy up after dinner & we picked the berries for her. She got 16 or 17 qts. Dean came after them about 5. I ironed after they went home. I went too Lodge in eve. Not very many out. We practiced for the Convention. Claude's got home tonight.

Tues. June 21
Quite a nice day but cooler. Mon was at Dean's all day. I did a little of everything. Florence was here awhile in eve. Cool nite.

Wed. June 22
Nice day but cool. Mon was at Dean's all day plowing corn. I picked some berries early in A.M. & then Ruth & the boys came up & she picked the rest of them. She took them all home with her. I went too Monona to a Rebekah Convention. Dorothea drove Gladys A's car. Nellie N. & Babe F. went too. We left here about 10:30. Got there about 11:45. Had our dinner & then went too the Lodge Rooms. 93 there in P.M. Had a very interesting program. We put on "How too pass a motion". Had dinner at 5:30 at the Methodist church. Good dinner. Good evening program. Monona initiated 1 member. They were good. Cresco put on a Memorial Service. It was very good. Pres. Lucile Shanda spoke a few minutes. Had ice cream, cake & coffee afterward. Babe went home with Ida H. & Muriel after the P.M. program. Cool nite. We got home about 1.

Thurs. June 23
Nice day but cool. Mon was at Dean's all day baling hay. I picked 3 qts. of berries in A.M. Mon went too Lodge in eve. I went up too the church too a farewell party for the Rev. Arnold's. Large crowd out. Had a short program & a lunch. The W.S.C.S. gave them a set of dishes & they got quite a lot of money. Albert's bro't me home. Got home about 12.

Quite a nice day. Cool. Mon was at Dean's. Didn't do much.

Sat. June 25
Nice day. We went too Decorah in P.M. Dean's were down & went around with Iona, Linda & Tommy for awhile. Picked some berries in A.M.

Nice day. Went too church in A.M. Our new minister Rev. Huffman was here for the service. I liked him. An elderly man but think he will be good. We went down too Raymond Halse's awhile in eve.

Nice day. Washed in A.M. Mon was at Dean's. I went up too the parsonage in P.M. The Parsonage Com. met too see what should be done to the parsonage when Arnold's move out. Ironed before I went & after I got home. Went too the church in eve to a "Shower" for Mr. & Mrs. Robert Underbakke. Nice program & a nice lunch. They got a lot of nice gifts. I rode home with Howard's. Got home about 11:30. I picked 4 qts. of berries in A.M.

Tues. June 28
Rather cloudy at times but cleared off in P.M. & was nice. Mon was at Dean's.

Wed. June 29
Sprinkled early in A.M. & then it sure did rain at times. Almost an inch of rain fell in the different showers. Cleared off in P.M. & was nice. Mon went too Arthur's early in A.M. but came home when it rained. He went riding with Mert. I picked 1 qt. of berries. The last. Arthur's & Dean's were here for dinner. Last berries of the year. They went home about 2:30. Mon went with Mert after they went home. Warmer today & nite. Lowell Stoskoff died today.

Thurs. June 30
Dandy nice day. Very warm. Mon was at Dean's all day putting in bales. I went up to the church about 10:15 with Florence & Elsie. We took dinner & served it there at the church too those who were helping Arnolds move. Two trucks came from Duncombe for them. We had 21 for dinner. Others bro't something for the dinner too. We went over too the parsonage as soon as we finished the dinner work. We cleaned up & did as much as we could. Two ladies from Prosper were there papering & a couple of men from Decorah painting. A couple of men came up in P.M. & put down a rug in a room up stairs. We are trying too get the parsonage all cleaned up for the new minister. Got home about 4. Mon went too Lodge in eve. I went over too Olive's. She & Nellie N. audited the Rebekah books. Ida H. came up later. Terrible wind in the nite for a few minutes.

Fri. July 1
Rained some in A.M. & quite warm. Cleared off later & was nice. We went too Decorah awhile in A.M. Got my hair cut. Came home & washed it & Dorothea came up right after dinner & put it up. Mon went too Deans & Arthur's in P.M. awhile. I went up too the parsonage about 4 with Miriam & some of the women were there & we cleaned some more. Got home about 6. Mon mowed lawn. I mowed some before I went. We went down too Dean's awhile in eve after eggs. Bad storm in the nite. Wind blew terribly hard & for quite a while. Rained hard too with a lot of thunder & lightning.

Sat. July 2
Dandy nice day. Very warm. We went up to the parsonage about 10 A.M. but there wasn't much I could do as the men were not through laying the rugs. Did what cleaning up I could though. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up & left them in P.M. while they went too Lowell Stoskoff's funeral at Locust. So many many cars on the road today. Had a letter from Isa. They are starting too Canada on their vacation today. Going too see Uncle Christ.

Sun. July 3
Dandy nice day. Very warm. I went too church in A.M. Aunt Eunice, Eunice & Vince were here when I got home. But they didn't stay long. A storm came up about 10:30 [P.?].M. Wind blew hard & it got cooler. Rained quite hard for a while.

Rather cloudy early in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day but plenty warm. Went down too Dean's. Had a picnic in their yard. Mae, Wallace & the kiddies were there. Had a good dinner & then lunch before we came home. Looked quite rainy early in eve but didn't rain til later in the nite & then not much.

Tues. July 5
Looked rainy off & on all day & the sun shone a good part of the time too. Plenty warm. I pulled weeds most of the A.M. Mon went too Deans' in P.M. too help put the hay track back in the barn. They had broken it the last of last week. I went along down there & Iona & I went up in the woods & picked gooseberries. Linda & Tommy came up awhile. I got my mop pail full & Iona got about the same. I gave Olive some & then I picked mine over in eve. Mon went down town awhile in eve.

Wed. July 6
Dandy nice day. Plenty warm. I washed & ironed. Mon was at Dean's all day hauling in hay.
Got a tank of gas today.

Thurs. July 7
Dandy nice warm day. Mon was at Arthur's hauling in bales. I canned 4½ pts. of gooseberries this A.M. Ruth bro't Bill up in P.M. & left him while she went too Bazaar Boosters with Joyce. When she got back she had a flat tire so she had too go & get Leonard Blaess too fix it. She didn't get started for home then until nearly 6. Mon was so tired he didn't go too Lodge in eve. Had quite an electrical storm in the nite & about 8 in. of rain fell.
Gas tank went dry tonite.

