Tues. Jan. 1
Beautiful bright day but it was cold all day & a cold nite. We were alone all day. Didn't go too the Show in eve.

Wed. Jan. 2
10º below. Quite a nice day. Warmed up some. I washed in A.M. We went down too Dean's awhile in P.M. I ironed in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Thurs. Jan. 3
Quite a nice day. Not too cold. Mon worked all day tearing off plaster in the kitchen part. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. Jan. 4
Not too bad a day. Looked like it might snow at most any time & it did snow some in P.M. but not much. Not too cold. We went down too Arthur's awhile in A.M. & Mon helped Arthur sort out some hogs too sell. Dean & Linda came up just after dinner & were here a little while. One of the heifers we just bought is sick so Mon went down there for awhile. Olive was over a while in P.M. The cow died late in P.M. We went down there then & Mon helped get her out of the barn. We stayed for supper. Arthur's were over too. Had a good supper & a good time. Came home about 10:[30?]. Mon worked at the kitchen until we went too Arthur's.

Sat. Jan. 5
Quite a nice day. We went too Decorah about 10:30. Got my hair fixed. Mrs. Lovlien rode home from Decorah with us. Went down town in eve.

Sun. Jan. 6
Nice day. Some warmer. We were alone all day but Claude's came over & spent the eve.

Mon. Jan. 7
Quite a nice day. Quite a wind from the south. Not too cold. Ole was here all day & they worked at the room. Henry had too go too Prosper in A.M. too order the stuff too put on before the plastering & they bro't it down right away so they got some of that put on too. Went too Lodge in eve. Decorah ladies were up & installed our new officers 11 from Decorah. Nellie Nelson N.G. Ida H. V.G. Mabel, Dorothea & Alyce W. went back into the same offices. We had a lunch afterward. Quite a few out. Wilma was there with the new baby. She is surely nice. Got home about 11:30. Snowed about 3 or 4 in. in the nite.

Tues. Jan. 8
Rather a dark day. Ole was here again today. They finished tearing off the last of the lath & plaster & got every thing ready too go right ahead putting on the dope. I went too the Show in eve. Mon went too bed. "My Blue Heaven". Pretty good show & a good crowd. The younger son of Bill Carolan's name was called so he got $20.

Wed. Jan. 9
Quite a nice day. Wind came up in eve & blew quite hard. Drifted the snow some but the wind went down in the nite. Raymond Y. & Ole helped Mon all day. They put on the gypsum lath. I went too W.S.C.S. at Elsie's with Albert's. Not too many out. Arthur was here a few minutes just before dinner & Dean's were here a little while after dinner.

Thurs. Jan. 10
Not too bad a day but chilly. Raymond came again today. They finished up the job about 3. Ole was here a couple of hrs. in A.M. & a little while in P.M. but he was drinking & didn't care about working. Luella was here awhile in P.M. waiting for Raymond too get through. Went down town in eve. The W.S.C.S. served lunch at Mrs. Gjetly's Sale but I didn't go up. Too chilly too stand around.

Fri. Jan. 11
Dandy nice day. Thawed quite a little. I spent most of the day scrubbing floors & trying too clean up a little. Went too the dance in eve. Large crowd out. Dewey Golberg's played. Had a good time.

Sat. Jan. 12
Dandy nice day. Thawed quite a little. We went too Decorah about 12. & got home about 4:30. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up in eve & left them while they went too Matters too a dance. They came after Tommy about 1:30 but they left Linda all nite. We were down there early in A.M. after some meat.

Sun. Jan. 13
Not very nice day but not too bad either. Rather dark but not too cold. Linda stayed for dinner & then Dean came & got her. Arthur's bro't the boys up just after dinner & left them while they went too Decorah too the Show. They came after them about 4:30.

Mon. Jan. 14
A heck of a day. Quite foggy when we got up & then it started too rain about 8 A.M. & kept it up all day. Sometimes quite hard. Had quite an electrical storm in A.M. too. Quit raining in eve & got some colder. Wind blew quite hard in eve & part of the nite. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. Jan. 15
Rather a dark day but not too cold. Rather slippery. I washed. Clothes didn't dry too well. Dean came up after dinner & was here awhile. He & Mon went too Prosper & got some plaster. Went too the Show in eve "Woman of Distinction". It was funny. Pretty good crowd for the slippery roads. No one got the money.
Gas tank went dry.

Wed. Jan. 16
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Not too cold. Didn't do too much.

Thurs. Jan. 17
Dark in A.M. & quite blizzardy at times. Cleared off in P.M. & was quite nice. Wind blew quite hard for awhile but it went down some in P.M. Bill Dinger & Bert Moen came about 9:30 & plastered. They got through about 3:30. (22.00). I went up too the church in P.M. too the business meeting of the W.S.C.S. Didn't get too go too the dinner. Went down town in eve.

Fri. Jan. 18
Quite a nice day. Thawed some. Arthur came up & got Mon about 10 too help him sort out some pigs too sell & then Mon bought them 12 sows. Arthur brot Mon home about 12. Dean hauled the sows over home in P.M. They had too take them too Prosper too weigh them & Mon went along down home & helped Dean some. I scrubbed floors. Went too Decorah in eve with Claudes too Rebekah Lodge. They initiated Evelyn & John Schnitzler for us. Had a good time & a good supper. Came back too B.O. about 11 & stopped at the Hall where they were having a farewell party for Bob Dinger before he goes into the Service. Mon went there instead of going too Decorah. There was a large crowd. S. boys played. Got home about 2. It was raining when we came home & quite slippery. 18 from B.O. went too Decorah too Lodge.

