Thurs. Jan. 1
Not very nice day. Dark & dreary again. Arthur's were up for dinner. Dean was here awhile in P.M. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went over too Olive's & spent the eve. Wilma, Alice & Susie came & spent the eve to.

Fri. Jan. 2
Quite a nice day. Sun shone all day. Mon went too Prosper just after dinner. We got a load of briquets from there later in P.M.

Sat. Jan. 3
Not very nice day again. We went too Decorah about 11:30. Got my hair fixed. Went down town in eve.

Sun. Jan. 4
Very nice in A.M. but clouded up after dinner & snowed off & on in P.M. Sometimes quite hard. Went too church.

Mon. Jan. 5
10º below. Quite a nice bright day with quite a wind until later in P.M. it went down. Didn't warm up much all day. I washed & ironed. Mon went down & helped Arthur get hogs in too sell, in A.M. Dean took feed to Mabel in P.M. too grind. Linda came along & spent the P.M. with us. Went too Lodge in eve. Installation of officers. I am D.D.P. Iva Sheley N.G., Gladys Albertson V.G., Olive Sec. Dorothea R., Fin. Sec. & myself Treas. Had a lunch. Not too many out. Cold nite. 25 below when we came home.

Tues. Jan. 6
10º below. Snowing when we got up & kept it up until after dinner. Sometimes quite hard. Cleared off in P.M. & was very nice. Got colder at night again but clouded up in the nite & then it warmed up.

Wed. Jan. 7
10º above. Nice bright day. Cool. Mon worked for Gordon Reid at the Station almost all day. He went down town in eve.

Thurs. Jan. 8
Rather a dark, damp & foggy day at times. Not very cold though although it was a damp cold. Didn't do much. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. He is D.D.G.M. & they had Installation tonite.

Fri. Jan. 9
Dandy nice day. Thawed quite a little. We went too the dance in eve. Quite a crowd out & a big time. Dewey Golbergs played.

Sat. Jan. 10
Not too bad a day. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. & got some eggs & cream. Went down town awhile in eve. Wind came up about supper time & it sure did blow hard most of the nite. Not too cold though.

Sun. Jan. 11
Quite a nice day. Rather cool & the wind blew some but not as bad as last night. Dean's were up for dinner & spent the P.M.

Mon. Jan. 12
Nice day but quite windy. I washed & ironed. Mon went too Prosper right after dinner & got some fish we had ordered. Arthur & Danny came up & got their fish they had ordered with us. Mon went down town in eve.

Tues. Jan. 13
Nice day. We went too Decorah in A.M. Mon got a hair cut. The I.O.O.F. men went too Decorah in eve & installed their officers. Iona, Olive, Wilma & the kids were here & spent the eve while the men were gone. Dean bro't Linda & Tommy up & left them while they went too the last show. They stopped & took Tommy home with them but Linda stayed all nite. Chas. Breitsprecher was operated on at La Crosse today. He is not very good.

Wed. Jan. 14
Not such a nice day but not cold either. Rather dark & damp. Thawed quite a lot. W.S.C.S. met here in P.M. 20 women out. Dean came after Linda about 10 A.M.

Thurs. Jan. 15
Quite a day. Rained & hailed, thunder & lightning in A.M. Quite warm. Wind got around to the north after dinner, blew hard & got much colder. Mon went too Decorah early in A.M. too get his drivers license renewed. I went too the church about 10:30 with Fern & Howard to W.S.C.S. dinner. Fern, Violet, Florence, Joyce & Inez entertained. Large crowd & a very good dinner. Mon went to Lodge in eve but I didn't go down town. Had a letter from Isa.

Fri. Jan. 16
10º below. Very cold early in A.M. but warmed up during the day. It was a nice bright day & the wind didn't blow. Didn't do too much. We went too Decorah in eve. Olive & Alyce W. went with us. B.O. installed the officers at Decorah Rebekah Lodge. Quite a few out. Had a very good lunch afterward. Got home about 11:30.

Sat. Jan. 17
Rather nice in A.M. but snowed off & on in P.M. & eve quite lightly. Dean was here a few minutes in P.M. We didn't go down town in eve.

Rather blustery & windy in A.M. but was quite nice in P.M. Went to church in A.M.

Mon. Jan. 19
Cloudy part of the day & the sun shone some too. I washed & ironed. Arthur's bro't the boys up & left them while they went to the school house to a meeting.

Tues. Jan. 20
Rather a dark dreary day again. Went up too Fern's in P.M. with Dorothea R. to practice for Thurs. night. Olive & Mabel K. went too. We also made the box for the "Ship". Went down to Genev's in eve. Alberta was there for the night. Charlie stays just about the same. She has been with him ever since the operation. Listened quite a bit of the day to the Inauguration. Dwight Eisenhower was sworn in as Pres. of the U.S. today.

Wed. Jan. 21
Not too nice in A.M. but did clear off some in P.M. so the sun shone part of the time. Arthur & Ruth bro't the boys up after dinner & left them while they went to Decorah.

Thurs. Jan. 22
Not very nice day. Dark, damp & dreary. Quite foggy early in A.M. but the fog did lift a little later. We went too Decorah about 12. I got my hair fixed. Started too snow lightly about 4 & then later it snowed harder. Snowed off & on all eve & nite. We went down town a little while in eve. Dorothea R. was here awhile early in A.M. The B.O. Rebekah's were too go to Postville this eve with the traveling emblem but the weather spoiled it. They bro't Charlie B. home from La Crosse this A.M.

Fri. Jan. 23
Not very nice day again. Did thaw quite a little during the day & thawed the ice loose from the paving so the maintainers got it all off. We went to the dance in eve. Pretty good crowd out & we had a good time. Dewey G's played.

Sat. Jan. 24
Mon's 58th Birthday. Rather a blustery day. Quite windy. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. & Mon helped Dean get some pigs sorted too sell. The truck came after them about noon. We stayed there for dinner. Had a good dinner.

Sun. Jan. 25
Not too nice a day again. Rather dark & stormy looking but it didn't storm. Cleared off in eve. We picked up Danny from S.S. & went too Arthur's for dinner. Dean's were there & Florence & Albert. Ruth had the dinner for Mon's & my birthdays. Sure had a good dinner & a good time. Played cards in P.M. Arthur's & Dean's gave us a card table for our birthdays.

Mon. Jan. 26
Quite a bright day but the wind blew hard & was chilly. I washed & ironed. Mon went down town in eve. Had a letter from Isa. Stanley's Katherine called in A.M. that Uncle Charlie Yager passed away early this A.M. Mon helped Arthur sort out hogs too sell in A.M.

Tues. Jan. 27
Nice bright day, most of the day, but windy & chilly. We went too Decorah awhile in A.M. Arthur's left Bill here in P.M. while he went too Harmony & Ruth up to Art Nash's. Mon stayed at the station for Gordon R. in P.M.

Wed. Jan. 28
2º below this morn. Very nice in A.M. We left home about 9 A.M. for Center Point. Took our time going & got there a little before 12. Warren, Stanley & Kay, Florence Y., Lillian Y., Henry & I were the only Yagers there. A niece & nephew of Aunt Etta were there. The ladies of the M.E. church served us dinner. Uncle Charlie's funeral was at 2 at that church & then the burial at Cedar Rapids. The boys were pall bearers. It started too snow on our way back from Cedar Rapids so when we got to C.P. we didn't stop only a minute, then into our car & home & it was a terrible ride. Snowed quite hard at times & the paving so slippery we couldn't drive fast. Road much better from Fayette on & we didn't slip around then. Moon & stars came out & it was nice. Stopped at Decorah for lunch. Got home at 8:30. Left C.P. at 4:20.

Thurs. Jan. 29
10º below this morn. Sun shone some & it was cloudy at times. Warmed up some. Didn't do much. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. Jan. 30
Quite nice at times & at times cloudy & snowy looking. Went too Club at Inez W's in P.M. with Lillian. Most of the Club members out. Had initiation. Alberta Arneson, Norma [Oylo?] & Joyce Breitsprecher joined. Had a good lunch. Charlie B. was worse today so they took him to the Decorah Hospital.

Not too bad a day & not too good. Snowy at times. Regular blizzard for a while about supper time & in eve. Didn't do much of anything. Didn't go down town in eve. Got much colder in the nite.

10º below. Sun did shine once in a while during the day but it stayed cold. Went to church in A.M.

Mon. Feb. 2
Not very nice day although the sun did shine some in P.M. Rather cold in A.M. but warmed up some in P.M. Went too Lodge in eve. Played cards after Lodge & had a nice lunch.

Tues. Feb. 3
Not very nice in A.M. but sun shone some in P.M. Went down too Charlene H's in P.M. with Rev. Arnold's to Bible Study. (Jordan's have moved down on Frank Perrys place). Not very many out. Charlene served cake & coffee afterward.

Wed. Feb. 4
Not nice in A.M. but quite nice in P.M. Thawed quite a little. Went down too Margaret Ward's in eve to a Stanley Party. Large crowd out. Olive & I went with Howard & Fern. Had a lot of fun. Got home about 12.

Thurs. Feb. 5
Not a very nice day & yet not too bad. Thawed a lot. I washed & ironed. Ruth bro't the boys up in P.M. & left them while she went to Bazaar Boosters at Dorothea R's. Started too snow about 5 & it sure did snow. Wind came up a little later & it was a regular blizzard. Arthur & Ruth bro't the boys up about 7 & left them all nite. They went to Decorah. Mon went to Lodge. Had a birthday card & handkerchief from Isa & a card from Arthur's & a little letter from Ginny & Marvin.

Fri. Feb. 6
Not very nice day. Rather chilly all day. Pavement icy. Didn't thaw it off any. Arthur came up & got the boys about 10:30. We didn't go to the dance tonite.

Sat. Feb. 7
Not too bad a day. Sun shone once in a while but not much. Warmed up so the ice cleared off the pavement. Dean, Linda & Tommy were here a minute at noon. Mon had gone down too Clyde Q's with them & they bro't him home. We went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed & Mon gave me money too get a new pair of shoes for my birthday. Got red ones. We went down town in eve. Cooler tonite.

Sun. Feb. 8
My 61 Birthday. Dandy nice day. I went too church in A.M. We went to Olive's for dinner. Duck & all the trimmings. It was good. Marion & Gloria Ann were there too. Glen Reed came just as we were going too eat & stayed until about 4. He had come down on the bus too get some things from Ada's house. We went down too Dean's about 6. Arthur's came over too & we had an oyster supper & other good things. The men played pinochle in eve. Had a good lunch before we came home.

Not very nice early in A.M. but cleared off & was quite a nice day. Didn't do much.

Tues. Feb. 10
Not very nice day. Rained off & on all day & sometimes quite hard. Froze on the pavement in A.M. but it loosened up in P.M. Bible Study met at Florence's today but I didn't go. Didn't like the weather & roads.

Wed. Feb. 11
Not very nice day. Dark & damp. Did thaw some but it got colder later in P.M. & froze. I went too W.S.C.S. business meeting at Joyce H's with Alice. Quite a few out. Had a good lunch.

Not very nice day. Quite windy & not too cold until late in P.M. it got colder & the snow blew quite a little. I washed in A.M. Went too Locust in P.M. with Dean's to L.A.S. Ida Halse was one of the hostesses. Quite a crowd out. They had a very good lunch. Went down town in eve.

Fri. Feb. 13
Not too bad a day. Sun shone & it thawed quite a little. Arthur came up just after dinner & got Mon too help him sort out pigs too sell. I ironed in A.M. Annie Halse passed away this A.M.

Sat. Feb. 14
Quite a nice day but the wind was chilly. We went too Decorah early in A.M. Mon got a hair cut. He didn't get away from the barber shop until just about noon so we had too wait until after dinner too pay the car insurance so we stayed down there for awhile. I just about passed out at the Sweet Shop. Scared Dean & Iona who were in there. Didn't last long though. Went down town in eve.

Sun. Feb. 15
Nice bright day but a chilly wind. I went too church in A.M. We went too Annie Halse's funeral at the [Gourley?] Funeral Home at 1:30. Olive & Lizzie went too. Very large crowd out. Hardly standing room. We didn't go too the cemetry or the church for lunch afterward. Cold nite.

Mon. Feb. 16
10º below this morn. Nice bright day but cold. Did warm up a little. We went too Decorah about 10:30. I went too the Clinic. Had too wait until about 11:30 too see Dr. D. Got a blood count taken & the count is down so had to go over town & get some medicine. Got home about 1. Went too Lodge in eve. B.O. entertained Decorah, Cresco & Canton Lodges at a 2nd Birthday party. Pretty cold nite so not so many out as there would have been if it were warmer. Vivian Nelson & her mother came from Clear Lake. Had 36 visitors at Lodge & then some men came in after Lodge. Each lodge put on a skit. Decorah had an auction sale of things they had bro't & that bro't in $25.50 & they gave it too us. Vivian gave us an electric clock. Had a good lunch. We served.