Fri. July 8
Nice day. Very warm again. Mon was at Arthur's in P.M. hauling in bales. I mowed most of the lawn in P.M. We finished the rest after Mon got home. Had a card from Isa today. Claude came over in eve with his rotary mower & mowed our strawberry bed.

Sat. July 9
Nice day. Not quite so warm. Mon was at Arthur's today. I went too Decorah in P.M. with Claude's. We stopped at Marion's a few minutes on our way home. We went down town awhile in eve. Drove down & I sat in the car.

Sun. July 10
Dandy nice day. I went too church in A.M. Olive was over awhile in P.M. & also Aunt Alice was here awhile. Colonel Bently died this A.M.

Mon. July 11
Very nice early in A.M. but clouded up & rained about 9. Cleared off again in P.M. I washed in A.M. but bro't my clothes in when it rained & put them upstairs too dry. Ironed late in P.M. Mon was at Arthurs until it rained in A.M. & then was home for dinner. He went back again in P.M. They were putting in bales. Rita McCabe & Jimmy Flynn were married this A.M.

Tues. July 12
Nice day & plenty warm. Mon was at Arthur's all day. I pulled weeds & worked in the garden & around the yard until about 11. Lester & Isa came shortly after that. We were at Claude's for dinner.

Wed. July 13
Nice day. Plenty warm. Mon went too Arthur's. They finished hauling in bales there today. Lester's took me too Arthur's about 9 & then they went on too Decorah & she got her hair washed & put up. Ruth had W.S.C.S. this P.M. Quite a few out. She had a good lunch. Colonel Bently was buried this P.M. Lester, Isa & Olive went. Claude's & Lester's went too Mabel in eve too a tent show. Shower for Rita McCabe at the Plymouth Church this P.M. but I couldn't go.

Nice warm day. Mon went too Dean's & they finished hauling in bales today. Claude took Olive, Isa & I too the Plymouth church in P.M. too a "Shower" for Helen Keck. Large crowd out & she got such nice gifts. Claude & Lester went riding & then they came back for us about 4:30. Lester's & us went too Mabel in eve too the tent show. "Unmarried Widow" & then they had an extra show after the play. We stayed for it all & it sure was a riot.

Fri. July 15
Nice day. Quite warm. Lester & Isa went home this morning. Mon was home today. We mowed the lawn in P.M. Dean's were here a little while in eve. Rained some in the nite.

Sat. July 16
Rather cloudy at times & cooler. Rained some early in A.M. Didn't rain until late in P.M. it rained a little. We went too Decorah in A.M. Mon got a hair cut. He had the car greased & brakes tightened so we didn't get away from town until about 2:30. Had dinner down there.

Sun. July 17
Nice day. I went too church in A.M. We have church service at 8 A.M. now for awhile. We went for a ride in P.M. Went down past Curtis Marlow's & saw their new house they are building. It looks nice. Went on around the square & came home past Dean's. It rained very hard from Mart Leonhart's place till there & we had too set in the car awhile before we could get out. Were there a while. Kids were playing out in the rain & having a big time. It cleared off then & was nice the rest of the day & nite.

Dandy nice day. Got quite warm in P.M. Mon was down too Arthur's awhile in A.M. & then went down there in P.M. again. They started combining there in P.M. I washed & ironed. Mon drove down town in eve & I went too Lodge. Only 7 out. Rather warm up there.

Tues. July 19
Nice day & very warm. Mon was at Arthur's today. We went down too Dean's after supper & got 3 hens & some eggs. I went up too the church after we got home too a meeting of the official board of the church. Not very many out.

Wed. July 20
Nice hot day. Mon was at Arthur's all day. I dressed chickens in A.M. We went down town in eve & I went up too the hall too practice.

Thurs. July 21
Nice day. Very hot. Mon was at Arthur's. He came home about 10 & took me up too the church. Hilde R., Muriel T., Rosella H., Violet U. & I entertained W.S.C.S. We had fried chicken. Good crowd out for such a busy time. Took in $51.00 I went back up too the church about 5. The Joan of Arc had an ice cream social there. Large crowd out. Mon came up there for supper. He had too go down too Dean's a few minutes after we ate & I rode along. He went too Lodge then. I rode home with Howard's. We took in about $80.00 at the social.

Fri. July 22
Nice bright day. Very warm. Mon was at Deans swathing grain. Had a nice rain & it got cooler. Marie & the kiddies came too Claudes tonite.

Sat. July 23
Nice day. Somewhat cooler. We went too Decorah in A.M. & were down there until about 3. Got the window in the car fixed. We drove down town a little while in eve.

Dandy nice day. Warmer. Mon was at Dean's combining. I washed & ironed. Ruth bro't the boys up about 8:30 & left them. She went too Decorah. Louie isn't very good. Gary & Eldon were over here quite a bit. The boys had a big time. Ruth came after the boys about 2. Got much warmer toward nite. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. July 26
Very warm day. Mon was at Dean's finishing up combining. They finished just after dinner. I went up too the church in P.M. 5 of us met & fixed out our "Date Books" for the next year for the W.S.C.S. It was nice & cool in the basement. I went down too the hall in eve too practice. Hot nite. Helen Keck & Ronnie Ryan were married this A.M.

Wed. July 27
Very warm day. Up to 100 in P.M. Mon rode with Mert some in A.M. & some in P.M. I washed windows & did odd jobs in A.M. but just tried too keep cool in P.M. but couldn't. Arthur called at supper time & wanted us too take him too Krumm's, so we went down & took him & the boys down there about 7. Ruth had been down there all day. Louie passed away about 8 or a little after. We stayed awhile & then bro't the boys up here for the nite. Hot nite.

Thurs. July 28
Very warm day again. Didn't do too much. Ruth came after the boys about 2. Went too Postville in eve with Gladys A. Dorothea drove. Fern, Audrey & Wilma went too. We took the Traveling Emblem down there. Quite a crowd out. People from Monona, Rossville, West Union & Cresco besides us. They had a short program after Lodge then a White Elephant Sale & then such a nice lunch. We got home about 12. Hot nite.