Sat. Jan. 19
Quite a day. Not cold & thawed all day. Snowed in A.M. & quite hard at times. Such big wet flakes. We went down too Dean's about 9 & Mon helped him sort out some pigs. He took 8 too Mabel in the pick up. Linda came home with us & then went home with Dean when he came back from Mabel. Sun shone some in P.M. Cleared off in eve & got colder. We didn't go down town in eve. The 8 pigs weighed 1745 lbs. @ $17.00 per cwt. & bro't $296.65.

Sun. Jan. 20
10º below. Quite a nice day & it warmed up some. We were alone all day. Worked at the Income in P.M. & got the papers ready too go in.

Mon. Jan. 21
Not very nice day. Dark in A.M. & started too snow about 3 P.M. Snowed very hard later in P.M. & the wind came up. Snowed some in the nite too. We went too Decorah about 10:30. Rick & Emma T. are here visiting & they went with us. Emma & I got our hair fixed & Mon got a hair cut. Took the Income papers down. Had dinner down town. Came home about 3. Went down town too Lodge in eve but there wasn't any. Not a very cold day or nite.

Tues. Jan. 22
Regular blizzard at times in A.M. & then again later in P.M. Not too cold until in eve it got colder & the wind blew harder. Cleared off in the nite. I went up too Zoa's in P.M. too Bible Study with Alberts. Not many out. Studying the book of Acts. No Show tonite.

Wed. Jan. 23
10º below. Nice bright day but quite a wind from the north & it didn't warm up much all day. Claude was here in A.M. assessing. Didn't do much of anything. Too cold.

Thurs. Jan. 24
28º below. Not too nice a day. Rather dark in A.M. & started too snow in P.M. Didn't too much snow fall. Warmed up some up too zero. Cleared off in eve & was nice. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. The Odd Fellows were supposed too come up from Decorah for Installation but they didn't come. Some of us women went up too the Hall & got supper. Got home about 10. Little daughter born too Mr. & Mrs. Harold Vine tonite.

Fri. Jan. 25
Not too nice in A.M. Sleeted & snowed some. Cleared off in P.M. & was quite nice. Arthur came up early in A.M. & got Mon too go down & help him sort out some pigs too sell. They came back about 1. Dean & Linda were here a few minutes after dinner. Went too Club at Bernell Snell's in P.M. with Dean & Lillian. Quite a few out but quite a few of the members not there too. A number of visitors. Had a nice lunch. Went too the Dance in eve. Large crowd out. S. boy's played. Little daughter born too Bill & Pauline Lange tonite.

Sat. Jan. 26
Not very nice day. Not too bad but just not too much sunshine in P.M. All A.M. was sunshine. We went too Decorah about 10:30. Finished up the Income Business. Came home about 3. Eda Stockman & Rick T. rode home from Decorah with us. Went down town awhile in eve.

Sun. Jan. 27
Nice bright day. Not too cold. Arthur's bro't Bill up here & left him about 11 & they went too Rochester. Mrs. K. is up there going through the clinic. Mon, Bill & I went too Padden's in P.M. Got down there about 2 & left about 4. Mrs. Kinny & Son were there too. Took Bill on home. I got quite sick while at Padden's & was sick all nite.

Mon. Jan. 28
Quite a nice day but cold. Didn't do much of anything. Feel better but lazy. Aunt Alice was here awhile in P.M. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. Jan. 29
30º below. Nice bright day & it did warm up some. I washed in A.M. Went too Bible Study at Arnold's in P.M. Went too the Show in eve. Money not given out. Mon went too bed.

Wed. Jan. 30
Nice bright day & much warmer. Quite a strong south wind. Thawed quite a little. Hilda Reid was here awhile in P.M.

Thurs. Jan. 31
Dandy nice day. Thawed a lot. Dean & Linda came up just after dinner, just as we were going too go down there so Linda rode down with us. Mon & Dean loaded up a load of wood on the big wagon & Mon bro't it up here with the tractor. Dean bro't me home with our car & then drove the tractor back. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. The Decorah Installation team came up & installed officers & some of us women went up & got supper for them.

Fri. Feb. 1
Nice day. Thawed some again today but not as much as yesterday. Olive was over awhile in P.M.

Sat. Feb. 2
Nice day. Thawed quite a little. We went down too Decorah about 12. I got my hair fixed. Went down town in eve. Dean's were up town & Tommy & Dean got hair cuts. Iona, Tommy & Linda came over too the store as soon as Tommy got his hair cut & waited there for Dean. Had a Birthday card from Isa today & also a pretty handkerchief.

Sun. Feb. 3
Rather a dark dreary day. Not cold though. We were alone all day & eve. Wind blew quite hard in the nite.

Mon. Feb. 4
Not very nice in A.M. but cleared off & was nice in P.M. Rather windy but not very cold. Dean was here a minute in P.M. He had sold some hogs. Went too Lodge in eve. Quite a few out. Had a lunch afterward. 9 pigs weighed 1925 lbs. @ $17.15 per cwt. Bro't $330.13.

Tues. Feb. 5
Quite nice in P.M. but not so nice early in A.M. Rather a chilly wind. Dean was here awhile after dinner. I went too Bible Study at Zoa's in P.M. Went too the Show in eve. "Bed time for Bonzo". It is surely a funny show. Large crowd out & the money not given away. Mon went too Decorah too Lodge with Joe M.

Wed. Feb. 6
Rather dark in A.M. but cleared off in P.M. & was nice. Went too the Lutheran Dinner at noon. They had a very good dinner & a big crowd. Donnie Baker is painting & papering the upper hall & Mon helped him some in P.M. King Geo. of England died in his sleep early this A.M.