Tues. Feb. 17
Nice day but cold. Did warm up some in P.M. I bro't the silver ware home last nite & Olive came over & helped me clean it up this morn. I went too Lillian's in P.M. too Bible Study. Had a letter from Isa.

Wed. Feb. 18
Nice day. I washed & ironed. Thawed quite a little. Went too church in eve. Dr. [Dunn?] Pres. Elder spoke. Ruth bro't me home.

Thurs. Feb. 19
Quite nice early in A.M. but clouded up before noon & snowed some. I went up too the church about 9:30. We had an oyster dinner. Had escalloped potatoes, vegetable salad, pickles, home made rolls, cherry pie & coffee besides. Not too large a crowd out. Took in about $70. It started too rain about supper time & kept it up until into the nite. Mon went too Lodge but I didn't go down town.

Heck of a day in A.M. Rained & at times quite hard but it got warmer & thawed the ice on the pavement so the maintainers cleared the ice off. The sun shone for a while in P.M. Started too snow about 10 P.M. & the wind blew very hard so it was a regular blizzard & kept it up the rest of the nite. Not very much snow fell though. Got colder in the nite. We went to the dance in eve. Quite a few out. Had a good time. Dewey's played. Dance quit at supper time on account of the storm.

Nice bright day. Warmed up a little. Olive & Claude were over for dinner & spent the P.M.

Dandy nice day. Warmed up a lot. Just like a spring day. I washed in A.M. We went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed. I ironed in eve. Walt, Ruby & Barbara Rehwinkel left B.O. this P.M. for McAllen Texas too live. Mon went down town in eve.

Not too nice a day & not too bad. Sun didn't shine only very little. Not very cold. Bible Study met here in P.M. Only 8 here.

Wed. Feb. 25
Not too nice a day only not cold. Snowed off & on in P.M. but not too much snow fell.

Thurs. Feb. 26
Not too bad a day but quite windy. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went down town.

Fri. Feb. 27
Nice bright day but chilly & windy. Thawed quite a little too. Claude was here in A.M. assessing. We went down too Dean's in P.M. too celebrate Linda's 6th Birthday. Olive rode down too Elsie's with us. (Club was there but I didn't go). We stopped & got Ruth & the boys & took them along too Dean's too. Took Linda a blackboard & some socks. Danny & Billy gave her a little dish washer. The kids sure had a good time. We had a good lunch too. Got home about 5:45. Mon went down town in eve & I went over too Olive's. "Happy" Lovlien had a heart attack late this P.M. & they took him too Decorah to the Hospital.

Sat. Feb. 28
Not too bad a day. Chilly. We went too Decorah about 9:30 & were back home again about 12. Went down town awhile in eve. They bro't "Happy" home from the Hospital this P.M. Saw Delores down town & she said he didn't seem too be in pain but he would have too be very quiet. Had a letter from Isa.

Sun. Mar. 1
Nice bright day but cold & slippery. Went too church in A.M. We went down too Archie's in P.M. too see Uncle Aaron. He looks good & says he feels pretty good. Arthur & Ruth went too Hesper in eve too a shower on Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Thorson (Elsie Bronner) & left the boys with us. Neither one went too sleep before the folks came about 10:30. Clouded up in eve & the wind blew & it snowed some in the nite.

Not too nice a day & not too bad either. Thawed quite a little. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up in A.M. & left them & they went to La Crosse with La Vern & Si. They got back about 5. Mon went down town in eve.

About zero this morn. Quite a nice day. Cool early in A.M. but warm up later. It did snow off & on in P.M. Regular March day. I washed in A.M. Went down too see Dorothea Reid in P.M. awhile. Ironed after I got home.

Thurs. Mar. 5
About zero this morn. Quite a nice day. Warmed up some during the day. Ruth went too Bazaar Boosters in P.M. & left Bill with me while she was gone. Danny stayed with his dad. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge & I went up too Arnold's too a meeting. Cold nite.
Gas tank went dry today.

Quite a nice day but chilly. Mon helped Arthur in P.M. putting wall board on the room they are going to have for a bath room. We didn't go to the dance in eve. Cool nite.

Sat. Mar. 7
Very nice at times & at times it snowed quite hard. Regular March day. We went down too Dean's in A.M. & got some eggs. Stopped at Arthur's awhile on our way home. Went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed. Lizzie rode home from Decorah with us. Ruth bro't the boys up about 5 & left them. They went too Decorah in eve too the director, teacher banquet. Mon & Danny went down town in eve. Arthur came after the boys about 10:30. Snowed some in the nite.

Nice day. Warmed up some. I went too church in A.M.

Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Ruth bro't Bill up about 11 & left him. She & Arthur were going too School Election in P.M. They came after Bill about 4. Danny & Linda started too school this morning. Mon went down town in eve.

Tues. Mar. 10
Nice day. We went too Postville in P.M. Went too see about selling clover seed but didn't have any luck. Went on out too Padden's. Ruth had bro't Francis home from the Hospital in A.M. He had been there for a week. He surely is thin & looks bad, but is better. We got home about 6:15. It thawed a lot today. Water running every where.

Wed. Mar. 11
Rather a dark day. Looked rainy but didn't. Quite warm. Thawed a lot. Creek was bank full at nite. Went too the church basement in P.M. too the W.S.C.S. business meeting. Had a very short meeting & then Mrs. Carelton Anderson talked of her Red Cross Work in India & showed many curios & things she had brought from there. Quite a few out. Dorothea Reid & Rosella Houdeck served lunch.

Foggy all A.M. Not very cold. Did clear off some in P.M. & the sun shone some but it clouded up again. Didn't get so foggy though. Dean & Tommy were here awhile in P.M. I went too Mabel about 6:30 with Albert & Florence to a dinner at the M.E. church. Pretty good dinner. Got back too B.O. about 7:30 & rode on down town with them. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. Mar. 13
Quite a nice day but it didn't thaw as much as yesterday. Went too the church basement in P.M. too the last bible study meeting. Had a number of questions too answer & then Alice Wilbur & I had a little dialogue. Had a nice lunch afterward only 11 grownups out. Marvin & "Ginny" came too Claude's just as I came home from the church.

Sat. Mar. 14
Nasty day. Rained almost all day & sometimes quite hard. Got colder late in P.M. & some ice froze on the trees & telephone & electric wires. Didn't do much of anything.

Sun. Mar. 15
Not too nice a day. Rather blustery early in A.M. but it didn't snow much. Warmed up & thawed so it was plenty sloppy. Got colder in eve & cleared off. We were over too Claude's for dinner. Leonard was home too. Fred, Jessie & Jessie's daughter & husband came just after dinner too see Marvin & Ginny & then Harry & Bobbie came up. We came home about 4:30. Went too Mabel in eve too the Show. Bing Crosby & Jane Wyman in "Just for You". I liked it but Mon didn't care too much for it.

Mon. Mar. 16
Dandy nice day. Arthur came up & got Mon early in A.M. too help him sort some calves. He got home about noon. We went too Decorah in P.M. I went too the clinic. Had to wait about an hour, then I walked over town & did my trading. We went too Lodge in eve. Quite a few out. Had a lunch afterward. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. Mar. 17
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. I washed & ironed. We went down too Dean's a little while late in P.M.

Wed. Mar. 18
Nice day but a little cooler. Thawed quite a lot & the wind blew quite hard so it dried up too. Dean was here a few minutes just after dinner. He took the clover seed too Decorah to have it cleaned. Mon went down town a little while in eve. Cooler nite.

Thurs. Mar. 19
Dandy nice day. I went up too the church about 10:30 too help the girls. Charlene, Iona, Anita, Luella & Pearl D. served dinner today. Had a good dinner & a good crowd. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. Vance Webb & 7 other men came too visit their Lodge tonite.

Nice day. Clouded up late in P.M. & looked rainy. Did rain in eve & nite. Quite a little thunder & lightning but not too much rain. We went too Decorah about 9. Mon got a hair cut & I got mine fixed. We stayed down town for dinner. I washed & waxed the sitting room & bed room floors in P.M. Lizzie was here awhile in P.M. We went to the dance in eve. Not many out. Little Abner's orchestra played & I don't like them too well. Dean sold some hogs today & was here awhile in P.M.

Sat. Mar. 21
Quite nice in A.M. but clouded up later in P.M. & the wind blew a regular gale. Looked like we might get a terrible storm at supper time & we did get quite a hail storm & some rain along with the high wind but it cleared off later in eve & the wind went down in the nite. Had much worse hail storm at Cedar Falls. There it took out most of the windows in the city. Many places they had tornadoes so we were lucky. I worked around cleaning up the house & did a little baking. We didn't go down town in eve.

Dandy nice day. Very warm. We had a gathering of the relatives here today for Marvin & "Ginny". Claude's, Leonard, Marion's, Arthur's, Dean's, & Harry Q's were here. Had a picnic dinner & we sure had a good one. The kids had a big time playing out side it was so nice. We went over too Claude's just about dark too see Marvin's movies. It rained quite hard in the nite & got cooler.

Quite nice early in A.M. but it clouded up later & snowed off & on. Snowed quite hard in P.M. for awhile. Quite windy again. Regular March day. I washed & ironed. Mon went down & helped Dean put rings in the hogs noses this A.M.

Tues. Mar. 24
Not very nice day. Snowed off & on all day. Quite hard late in P.M. & eve. Enough too cover the ground. Got colder in P.M. Marvin & Ginny left for their home about 7:45 this A.M. Mon went down town in eve. Grandmother Queen Mary of England died this P.M.

Wed. Mar. 25
Another March day. Snowed off & on & the sun shone some too. Colder today so it didn't thaw much. Arthur was here a few minutes in eve.

Thurs. Mar. 26
Nice bright day. Cool. Went too Club at Florence's in P.M. with Lillian. Quite a few out. Had a nice lunch. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. Cold nite.

Fri. Mar. 27
Nice bright day but the wind blew quite hard & it was chilly. Miriam, Alice W. & I went too Decorah about 9:30 A.M. We ordered 3 doz. folding steel chairs for the church basement ($3 each). Got back home about 11:30. Olive & I went up too the Sale of Mrs. Lovlien's furniture, dishes etc. in P.M. It was so windy & cold standing around out there we didn't stay too long. Stopped & called on Mrs. Koenig & Josie & Genev on our way home. We went too Canton in eve too a dance given by the Rebekah's & Odd Fellows. We took Fern & Howard. Quite a few there from B.O. but hardly any one from Canton. We had a very good time. Little Abner's played. Cool nite.

Sat. Mar. 28
Nice bright day but quite windy & the wind was chilly although the thermometer got up to about 50. Mon was at Arthur's almost all day helping dehorn calves etc. I went down too Aunt Mary's a little while in P.M. We went down too Dean's just after supper & got some eggs. Nice bright day but the wind came up in P.M. & was chilly. I went to church in A.M. Mon went down on Joe Wilhelm's in P.M. fishing. He got 12. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show "High Noon". It wasn't too bad.

Not very nice day. Rained all day. Sometimes quite hard & then just a sprinkle. We went too Decorah in A.M. Charlie Breitsprecher passed away at the Decorah Hospital a little past 9 P.M.

Tues. Mar. 31
Not very nice day again. Looked rainy but didn't rain until about 3:30 & then it kept up the rest of the P.M. & nite but not too hard. A man hauling 8 tons of fertilizer had a blow out & a flat tire on dual wheels of his truck just as he came along here so he was parked in our drive way most of the day. He had a cute little boy with him. Ed Dawley & Duane sawed down the box elder tree over across the creek in the pasture this P.M. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up in eve & left them while they went too Decorah to a Show. It was about 1 when they came back & it was snowing hard then.

Not very nice day. Sprinkled & rained off & on all day. I went down too Genevra's awhile in P.M. Only Josie, Joyce & Sheila Meer were there. Howard R. was here a few minutes in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Thurs. Apr. 2
Nice in A.M. but clouded up about noon. Looked quite rainy & then about 4 it started too rain. Rained quite hard about supper time & all of eve. We went too Charlie B's funeral at the M.E. church in P.M. Very large crowd out. Beautiful flowers. Ruth & Mrs. Ruel Headington sang & Joyce played. They sang so nice. The I.O.O.F. & the Legion had services at the grave. Dean & Linda came with a jag of wood in the pick up just after I got home. Mon came with them. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went too church with Albert's to the Candle light communion service it was very nice & a large crowd out. Had a lunch afterward. Got home about 10:30 & it was raining hard then.