Fri. July 29
Very hot day again. Mon rode with Mert some. I went too Club at Maxine's in P.M. with Phyllis. Quite a few out & we had such a good lunch. I took a cake down too Krumm's. We went down too Arthur's & Dean's in eve. Hot nite again.

Sat. July 30
Hot day again. Had a storm in P.M. between 1 & 2, or rather just after 2. Hard wind blew down lines & trees in Decorah & blew a big tree across the paving at Victor Headington's. We went too Decorah about 12:30. Harold Reed had come down with Dr's, & he went with us. Went too Louie's funeral at the Congregational Church. Quite a crowd out. Quite a few from B.O. at the cemetry when we got there. Warm nite again.

Sun. July 31
Very hot again. Nice in A.M. but clouded up after dinner & it sure rained from about 3:15 to 5:15. 2.6 inches. Wind blew quite hard at times too. Creek was up very high. Up into the yard & stayed up until after dark. I went too church at 10:45 now. Danny was at S.S. & church & came home with me. Arthur's went too Decorah. They came after him just before the storm. It got cooler after the rain so it was a nice night too sleep.

Very warm day again. Mon went with Mert some today. We went down too Dean's in eve after eggs. Stopped at Arthur's a little while on our way home. They were gathering up their young rooster's too take to Decorah tomorrow too have them dressed for the locker. We got a young rooster too cook.

Nice day & plenty warm. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up early in A.M. & left them. They & Wallace's went fishing. The kiddies stayed all nite. Mon drove down town in eve. He went too Lodge & we sat in the car & waited for him. Ruth bro't Danny & Bill up in P.M. & left them while she went to Bazaar Boosters at Gloria W's. The kids had a big time.

Very warm day again. Did look rainy at times but didn't rain. Got cooler in eve. Dean came up & got Linda & Tommy early in A.M. Mon went with Mert some.

Dandy nice day. Cooler. I went too church in A.M. We went for a ride in P.M. Went up too Wiona & then down too St. Charles on too Lanesboro & then home. We left home about 1:30 & got home about 6. Had a grand ride. Joann Leistikow & [blank] Engrebetson were married this P.M. Cool nite.

Nice day but cool. Mon helped Arthur again today. I went too the Lutheran Aide in P.M. They had it in our church basement, as they are remodeling their church. Pretty good crowd out & a good lunch. Lillian, Pearl W., Alice Kimber & Mrs. Conrad Vick served. We went down too Dean's awhile in eve. Iona was giving Ruth a permanent. Lelia was there & May & her children came. Wallace & Dean went too Locust too a men's meeting. Cool nite.

Nice day. I canned 12 qts. of peaches this A.M. Mon was down at Arthur's a while in A.M. & helped haul in hay bales. We washed & shined up the car in P.M. Dr., Norma & Ada were down in P.M. I went up there awhile after supper.

Dandy nice day. Much warmer. I went too church in A.M. Arthur's bro't the boys up about 2 & left them & they went too La Crosse too meet Roger's. The train was late so it made it rather late by the time they took Roger's to Decorah & then back up here after the boys it was after 7.

Hot day again. I finished up the apples this A.M. Made 1 more qt. of pickles & canned 2 qts. of sauce. Mon was at Arthur's helping haul in bales until in P.M. We went too Cresco in eve too Lodge. Joe, Iona, Dorothea, Nellie N. & Mable K. went out to. Quite a crowd out from other Lodge's. Lucile Shanda & 2 other grand officers were there. They had a good program after Lodge & then a nice lunch. We got home about 12.

Hot day again. We went too Decorah awhile in A.M. Didn't do much. We went down too Arthur's in eve but they were not at home. Guess they went too the Fair.

Sat. Aug. 20
Dandy nice day. Plenty warm. Mon was at Dean's awhile in A.M. We went too Decorah late in P.M. & went too the Fair. Saw Linda & Iona & ran around with them & had supper with them. They went too ride on some of the rides & we went up in the grand stand. Big crowd up there. The free acts were good. We walked around awhile after the show. Got home about 12.

Hot 100º after dinner. Very nice day, until in P.M. it clouded up & looked like a bad storm but we only had a nice shower about 5 P.M. Cleared off afterward & was a nice eve. I went too church in A.M. Arthur's were here a little while about 4 P.M.

Dandy nice day. Not as warm. Ruth came up about 10 & Mon took us too Hesper too see about getting our turkey's for our W.S.C.S. annual dinner dressed & then we went on down too Allen [Hokalichs?] & arranged for our turkeys. We went down too Dean's awhile in P.M. [E?]ddie Wicks had been combining clover down there & were just finishing as we got there.

Tues. Aug. 23
Nice day. Not so hot. I washed & ironed. We had a nice shower in late P.M. Had a letter from Isa.

Wed. Aug. 24
Quite a nice day but cool. Mon dug some potatoes. Not too many in a hill but quite nice. I went up too the church in evening with Albert's. Dr. Dunn was here for the first quarterly conference. Not very many out.

Thurs. Aug. 25
Looked rainy most of the day until later in P.M. Didn't rain. Mon dug some potatoes. We went down too Arthur's about 3:30. Mrs. K., Roger, Carmen & their family, Marcella, Olga, Ellen & Otto & Carmen's brother Romereo were there & Dean's came about 6:30. Ruth had a weiner roast out in the yard. Had such a good supper & the kiddies had fun. They showed some of their pictures after the dishes were done. Roger's kiddies are so cute. We got home about 9:30.

Fri. Aug. 26
Sprinkled some off & on in A.M. & looked quite rainy at different times during the day. Quite warm in P.M. Mon went too Cresco in P.M. to the Fair. He got home about 7:30. I went too Club at Florence A's in P.M. with Miriam. Quite a few out. Had such a good lunch.