Thurs. Feb. 7
Dandy nice day. Thawed quite a little. Bill Dinger & Mr. Moen came early this morning & put on the second coat of plaster. They finished about 3:15. It looks nice. Went down town in eve. Ida Halse & I went up too Gladys Albertson's too prepare a program for next Rebekah nite. Got home about 10:30. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. Feb. 8
My 60th Birthday. Dandy nice day. Thawed again. I scrubbed & cleaned house some. Went too the Dance in eve. Large crowd out. Some scrapping at supper time, while most everyone was up too supper. Golberg's played. Dean's were here awhile in eve. Brought me a beautiful slip for my Birthday. It snowed very hard for awhile early in A.M. but it didn't last long & then it cleared off & was nice.

Sat. Feb. 9
Nice day again. We went down too Arthur's early in A.M. & got the goose that was in their deep freeze & then on over too Dean's & got some eggs & cream. Raymond Holt came about 9:30 & fixed the switches etc. of the electricity, after the plastering. We went too Decorah about 12. I got a new dress for my birthday from Mon. Went down town a little while in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Sun. Feb. 10
Nice day but very windy in P.M. & nite although the wind did go down late in the nite. Sun didn't shine much but it thawed a lot. Arthur's, Dean's & Louie & Mrs. K. were here for dinner. Danny came up after S.S. Mon went down town & met him & walked up with him. We had our goose for dinner. Had a good time. We went & got Rick & Emma about 6 & went up too Howard Rollins for supper. Merle & Elsie were there for supper but they left soon after. We spent the eve. Played cards & visited. Had a lunch again before we came home. Had a good supper & lunch. Got home about 12:30.

Mon. Feb. 11
Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Clothes dried so nice. Went over too Olive's a little while in eve. Luella & Iona were there. Arthur was at Rochester all day going thru' the Clinic. He got home about 6.

Tues. Feb. 12
Dandy nice day. Thawed a lot again. I went down too Genevra's in P.M. too Bible Study. Went too the Show in eve. "Air Cadet". Part of it taken at William's Airport Arizona. It was good. Large crowd out & the money not given out. $50 & $10. Arthur was at Rochester again today.

Wed. Feb. 13
Not such a nice day & not too bad. Sun didn't shine too much but it thawed quite a little, even though the wind was chilly. Arthur's bro't the boys about 6:45 A.M. & left them & Mon went on too Rochester with them. Arthur was supposed too have his operation at 8:30 but he didn't have it until after 3. Hemmorroids. Mon & Ruth got back about 5:15. She went on home & then we got the boys ready & took them home. Went on over too Dean's a minute too. Went too a 25th Wedding Anniversary Dance for Happy & Audry at the Hall in eve. Good crowd out & a good time. We came home at supper time. Arthur is at the Woveall Hospital & Roger Powers is doing chores for him.

Thurs. Feb. 14
Nice day but the wind was cool. Mon went down too Arthur's about 9:15 & he & Dean, & Roger Powers who is doing Arthur's chores, sorted out the last of Arthur's hogs he had too sell & Dean took them too Harmony. Ruth came about 11:30 & we went too Rochester about 12. Mon drove. We got too the Hospital about 1:30 & went in too see Arthur a few minutes then went down town & looked around until about 2 & then went back & stayed with Arthur's until about 4. He put in a bad night but was feeling a little better today. We went down too Arthur's a few minutes after we got home. I went up too Fern's in eve with Dorothea R. too a Stanley Party. Good crowd & a lot of fun. Had a good lunch too. Mon went too Lodge. Sold 9 pigs weighed 1870 @ $17.35 per cwt. Bro't $324.44.

Fri. Feb. 15
Nice day. Went too the Hall too work about 9:30. A bunch of us women were cleaning the upper hall. Got through about 3. We went down too Dean's a few minutes late in P.M. There was an anniversary dance for Geo Wernett's at the Community Building in Decorah tonite, but we didn't go.

Sat. Feb. 16
Rather dark most of the day but it did clear off some late in P.M. Dean came up about 10:30 & we drove our car too Rochester. Got up there about noon. I just went up too Arthur's room & left a box that Ruth had sent up & then we went down town awhile. Had dinner & looked around at the 10 cent store & walked around awhile then went back too the Hospital & stayed with Arthur until about 4 & then we came home. We went right on down too Arthur's a few minutes. He is feeling some better today. Is up walking around part of the time. He looks better. Went down town awhile in eve.

Sun. Feb. 17
Rather cloudy in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day. Ruth & Mr. & Mrs. K. went too Rochester about 12 & they left the boys here. They got back about 4:30. Arthur was better today. Mrs. Emmons passed away at Kansas City this eve about 7.

Mon. Feb. 18
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Rather dark & windy all day. Started too snow late in eve. Mon went down too Arthur's early in A.M. & did some work. We went too Decorah about 10:30 & Olive went with us. We girls got our hair fixed & Mon got a hair cut. Decorah, Canton & Cresco Rebekah's came in eve & had a Birthday party for our Lodge. They brought the lunch & a big birthday cake. Vivian Nelson Past Pres. from Mason City came too. Each lodge put on part of a program after lodge & we had a lot of fun. Around a hundred there I guess. Got home about 11 & it sure was a blizzard when we came home although not cold.

Tues. Feb. 19
Heck of a day. Regular blizzard. Snowed, hailed, rain with thunder & lightning. Had it all but it wasn't too cold. Wind blew hard all day & eve but went down in the nite. Olive & I went down too the hall about 9:30 too help wash the dishes from last night & it was plenty bad right then. Snowing so hard & blowing so we could hardly see. Let up a little before we came home. Nellie Nelson, Iva & Mabel came & helped too. Didn't do anything the rest of the day.

Wed. Feb. 20
Not too nice a day. Stormy & nasty. Didn't do much of anything. Ice on the pavement in A.M. but it thawed & they were up & down the paving all P.M. clearing it off.