Fri. Apr. 3
Not very nice day. Rained off & on all day & snowed in P.M. enough so that some snow was left on the ground. Wind blew very hard in P.M. Didn't do much of anything.

Sat. Apr. 4
Tommy's 2nd Birthday. Nice part of the day & then not so nice part of the time. Snowed some in P.M. but did clear off later in P.M. & was nice then & in eve. We went too Decorah about 12:15. Got my hair fixed. Large crowd in town. Got home about 4 & then went down too Dean's. Took Tommy's birthday gift & the things I had gotten him & Linda for Easter. We had some of his birthday cake. He was a little wild man, so full of pep. Stopped at Arthur's a few minutes on our way home & left Danny & Bill their Easter things. Went down town awhile in eve. Had a card from Ruby, Walt & Barbara today.

Quite a nice day. Sun shone most of the day but it was partly cloudy too. Not too cool. I went too church in A.M. Very large crowd out. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show. "Skirts Ahoy". It was quite a show.

Very nice day. I washed & ironed & worked at the yard some. Cleaning off the leaves on the little flower bed & cleaning off the peony's. Mon helped Arthur ring hogs in A.M. We went too Lodge in eve. Quite a few out. Had a lunch.

Sun shone some & it was cloudy part of the time too. Worked at the lawn a little in A.M. Olive & I went down too see Alberta in P.M. but she wasn't home. Just Josie & Mabel there. We went up too Lizzie's a little while after we came from "Bert's". Mon went down town in eve.

Wed. Apr. 8
Not very nice day. Rained all day & into the nite & sometimes quite hard. Went too W.S.C.S. at [Jennie?] Ward's in P.M. Rode over with Florence & back with Louie U. Quite a few out. We had such a nice lunch too.

Rather dark in A.M. & looked rainy but it didn't start until after 2 P.M. & then it did rain hard the rest of the P.M. & eve. Olive & I went too Locust in P.M. with Dean, Iona & Tommy too their Ladies Aide. Fern Kern & Millie Knoke entertained. Large crowd out. Quite a few there from B.O. Rev. Arnold's showed films & talked. Had a very nice lunch. Mon went & got Linda from school & bro't her up here too wait until we got back from Locust. It rained so hard in eve Mon didn't go too Lodge.

Nice day. I washed & ironed & cleaned yard. Mon was at Dean's almost all day. He hauled home corn he had bought from Harold Seelye. He went down town in eve. Cool nite & froze again. Norma, Ada & Peggy were down to the house a few minutes in P.M. & I went up too see them.

Tues. Apr. 14
Quite nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & started too rain about 4. Rained quite hard later in P.M. & eve. We went too Spring Grove a little after 9 too get repairs for the tractor. Waited all A.M. but couldn't get anything done so we came home about 12:30. Had dinner & then went to Cresco. Got the repairs out there. Got back to Dean's about 3:30 & were there until nearly 6. Getting the tractor fixed up. Dean had a hog & beef butchered there at home today.

Not a very nice day. Rained almost all day & at times very hard. Started too snow about 3:30 & kept it up then until after supper. Wind came up then too. Got into the north & got colder. Cleared off in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Thurs. Apr. 16
About 25º this morn. Snow on the ground & the ground frozen. Nice bright day but cold. Didn't thaw enough too take off all the snow. Mon & I went too Prosper about 10:30 too order coal for the hall & then on down too Dean's. The man was there cutting up the meat. We got all of Iona's meat wrapped & in the deep freeze & that filled it up, with all the other things that were in it. So we just left ours there too take to Decorah to a locker. May C. & the girls came down in P.M. We got home a little after 4. Aunt Alice, Olive & Gladys A. were here awhile after we got home. We had a little party for Olive & Claude at the hall after lodge. Around 50 there. Ruth & Alberta played a few pieces on the violin & organ. Had such a nice lunch. Some played cards & some just visited. Got home about 11:30. Cold nite & windy.

About 20º this morn. Nice bright day but chilly & cold. Didn't warm up much during the day. I tried out lard early in A.M. & then we went down to Dean's & got our meat & took it too Decorah & put it in a locker at Reardon's. Got home a little after noon. Cold nite. Got 9 ½ qts. of lard.

About 20º this morn. Cold windy day but the sun did shine most of the day. Clouded up for a while late in P.M. but cleared off again in eve. Didn't do much of anything. Cold nite again & it snowed in the nite enough too cover the ground.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Mon went down too Dean's a little after 6 A.M. too plow until Dean got the chores done. He came home about 9 & we went too Decorah. I got my hair fixed & Mon got a hair cut. We got home about 12:30. We went down too Dean's about 3:30. Picked up Linda & Danny at the school house. Stopped at Dean's a few minutes & then took Danny home. Had a letter from Marvin & Ginny.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Mon went too Dean's a little after 6 again. Ruth came up a little after nine & took me up too the church. She couldn't stay as Bill isn't very well. The B.O. W.S.C.S. entertained the Sub District W.S.C.S. Some of us had too work in the kitchen so we didn't get too the A.M. meeting but did get too hear part of the P.M. meeting. We served dinner too them & then a lunch afterward. Expected 120 but about half that number came. We left B.O. about 6:30 in eve & took the traveling Emblem too Postville Rebekah Lodge. Olive, Alyce W. & Alberta went with us. We got down there about 7:30 so went on down too Padden's a few minutes. Francis isn't much better. 13 down from B.O. Some from Monona. They bro't the T.E. too & they did well. Had a swell supper & good time. Got home about 11:30.

Not very nice day. Started too rain about 8 & kept it up all day & most of the nite I guess. Rained very hard at times. Quite a lot of thunder & lightning later in P.M. Went too Club at Maxine Falck's in Decorah in P.M. with Alice W. Quite a crowd out. Had a "Stork Shower" for Alberta Arneson & she got some nice things. Had such a good lunch. Dance in B.O. tonite but we didn't go. Dean's Birthday but we didn't get down there.

Rained in A.M. & then let up again until late in P.M. it started up again & rained quite hard then & in eve. We went too Decorah awhile in P.M. Paul, Marie & the kiddies came too Claude's in eve.

Not very nice day again. Rained & snowed in A.M. but then it wasn't so bad until later in P.M. again. Sun did shine a little in P.M. Rather cold. I went over too see Paul's a few minutes in A.M. They sure have a nice baby. Olive asked us over for dinner but Henry is about sick with a cold so we didn't go. I went over a while in P.M. Marion's came too & Leonard was there. They all went home about 5.

Very nice day until about 1 it started too sprinkle & then later it rained quite hard. I washed & ironed. Mon isn't much better.

Chilly windy day. Sun did shine a little during the day but it clouded up late in P.M. & rained. Had quite a bit of thunder & lightning & it rained hard in eve. I set out a rose bush & went over too Olive's & got a bleeding heart & set that out in A.M. We went down too Arthur's & Dean's awhile in P.M. Went on up too Canton when we came home & got a weeping birch tree & Mon set that out when we got home. Cost $10. Mon went down town awhile in eve.

Not very nice day. Dark & chilly & rained off & on all day & nite. Sun did shine for awhile in P.M. Terribly windy. Olive & I went up too the cemetry in P.M. with Luella Y. too Florence Haye's burial. Quite a few came over from Cresco. Beautiful flowers.

Thurs. Apr. 30
Dark, damp, chilly day. We went too Decorah awhile in A.M. Dean's came up just after dinner & were going too Decorah so they left Tommy here while they were gone. Had lots of fun with him. They got back about 3:20 & went right on home too pick Linda up at school. Rained very hard at supper time. Quit then for awhile but rained quite hard again about 10. We went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge.

Rainy day again. Not too hard but just damp all the time. Didn't do much. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show "Blazing Forest". Pretty good show.

Dark in A.M. & then about noon it started too sprinkle. Rained quite hard at times in P.M. & rained all P.M. Went too Alberta's Sale in P.M. The W.S.C.S. served lunch & we were busy. Large crowd out too the Sale. Got home about 5:30. Didn't go down town in eve. Little son born to Erlin & Alberta Arneson.

Dark, dreary day. Went too church in A.M. Danny came up here after S.S. & stayed until after church. Ruth bro't me home & then he went on home with her. We went up too the Lutheran church for dinner. They had a 25th Wedding Anniversary party there for Walt & Wilma Barth. Picnic dinner & then wedding cake & other cakes & coffee for lunch later. Large crowd out. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show "Come Back Little Sheba". Didn't care too much for it.

Very nice day & warmer. I washed & ironed. Arthur, Ruth & Mrs. K. went too La Crosse today & left Bill here. Mon went down & got Danny after school & bro't him up here. Arthur's got back about 5. Ruth went too have her eyes fitted for glasses. We went too Lodge in eve.

Tues. May 5
Dandy nice day. We went fishing in P.M. down on Joe Wilhelm's creek. Got 38. Erlin Arneson got his house moved up on his lot west of us that he bought of Lydia Ward. Mon went up there after we got home & watched them get the house up where they wanted it, so we didn't have supper too early. He went down town awhile in eve.

Wed. May 6
Looked rainy off & on but was quite a nice day for all of that. Did have a little shower about supper time. Mon went too Dean's early in A.M. & worked awhile then came home after Dean got chores done. He went down again about 12 & helped Dean get started at the seeding. He came home & bro't a new power mower, bought it of Gordon Reid. $100.00. He had a lunch & went back too Dean's about 5 & went at the seeding while Dean did chores. He got home some after 8 & they had finished the seeding. I raked & burned grass etc. most of the day. Mon was helping clean up when he was home.

Thurs. May 7
Dandy nice day. Mon went too Dean's early in A.M. too drag. He came home then when Dean got chores done. Ruth went too Bazaar Booster's at Alice W's in P.M. & left Bill here. We tried out the new mower in P.M. Went down town in eve. Had a Mother's Day card from Isa.

Fri. May 8
Dandy nice day. Warm. We went too Decorah about 8:30. I got a permanent. Got home about 2 & had a lunch then went down too Dean's. The plow lays had too be fixed so we took them too Decorah. Linda didn't have school this P.M. so she went along with us. Didn't stop down town only too leave the lays. Stopped at Wepler's & got the bacon. Went too the dance in eve. Not too many out but a good crowd. Dewey's played. Had a Mother's Day card from Arthur's.

Sat. May 9
Dandy nice day. Ruth bro't the boys up early in A.M. & left them while she went too Decorah. She got back about 10. Ada & Norma were here a few minutes in P.M. They were down too the house working at the yard. Dean's went too Decorah in eve & left Linda & Tommy here while they were gone. We went down town a little while. Ruth bro't me a dish with a plant in it for Mother's Day. The Hugo Noecker school house burned this P.M.

Mother's Day. Nice day but got terribly windy late in P.M. & cooler. There were tornados north & south of us but we just got a little shower & wind. I went too church in A.M. Arthur's & Dean's were here for dinner. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show "Never Wave At a W.A.C." It was good. Dean's bro't me a nice nylon slip.

Nice day. Quite breezy. I washed & ironed. We went too Decorah after dinner too get the parts of the plow lays. Didn't stop any where. Took them too Dean. Mon mowed the lawn in P.M.

Cold windy day. Sun shone some & it looked quite stormy at times but we didn't get any rain. We went over too Harold Seelye's about 5:30 too look at some corn & Mon bought it then on down too Dean's too tell him too go & haul it home. Mon went down town in eve. Cold nite. Froze ice on water.

Wed. May 13
Quite a nice day. Went too W.S.C.S. meeting at Lucy Snell's in P.M. with Florence. Quite a few out. Had a nice lunch. Charlene gave me the President's books & papers as I am going in as Pres. the coming year. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show "Jeepers Creepers" & a stage show put on by some people from K.M.O.X. Good show. Cool nite.

Nice day. I went too La Crosse about 9 A.M. with Ruth & the boys. Ruth got her new glasses. We did quite a little running around. I bought a coat. "Shortie". $11. Looked for a dress but didn't get one. Mon helped Albert Erickson put a new roof on their brooder house in P.M. Mon went too Lodge in eve.

Fri. May 15
Quite a nice day. Did cloud up at times in P.M. & looked quite rainy. Had a little shower between 5 & 6 & again in eve. Mon went down too Arthur's & Dean's a few minutes in A.M. I fixed flower beds & sowed some flower seeds in A.M. We went down too Dean's right after dinner. Chas. & Helen came down there while we were there. They had come here but as we were gone they came on down too Dean's looking for us. We came home a little after 2 & they stayed until about 7.