Sat. Aug. 27
Looked rainy off & on all day & did rain some at different times. We went too Decorah a little while in A.M. Dorothea came up & pinned up my hair after dinner. We went down too Dean's in P.M. & got some eggs. Bad accident up by Mabel this eve. Virgil Baumler's tipped over in the ditch. He was hurt quite badly & was taken to the Lutheran Hospital. Loren Emery hurt worse & taken to Rochester. Johnnie Ward not hurt so badly. He came home after being fixed up by the Dr.

Sun. Aug. 28
Dandy nice day & very warm. Arthur's & us took Roger's & Mrs. K. too La Crosse. She is going there too stay awhile. We left B.O. about 8:20. The train was supposed too leave at 10:23 but was late so it was 11:45 before they got going. We went on too Myrick's Park & had a picnic dinner there. Had a big time watching the monkeys. Lots of animals & birds there. Very nice place. The boys rode home with us. We came west from Hokah & over a road none of us had ever been over. Got back here about 3. The folks stayed awhile, eating watermelon. We went too Cresco too the Fair about 5:30. Very large crowd out. Canadian Dare Devils with their cars. They gave away $1000.00. Got home about 12.

Not too nice early in A.M. but cleared off & was nice later. Cool. I canned some tomatoes & apples. Cool nite.

Nice day but cool. I washed & ironed. Mon rode with Mert some. Ruth, Anita, Charlene & Fern were here in eve & we planned our Annual Turkey Dinner. They left about 2:30. Very cool nite.

Cool day but nice. We went to Decorah awhile in A.M. Very cool nite. Henry Barth died this P.M.

Nice day. Somewhat warmer. We went too Decorah in P.M. I went too the clinic. Got a "shot" & some medicine. Mon was down town awhile in eve. Had a letter from Isa. They had a chiravari on Allen & Ethel Quandahl.

Nice day. Mon rode with Mert in A.M. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up & left them while they went too Henry Barth's funeral. We went too Prosper in P.M. Mon went down town awhile in eve.

Dandy nice day. Very warm. Mon took Aunt Alice & I too church in A.M. & we rode home with Paul & Miriam. I went over too Olive's in P.M. Gloriaan & Janet were there, the men were all gone.

Labor Day. Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed in A.M. Mon rode with Mert. We went too Hesper in P.M. to the "Steam Engine Day". Quite a few old steam engines threshing & doing other things. Very large crowd. Went up & got Walt & Wilma in eve & took them too Lodge. Neil is home & he had their car. Quite a few out too Lodge. Had a nice picnic lunch afterward. Mable & Vin's birthdays. Had a nice time. Took Walt's home.

Tues. Sept. 6
Nice day. I washed blankets etc. Good day for it. Went down too Ruth's in P.M. with Phyllis. Joyce was there & we planned some more for the Annual Dinner. We took Olive up to Walt Barth's in eve too watch T.V. Some of the B.O. people went too Rochester too square dance. We saw some good program's besides the dancing. Wilma had a nice lunch too.
Gas tank went dry.

Wed. Sept. 7
Nice day. Olive came over about 10 saying she thought she had broken her arm so Henry & I took her too the Clinic. Claude was out somewhere selling seed corn & she didn't know where. Dr. Svendson took Xrays of her arm & set it & put it in a cast. It hurt her pretty much. We got back home about 12:15. Dorothea came up after dinner & gave me a permanent.

Thurs. Sept. 8
Rather cool & quite a lot of clouds. Looked like rain at times but didn't rain. I went too Locust in P.M. with Dean. He took Iona & I too Aide there. May C. was one of the hostesses. Large crowd out. They had a very good program & a good lunch. We rode home with May & I got home about 6. Mon went too Lodge in eve. Cool nite.

Terribly hot day & so windy. Hottest day of the year. About 100. Clouded up late in P.M. & it rained a little in eve. Quite a bit of thunder & lightning. Arthur's were up a little while in eve. Got some cooler later in the nite.

Cool day & quite windy. We went down too Dean's awhile in A.M. Went too Decorah in P.M. I went too the Clinic & had another "Shot". Olive was there too to have her arm looked after & I rode over town with them. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up in eve & left them. They are leaving in the nite for a fishing trip up in northern Minn. Cool nite.

Ice frozen on water this morning. Things were frozen. Nice day but rather cool. Ruth came up & got Linda & Tommy & took them up to the M.E.S.S. & then bro't them back here again. Lizzie came down & she & I rode to church with Ruth. We went for a ride in P.M. The kiddies & I went over to Claude's awhile in eve. Gloriaan & Janet were there. Cool nite. Froze quite a bit tonite.

Cool in early A.M. but warmed up during the day. Nice day. I washed & ironed. No school today so Linda was home. Mon & the kiddies went down home in P.M. & took some feed to the dog.

Tues. Sept. 13
Nice day. Warmer. Ruth took Linda & Danny too Decorah in A.M. too get their second polio shots. Ernie Sivisend came about 9 A.M. & put up a T.V. set for us. Zenith. He was here for dinner & until after 2. Arthur came up about 1 & was here for awhile. Mon took Linda too school at noon & then went & got her at 3:30. Arthur's were up in eve & watched T.V.

Dandy nice warm day. Quite warm for part of the day. Mon took Linda too school. He rode with Mert some in A.M. I went too W.S.C.S. at Miriam's in P.M. with Ruth. Quite a few out. We finished plans for our Annual Dinner. Had a good lunch. Mon went & got Linda & bro't Danny & Billy up with him too & then they went home with Ruth. The kiddies got a card from Dean's.

Dandy nice day & plenty warm. Mon took Linda too school & then went too Arthur's & helped him all day. Helped him sort out hogs too sell & also helped put in forms for a feeding floor. Arthur's were here awhile in eve.

Very warm day & windy & nice. Mon took Linda too school & went & helped Arthur until in P.M. We went & got Linda from school & went on down home & got some eggs. Warm nite.

Very warm day again. We went too Decorah in A.M. I got a "shot" at the Clinic. Danny came up in P.M. while Ruth & Bill went too a party for Jackie Kvam's birthday. Arthur's left the boys here in eve while they went too Mabel & then they stayed awhile & watched T.V. when they came back. Warm nite.