Thurs. Feb. 21
Nice day. Ruth & Danny came up about 9:45 & we went too Rochester about 10. Roger bro't them up. Got up there about 11:20 & we went in too see Arthur awhile. He looks much better & feels much better. We went down town & had dinner & shopped awhile & then went back too the Hospital & stayed until about 4. Roger was in B.O. so he took Ruth & Danny on home. Mrs. K. stayed with Bill. Went down town in eve. Mrs. Emmons funeral & burial were at B.O. this P.M.

Fri. Feb. 22
10º below this morn. Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Went too the dance at the hall in eve. Golberg's played. Leap year dance so the ladies took the money & payed the bill & asked the men too dance. Had a good crowd & a good time. Arthur moved too the Arthur Hotel today.

Sat. Feb. 23
Snowed very hard this A.M. early. Quit about 10. Cleared off about noon & was very nice. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. & got some eggs & cream. Went too Decorah about 10:15. Quite a little snow on the paving when we went but it wasn't slippery until we got too the big hill & there they were having trouble but we didn't have any. Met the sanding crew at the bottom of it. Snow was all gone from the paving when we came home. Dean's bro't Tommy up & left him in eve while they went too a Show.

Sun. Feb. 24
Dandy nice day. Ruth & the boys came up early in A.M. & we took our car & went too Rochester. Got up there a little after 10. We spent the day with him there at the Hotel. Had dinner there too & a very good one. Albert, Florence, Olive & Claude were there awhile in P.M. too. We got home about 5. Claude's & us went down too Joe Moran's & spent the eve. Mon drove. We played cinch. Had a big lunch too. Got home about 12. Cool nite. Arthur feels better but he doesn't look very good.

Mon. Feb. 25
Dandy nice day. Ruth bro't the boys up about 2 P.M. & left them & she went too Rochester too spend the nite with Arthur. Aunt Alice was here awhile in P.M. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. Feb. 26
Dandy nice day. Thawed quite a little. Mon & Danny went down too Arthur's in A.M. & then on over too Dean's awhile. They went back down too Arthur's after dinner again for awhile. Bible Study met here in P.M. but not many here. Ruth got home about 5. Arthur is feeling much better. Went too the Show in eve. "The Good Humor Man". Big crowd out. Mrs. Jackie Lodgson got the $50.

Wed. Feb. 27
Dandy nice day. Mon left about 10 A.M. Took Jack & Katie Schimming too Olwein too meet Johnnie who was coming home on leave from the Great Lakes Training camp. He got back about 5:15. I tore off paper all day from the sitting room & bed room. Dean & Linda were here a few minutes in P.M. We went down there in eve too her Birthday party. Si's, Lloyds & Stanleys were there. She got so many nice gifts. Had a good lunch.

Thurs. Feb. 28
Dandy nice day only a little cooler but it thawed quite a little anyway. I went up too the church about 10:30 A.M. too help the girls who served dinner for the W.S.C.S. Anita, Iona, Luella & Florence E. They had a very good dinner & a big crowd. Started today charging .75¢ for dinner. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. Fern, Shirley & I came up too Olive's about 9:30. There was work at Lodge so the men didn't come until after 11. Ruth went too Rochester about 10:15 this A.M. too spend the rest of the day & nite with Arthur. Mrs. K. came out too stay with the boys.

Quite a nice day. A little cooler but it thawed quite a little. Ruth & Arthur came from Rochester about noon. He is pretty good. Went too Club at Miriam's in P.M. with Dorothea R. Quite a few out. Had a nice lunch. Dean's were here a minute just after I got home from Club. Geo. Wernett was here selling stockings too. Claude's got a call from Marvin early in P.M. that he was in Des Moines & would fly from there too Rochester so they left about 4:30 too meet him at 6 P.M.

Sat. Mar. 1
Quite a nice day. Cooler. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. Mon helped him get some cattle in too be dehorned. Stopped at Arthur's a few minutes on our way home. Went too Decorah about 10:30. Got my hair fixed. We got home about 4 & I changed my clothes. Went too put my glasses back on & the bow came right off so we hiked back too Decorah too Dr. Borenmeyer. Had too leave them there too be sent in too the factory. Dean's bro't Tommy up in eve & left him while they went too the Show at Mabel. Mon went down town awhile in eve. Went over too see Marvin a minute in A.M.

Sun. Mar. 2
Snowed lightly all day & part of the nite I guess & still not too much snow fell. Not very cold. We were alone all day & eve.

Mon. Mar. 3
Rather a dark damp day. Not very cold until later in P.M. it got colder & the wind blew quite hard. All nite for that matter to. Mon worked at putting on window casings part of the day. We went too Lodge in eve. Quite a few out & we had a lunch after Lodge. Rode home with Walt Barth's.

Tues. Mar. 4
Cold windy day but very bright. I washed & ironed. Ole was here & helped put on window & door casings. He left about 3. Went too the Show in eve. "The Fuller Brush Girl". It was funny. Big crowd but the money not given away. Wind went down in the nite.

Wed. Mar. 5
Nice bright day. Cool but still it thawed some. I went too the Lutheran dinner & then we went too Decorah & I got my glasses ($11).

Quite a nice day. We tore up the rest of the linoleum in the kitchen, in A.M. & took out nails & tacks. Mon went down too Dean's in P.M. Si was down there with his power saw & they were cutting down trees. Mon went too Lodge & I went down town awhile.

Fri. Mar. 7
Quite a nice day. Scrubbed floors in A.M. Didn't do much in P.M. We were at Claude's for supper. Marvin had Virginia Q. there too. Arthur's came up after supper & Marvin showed his movie pictures he had taken in Korea also his slides. They were sure good. Arthur's bro't their movies along too. We went down too the dance about 10. Good crowd out. S. boys played. Started too snow about 9:30 & kept it up all nite.