Sat. May 16
Nice day. We went down & got Iona, Linda & Tommy about 9 A.M. & went too Decorah. Tommy got a hair cut. Linda had such a swelling on her neck & the side of her face & ear & we took her too Dr. Larson. He had Iona get some medicine for her too take & some ointment too put on. Looked like something had bit her & it was itching so badly. We had dinner down town. Got back too Dean's about 1:30. We were there awhile & then Mon bro't me home. He went back down there & worked at the stock tank then in P.M. We went down town awhile in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Sun. May 17
Nice day but it did look quite rainy at times & thundered quite a bit in P.M. Didn't even get a sprinkle. Mon went down too Arthur's early in A.M. & helped him sort his cattle & get them in the pastures. I went too church in A.M. We went down too the home school too their picnic. Quite a few out & we sure had a good dinner. We took a little ride on our way home, over too see the remains of the Hugo Noecker school house that burned. Came home & changed our clothes & went down on Fred Walter's fishing. Got 49. Gary Martinson drowned at the lower dam this P.M.

Nice day. I washed & ironed. We mowed the lawn late in P.M. I went too Lodge in eve. Not very many out. Mon was down at Dean's helping today but was home for dinner.

Tues. May 19
Very nice day until late in P.M. it clouded up. I left home about 7 A.M. Went down town too take a bus for a trip too Winona. 10 ladies from around B.O. went. The bus was late so we didn't leave B.O. until about 8. We got up there about 9:30. Had a nice lunch at the Steak Shop, then a ride around the city, then too Swifts where we went through the packing plant. Had dinner at Swift's, then another ride, then to the Watkins plant where we went through that. Then on up the hill too look over the city, then home. Rained very hard from Winona to La Crescent. Got home about 5:30. Had a very nice trip. $3.00 for everything. Rained a little after we got home.

Wed. May 20
Nice part of the time & cloudy part of the time. It sprinkled off & on all day. Looked quite stormy after supper. Rained in eve. Mon went down too Dean's early in A.M. for awhile & then went down about 11:45 & drove tractor while Dean went too dinner. Ruth & Elsie were here & got some strawberry plants in A.M.

Thurs. May 21
Quite a nice day although it did look rainy at times. Mon went too Decorah early in A.M. too get a hair cut. Ruth bro't Bill up about 9:30 & then she & Danny went up too the church where she was one of the servers for W.S.C.S. dinner. Elsie, Zoa, Myrtle & Lucy S. were the others. Bill & I went up about 11:30. Not too big a crowd out. Had a very good dinner. I went too Harmony in P.M. with Inez, Gloria & the girls, Elsie & Zoa to the W.S.C.S. food plant etc. sale. They also served lunch. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up & left them all nite. They went to a wedding. We went down town a little while in eve. It rained very hard in the nite. Gary Martinson was buried this P.M.

Not too nice a day. Cloudy, looked like rain most of the day. Did sprinkle some in P.M. Dean's came up early in A.M. after the kiddies & Iona got flower plants too set out, here & at Olive's. Mon was at Arthur's all day helping tear down the barn. I went too a meeting at the parsonage in eve & then on down to the dance. Quite a good crowd out & a good time. Charlie Olson played. We got supper again. Olive helped us.

Sat. May 23
Rather a dark day. Looked rainy but didn't. We went too Decorah about 9. Didn't stay long down there. Came home by Albert E's & got some more seed corn for Dean & took it over there on our way home. Dean was nearly through planting. We went down too Arthur's in P.M. Mon helped Arthur at the barn & the boys & I went fishing. Got some nice ones. Left them all down there.

Rained off & on all day & some times quite hard. Rained hard early in A.M. & again at nite. I went too church in A.M. Went again at 4 P.M. Dr. [Dunn?] was there for quarterly conference. Not many out. Florence came & got me & bro't me home.

Nice day. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. He came home for dinner & bro't the tractor & plow & plowed the garden before he ate. He got a drag at Gordon's & dragged the garden & we got most of it planted in P.M. also mowed the yard. We went down too Albert E's awhile in eve. Had a letter from Isa. Cold nite.

Wed. May 27
Quite a nice day but the wind was chilly. Mon was at Arthur's until about 3:30 P.M. I finished planting garden in A.M. & cleaned out the strawberry bed. Dean's came up in P.M. too help me plant potatoes. We were just about through when Mon got home. Had a lunch after we finished the potatoes. Cold nite.

Thurs. May 28
Nice part of the day & cloudy part of the time. Sprinkled a little in P.M. Wind blew quite hard & it was cool. We went too Decorah early in A.M. Got my hair fixed. We got some cabbage, tomato & asparagus plants at the greenhouse. Mon went too Arthur's after dinner & I went along but Ruth was gone so he bro't me back home. Dean, Linda & Tommy were here a little while in P.M. Mon went too Lodge in eve.

Dandy nice day. Very warm & windy. Mon & I fixed a place & set out the asparagus early in A.M. & then he went down too Arthur's too help with the barn but Arthur was going too plow corn so Mon went over too Dean's awhile & then came home. Vin, Eunice their kids, Aunt Eunice, Neva & Johnny were here awhile in A.M. I went up too the cemetery about 1 with Olive & Claude. We walked around up there & visited with different ones. Got home about 3. Went down town awhile in eve. Cooled off in eve & nite.

Nice windy day & somewhat cooler. Mon went down too Arthur's early in A.M. fishing. I went too church. Arnold's are away at a W.C.T.U. Convention on the west coast & Canada so a Rev. Bean was here too preach. He was good. We went for a ride in P.M.

Nice day but quite windy & the wind was chilly. Mon was at Arthur's all day. I went down with him in the morning & went too Decorah with Ruth & the boys. Got back about noon & I went on home with her for dinner then she bro't me home in P.M. We went too Lodge in eve. Frances Rakow & Charles Schnitzler were married this A.M. at 10. She was the first June bride so got a number of gifts from the Decorah merchants. Ada came back too her home today too stay awhile. Mary Reed is going too stay with her.

Very nice day & quite warm. Mon was at Arthur's until about 3:30. I went up too Lizzie's awhile in P.M. We went down too Raymond M. Halse's a little while after Mon got home. Had quite a storm in the nite. Severe lightning & thunder & it rained quite hard. Dean's were here a minute in A.M. They bro't us a nice fish. They had been fishing yesterday.

Thurs. June 4
Not too nice a day. Rained off & on all day. Quite hard late in P.M. Cleared off in eve. Mon was at Dean's. They put in a cement porch at the west door. We went down there in eve after it let up raining & Mon & Dean worked at smoothing the cement off. They had the step covered but it rained so hard it rained through the covering. Clyde, Edna & Mark came just before we left. Didn't get back in time for Mon too go to Lodge. We stopped down town a little while.

Fri. June 5
Not too nice a day & not too bad. We went too Decorah awhile in P.M. Went too the dance in eve. Charlie Olson's played. Not too many out but had a good time. We helped Chas. & Frances Schnitzler get supper. Dean, Linda & Sharon were here a few minutes in eve.

Sat. June 6
Quite a nice day but the wind was chilly. We went down too Dean's in P.M. too take the frames from the cement work & Mon fixed the railing. We stopped at Arthur's a minute on our way down. Dean had gone fishing. Had a letter from Isa. We didn't go down town in eve.

Sun. June 7
Not too nice a day although the sun did shine some. Quite windy & chilly. No church today. We were alone all day. Went too Mabel in eve too the Show "Road to Bali". It was sure funny. Had a bad storm about midnight. Wind blew very hard & it rained quite a lot. Chas. Pollit died suddenly about 3 A.M.

Mon. June 8
Not very nice early in A.M. but cleared off later in the day & was quite nice. Windy all day though. Mon went down too Dean's in P.M. & put on some screens. He bro't Danny & Bill home with him too stay all nite. Arthur & Ruth went too Decorah to a party in eve.

Tues. June 9
Very nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & looked very bad. Had some rain & some pretty sharp thunder & lightning. I washed & ironed. Ruth came up in A.M. & got the boys. Did a little running around after I got the washing done.

Wed. June 10
Not too nice in A.M. but cleared off & was quite nice. I went too Chas. Pollit's funeral in P.M. Ruth, Dorothea, Florence & I sang. "Sometime We'll Understand", "Good Night & Good Morning" & "Beyond the Sunset". Large crowd out. The W.S.C.S. served lunch after the funeral. I helped so didn't get home until about 5. Danny & Bill stayed with Mon all P.M. Mon & I worked in the garden in eve until it got too dark too see what we were doing. They took Alberta too the Hospital at Harmony this eve.

Thurs. June 11
Nice warm day. Looked rainy at times but it didn't rain. I worked in the garden for awhile in A.M. Went too W.S.C.S. at Lizzie C's in P.M. Good crowd out. The new officers took over today so I was Pres. Had a good lunch. Went down too Genev's in eve & then stopped over town awhile on the way home. Mon went too Lodge. Alberta isn't very good.

Dandy nice day. Very warm. I went up too the Lutheran Church in P.M. too a "Birthday Party". All of the ladies of the community were invited. They had a nice program & a nice lunch. Quite a crowd. Dean, Linda & Tommy were here a few minutes just after dinner. Very hard storm in the nite or rather early Sat. morn.

Looked rainy in A.M. & did rain in P.M. but cleared off late in P.M. We went too Decorah in A.M. Got my hair fixed. We went down too Dean's after supper after some eggs. Stopped down town awhile on our way home. Had a letter from Isa.

Dandy nice day. Went too church in A.M. Had the Children's Day Program & it surely was good. We went down too Arthur's a while late in P.M. Went too Harmony in eve too the Show "The Stooge" Martin & Lewis. Alberta passed away this P.M.

Mon. June 15
Dandy nice day. Mon went too Decorah early in A.M. & got a hair cut. I went down too Genev's awhile early in A.M. We left home about 12. Claudes went with us to Postville too the Rebekah Convention. Pretty good crowd out but a much bigger crowd in eve. [Ida?] & Raymond were down in eve so there were 6 from B.O. We had such a good dinner at 6 P.M. & then lunch after the meeting was over at nite. Very interesting & instructive program in P.M. Postville initiated 5 members in eve & they were very good. We got home about 12.

Tues. June 16
Rather cloudy at times but it was quite a nice day & warm. Went down too Genev's a minute early in A.M. Went too "Bert's" funeral at Decorah (Stienes) with Irene & Christy Foss. Fern went along too. Irene, Fern, Inez, Miriam & I were "flower girls". The funeral service was at the M.E. church at B.O. at 2 P.M. Naomi Olson of Hesper was the minister & she was so good. Mon was one of the pall bearers. Very large crowd out. "Bert" looked so good. Worked in the garden & mowed lawn after the funeral.

Wed. June 17
Nice day & warm. I washed & ironed. Ada & Mary Reed were down awhile in A.M. I went too Decorah awhile in P.M. with Ruth & the boys. Worked in the garden in eve. Picked a few berries this P.M. The first.

Thurs. June 18
Very nice day & plenty warm. Dean was here early in A.M. & then he & Mon went too Prosper awhile. I helped Olive pick some berries too. Went up too the church about 10:30 & helped the girls with their dinner. Audry G., Alice W., Phyllis W., Dorothea R. & Hazel H. served the monthly dinner. They had a very good dinner & a good crowd. Took in $79.00. I stopped too see Mrs. Koenig a minute & Josie & Genev on my way home. Muriel T., Joyce H. & Sheila Meer & Florence E. were here in eve. We made out the committee's for the coming year of the W.S.C.S. Mon went too Lodge. Had a letter from Ruby R. Picked the berries late in P.M. Didn't get too many. Hot night.

Fri. June 19
Very warm day. We went too Decorah in P.M. awhile. Sure hot down there. Came home by Dean's & stopped there awhile, then stopped at Arthur's a few minutes too. Went too the dance in eve. Not too large a crowd out but they had a good time. Very warm in the hall. Charlie Olson's played. Had quite an electrical storm in eve & it rained a little. Cleared off & was a nice night.

Sat. June 20
Very warm day again. Clouded up about noon & looked like we would have a bad storm but it went around. Sprinkled a few times in P.M. & rained quite hard for a little while. Ruth bro't the boys up & left them in P.M. while she went too Decorah. I picked the berries late in P.M. but didn't get too many. Had a letter from Isa. Cooled off about supper time & was cool in eve. I went down town a few minutes in eve.

Sun. June 21
Father's Day. Quite a nice day but cooler. It did cloud up in P.M. & rain a little but it cleared off again. I went too church in A.M. Arthur's & Dean's came up for dinner & surprised Mon for Father's Day. Arthur's went home shortly after dinner as Kenneth's were coming there in P.M. Had a picnic dinner & a good one. Dean's took us for a ride in P.M. & Olive went too. Went too see some beavers but we didn't get too see them. Up north of Prosper. Rev. Arnold's got back from their trip last nite.

Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon went down too Dean's in P.M. Some of the W.S.C.S. ladies met here in eve & we wrote out the "Date Books" for the coming year. Cooler today & tonite.