Very warm day again. Clouded up late in P.M. & we got a little shower but not much. Ruth came up & got Linda & Tommy & took them to S.S. Mon took me too church & picked up the kiddies after S.S. Danny & Billy came home with him too. Ruth bro't me home from church & took the boys home with her. Dean's came home about 6 P.M. We went right down there so we got too see all the nice fish they got. They sure got some nice ones. They came on back up here when we did & got Linda's & Tommy's clothes. They stayed awhile & watched T.V. & we had a lunch as we hadn't had supper yet when they came back from their trip. Clyde Quandahl's & Jones [Langaas's?] went with them on their trip. They went too Cut Foot Sioux Lake.

Had quite a rain in A.M. but cleared off in P.M. & was nice. Didn't do much. We went too Lodge in eve. Had a nice lunch. Dean, Iona & Tommy were up awhile in A.M. They bro't us some fish.

Our 39th Wedding Anniversary. Dandy nice day. Mon was at Dean's all day cutting corn. I washed in A.M. & then went too Decorah with Ruth. We got back here about 12:30. I had a lunch & then ironed. Went up too the church & worked in P.M. It rained quite a little in the nite.

Dandy nice day. Dorothea came up early in A.M. & pinned up my hair. Zoa came a little after 8 & we made the cranberry relish for the dinner. We went too Hesper in P.M. & got the turkeys. Delivered some & some came here & got theirs. Dean's came up in eve & Iona made the dressing for me.

Not too bad a day. Clouded up in P.M. & rained a little late in P.M. & again in the nite. Mon was at Arthur's awhile in A.M. He took me up too the church about 2 P.M. We had our Annual Turkey Dinner this P.M. & eve. Started serving at 4:30 & got through about 9:15 or 9:30. Large crowd & they sure ate. About 575 ate dinner. I got home about 10:30.

Nice day but cool. Mon was at Arthur's helping put in the cement feeding floor. I went up too the church with him when he went. A bunch of us were there too finish up the dishes & clean up after last night. I rode back home with Albert & Florence. Got home about 12:30.

Cool damp day. Didn't do much. Ernie D. was up & fixed up the T.V. set some. Mon rode with Mert quite a little. I went too Prosper in eve with Dorothea R. too the Neighbor's Club Bazaar & lunch. Large crowd out & they had beautiful things. They went good too. Had a nice lunch. It rained in eve & nite.

Nice day. A little cloudy in A.M. but was very nice in P.M. Mon helped Dean ring pigs & take care of them in A.M. He bro't up a load of wood from Arthur's in P.M. with the tractor & wagon. I washed & ironed & canned some apples.

Rather rainy in A.M. but not so bad in P.M. Mon hauled up wood from Arthur's. We watched the World Series. Yanks 6 Dodgers 5. Mon hauled up another load after the game. Cool nite.

Nice day. Mon helped Arthur vaccinate pigs in A.M. & then we went too Decorah after the ball game. Yanks 4 Dodgers 2. Cool nite.

Nice day but cool. Mon hauled up a load of wood in A.M. We listened & watched the ball game. Dodgers 8 Yanks 3. I went too Club at Joyce Bakers in P.M. with Margaret W. Quite a few out. Had such a good lunch. Mon hauled up another load of wood in P.M. Cool nite.

Rather cloudy early in A.M. & cool but it cleared off later in the day & was quite nice. We watched the ball game. The Yanks won 5 to 2. We went too Lodge in eve. Had visitors from Canton at Lodge & then some came up from Decorah after Lodge. Had a little dance after Lodge. Had fun. Had a good lunch afterward. Got home about 12.

Tues. Oct. 4
Not too nice a day. Started too rain about 2:30 & kept it up the rest of the P.M. & into the nite. Just a light rain & only a mist at times. Not so cool. I washed. My clothes dried well enough so I ironed in P.M. We watched the ball game. Dean & Tommy came about 1 & watched too. Dodger won the Series 2 to 0. Great doings after the game.

Not very nice day but not cold. Misty all A.M. Started too rain about 4 P.M. & it rained very hard on into the nite. Quite a lot of thunder & lightning. Raymond Halse sawed wood for us in P.M. Arthur, Dean, Mert R., Lester B. helped. Tommy came up with Dean. They finished about 3:30 & then we had lunch. Went too choir practice at the church in eve with Florence. Had a letter from Isa.

Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up in eve & left them all nite. They went too a party. All dressed up as hobo's with masks. Cool nite.

30º this morn. Frost on every thing again. Nice day. Mon took me too Decorah about 12 & I took the bus for Cedar Rapids. Got in here about 5:20. Got my room at the Hotel Magnus & then went up too Bishop's for supper. Came back too the Hotel & watched T.V. until 9. Met Mrs. Verna Millhouse of Fairfield. Dean's came up & got Linda & Tommy about 9.

Mon. Oct. 17
Not very nice day. Chilly & damp most of the day. Rained quite hard for awhile in A.M. & the rest of the day or most of the day it was damp. We went up too Bishops & had breakfast & then to the Montrose Hotel where we registered & gave our credentials & gave the secret work about 9. Ran around then until about 2 & went back to the Montrose & had a special session at 4. Went & had supper & then back to the Montrose to the seating of the Assembly officers & Reception of Grand officers & program. Very good singing. Got back to the hotel about 10:30.

Tues. Oct. 18
Dandy nice day. First session of the Rebekah Assembly 116 delegates there & just about as many visitors. Had quite an interesting day. Went over too the Memorial Colosium in eve to the Decoration of Chivalry 11 ladies received it. Very nice. Got back to the Hotel about 10.

Wed. Oct. 19
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. We had breakfast & then went too Assembly early. Supposed too start at 8:30 but it was about 9. Had the President's luncheon at the Montrose at noon. Had a very good dinner & good talk from the incoming Pres. Bertha Wymore. Then went to the Memorial Service at the First Presbyterian church. Very nice. Ran around town awhile. Had supper & went out too the Colesium too the conferring of the Degree. Not too good work. We left before it was through & then didn't get too our rooms til about 12.