Sat. Mar. 8
Snowed most of the day. Didn't do much of anything. Paving got quite slippery so we didn't go too Decorah. Arthur's bro't the boys up about 6:15 P.M. & they went too Decorah too the teacher, director banquet & program. They came after them about 10:30. Had a letter from Isa.

Sun. Mar. 9
Rather a dark dreary day but warm. Started thawing early in A.M. so the ice & snow on the paving melted & the snow plow was up & down & scraped the snow off. Olive, Leonard, Marvin & Virginia were here for dinner & most of the P.M. Claude had such a cold he didn't come. Went too church in eve with Paul & Miriam. Lenten service. Quite a few out. Dr. Dill spoke.

Mon. Mar. 10
Snowy & damp in A.M. but cleared off & was nice in P.M. Thawed a lot. Olive & I went up too Iva Sheley's in P.M. too meet with some of the girls & plan our program too take too Cresco (Rebekahs). Went too a dance at the hall in eve for Marvin Sexton & Johnnie Schimming. Not too many out but they got quite a little money. Rather a dead crowd until after supper. Dean's were here a few minutes just after dinner.

Tues. Mar. 11
Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. We went too Decorah awhile after dinner. Went too the Show in eve. "Cheaper By the Dozen". It was good. Large crowd out but the money wasn't given away. $40.

Wed. Mar. 12
Not too nice a day. Quite windy. Snowed very hard for just a little while in A.M. & then quit. Rather dark most of the day but the sun did shine a little. Started too snow about 6:30 & it sure did snow for awhile. Let up snowing some in eve but still was plenty bad. Quit snowing some time in the nite. Mon went too Decorah with Dean about 11:30. Nice day. Thawed quite a lot. A lot of our snow went. I went over too Olive's awhile in P.M. Mon worked at the floor, measuring etc. getting ready too lay tile. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge & I went over to Genevra's. Some of the Rebekah's met there too practice.

Nice day. We went too Decorah about 9 A.M. Mon went too the Court House too a Republican Rally & I went too Mabels & got a permanent. We got home about 3. Went too a dance at the Hall in eve put on by Charlie Olson of Decorah. Not too many out but we had a good time.

Nice day. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. & got some eggs & cream. Didn't do too much. Went over too Olive's awhile in P.M. Paul, Marie & the kids came about 1 P.M. Didn't go down town in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Dandy nice day. Thawed quite a little. Dean's came up in P.M. We went over too Claude's later in P.M. for coffee. All the Wicks "kids" were there. Had quite a visit. Paul's went home about 5 as we did. Rev. Arnolds came just as we were leaving. Virginia showed us her new engagement ring. Its sure pretty. Didn't go too church in eve.

Quite a nice day although the sun didn't shine too much. Quite windy & it thawed a lot. I washed & ironed. Mon worked at the floor in the kitchen. He got some tile down. Dean & Linda were here awhile in P.M. We went too Lodge in eve & then went too Decorah too a dance at the Community Building. Roy & Rosie Brown went with us. Charlie Olson's orchestra played & they were good. Not too big a crowd out for that building but we had a good time. Marvin showed his pictures at the hall after Lodge but we didn't stay. Saw my first robin today. Rained some in eve & the again in the nite.

Tues. Mar. 18
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Snowed in A.M. We did a little of everything. Tore off paper etc. getting ready for Donnie too paper. Went too the show in eve. "Broken Arrow". Large crowd out & a good show but the money wasn't given out.

Wed. Mar. 19
Not very nice day but not cold. Thawed a lot. Donnie Baker came about 8 A.M. & papered the bed room & sitting room. He finished about 3:30. I wiped up the floors after he left.

Thurs. Mar. 20
Quite nice in A.M. but clouded up later & was dark. Thawed a lot. Ruth bro't the boys up a little after 10 & left them & she went too the church where she helped Elsie, Charlene & Gladys entertain at the monthly dinner. I took the boys up for dinner. Quite a crowd out but the roads are getting quite bad in some places so that made a smaller crowd. They took in over $72 though. We took Gladys, Mabel K, Alberta & Iva S. too Cresco in eve too Lodge. We took the Blue Bird Emblem over there. 17 from B.O., 18 from Decorah. They had a nice program & some stunts after Lodge & then a nice supper. We got home about 12.

Fri. Mar. 21
Rather a dark day. We worked most of the day putting down tile in the kitchen. Went too the dance in eve. About 9:30 Lawrence Donlan came in & said that Ed Houdek's tavern was on fire so all the men went over there. They had fire trucks from Decorah, Mabel, & Canton but couldn't save the building. The men came back too the hall & we went on with the dance. Some of we women went up stairs & got lunch for the firemen. They came by two's & three's & they were so wet & cold that the coffee really tasted good too them. Served the dancers too. So wasn't at the dance very much of the time. S. boys played. We got home about 1:00. It started too snow about 10 & the wind came up. Snowed lightly most of the nite I guess.

Regular blizzard most of the day but worst in A.M. Snowed hard & the wind blew hard. Wind went down some in eve. Not too much travel on the road as it was drifting so & hard too get through. The snow plows were out some but with so much wind they couldn't do much. Warm during the day but got colder at nite.

Not very nice day. Quite blizzardy off & on all day although the sun did shine a few times. We were alone all day & eve except for a few minutes about noon Dean was here. He didn't have any trouble getting out as the road down there wasn't drifted. Mostly north & south roads that were drifted.

About zero this morn. Nice day. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. for cream & eggs & then went too Decorah. Mon got a hair cut. We got home about 2. Went too the Show in eve. "The Petty Girls". Didn't like it too well. Big crowd but the money wasn't given away $50 & $20. Addie Emery died this A.M. Cold nite.

Nice day. We worked at the kitchen floor most of the day. Arthur's, Dean's, Claude, Olive, Marvin & Virginia were here for supper. Ruth bro't a roast goose. Had a good time. They went home about 11. Cold nite.