Tues. June 23
Rather a chilly day. Sprinkled off & on in P.M. & about 4 it rained hard. Rained until in eve. Mon was gone all day. He went too Mabel with Ray Henning.

Wed. June 24
Quite a nice day. Rained early in A.M. but cleared off. Warmed up in P.M. We went down too Dean's about 9 & then he went too Cresco with us. He & Mon bought an elevator out there. Got back home about 12. We went down too Arthur's for a little while about 4 P.M. We mowed the yard in P.M. Went down too Arthur's in eve. Martin Jaarstad's were over too. They showed some pictures Kenneth had & also some of Arthur's. Had a nice lunch. Got home about 10. Had quite a storm in the nite, or rather early in Thurs. A.M. Lots of thunder & lightning & it rained hard & a lot of rain.

Thurs. June 25
Quite a nice day. I went up too Aunt Alice's awhile in P.M. Went down town awhile in eve. Mon went too Lodge.
Gas tank went dry.

Fri. June 26
Nice day but cool. We went too Decorah early in A.M. I got my hair fixed & Mon got a hair cut. We got home a little after 12. Claude took Olive & I too Club at Bernice Newhouse's in P.M. Good crowd out & we had a good lunch. Had a "Shower" for LaVern Snell. She got some nice things. We rode back too B.O. with Muriel T.

Sat. June 27
Quite nice early in A.M. but didn't stay that way too long. We left B.O. at 4:30 A.M. It started too rain just after we left Cresco & it sure did rain hard at times & the wind blew hard. We got too Mason City a little after 6. Helen & Chas. hadn't had breakfast yet. When they were ready we left there at 7:30 for Omaha. Sure did rain at times until about noon it cleared off. Pretty hot from Missouri Valley too Omaha. We got there about 3. Rained very hard & hailed some just after we got there. We sure visited the rest of the P.M. & eve. Watched television for awhile in eve & then Chas. had taken some of the pictures they had taken so we looked at some of them also some Sid had taken.

Sun. June 28
Rather cloudy early in A.M. but cleared off & was a grand day. Nice breeze & not too hot. We went for a ride about 11 & didn't get back until about 2. Had a lunch then & sat around awhile & then Sid took us for another ride. We visited the stock yards which was very interesting. Got back a little after 6 & then had supper out in the yard. Sid broiled steaks & they were sure good. Watched television & saw more pictures in eve. We went too see "Boys Town" on our trip in A.M.

Mon. June 29
Dandy nice day. Warmed up but there was a nice breeze all day. We left Sid's about 9:45 for home. Stopped a couple of times coming home & got back to Chars. about 5. Came home past Clear Lake & stopped there a few minutes. We stopped at Chas. a few minutes & then on home. Stopped at Osage for supper. Stopped at Dean's on the way home. Both of the kids have the measles. We drove 713 miles on our trip.

Tues. June 30
Nice day & plenty warm. I washed & ironed. We went down too Arthur's & Dean's a little while in P.M. Linda is much better today but Tommy was quite fussy. They are both broke out plenty.

Wed. July 1
Nice day until late in P.M. it clouded up & looked like rain but it didn't rain. Cleared off in eve. I worked in the garden all A.M. pulling weeds & hoeing. We mowed yard in P.M. Mon went with Erlin A. most of A.M. delivering oil & gas. I went up to Ada's awhile in P.M. Kate R. is staying with her now. Mary R. had too go home.

Thurs. July 2
Nice day. Quite warm. Mon & I both worked in the garden some in A.M. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. July 3
Nice day. Not as warm. We went too Decorah in A.M. Got my hair fixed. We went down too Dean's awhile in P.M. They bro't the elevator over from Cresco this A.M. Mon had bought a wading swimming pool for the kids in Decorah (Plastic) so he & Linda got it fixed up & got water in it so she had a big time in it. Tommy was asleep. We went too the dance in eve. Dewey G's played. Not too big a crowd out but they had a good time. Olive & I went down too the hall early & Walt Barth & Joe Moran audited the Rebekah books. Nell Nelson was supposed too be there but she had gone too Decorah. Had a letter from Ida.

Sat. July 4
Looked rainy quite a bit of the day but it only sprinkled a few times. Cooler. Cleared off late in P.M. & was nice. We went down too Arthur's for dinner. Dorothea & Gordon were here a few minutes in P.M.

Sun. July 5
Quite nice in A.M. but clouded up after dinner & it sure did rain hard at times. Kept it up until about 7 P.M. Cleared off in the nite. I went too church in A.M. Gladys A. & I went too Harmony about 5 P.M. too see Iva Sheley & Ernie Ward who are both in the Hospital with a heart ailment. Neither one are too good.

Nice day but cool. Rained some in P.M. Mon was at Arthur's hauling in hay bales. Ruth bro't the boys up about 5 & left them until about 8:30. She & Joyce were out getting money for the church. Dorothea R. & May W. were here a few minutes in P.M. Ernie Ward passed away about 3 A.M. Cold nite.

Wed. July 8
Nice day but cool all day. Mon was at Arthur's all day. I went too W.S.C.S. at Mary Wanless' in P.M. with Ruth. Good crowd out & a good lunch. Kate R. was here awhile after supper & Dean's were here a few minutes. Iona was after some flowers. I went down too Joyce H's in eve with Florence too practice for the funeral. Cool nite.

Nice day but cool all day. Mon was at Arthur's until about 3 P.M. I went too Ernie Ward's funeral in P.M. Ruth, Marlyn, Florence & I sang. "Old Rugged Cross" & "Eden Home". Large crowd out too the funeral. After the funeral Olive, Florence & I went with Ruth down too her house & got her mother & the boys & we went too Locust. Iona & Lelia entertained the Ladies Aide. Not too big a crowd out. They had such a nice lunch. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. Cold nite.

Nice day. Cool, but it did warm up some during the day but was cool at nite. I went up too Aunt Alice's in P.M. & helped tie & bind a comforter. Went down too Hilda's in eve too meet with the ladies too plan our W.S.C.S. dinner next week.

Sat. July 11
Quite a nice day & warmer. Mon was at Arthur's until after dinner. We went too Decorah awhile in P.M. Mon took me up too the Lutheran church about 4 P.M. The Club had an ice cream social on their lawn for the benefit of the cemetry. Good crowd out & we sold quite a lot of food. Mrs. Roy Miller passed away tonite.

Sun. July 12
Rained very hard in A.M. & most of the A.M. too. Brightened up in P.M. Didn't go too church. Mon went down too Arthur's early in A.M. & got a couple of young chickens & we dressed them & had one of them for dinner. Kate R. was down awhile in P.M. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show. "The Quiet Man". It was good.

Quite a nice day although it did look very stormy for a while in P.M. Was rather damp in A.M. Mon was at Dean's in P.M. I went too Mary Wanless's in P.M. A bunch of us put on a quilt, for the W.S.C.S., & we got quite a lot of it quilted. Mon went too Decorah in eve too Lodge. I went up too Rev. Arnold's to a meeting with the parsonage comm..

Wed. July 15
Dandy nice day. Much warmer. Mon was at Arthur's awhile in A.M. & then he was down there in P.M. baling until about 3:30. Ruth bro't the boys up about 11:30. She & Arthur were going too Mrs. Roy Miller's funeral. Ruth was a flower girl & Arthur hauled them. The funeral was at the M.E. church here in B.O. with the burial here too. The W.S.C.S. served lunch after the funeral. Arthur went home as soon as it was over & then Ruth came up here when they finished at the church & Arthur came up here after her & the boys. I was getting ready for W.S.C.S. this P.M.

Thurs. July 16
Nice day. Warm. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. & at Dean's in P.M. I helped entertain W.S.C.S. at the church today. Gladys A., Hilda R., Rosella H., Rosalie Yarwood & I. Not too big a crowd out. Took in $57.83. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show. Judy Canova in "Honey Chile". It was good. Rained hard in the nite.

Fri. July 17
Nice day & quite warm. We went down too Dean's awhile in A.M. & I went up in the woods & picked a few raspberries & gave them too Dean's. Mon & I went down again in P.M. & went up in the woods & picked berries. Didn't get too many but I canned 2½ pts. & had a good sized dish of sauce. Mowed the lawn after we got home. Went too the dance in eve. Charlie Olson played. Not too big a crowd out but had a good time. Last dance for awhile.

Sat. July 18
Nice day. Mon went down too Dean's early in A.M. too work but it was so wet they didn't start up so he came home & we went too Decorah. Got my hair fixed. Had dinner down town. We went down too Dean's awhile after we got home. I went down town a few minutes in eve.

Sun. July 19
Rained very hard early in A.M. Cleared off about 8 & was a nice day but warm. Arthur's came up after church & we went for a ride. Took our dinner along. Went up toward Rushford too look at a bull & Mon & Arthur bought one $225.00. We had our dinner at a church yard: Highland Prairie Lutheran Church. Regular park. It was so nice. Had a good dinner. Went on too Rushford & then on home by Lanesboro. Rained very hard from Rushford to Lanesboro. Got home about 4:30. Marion & Gloria Ann were here a few minutes about supper time. Went too Mabel in eve too the Show "Off Limits". It was funny.

Nice day. Plenty warm. Mon was at Dean's haying all day. I washed & ironed. We went too Lodge in eve. Not very many out. Had a letter from Isa. 7 lb. 13 oz. girl born too Ginny & Marvin this P.M. at the Decorah Hospital. Mother & daughter fine. Rained very hard in the nite. The new baby's name is Gail Linda.

Tues. July 21
Nice part of the day & cloudy at times too. Sprinkled some in P.M. Warm. Dean, Linda & Tommy were here a little while in A.M. We went down in the woods in P.M. & picked some berries. Went down too Arthur's in eve & got 10 young roosters.

Wed. July 22
Dandy nice day. We dressed the young roosters early in A.M. Mon went down too Arthur's about 10:30 too help round up some cattle too sell but they couldn't corral them. We took the chickens down too the locker in P.M. & Mon took me down too the Hospital too see Ginny & the baby. Ginny was setting up in a chair. The baby is nice. Jessie came while I was there. We went too Riceville in eve to a Square Dance. Ida, Raymond, Earl, Lloyd & Elanore went with us. They have a nice place too dance & there was a big crowd there. We got home about 1:15. JoAnn Emery passed away early this A.M.

Thurs. July 23
Nice day. Mon was at Dean's all day haying. They finished up there tonite. I pulled weeds & hoed in the garden until about 1:30. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge & I went too an ice cream Social on the Lutheran lawn put on by their society. Didn't stay up there very long. Too cold.

Nice day. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. helping him get in cattle too sell. He was home for dinner. He mowed lawn awhile & then we went down too Dean's. He & Dean went over too Arthur's awhile & then came back & got a jag of hay too put on their hay they had piled out side. I went up in the woods & picked berries. We stayed down there for supper. Mon finished mowing the lawn when we got home. I pulled weeds & hoed in the garden in A.M. JoAnn Emery's funeral was at the Lutheran Church in Decorah this P.M.

Sat. July 25
Nice day. We were at Arthur's almost all day. The man came down from Harmony about 9 A.M. & got the combine ready for work. They started combining a little while before dinner. Dean was there too. We came home about 4. Went down town awhile in eve. Started too rain about 11 & kept it up the rest of the nite. Quite a lot of thunder & lightning. Lightning struck the transformer at Arthur's & burned it out. Virginia & baby came out too Harry's this P.M.

Sun. July 26
Rained, rained, rained. Very hard at times & until about noon. Over 5 in. of rain fell. The creek was all over the pasture & up into our yard. Claude, Olive, Marion & Gloria Ann were here a few minutes late in P.M. A truce was signed in the Korean War at 7 P.M.

Dandy nice day & quite warm. Mon was at Arthur's all day helping him fix up fence that were taken out by the high water. I washed & ironed. Went up too Ada's awhile in P.M. Ruth & the boys & Dean, Linda & Tommy were here awhile in A.M.

Tues. July 28
Rather cloudy & damp at ties & the sun shone some too. Very muggy & close. We went down too Dean's in P.M. awhile. May & the kiddies were there. Stopped too see "Ginny" & the baby. LaVern & her boys were there too so got too see them also Mae W., & Rita & Mae's mother. Stopped at Arthur's awhile on our way home too. Went too Mabel in eve too the Show "Pa & Ma Kettle On Vacation". It was funny. Rained while we were in the Show & on the way home. More in the nite too.

Wed. July 29
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Sprinkled off & on during the day & the sun shone some too. Olive & I went up too see Iva S. in P.M. She came home from the hospital Monday. She doesn't look too good, but is up part of the time. We stopped too see Jane Gilbertson & also Mrs. Koenig on our way home. Rained in the nite.