Thurs. Oct. 20
Dandy nice day. Went too Assembly at 8:30. Had our final meeting this A.M. Got our checks. I got $37.02. We had our dinner & then went out to the Coliseum for the Installation of the new Officer's & the final closing of the 1955 Assembly. Beautiful work by the Installing Officers P. Pre's. We got out of there about 4:30 & then walked awhile. Had supper & then went to the Montrose too Bertha Wymore's room too see her gifts. She got so many nice gifts. Went back to the Hotel & said goodbye too Mrs. Wilson & Mrs. Millhouse & then too bed.

Fri. Oct. 21
Dandy nice day. Got up early & took a cab to the bus depot. Had breakfast there. Left Cedar Rapids at 7:30 for home. 2 Rebekahs in the seat behind & 1 with me most of the way home so we visited all the way & the time went fast. Mon met me in Decorah & we came right on home. Had dinner & then he went too Arthur's picking corn & I went up too the church basement too work at quilts. They tied 2 & we worked at the Satin quilt but didn't get it finished. Got home about 4:30. We went too the dance in eve. Mon & Mert are on the dance Comm. Elsie & I helped get supper. Pretty good crowd out & they seemed too have a good time. Bert Yates Orchestra. We came home about 12:30.

Nice day. Mon went too Arthur's. Dean bro't ½ a hog about 10:30 & I started trying out lard. Got it all done before Mon came about 1:30. We took the meat to Decorah to the locker. Weren't down long & then Mon went back to Arthur's.

Rained very hard for awhile early in A.M. & quite a bit of thunder & lightning. Dark & damp all day. Mon took me too church & Ruth bro't me home. Got cooler late in P.M. & eve. Jimmie Breitsprecher, (Martha & Ray's boy) was killed up by Prosper about 1:30 A.M. today.

Dandy nice warm day. Mon was at Arthur's again today. He took me down too Dean's early in A.M. & I picked up a couple of sacks & a pail of walnuts & then he bro't me home. I went too Jimmie B's funeral at the Lutheran church in P.M. The Joan of Arc furnished cake & sandwiches for the lunch & the Lutheran's the hot dishes. Very large crowd at the funeral. Church & basement full & so many outside. Large crowd stayed for lunch. Ruth bro't the boys up in eve & they watched T.V. She & I went too choir practice.

Thurs. Oct. 27
Dandy nice warm day. Mon went too Arthur's. They finished there about 9 & then went too Dean's. I washed curtains & windows in A.M. Went up too the Lutheran Church about 5 to their Annual Dinner. Got right in & had dinner. Good dinner. I rode back with Claude's. Got home early. Mon went too Lodge in eve.

Cold, dark, windy day. Looked like rain or snow but didn't do either. Mon was at Dean's picking corn all day. I went too Club in P.M. at Charlene's with Muriel. Quite a few out. Had a nice lunch. Claude's came over in eve & watched T.V.

Rained early in A.M. & then turned to light snow & kept it up all day. Snow melted as soon as it fell until in eve. Wind blew hard all day & in eve it was quite a little blizzard. Ground covered with snow. Cool day & eve. Ruth bro't Bill up early in A.M. & left him while she went too Decorah. She got back before noon. Mon didn't go down too Dean's. They finished picking corn there quite early in A.M.

About 2 inches of snow on the ground this morn. Not very nice day. Snowed early in A.M. but quit before too long. Dark & cool all day though. I went too church in A.M. Arthurs bro't the boys up about 12:45 & left them here while they went to Decorah too the show. They stayed a little while & watched T.V. when they came back.

28º. Nice day but cool. Mon was at Dean's all day helping haul in corn shocks. I shucked walnuts most of the day.

30º. Rather cloudy at times & sun shone some too. Cool. I finished shucking the walnuts in A.M. & then Mon & I filled in the cellar window. Mon split wood & kindly in P.M. awhile & I cleaned out the old shed & put some kindling & wood in there. I went too choir practice. Arthur & the boys were up & stayed with Mon after the boys got hair cuts. Ruth bro't me home & stayed awhile. Cool nite. Had a letter from Isa.

15º this morn. Nice day. Mon rode with Mert some today. Rev. & Mrs. Huffman were up awhile in P.M. Mon didn't go too Lodge tonite. Cool nite. We went down too Dean's just before supper for some eggs.

Nice day. Mon rode with Mert again. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. & Iona pinned up my hair. We went down too the home school in eve too their program. It was very good. Left as soon as the program was over as there was a dance at the hall & we were on with Mert's on the dance & supper comm.. I baked my big roaster of beans for the lunch. Not very many out too the dance. Yates orchestra played.

Nice day. Quite warm. We went too Decorah in A.M. Bostrom's new store opened Wed. & the rest of the week was for their grand opening. We stopped there & I bought some groceries. It's a very nice store but I couldn't see too many bargains so I went on too the Ditto & did most of my trading. Dean was here awhile in A.M. Snowed a little in the nite.

Sun. Nov. 6
Not very nice day. Snowed quite a little early in A.M. but it soon went dark & dreary all day. I went too church in A.M. Emmet Knox & his son were here when I got home. They stayed awhile after I got home. Claude's, Leonard & Marion's were over in eve & watched T.V. "Grand Old Opery". It was good. Snowed some in the nite.

Snowed off & on all day. So the ground was white. About 2 inches fell. Didn't do too much. Mon rode some with Mert. I went too Lodge in eve. Quite a few out. Had a nice lunch. I rode home with Claude's. Pavement quite slippery.

Not very nice day again. Rather a raw day. Claude took Olive & I up too the Lutheran Church in P.M. They had a Birthday Party. Had a nice program & nice lunch.

Quite a nice A.M. but clouded up after dinner & looked quite rainy. Did sprinkle some in P.M. I washed in A.M. Mon went too Canton & ordered a load of coal. They came with it just as we were going too eat dinner. I went too W.S.C.S. at Muriel T's in P.M. with Hilda R. Good crowd out & we had a good lunch. Albert E. came up & stayed with Mon while Florence & I went too choir practice. They stayed for a while afterward. Cool nite. I ironed after I got home from Muriel's.

Thurs. Nov. 10
Quite a nice bright day. Warmer. We went down too Dean's in A.M. & gathered up the rest of the walnuts. We brought home a sack & a half & left some at Dean's. They were shucking theirs in the corn sheller. We shucked most of ours in P.M. Mon went too Lodge in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Fri. Nov. 11
Rather a dark day but not very cold. Isa & Lester came about 7:30 A.M. Mon wasn't up yet. Isa & I went down too see Josie Cox in P.M.