Not too bad a day & not too nice rather dark part of the day. Sun shone some. Ruth bro't the boys up a little after 12 & she went too Decorah too have a tooth pulled. Arthur came after the boys about 6. We went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. Addie Emery was buried at B.O. this P.M.

Dandy nice day. Mon took Jim & Dan Matthews too Decorah in A.M. He took Olive & I too Club at Margaret Wards in P.M. Most of the members were there & some visitors. Had a good lunch. I rode home with La Vern Snell & Olive with Geo Kruse. Had a letter from Isa. Marvin left for Texas this A.M. about 9:15.

Nice day. Thawed a lot. We went too Decorah about 10. Got my hair fixed. We went down town in eve.

Quite a nice day, but cloudy at times. Warm. Had quite a storm in eve. Started about 7:30 & kept it up until 8. Thunder, lightning, hail & rain & it sure did hail & rain. Claude, Olive & I went too the Lutheran Church in eve too a program put on by 4 young men from Luther. Claude drove & we just got up in the church yard when it started too rain so we sat in the car during the storm. Not very many out too the program. It was surely good. The L.D.R. served cake & coffee afterward & the boys sang more songs then. We got home about 10:30.

Not too nice a day. Rather dark in A.M. Rained quite hard about 4:30 P.M. & then sprinkled off & on the rest of the P.M. & eve. Went too a "Shower" for Ed & Margaret Houdeck at the M.E. Church parlors in P.M. About 45 ladies there. They got so many nice things & quite a little money. Had a swell lunch. We worked at the floor in A.M.

Dandy nice day. We worked at the floor almost all day & finished it. Went too the Show at nite. Not such a big crowd out & the money wasn't given out $50 & $20. Bill Mauldin's "Up Front". It was pretty good.

Not too nice a day. The sun did shine some but it was dark most of the day. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up about 9:30 & left them. They went too La Crosse with Wallace & Mae. Had a big time with the kiddies. Tommy walks quite a little now. Dean's came back about 4:30.

Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Ruth bro't the boys up in P.M. & left them while she went too the Bazaar Boosters at Alice W's. They played out doors part of the time. We went down town in eve.

Not too nice a day although the sun did shine part of the time. It was rather chilly. Mon put some of the base boards on in A.M. He went too Prosper a few minutes in P.M. & then we went down too Dean's awhile. Tommy's first Birthday. He was having a big time. Went too the dance in eve. Quite a few out. Bert Yates orchestra played. They were pretty good.

Quite a nice bright day but it was windy & chilly. We went too Decorah about 12. Lizzie rode down with us but not back. We didn't stay too long. Didn't go down town in eve.

Dandy nice day. Warmer. We went down too Arthur's a little while in P.M. Florence, Albert, Georgia Van Vleit Milburn & her husband came just after supper & stayed an hour or so. Dean's brought Linda & Tommy up & left them in eve while they went too Locust too church.

Dandy nice day. Mon went down too Arthur's early in A.M. too help him ring the sows. I washed & ironed. We worked cleaning up the lawn most of the P.M. Arthur & the boys were here a few minutes in P.M. They got the sand which was left after plastering. We went too Lodge in eve. Had a lunch afterward.

Bright nice day & quite warm but terribly windy. Mon took Jim Matthews too Decorah early in A.M. too have the cast taken off his leg. He went down too Dean's in P.M. & helped him haul up wood. Linda came home with him & stayed all nite. She went too the Show with me. "Winchester 73", with Jimmy Stewart. Didn't like it too well. Too much shooting. Money not given. $50 & $30. Had a letter from Isa.

Not very nice day. Started too sprinkle about 10 & then later in A.M. it rained harder & kept it up until after dinner it started too snow & was quite a blizzard with a strong north wind & it got colder later in P.M. Had thunder & lightning in A.M. Mon & Linda went about 8:30 & Mon stayed & helped haul up wood until about 11:30 when it got too raining too hard to work outside. Albert & Minnie Van Vleits Golden Wedding Anniversary today & they held open house in P.M. & eve. Didn't get too go.

Not too nice a day. Dark & cool. We went too Decorah about 10. Frank [Bandle?] rode down & back with us. We were home about 12:30. Every business place in Decorah closed at 12 & were closed until 3. Went too church in eve. Communion service. Not too many out. Rode home with Florence & Albert.

Not very nice day. Rained almost all day & late in P.M. it started too snow. Kept it up all nite I guess. The W.S.C.S. had a food sale in P.M. & eve at Sheley's store. I was there until about 4:30 & then came home & got supper & went right back again. No one in, in eve. We sold quite a little food. Mon painted in the kitchen most of the day.

Not very nice Easter Sun. Snowed & blowed all day. I rode too church & back with Norris E. Not too many out too church. Roads & weather too bad. Dandy nice day. Didn't do too much. Went too W.S.C.S. at Alice Wilbur's in P.M. with Ruth & Bill. About a dozen out. Had a good lunch. Nomination of officers & I was put in as Vice Pres. Charlene Pres. Joyce Treas. Alice W. Sec. I went too Decorah in eve with Claude's too Lodge. Gladys A. went too. Cresco bro't the Blue Bird too Decorah. There were 24 from there, 21 from B.O. & 3 from Canton. Had a nice time & a good lunch. Got home about 11:30. Had a letter from Isa.

Dandy nice day. Warmest day we have had. We went too Dean's about 8:30. Dean & Mon went too Bluffton & moved Uncle Aaron's furniture back too the Tillapaugh house & took him too Babe Wards where he plans on staying for awhile. They got back just at dinner time so we stayed there for dinner & until the dishes were done. Iona & I set out lily of the valleys. Were outside most of the A.M. Tommy had a good time outside. We worked at cleaning off the strawberry bed & garden after we got home until about 3 & then we went too Decorah for about an hour. Big crowd down there.