Thurs. July 30
Another day of sprinkling off & on & some sun shine. We were up too Ada's for supper. Dr. & Norma were there too. Mon went too Lodge in eve. Phyllis W., Ruth, Fern & Shirley were here in eve planning the menu of the ice cream Social we are too have. Howard came with Mon when he came from Lodge & they stayed until about 11:30. The other girls went home earlier. Had a letter from Isa.

Fri. July 31
Dark part of the time but the sun shone most of the P.M. It was plenty warm in P.M. Mon helped Arthur in P.M. at combining. I went too Club in P.M. Maude J. entertained at the Lutheran church parlors. Not many out. Olive was sick in bed all day so she couldn't go. We mowed the lawn after I got home & after Mon did. Rained in the nite.

Sat. Aug. 1
Rather damp early in A.M. but cleared off. We went too Decorah about 9:30. It rained a couple of times going down & rained off & on all the time we were there. Sometimes quite hard. I got my hair fixed & Mon got a hair cut. We had a lunch down town & came home about 2:30. Came home by Dean's & got some eggs. It hadn't rained only a little in B.O. during the day. Very hot & muggy though. Kate was down awhile just before supper. Had a storm in the eve. Thunder & lightning & a hard wind. Plenty of rain again. Rained almost all nite I guess. Olive is a little better, but not up much yet.

Sun. Aug. 2
Rained very hard early in A.M. but quit later in A.M. & cleared off after dinner & was nice in P.M. Warm. I went too church. We went up too Rube Wilbur's for dinner. Bessie & Johnnie Johnson & Emma Ellingson [Firquastad?] & her husband were there. First time we girls had been together since we went too Valder's. Had a swell dinner & lunch & we had a big visit. Claire, [Letha?] & the girls were there for lunch. Got home about 6. Rained hard again in the nite. [Irn? Oraker?] came down early this A.M. & set out some shrubbery for us that we had bought of Snyders.

Mon. Aug. 3
Not very nice day again. Rained early in A.M. Sun did shine for awhile in P.M. but then about 4 P.M. it rained very hard again. Over an inch. Rained again in eve & nite. Creek was up this morning again. A lot of water in the cellar & it kept coming up all A.M. so Mon went down too Dean's about noon & got the pump too pump it out. Linda came home with him & had dinner with us. We washed the car after dinner with the hose & the water from the cellar. Dean & Tommy came up later & Linda went home with them. Went too Lodge in eve. Quite a few out. Iva Sheley had resigned as N.G. so we put in Ida Halse. Had a nice lunch.

Tues. Aug. 4
Not too nice & not too bad. Pumped water out of the cellar again this A.M. & then quit. Didn't get quite all of it out. Dean came up in P.M> & he took the pump home with him.

Wed. Aug. 5
Quite a nice day & still not too nice at times. I went up too see Iva in P.M. awhile. Went down too Muriel T's. in eve too a Stanley Party with Howard & Fern. Quite a few out & we had a good time. Good lunch too.

Thurs. Aug. 6
Quite a nice day. Ruth bro't the boys up in P.M. & left them while she went too Bazaar Boosters. Uncle Aaron came up this P.M. too stay here awhile. Dean & Tommy were up awhile in A.M. Mon & I went down too Arthur's awhile in eve.

Fri. Aug. 7
Nice day. Mon took me down too Arthur's about 12 too help Ruth. She, Iona & I had a Shower for Gail Linda Wicks. About 20 ladies there & a bunch of kiddies. Gail got many nice gifts. We served potato salad, sandwiches, cake, pickles & coffee. Had some fun playing games. Got home about 5:30. We went too Decorah too Lodge in eve. Fern & Gladys went with us. Ida & Raymond were down too & that's all from B.O. Postville bro't the traveling emblem too Decorah & there were Rebekahs there from Rossville, Cresco & Canton. We had a nice time & a good lunch.

Sat. Aug. 8
Nice day but cool. We went too Decorah a little after 9. Took Uncle Aaron to the Dr. Got home about 12. Ruth came up in P.M. too bring the chairs & trays, that we had yesterday, back to the church. The boys stayed here. We went down there later in P.M. & then on over too Dean's. Arthur started combining over home about 3:30. We stayed at Dean's until about 6. Mon had too go back too Decorah too get some repairs for our tractor as it refused too go. Uncle Aaron went down town after dinner & didn't come back. He went home with Richard Dinger.

Sun. Aug. 9
Nice day. I went too Lutheran church. "Ginny" had Gail Linda baptized today up there. Dean & Iona were sponsers. Tommy stayed with Mon. Large crowd out too church & quite a few of the relatives out too see Gail baptized. We went down too Dean's for dinner. Arthur combined there today. They bro't in one load of grain while we were there & it doesn't look very good. We came home about 4.

Quite a nice day. I washed & ironed. Canned some cuke pickles in P.M. Mon went down too Dean's in P.M. They finished combining there this P.M. I went down too Florence's in eve with Miriam too meet with the W.S.C.S. Annual dinner com. Ada went back up too Norma's this eve too stay.

Tues. Aug. 11
Not too nice a day. Rather cloudy & damp all day. Canned some apples & made some pickles.

Wed. Aug. 12
Dandy nice day. Canned peaches in A.M. Mon went too Arthur's in P.M. too help hay. I went too W.S.C.S. at Josephine Power's in P.M. with Gladys A. & came back with Miriam. Not too many out too the meeting. Had a nice lunch. Olive & Claude took Virginia & Gail too Rochester this P.M. to take the plane for Austin. She left Rochester at 2:19 & would get too Austin about 9:40. Had a letter from Isa.

The W.S.C.S. had an ice cream social at the church parlors. Started serving at 5:30 & got home a little after 10. Rode home with Florence. We had hot sandwiches, pickles, pie, ice cream & coffee. Nice day. Mon was at Arthur's all day. I went too Calmar in P.M. with Rev. Arnold's too a "Silver Tea" at the Don Meyer's new home. They have a beautiful home & there were quite a few out while we were there. Zoa & Gladys went along too. Got home about 6.

Sat. Aug. 15
Rather cloudy & a little damp in A.M. but cleared off & was nice in P.M. We went too Decorah in A.M. Got my hair fixed. Went down too Arthur's in P.M. They finished hauling in hay bales. Went up too Ada's a few minutes after we got home. They were down there for supper. Isa, Lester & Harlan came about 6:30 & were here a few minutes. They were just out for a ride they said. We went down town in eve. I went over too see Josie & Genev awhile.

Nice day. Went too church in A.M. Charles & Helen were here a little while in P.M. They have a new car & were trying too get some mileage on it before they leave on their vacation on Thurs. They are going too California. We went up too Howard R's awhile in eve.

Nice day. I washed & ironed. Dean was here awhile in P.M. Went too Lodge in eve. Decorah bro't the Presidents Emblem up & we had people from Postville, Cresco & Canton also besides Decorah. Had quite a crowd. Had a program after Lodge & then supper.

Tues. Aug. 18
Dandy nice day. We went down too Dean's & Arthur's in A.M. Also got some apples at Elsie's. I went too Decorah in P.M. with Howard & Fern. Fern had her eyes tested for glasses. Muriel, Miriam & Florence were here in eve & we finished planning the Annual dinner. I gave Miriam $1 toward the dinner.

Dandy nice day. I helped Olive cook for threshers in A.M. Went up too the church in P.M. A bunch of us ladies met & painted the old steel chairs. Mon went too Decorah in A.M. too see Dr. about his ears. He is getting so deaf he can hardly hear anything. He went down town awhile in eve.

Dandy nice day. Mon was at Arthur's helping hay in P.M. He went too Lodge in eve. Mon went too Decorah too the Dr. in A.M.

Fri. Aug. 21
Dandy nice day. Mon went too Arthur's early in A.M. & I rode down town with him & got a pickle recipe from Mabel K. Mon came home at noon as Arthur's were going too the Fair. Dean's bro't Tommy up here & left him in P.M. while they went too the Fair. We went down too Arthur's after supper & Mon helped Arthur put a couple of loads of hay bales in the barn. Joyce, Wayne & Shela Meer came before we left.

Dandy nice day. Plenty warm. Mon was at Arthur's haying today. I dug up a place too plant some iris bulbs in A.M. & did odd jobs in P.M. Went up too the church in eve too talk about getting the basement painted.

Dandy nice warm day again. Mon was at Arthur's awhile in A.M. & then he came home & then went too Decorah too the Dr. again. He went back too Arthur's in P.M. They finished haying there this P.M.

Thurs. Aug. 27
Dandy nice day. Warm & quite windy. We went too Cresco in P.M. too the Fair. Not too much going on in P.M. We went up in the grand stand in P.M. & saw what there was too see. Free grand stand in P.M. Decorah Kiltie's were there & performed. We went up in the grand stand again in eve too watch [Ant?] Sevenson's Dare Devils etc. Quite exciting. Very large crowd in eve. We came home shortly after the program was over.

Hot day again. We went too Decorah in A.M. Mon back too the Dr. I went too Club in P.M. with Charlene at Marlyn K's. Not too many out. Had such a good lunch. Mon mowed the lawn just before & after supper. We went down too Dean's in eve awhile. Had 2 letters from Isa.

Dandy nice day again & plenty warm. Canned pickles in A.M. & cleaned up the floors. Mon has such a cold he feels pretty bum.

Had a nice rain early in A.M. IT rained quite hard but not enough too do too much good. Cleared off later in A.M. & was nice. Pretty warm. I went too church. Mon feels a little better. Ruth called that she had too take Danny too the Dr. early this A.M. He had infection in both of his ears too & doesn't feel very good. Anita B. sent me a box of tomatoes this morning.

Nice warm day again although it wasn't quite as warm in A.M. & then it cooled off some in eve. I sure felt bum all day. Mon went too the Dr. in P.M. He also got a hair cut down town. Arthur was here awhile in P.M. & we went down there a little while after supper. Danny feels good now.

Nice day but it got much cooler. Did rain some in P.M. but not enough too do much good. Mon & I went too Harmony for a little while in P.M. & then on down too Dean's. Rained harder later in P.M. Mon went too Lodge.

Not too bad a day but cool. Dean bro't the tractor up too Gordon's this A.M. too have it overhauled. Mon was there most of the day helping Gordon. We went down too Arthur's a little while in P.M.

About 35 this morn but it did warm up during the day. Nice day. I washed & ironed. Gordon finished overhauling the tractor in P.M. & Mon bro't it up here. Then Wallace bro't Dean up here after it & they were here for awhile. Mon took Uncle Aaron down to John Kipp's early in A.M. but nobody home. Ruth & Francis came up in P.M. & were here for supper & went too Lodge with us. They came back up here then & stayed until about 11.

Tues. Sept. 8
Nice day. Uncle Aaron came early this morning for Mon too take him too John Kipp's again. They were back about 9:30. Mon went back too the Dr. about 10. Albert, Florence & I went up too Gordon Johnson's in eve too see about our turkeys & then on too Hesper. Rained a little in eve. Quite a lot of thunder & lightning but didn't amount too much.

Nice day but the breeze was cool all day & eve. Uncle Aaron came up early in A.M. for Mon too take him back to Kipps. He stayed down there this time. We went down too Dean's awhile after Mon got home. Went too W.S.C.S. at Miriam's in P.M. with Ruth. Not too many out. Good lunch. Olive & I went too a "Stork Shower" in eve at Lillian's for Mrs. Harold Barth. Big crowd & she got lovely things. Had a very good lunch.

Nice day. Cool. We went too Decorah in A.M. Mon had too go back to the Dr. Andy Wenthold came in P.M. with some work for the trustees so Mon was gone most of the P.M.

Fri. Sept. 11
Nice day. Warmer. Mon was down at Arthur's in A.M. & he stopped at Lester Bronner's on his way home. Lester is having his yard graded. Mon went too Dean's in P.M. too hay & Olive & I rode down there with him. We went over too Arthur Walter's with Ruth to a "Stork Shower" for Verna Walter Sampson. Not too many out but she got such nice gifts. We had a swell lunch. We stopped at Dean's then when we came back & waited until Mon was ready too come home. They were haying at Dean's. Si & LaVern were there so Iona couldn't go too the Shower. I went too the dance at the hall in eve with Claude's. Henry didn't feel like going. "Ace Hi Buddies" played. They were pretty good but more new time.

Nice day. Quite warm. We started painting the sitting room early this morn. Worked at it all day & got it pretty well done. I went up too the church basement in eve with Norma P. Dr. made a pie cup board for our W.S.C.S. Inez W., Ruth & Bill & Dean's were here awhile in P.M.