Sat. Nov. 12
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Lester went visiting early in A.M. & the rest of us went too Decorah. Isa was over too Olive's awhile in P.M. Claude's & Leonard were here for oyster supper & then they stayed & watched T.V. in eve.

Sun. Nov. 13
Rather a dark damp day. Arthur's & Deans were here for dinner & spent the P.M. Lester's left for home right after dinner. Cold nite.

Mon. Nov. 14
10º this morn. Nice day. Warmed up a lot. I washed & ironed. Mon rode with Mert most of the P.M. Olive & Claude were over in eve & watched T.V. Quite an electrical storm in the nite & it rained quite a little.

Tues. Nov. 15
Not very nice day but not too cold. Damp & dark all day. Dorothea came up after dinner & pinned up my hair. We went down too Dean's late in P.M. after eggs. Snowed quite a little in the nite.
Gas tank went dry today.

Wed. Nov. 16
5º this morn. Cold, blustery day. Wind blew hard all day. Quite blizzardy. Didn't do too much. Went too choir practice in eve with Florence. Albert stayed with Mon while we were gone. They went right home as soon as we got back from the church. Wind blew all nite.

Thurs. Nov. 17
18º this morn. Not too nice a day & not too bad. Warmed up some. Mon took me up too the church about 1:30. We put up our articles for our Bazaar tonite. Went back up too the church again a little after 6. Carl Wennes & Harry Halvorson were our auctioneers for our Sale. Had some very nice things for sale. Sale bro't around $240. Had a lunch afterward. I rode home with Howard & Fern. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. Nov. 18
20º. Dark day. Snowed off & on in A.M. & then most of the P.M. & eve. I went too Club at Catherine H's. in P.M. with Florence. Quite a few out. Had such a nice lunch. We were supposed too go to Decorah too a supper at the Rebekah Lodge & then stay for Lodge but the roads were snow packed & Mon was afraid they were too slippery. Had a letter from Isa.

Sat. Nov. 19
18º. Quite a nice day. Warmed up so that the paving thawed off in A.M. Arthur's went too Decorah in A.M. & left Bill here. They came back about 1 & then we got ready & went too Decorah.

Mon. Nov. 21
Quite a nice day. I washed & ironed. Dean's went too La Crosse & left Tommy here. We had a good time. They got home about 5. I went too Lodge in eve. Had a lunch afterward. Birthday Party so each put in a cent a year for their age. Not many out but we sure had a nice lunch. Mon came down too lunch. Some from B.O. went too Rochester & danced tonite, so he stayed home & watched them.

Tues. Nov. 22
Damp day. Rained at times & quite a little late in P.M. & eve. We went too Decorah in A.M. Got a turkey for Thanksgiving. Dean's were here a few minutes in eve. They took the turkey home with them.

Wed. Nov. 23
Dandy nice day. Wiped up the floors in A.M. Put some wood in the shed in P.M. Went too choir practice in eve. Cold nite.

Thurs. Nov. 24
Thanksgiving Day. 5º this morn. Dandy nice day. Warmed up. I went too church at 9:30. We got out a little after 10. Not many out. We went down too Deans' after church. Arthur's, Claude's & Leonard were there. We each took part of the dinner. Sure had a good dinner & a good lunch before we came home.

Dandy nice day. Didn't do too much. Piled some wood in the shed in P.M.

Quite a nice day. Not too cold. Didn't do much. Got colder in the nite & snowed some.

Cold blustery windy day again. Cracked & picked out walnuts a good part of the day.

Zero. Nice day. I washed in A.M. We went too Decorah after dinner. I got my hair cut. Ironed after we got home. Went too choir practice in eve. Claude was over & watched the fight on T.V. in eve.

Thurs. Dec. 1
Dark damp day again. Started too snow in P.M. & snowed quite a little. Dean was here awhile in P.M. Mon went too Lodge in eve. Had a letter from Isa. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. & Iona pinned up my hair.

Fri. Dec. 2
Dark damp day. Not too cold. Wind blew & it wasn't a very nice day. Cracked some nuts & picked them out.

Sat. Dec. 3
Quite a day. Snowed & rained & was quite a day. Snowed quite hard late in P.M. & then snowed hard for a little while. Pavement was quite slippery for awhile in P.M. before the rain, but it thawed then & was slushy. Arthur's bro't the boys up in eve about 6 & left them while they went too Decorah too the Teacher - Director Banquet. They got back about 10. Elmer Butler died this A.M.

Not very nice day. Cloudy & rather windy. Not too cold. I went too church in A.M. Claude, Olive, Leonard & Marion's were over in eve & watched T.V. "Grand Ole Opery". It was good. Cleared off in eve. Cold nite.

Mon. Dec. 5
5º below. Dandy nice day, although it was cool all day. I went over too Anita's about 10:30 with Paul's. Miriam, Florence & I got dinner for the relatives. Margaret W. came later & helped. We went too Elmer's funeral at 2 at the church. Rev. I & Emma Arnold came in A.M. & were at Anita's for dinner & they & Rev. Huffman had the service. Ruth & Dorothy [Ewalt?] sang. Large crowd out & beautiful flowers. We girls took the flowers back to the house after the funeral & helped with the lunch. Got home about 4:30. We went too Lodge in eve. Not too many out. Had a nice lunch. Cold nite.

Tues. Dec. 6
Iona's birthday. Not too nice early in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day. Thawed quite a little. Didn't do much. Geo. McIntire passed away this P.M. Audrey & Harold were here a few minutes in eve.

Wed. Dec. 7
Quite a nice day. I washed & ironed. Went too choir practice in eve. Ruth bro't Bill & Arthur up here & left them while she went too choir practice. Danny went to a candy pull in the church basement while we were practicing. Albert stayed here too during choir practice.