Beautiful day. Nice & warm. We went fishing about 9:45 & it was about 1 when we got home. Got 34. Dr. & Norma & Ike & Ada were down too Ike's in P.M. & I went up too see them a few minutes.

Rather cloudy most of the day & it sprinkled & rained off & on all day. Mon helped Dean ring hogs in A.M. early & then he went too Bluffton & got a pick up load of coal that he bought from Uncle Aaron. I worked at the yard. I went too Bluffton with him in P.M. We got 2 pick up loads more of wood & coal. I went too Lodge in eve. Not very many out. Had lunch.

Not very nice day. Sprinkled off & on in A.M. & dark & cool in P.M. Mon was down too Dean's in A.M. helping him clean the calf pen. Linda came home with him after dinner. Dean & Iona went too John Young's funeral in P.M. & they bro't Tommy up & left him too. They got back about 5. Went to the Show in eve. "Pa & Ma Kettle Back On the Farm". It was good. Large crowd out but no one got the money.

I stopped off at Vivian Breitsprecher's too Club. Quite a few out & we had a nice lunch. Olive & I rode back too B.O. with Florence. Mon went down town awhile in eve.

Beautiful day. Plenty warm. Got up about 5:30 expecting too go too Davenport & Lester's car was out in the yard. Lester, Isa & Loyal had come about 2:30 but didn't want too wake us so they stayed out in the car until we got up. We had breakfast & visited awhile & then went down too Dean's & stayed awhile & then back too Arthur's & stayed awhile. Linda came home with us. Lester went up too Lizzie's, Isa too Olive's & Loyal, Henry & Linda down town for awhile. Had dinner & then Lester's went home. Loyal is home on furlough but has too go back too California tomorrow. Mon & Linda went right after dinner too. Mon plowed & dragged for Dean in P.M. while he went too Decorah. We went down town in eve awhile.

Beautiful nice warm day. We went down too Arthur's creek fishing about 9:15. Came home about 12. Got 49 fish. Arthur's bro't Bill up in eve & left him all nite while the rest of them went too Decorah to the Show.

Grand warm day. We took Bill home early in A.M. then went on over too Dean's & stopped a few minutes, then went too Decorah. Got back home about noon. We worked outside all P.M. burning dead grass etc. Mon took me down too Ida Halse's in eve too a Stanley Party. Quite a few out & we had a good time & good lunch. Got home about 11:30.

Grand day again. Over 90º today. I washed & ironed. Mon helped at Dean's in A.M. He was home for an early dinner & then went back & helped again in P.M. They sowed all the oats today. Went too the show in eve. "The Groom Wore Spurs". I didn't like it too well. Big crowd but no one got the money. Mon went down too Leonard's with Claude about 6 P.M. & they dug out a couple of young foxes.

Nice day again although it did cloud up in P.M. & looked quite stormy but it didn't rain here (Did at Dean's). Mon was at Dean's all day again, but came home for dinner. Quite a bad looking storm just after supper. We had quite a little thunder & lightning & a nice shower but it cleared off later in eve. We went too the dance. Charlie Olson's played. Not very many out. Didn't pay expenses. Little daughter born too Marlene & Bob Ward early this A.M.

Dandy nice day. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. & we went too Decorah in P.M. We went fishing awhile late in P.M. down on Canoe creek but didn't get only 3 or 4 chubs so we threw them back. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up & left them in eve while they went too Decorah.

Mrs. A. didn't come home with us. Went too the Show in eve. "Up In Mabel's Room". It was funny. Large crowd. Claude's name was called for $50 but he wasn't there. Had a letter from Isa.

Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went up too the church with Albert's too the quarterly meeting. Dr. Dill & wife were there. Their last time as Presiding Elder. We will have a new one now. Had a lunch after the meeting. Got home about 11.

Fri. May 9
Not too nice a day. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. awhile & then at Arthur's too help him awhile in P.M. in vaccinating calves. Dean's got the baby chicks today. 100 straight run Hy [lines?] at 30¢ each & 200 pullets at 60¢ each. They gave us 25 extra roosters & some other extra ones.

Rained early in A.M. but cleared off & the sun shone until after dinner & then about 2 it started too rain & rained then until after 4. Rained quite hard at times. We went too Decorah about 10:30. Lizzie went with us. I got my hair fixed. We went down town in eve. Dean's came while we were gone & left me a nice fuschia plant & card for Mother's Day.

Mother's Day. Rained off & on all day & cool. I went too church. Ida, Raymond & Earl Halse were here in P.M. Got a pretty case holding a stick of cologne & card from Arthur's.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. We worked awhile in A.M. taking up strawberry plants & chaining off the garden. Mon helped Dean in P.M. He bro't the tractor & plow home with him & plowed the garden after supper. I went too the Show in eve. "Rock Island R.R". It was pretty good. Large crowd out. Claude's name was drawn again for $50 but he wasn't there. Tommy McCabe got the $12.00.

Not very nice day. Rained off & on most of the day. Sometimes quite hard & it was cold. Cleared off late in P.M. & was very nice. Mon took the tractor home early in A.M. & then we set out a couple of rows of strawberry plants before it rained too hard. I went too W.S.C.S. meeting at Violets in P.M. with Florence. Quite a few out. Had a letter from Isa.

Cloudy part of the day & sun shone some too. Rather cool. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. Dean was planting corn. Mon went over too Albert's for more seed corn. I stayed at Dean's. We got home a little after 10 & went right too work planting garden. Finished up about 4:30. Ruth bro't Bill up & left him in P.M. (She was getting a home permanent Dorothea & Joyce.) Quite a nice day only the wind was chilly. We went too Decorah in P.M. Got some cabbage & tomato plants at the Greenhouse & set them out after we got home. Went down town in eve.