Wed. Sept. 16
Dandy nice day & quite warm. I went up too the church basement about 8:30 & was there until 10:30. We are having the basement redecorated & some of us went up too see how we wanted things placed. Mon painted while I was gone & I started as soon as I got home. We finished up about 2:30 & then we took the old rug up & I scrubbed the floor. Dean's came about 5 & were here a little while. They left Linda here & took Tommy up too La Vern's. They are leaving on a fishing trip early tomorrow morn. Florence, Margaret, Muriel & Miriam were here in eve finishing up the business of our annual dinner. Power was off from about 5 until after 8 P.M.

Thurs. Sept. 17
Nice day but very windy. Mon took Linda too school. We went too Decorah in A.M. & got a new rug for the sitting room $22.85. We put it down in P.M. & then Mon went down too Dean's too see about the water & he bro't Linda home from school. We went down awhile in eve. Mon went too Lodge & Linda & I came home before he did.

Not too nice a day. Dark in A.M. & rained most of P.M. Not too hard but just a steady rain. Didn't soak down too far either. Mon took Linda too school. I went up too the church for awhile early in A.M. Arthur & Ruth went too Austin early in A.M. & left Bill here. He stayed with Mon until I got home from the church. Went went after Linda & Danny in P.M. Arthur's came about 4. Iona called about 7 too see how the kiddies were. Si & Lavern & Tommy stopped here a minute about 5:30.

Nice day. Warmer. We went up too the church in A.M. & took the old rug that we had had here in the old dining room put it down in the west room up stairs. Linda & I went back up there in P.M. Some of the ladies were there & we washed & put the dishes in the cupboards & scrubbed the floor in the dining room part. We went down town awhile in eve. Olive & Claude went too Marie's this morning.

Our 37th Wedding Anniversary. Rained for awhile early in A.M. but cleared off about 9 & was a nice day but windy & the wind was chilly. Ruth came up & got Linda & took her too S.S. with them. I went too church. Si's bro't Tommy down & left him here for the day. We went for a ride in P.M. Dean's came about 7. Clyde's went with them. They had, had a good time but no luck fishing.

30º this morn. Everything covered with frost. Nice day but windy. Warmed up. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. & until about 1:30. I went up too the church basement & worked in P.M. Went back again in eve with Dr. & Norma & Dr. finished the pie shelves. They are very nice. Olive & Claude came home this P.M.

Wed. Sept. 23
Nice day & quite warm. Did cloud up late in P.M. & rained some in eve. We went up too the church in A.M. & did a few things. Went up there again in P.M. Mon & I went too Hesper right after dinner & got the turkeys (15) from [Noral?] Burreson's, who had dressed them for us. A bunch of the women came too the church & we stuffed the turkeys & did other work. Miriam, Muriel & I took the turkeys too Harmony about 4:30 too have them roasted.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. We went too Decorah about 8 A.M. Katherine Donlan went with us. Got my hair fixed. Went up too the church about 2:30. Worked like the dickens from then on the rest of the P.M. & eve. We had our Annual Dinner starting at 5 P.M. Large crowd & we were plenty busy. Had a nice dinner. Had quite an electrical storm about 9 P.M. Sprinkled some. Got home about 10.

Rather dark cloudy cool day. Mon was at Dean's all day shocking corn. I went up too the church about 8:30 & helped clean up the mess. Got home about 12. Went too Club at Donna Kruse's in P.M. with Lettie W. Had a (stork shower) for Joyce Baker. Had a swell lunch. Quite a few out.

Nice day. We went too Decorah about 10. Mon went too the Dr. & he is O.K. so he doesn't have too go back again. We went down town awhile in eve.

Nice day. I went too church in A.M. & Mon went down to Joe Wilhelm's fishing in P.M. Got 49 & some were nice & big. We went too Harmony in eve to the Show. "The Kid From Left Field". It was good.

Edna was there & a number of the ladies met there & ordered Xmas cards. We had a nice lunch. Miriam, Florence, Margaret & Muriel were here in eve & we revised the Annual Dinner menu.

Quite a warm windy day but it was cloudy at times. I washed the plastic curtains of the kitchen & some other things & did my ironing. Canned 2½ qts of tomatoes in P.M. Mon was at Deans' all day.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Mon was at Dean's all day painting. I went up too Aunt Alice's in P.M. & helped put on a quilt & marking it, getting ready too quilt. I went with Ruth in eve too choir practice at Howard Rollin's & then we went on from there too Prosper too the Neighbor Hood Bazaar & Lunch. They had such nice things too sell & a good lunch. First World Series Ball Game this P.M. N.Y. Yankees & Brooklyn Dodgers. Yanks – 9 Dodgers 5.

Nice day. A little cooler & quite windy. Mon was at Dean's all day again. I was at Aunt Alice's awhile in A.M. & P.M. helping quilt. Zoa was there in P.M. Listened too part of the World Series Ball game. Y's – 4 D's – 2. Mon went too Lodge in eve.

Beautiful day. Quite warm. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. I was at Aunt Alice's quilting awhile in A.M. Listened to the ball game after dinner D-3 Y 2. Mon came home during the game & after the game we went too Decorah. Came home by Dean's & got some eggs. Didn't get home until about 7. Went too the dance in eve. Not too many out had a good time. Charlie Olson played. Quite a lot of lightning when we came home but it didn't rain.

Looked rainy off & on all day. Thundered quite a lot in A.M. but it didn't rain. Got colder in P.M. & then wind blew. Ruth & the boys were here awhile in P.M. Mon stayed at the "Station" for Gordon awhile in P.M. Listened too the World Series D-7, Y-3.

Nice day but got terribly windy. Clouded up late in P.M. & looked rainy & the wind got around into the north & it got much cooler. Mon was at Dean's painting. I washed & ironed. Went up too Aunt Alice's awhile in P.M. & helped quilt. Mon went up & got Fern & Shirley R. about 7 P.M. We took Shirley down too Arthur's to choir practice & the rest of us went too Lodge. Quite a few out. Had a nice lunch. We took Fern & Shirley home. Cool nite & the wind sure blew. Had a letter from Isa. Last game of the World Series this P.M. Yanks won 4 to 3.

Tues. Oct. 6
Rather a dark day & cool. Dean & Tommy came up in A.M. & Mon went too Mabel with Dean. Tommy stayed with me. I helped quilt awhile at Aunt Alice's in P.M. Florence Wernett & Arland Patterson were married at the Harmony church this P.M. We were invited but Mon wouldn't go.

Wed. Oct. 7
Hard frost this A.M. but warmed up. Nice day but quite windy. Mon was at Dean's awhile in A.M. but was home for dinner. He went up too Lennie Whalen's too see about selling the old bull, just after dinner. He hauled up a load of wood from Dean's in P.M. I dug my glad's in P.M. Mon went down town awhile in eve.

Thurs. Oct. 8
Dandy nice day. Cool early in A.M. but warmed up a lot. We went down too Bill Leonharts early in A.M. too get some walnuts but there were none there. Stopped at Deans & helped shuck walnuts, they had, in the corn sheller & they gave us a pail full. Mon went up in the woods & picked up a pail of butter nuts too. He went back down too Dean's too paint in P.M. I went down too the post office about 2:30 & was there until after 5 trying too learn the ropes as I am going too stay there when Alice takes her vacation.

Fri. Oct. 9
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. helping get some cattle in too sell etc. He was home for dinner but went back down there in P.M. I scrubbed the bedroom & sitting room floors & waxed them. Went up too Aunt Alice's a while in P.M. quilting & then went down too the Post office awhile. Gertie Grazier Olson, her husband sister-in-law & her husband were here for awhile in A.M.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. We went too Decorah about 8:30. I got my hair fixed & Mon got his cut. I bought a new pair of shoes (12.19) & a couple of every day dresses & some other things. Went down too the P.O. about 2 & was there until after 5.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. I went too church in A.M. Dean brought Tommy too stay with Mon while they went too church. We went down too Arthur's for dinner. Billy's 4th Birthday. Dean's & Krumms were there too. We had a good dinner & lunch.

Iona, Linda & Tommy came early as Dean was going over to Locust & they were the last too leave. Had some good stunts. (Viola Stevens) Got too bed about 11:30. Chas. Burgess passed away tonite.

Dandy nice day only rather windy. I was at the P.O. in A.M. & P.M. We sold the old sows today & Mon was down too Dean's in A.M. helping get them corralled.

Wed. Oct. 14
Dandy nice day. Plenty warm. I was at the P.O. in A.M. Went too W.S.C.S. at Charlene's in P.M. with Ruth. Quite a few out & we had a nice lunch. Set out some tulip bulbs when I got home.

Thurs. Oct. 15
Dandy nice warm day. About 90 at noon. I started working at the P.O. today. Alice is taking a vacation at home. Ben isn't very good. I went up too the Lutheran church after 6 after work too their turkey dinner. Big crowd & a swell meal. Went down town from there & as Mon was down town came home with him. I work at the P.O. from 9 A.M. too 6 P.M. with an hour off at noon.

Dandy nice warm day again. Mon was at Dean's all day fixing fence. I was at the P.O. Chas. Burgess was buried at Bluffton this P.M.

Sat. Oct. 17
Cloudy off & on during the day. Sprinkled off & on for awhile in P.M. & then cleared off. I was at the P.O. all day. Mon went too Decorah in A.M. He sold our old bull in P.M. too Lennie Whalen for $225.00.

Very nice in A.M. Warm. Clouded up about 2 P.M. & sprinkled off & on in P.M. Had quite an electrical storm at supper time & then on into the eve & it rained harder. I went too church in A.M. We went for a ride in P.M. Went over too Cresco & then over the new road too Protovin then on to Spillville & on out too 52 & on home.

I got up about 5 A.M. & did my washing before breakfast.

Mon was at Arthur's awhile in A.M. but was home for dinner. He was down there again in P.M. We went down town in eve awhile. Mon went to Lodge. Tom Matthews died early this A.M.

Mon. Nov. 2
Nice day but it got terribly windy in P.M. & again in eve & nite. We went too Decorah about 8, stopped at Dean's a few minutes on our way. I got a permanent. We got home about 1:30. Mon went down too Dean's awhile in P.M. I went too Lodge in eve. Quite a few out. Hazel Houdeck & [Lolla?] Grant were up from Decorah also Ruth Holt. Hazel gave her report from Grand Lodge & Rebekah Assembly. Had a lunch.

Nice day. Quite warm & some windy but not as bad as yesterday. I washed & ironed. We went too Decorah about 9:30. Dean & Tommy went. Dean was up to the garage too get his pick up fixed & had to have repairs so we all went. They were here for dinner. Mon went down there in P.M. & they started building a fence around the corn field. Had a letter from Isa.

Wed. Nov. 4
About 20 this morn. Nice day but very cool early in A.M. Did warm up some during the day. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. We went too Decorah in P.M. I went too Dr. Borenmeyer & had my eyes tested. Mon went down town awhile in eve. Cold nite.

Thurs. Nov. 5
10º this morn. Nice bright day but cool. Did a little of everything & not much of anything. Odd jobs. Dean's went too La Crosse today so there was no work at the fence. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went down too Ruth's with Phyllis & Fern too plan the lunch for our Bazaar. Frank Snell died unexpectedly tonite. Cold nite.

Fri. Nov. 6
10º this morn. Nice day but cool. Lucy, Merlin & Bernell Snell were here a few minutes early in A.M. Dean & Tommy were here awhile too & then Mon went to Prosper with them & got some posts. He went on down there then & was there the rest of the day fencing. Ruth & Bill were here awhile in P.M. Cold nite.

15º this morn. Nice day. Some warmer. Mon was at Dean's part of the A.M. They finished the fence. We went too Decorah in P.M. Got my new glasses. ($32). Dark blue rims & bows. Very nifty!! Went down town awhile in eve.

Nice day. Cool wind. I went too church in A.M. Mon went down to Dean's & Arthur's a little while in A.M. We went too Mabel in eve to the Show "Return to Paradise". It was good. Cold nite.

Mon. Nov. 9
10º this morn. Nice day. Quite warm. Mon was at Dean's all day hauling in fodder. I went up too Lucy Snells about 1:15 with Charlene. Frank was buried this P.M. & the W.S.C.S. served lunch at the house after the funeral to the relatives & friends. Must have been around 150. So much food brought in. Got home about 5:30. Rode home with Ruth.

Tues. Nov. 10
Nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon was at Dean's all day. They finished hauling in the fodder & got the cattle in the corn stalks. Mon went down town in eve.

Wed. Nov. 11
Nice day. Mon was around home part of the day. We filled up the cellar window early in A.M. & got that ready for winter. He went down town awhile in A.M. He went down too Arthurs awhile in P.M. I went to Hazel Harvey's in P.M. with Florence to W.S.C.S. Not too big a crowd out. We finished planning our bazaar. Had a nice lunch.