Thurs. Dec. 8
Quite a nice day but rather cool. Dean & Tommy were here awhile in P.M. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up here in eve & left them all nite. They went too a party. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. Dec. 9
Nice day. Dean came up & got Linda & Tommy about 8:30. I went too Decorah about 12:45 with Albert & Florence. Olive went along too, to Geo. McIntire's funeral at the Stiene Funeral Home. Ruth, Florence & I sang. Joyce played. Albert, Florence & I went up to Harold & Audrey's too lunch afterward. Quite a few there & we had a very nice lunch. Claude came over in eve & watched the "Bobo" Olson – Sugar Ray Robinson fight on T.V. Didn't last long. Robinson knocked out Olson in the 2nd round. Had a letter from Isa.

6º below. Nice day. Warmed up some. We went too Decorah in A.M. Cold nite.

10º below. Nice day. Warmed up some during the day. I washed clothes. Arthur's & Dean's were up for oyster supper. Dean had too go too Hesper too play darts in eve, but Iona, Linda & Tommy stayed here until he came back. Arthur's went home a little after 10. Cold nite.

Tues. Dec. 13
Warmer day with the wind in the south & cloudy spitting snow at times in A.M. & early P.M. Cleared off later in P.M. & the wind got around to the north & got colder. I ironed. Went up to the Lutheran Church in P.M. too their Ladies Aide. Irene F., Vivian B., Evelyn U. & Martha B. entertained. Had a good lunch. Went to choir practice in eve. Cold nite.

Wed. Dec. 14
Zero. Chilly, windy day. Quite bright in A.M. but rather blizzardy in P.M. & eve. Mon took Olive & I up too the church in P.M. Our W.S.C.S. had the Christmas Party. Had quite a few guests. Ruth & Marliyn had a very nice program in the church & then we went down in the basement for lunch. Had a very nice lunch too. Alice W., Leta R. & Lexie A. were hostesses. Furnishing the sandwiches & coffee & the rest of us furnished the rest. Arthur came up after us about 8:45 & we went down there for Danny's Birthday supper. Had a good one. Kenny Henning was there too. The kiddies sure had a good time. Arthur bro't Kenny & us home about 9. Cold nite.

Thurs. Dec. 15
8º below. Nice bright day but cold & windy. Wrote Christmas cards most of the day. Mon didn't go too Lodge. Cold nite.

Fri. Dec. 16
2º below. South wind & quite windy & chilly but the sun shone most of the day. Dean was here while in A.M. Had a letter from Isa.

Sat. Dec. 17
8º below. Nice in A.M. Clouded up in P.M. & snowed some late in P.M. but cleared off again in eve. We went too Decorah in A.M. Cold nite.

Sun. Dec. 18
10º below. Cloudy at times but the sun shone most of the time. I went too church in A.M. We were alone all day. Very cold nite.

Mon. Dec. 19
30º below. Cold day. Didn't get up too zero all day. Didn't do much. Dorothea came up in A.M. & pinned up my hair. We went too Lodge in eve. Only 10 out & we had Lodge in the kitchen. Mon didn't try too warm up the Lodge room. Very cold nite.

Tues. Dec. 20
18º below. Not too nice a day. Did warm up a little. I washed in A.M. Went up too the church in P.M. too a party for Rev. Huffman's. Not too many out but they did get quite a few gifts. Started too snow later in P.M. & it snowed quite a little. I went too Locust in eve too the Christmas Program with Dean's. Quite a few out & they had a nice program & a nice lunch afterward. Cold nite.

10º below. Somewhat warmer today. Not too bad a day. Sun shone some. I went too Club in P.M. with Vivian B. Quite a few out. We had our Christmas party & exchanged gifts. I got 2 nice vases. Had a grand lunch. Club was at Donna Kruse's. New officers took over today. Norma [Oylie?] Pres. Gloria W. V. Pres., Maurice S. Sec., Charlene H. Asst. Sec. & Vivian B. Treas. Went too choir practice in eve. Ray & Gladys H. came up here while their kiddies went too practice & Arthur & Bill were here too. Ruth & Dan bro't me home. We had a lunch after we got back here. Little daughter born to Allen & Ethel Quandahl.

Thurs. Dec. 22
Much warmer today. Thawed some. I made candy today. We had our Christmas program at the church tonight. Large crowd out & they had a very good program. Arthur's bro't me home.

Fri. Dec. 23
Dandy nice day. Warmed up a lot. Thawed quite a lot. I went up too the church about 12:15. Anita & I fixed lunch then Zoa, Hilda, Elsie, Miriam & Dorothea came & we served lunch too the relatives of Lelia Gates who was buried at B.O. They came for lunch just after 1. Not too many came. I made some candy in P.M. Claude came over in eve & watched the fight on T.V.

Sat. Dec. 24
Quite a nice day. Thawed quite a little. We went too Decorah in A.M. Mon got a hair cut. It clouded up late in P.M. & got somewhat colder. Had a letter from Isa.

Sun. Dec. 25
Cooler today & rather dark but not a bad day at all. I went too church in A.M. & then we went too Arthur's for dinner. Ruth had goose & Iona & I each took dinner too. Had such a good dinner. Danny had quite a cold so he didn't have much fun but the other 3 had plenty of fun. They went out & slid down hill in P.M. awhile & the men were out trying it too. We came home about 5. It started too snow just after dark & kept it up during the eve. Not too hard though. I got a nice apron from Iona & a T.V. book cover from Linda that she had made at school. Henry gave me money for a dress, but didn't find one I wanted.

Quite a nice day although the sun didn't shine too much. Thawed quite a little. I washed & ironed. Went too choir practice in eve.

Wed. Dec. 28
Rather a dark day not too cold. Started too mist late in P.M. & it froze on the pavement as it fell so the pavement was terribly slippery in eve. We went too Decorah awhile in A.M. Got much colder in the nite & the pavement froze dry.

Thurs. Dec. 29
8º below. Nice bright day, but cold. Gladys A. was here awhile in P.M. Iona, Audrey, Wilma & Ida H. were here in eve auditing the books. Mon went too Lodge. The men came after their wives after Lodge & we all had lunch. Cold nite.

Fri. Dec. 30
18º below. Nice day but cool. Didn't do much.

Sat. Dec. 31
Quite a nice day. Warmer. We went too Decorah in A.M. Dean was here awhile in P.M.