Nice day. We went too Decorah about 9 A.M. I stopped off at the Clinic & Mon went on over town. He got his hair cut. I got through at the Clinic about 12 & walked over town. We came home shortly afterward. Went down town in eve.

Fri. Nov. 13
Nice day. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. for some eggs. Tommy came home with us & Dean bro't up a pick up load of wood for us. They just got that unloaded when Ray Casterton came with a load of slab wood for us. Went too the dance in eve. Quite a few out. Had a pretty good time. Bert Yates Orchestra played. They were not too good.

Sat. Nov. 14
Nice day. Quite warm. We went too Decorah about 10:45. Got my hair fixed. Got home about 2:30. Terrible accident down by Willard Chases in the nite. 3 F.B.I. men from Chicago were killed & 1 badly hurt. Bob Breitsprecher, Paul & Marvin McConnell crashed into the F.B.I. car coming from the east from Matters onto the paving. They were all hurt too.

Nice day. Quite warm. I went too church in A.M. Ruth, Dan & Bill were here a few minutes in P.M. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show. Jimmie Stewart in "Thunder Bay". It was good.

Very nice day. Warm. I washed & ironed. Dean & Tommy were here a little while in A.M. Mon started painting the ceiling of the kitchen in P.M. Went too Lodge in eve. Had lunch. I was on the supper comm.

Tues. Nov. 17
Nice day. Quite warm & rather windy. Mon painted in A.M. We went down & got Ruth & Bill about 1 P.M. & bro't them up too the church where the ladies of the community had a farewell party for Rosalie Yarwood. Mon went too Dean's too saw wood. Not too large a crowd out to the party. Had a short program & a swell lunch. Arthur came after Ruth & Bill. Mon went down town in eve awhile. Had a letter from Isa.

Wed. Nov. 18
Beautiful day. Nice & warm. We went too Decorah about 10. I went back too the Clinic. Got out of there about 11:30 & walked over town. We got home then about 12. Mon finished painting the ceiling in P.M.

Thurs. Nov. 19
Rained off & on all day & sometimes quite hard also all evening & most of the nite. Not cold. I went up too the church in P.M. & helped get the articles put up for our Bazaar tonite. Mon took me. Rode home with Florence & Albert & then back up to the church with them about 6:30. Had a pretty good crowd out too the Bazaar in spite of the rain & things went good. Wennes & Halvorson were the auctioneers. Had a lunch afterward. Got home about 11:30. Rode home with Howard's.

Fri. Nov. 20
Changeable day. Sun shone some, rained some & even a few snow flakes fell in eve. Mon took me up too the church a little after 9 & I helped clean up the dishes etc. Worked at the P.O. in P.M. Alice & Ben went too Decorah. I went too Decorah too Lodge in eve with Joe & Iona. They initiated 5 members. The work was swell. Had a nice lunch afterward. Got colder tonite.

Cooler day & partly cloudy. Didn't do too much. Mon went down too Arthur's a little while in A.M.

Rather a cloudy day. Cooler. I went too church in A.M. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show. Francis Covers the Big Town. It was funny.

Nice & bright most of the day but it did cloud up later in P.M. Cleared off in eve though. I washed. We painted most of the walls in the kitchen in P.M. I ironed in eve.

Tues. Nov. 24
Rather a dark day & cool. We painted walls in the kitchen today. Went down too Dean's about 3:30 for some eggs. Danny & Linda rode home from school with us. We stopped at Arthur's a minute too.

Wed. Nov. 25
Not too nice a day again. We finished painting the kitchen today. Did some getting ready for tomorrow. Paul, Marie & the kiddies came too Claudes tonite about 11.

Thurs. Nov. 26
Not too bad in A.M. but it snowed enough in P.M. so that everything was white with snow & the pavement got slippery late in P.M. We were at Claudes for turkey dinner. Marion's & Mr. Narveson, Dell's, Arthur's & Dean's were there. We each took something too eat & we sure had a good dinner & lunch. Leonard got the turkey. Paul's went home about 5.

Fri. Nov. 27
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Varnished the dining table, my work table & the pedestal. Didn't go too the dance in eve.

Sat. Nov. 28
Rather dark early in A.M. but cleared off about noon. Clouded up again in P.M. & started too snow about 5:30. Chilly day. Mon took me up too the church a little after 9 & we moved tables, chairs & benches out so we could clean up the floor. Miriam, Florence, Elsie & I mopped up the floors in the basement. We went too Decorah in P.M. awhile. Chilly down there. Had a letter from Isa.

Sun. Nov. 29
Not too nice a day. Chilly but still the snow & ice thawed off the paving in P.M. I went too church in A.M. We were alone the rest of the day & nite.

Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. We went down too Dean's late in P.M. after some eggs. Got our lard that Dean had brought up from Decorah for us.

Tues. Dec. 1
Quite a nice day. I tried out lard, washed windows & did odd jobs. Mon stayed at the station in A.M. for Gordon. We went up too Catherine H's late in P.M. after the Club dishes. Rained some in the nite & took most of the snow.

Wed. Dec. 2
Rather a dark day. I worked out doors quite a while in A.M. Put leaves on the tulip bed, covered the roses, burned papers etc. Wiped up the floors in the bed room & sitting room & waxed them. Rained in eve.

Thurs. Dec. 3
Not very nice day. Rained off & on all day & sometimes quite hard. Not cold. Had quite a bit of thunder & lightning late in eve & more rain. Made & baked quite a few buns in P.M. Olive was over & helped me awhile. Went down town awhile in eve. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. Dec. 4
Not very nice day again. Snowed for awhile early in A.M. Not cold then but got much colder later in A.M. & the wind blew quite hard. Olive was over & helped me awhile in A.M. I had Club in P.M. Not too big a crowd out but still pretty good. Iona & Tommy were up. Iona made the cakes for me. The gold cakes rolled in peanuts. Everyone had a spell over them. I had escalloped tuna, buns, pickles & coffee. Dean bro't Linda up after school. Dave & Merle were in & had lunch. Mon went down town.

Sat. Dec. 5
Rather a dark chilly day. We went too Decorah about 10:30. Got my hair fixed. We got home about 1:30. I did some baking in P.M. It rained very hard in eve & then got colder in the nite & snowed some.

Sun. Dec. 6
Not very nice day until late in P.M. it cleared off some. Chilly day. Arthur's & Dean's were here for dinner. Iona's Birthday. Ruth had too go to Decorah in P.M. to practice for the Messiah so Arthur & the boys rode home with Dean's about 4. Pearl Rosendahl called Olive about 9 that something was wrong at Leonards & for them to come at once, so they went. He had been caught between the tractor & a log he was hauling to the house since about 4:30 yesterday P.M. & couldn't make any one hear him calling until then. They took him right too the Hospital. His toes & fingers & face were frozen & he was badly bruised. Claudes came home at noon for a little while & they were here for dinner.

Mon. Dec. 7
Quite a nice day. I washed in A.M. We went down too the Hospital in P.M. too see Leonard. They had taken the Xray pictures this P.M. & his left shoulder blade is broken, 1 rib & a number of ribs are hurt. He doesn't look very good but says he isn't too bad. I ironed after we got home. Went too Lodge in eve. Good crowd out. Had Nom. & Election of officers. Gladys A. N.G. Dorothea R. V.G., Elanore D. Sec. & myself treas. Had a nice lunch. Isadore called up tonight too see how Leonard was.

Tues. Dec. 8
Not too nice a day. Rather dark & cool. Snowed a little. Didn't do much. Leonard is about the same.

Wed. Dec. 9
Not too nice a day. Sun did shine a little in P.M. but it snowed for a while in A.M. I went too W.S.C.S. at Alice Wilbur's in P.M. with Rosella H. Christmas party. Quite a few out. I got a couple of dog heads for hanging on the wall. Had a good lunch. Every one took lunch. I rode home with Ruth. Mon had gone down & brought Danny up here from school. Leonard is about the same.

Rather a dark day again. Windy & chilly although the sun did shine some. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went down town. They set Leonards shoulder today & put an "aeroplane splint" on it. Taped up his ribs too. He sat up a few minutes this P.M.

Fri. Dec. 11
Dandy nice day. The wind was rather strong & it was a little chilly but still it was a nice day. We went down town in P.M. Mon got a hair cut. I rode down to the Hospital with Babe & Virginia Dinger. Went too see Leonard. He was sitting up & looked some better because Marion had given him a shave but still he doesn't look very good. Went in too see Jimmie Dinger too. He is in the Decorah Hospital now. Went too the dance in eve. Little Vince's Orchestra. They are good music. Pretty good crowd out & a good time.

Sat. Dec. 12
Not too bad a day. Didn't do much. Leonard is better in some ways.

Sun. Dec. 13
Snowed quite hard early in A.M. but quit about 10. Pavement was slippery early in A.M. but started too thaw about noon & all the ice left then. I went too church in A.M. We went down too Arthur's in P.M. for Danny's Birthday which is tomorrow. Had some of his Birthday cake & a nice lunch. I went over too Claude's awhile after we got home. Leonard is about the same.

Mon. Dec. 14
Not very nice in A.M. Quite snowy & blustery but not too cold. Cleared off & was nice in P.M. Claude's were at the Hospital most of the day. They brought Leonard home with him. The Dr's had too take the splint off so they just put his arm in a sling. We were over there in eve.

Tues. Dec. 15
Snowed quite hard in A.M. but was quite nice in P.M. Got much colder later in P.M. Claude's took Leonard too Iowa City this morning too enter the Vet's Hospital too see what they can do with his shoulder. They stayed down.

Wed. Dec. 16
10º below this morning. Nice bright day but cold & windy. Didn't warm up very much. I washed in A.M. Went too the Lutheran church in P.M. to their Xmas party. Got a nice gift from Marie Jaarstad & had a nice lunch. Vin & Mable Kimber were married 50 years today.

Thurs. Dec. 17
20º below. Nice day but cold. Warmed up some & the wind didn't blow as hard. Rather quiet. We went down too Dean's awhile in P.M. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went over too Lillian's too practice for Sun.

Fri. Dec. 18
Not too bad a day. I went too Club in P.M. at Fern's with Merle & Elsie. Christmas party. Quite a few out. I got 3 pretty handkfs from Audry Stead who is here from Cal. for Christmas. Had such a good lunch. Mon went too Decorah a little while in P.M. There was a benefit dance at the hall in eve for Leonard W. Good crowd out. Volunteer music & everyone bro't lunch so the money taken in was all his. Over $100. Had a good time.

Sat. Dec. 19
Quite a nice day. We went too Decorah in A.M. Got my hair fixed. Large crowd in town.

Sun. Dec. 20
Not too nice a day. Dark & damp but not cold. Went too church in A.M. Went too the hall in P.M. too Mable & Vin's 50th Wedding anniversary. Some of us women put on a mock wedding. Good crowd out. Had a lunch too. Olive & I went to the Lutheran church in eve to their Christmas program. It was very good. Rained some in eve & nite.

Rained in A.M. & was dark & damp all day. Not so cold in A.M. but got colder later in P.M. Wind blew hard all day & nite. Dean's went too Lester Young's Sale about 10:30 & left Tommy here. Mon & Tommy went & got Linda about 1:45. We made candy & had lots of fun. Went to Lodge in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. Dec. 22
Windy cold day but the sun shone most of the time. We went too Decorah in A.M. I made candy in P.M.

Wed. Dec. 23
Nice day. Rather cold in the morn. but warmed up during the day. I washed & ironed. Went up to the M.E. church in eve to the Christmas program. Large crowd out & they had a very good program. Rode home with Howard's. Leonard came home from Iowa City this eve. He doesn't have too go back.

Beautiful day. Quite warm. We were at Arthur's for dinner. Dean's & Louie's were there too. Ruth had goose. We each took food too. Got our gifts after dinner. I got a nice roaster & fruit juice glasses. Had a swell dinner & a good time. Had lunch before we came home.

Nice day. Rather windy. Didn't do too much. Dean's were here a minute after dinner. We went down town awhile in eve.

Sun. Dec. 27
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Went too church in A.M. Uncle Aaron came in P.M. & wanted too stay so we went down too Freeport & got his things & bro't them up here. I went too Locust in eve with Dean's & Ruth to their Christmas program. It was good & a very large crowd out. Had a nice lunch afterward. Rather windy in eve & nite.

Quite nice early in A.M. but clouded up later. Sun shone off & on during the day. Wind got around to the north late in P.M. & got colder & the wind blew harder. I washed & ironed. Mon went down town awhile in eve.

Not too bad a day & still not too good. Rather dark.

Quite a nice day. We went too Decorah a little while in A.M. I cleaned up the floors & did some baking in P.M. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge.