Not too nice a day & not too bad. Sun shone part of the day. It was cool. I went too church in A.M. Mon went down too the ball diamond in A.M. too help get it ready. We went too the first ball game of the season. Nordness played B.O. at B.O. in P.M. I sat in Luella Y's. car with her & Muriel. N. 10, B.O. 4. Not very good game. We went too Harmony in eve too a Show "Red Skies of Montana". It wasn't too bad.

Quite a nice day but cool again. A little cloudy in P.M. but cleared off again. I washed & ironed. Mon went down too Dean's early in A.M. for a few minutes & then down there again just after dinner & helped him get started planting the last piece of corn. I worked in the old strawberry bed cleaning out weeds in P.M. We went too Lodge in eve. Not too many out.

Tues. May 20
Quite a nice day but rather cool. We went fishing in P.M. down at Joe Wilhelms. Got 35 quite nice ones. I went too the Show in eve. "Jackie Robinson's Life Story". It was pretty good. Big crowd but the money wasn't given out. Both of the boys finished planting corn today.

Wed. May 21
Not too nice a day. Rather cool, dark & damp all day & nite. We went down too Deans early in A.M. awhile. Linda came home with us. We stopped at Arthurs awhile on our way home. Dean's went too Decorah in P.M. & they came & got Linda when they went home. They brought her & Tommy up & left them in eve. The Locust ladies had their sale - lunch this eve & Iona had too work. They came after Tommy about 1 but left Linda.

Thurs. May 22
Not very nice day. Rained most of the day. Sometimes not hard & at times quite hard. Mon took Linda home about 11 & I rode up too the church with them. Alice Wilbur, Rosella Houdeck, Lucy Snell, & Zoa Reed entertained for dinner. Pretty good crowd. Had a good dinner. Stayed until the dishes were done & then Ruth & the boys came home with me. Arthur had a dental appointment in Decorah & he came after them about 4. We went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. Had quite a storm just after we got down town. Thunder, lightning & lots of rain. Joe & Iona brot Olive & I home about 9 & the men stayed down town until later. Rained most of the nite I guess. Power was off for an hour or so at noon & again in eve.

Not very nice day. Rained off & on all day. Rained very hard at times. Went too the Dance in eve. Not very many out. Dewey G. played.

Rather a cloudy dark day. Damp at times. We went too Decorah right after dinner. Got my hair fixed. Went down town awhile in eve.

Dandy nice day but the wind was cool. Dean's bro't Tommy up about 9 A.M. & left him while they went too Greene. Mon went down too Arthur's awhile in A.M. Norma, Dr., Ike, Ada & Glen were down too Ike's most of P.M. Mon was up there awhile & Norma down here awhile. Dean's came after Tommy about 7. We had a good time with him.

Tues. May 27
Rained all A.M. & most of the time quite hard. Cleared off later in P.M. & was nice only cool. Went too the Show in eve. "The Jolson Story". It was good. Money not given away.

Wed. May 28
Nice bright day but plenty cool. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. We went too Decorah in P.M. Mon got a hair cut. We went too Mabel in eve to the Show "Thunderhead Son Of Flicka". It was good. Cold nite. Ike, Ada, Glen & Peggy came down too Ike's today too stay for awhile.

Thurs. May 29
Frost on the ground this morning. Warmed up some during the day but it was still cool. Sun shone some & it rained some too. Claude took Olive & I too Club in P.M. Gloria W. entertained at Inez's. Large crowd out. Had a good lunch. We rode home with Dorothea R. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went too Canton with Ruth to the Graduation exercises. We had an invitation from Arthur Q. Very large crowd out. The program was very good. 30 graduates.

Fri. May 30
Not too nice a day. Cool & very windy in A.M. but the wind did go down some later in P.M. Sun shone part of the time & it was damp part of the time. Vin, Eunice & the boys & Aunt Eunice were here awhile in P.M. Mon took me up too the cemetry later in P.M. & then we went on down home & got some eggs. Nobody home. We stopped at Arthur's a little while on our way home. Had a tire going down while we were there so had too change it. Went too a farewell dance at the Hall in eve for Delano Weisland & Neil Barth. They are leaving Mon. too go into the Air Force. Quite a crowd out & had a pretty good time. Yate's Orchestra played. Rained hard in eve. Quite a bit of thunder & lightning.

Sat. May 31
Quite a nice day. Didn't go too Decorah today. Went down town awhile in eve.

Sun. June 1
Nice day. Some warmer. Ruth & Bill were up awhile in A.M. They bro't Danny too S.S. & then came up here & waited until it was out. Mon & I went fishing then. Down on Joe W's. Took a lunch along. Got back home about 2:30. Got 58 fish.

Mon. June 2
Nice day, but quite windy. I washed & ironed. Primary Election today so Mon was gone. He left about 7 A.M. Was home a few minutes for dinner & supper & then got home about 3 A.M. Olive & I went down too vote in P.M. & then we went & called on Josie & Mrs. Koenig. We went too Lodge in eve. Only 14 out. Had Nomination & Election of officers. Mabel Kimber resigned the treasurers job & they put me in as treasurer. Neil Barth & Delano Weisland went too Des Moines today too enter the Air Force.

Tues. June 3
Nice day. I worked in the garden some. We went down too Dean's & Arthur's in P.M. I went too the Show in eve. "Born Yesterday". Large crowd & the money wasn't given away.

Wed. June 4
Rather rainy looking in A.M. at times & the sun shone some too. I went too Lutheran L.A.S. dinner. Had a good dinner & a big crowd. It started too rain about 12:30 & rained quite hard most of the P.M. Gladys A. bro't Olive & I home from L.A.S. She was here awhile in A.M. too. Rained in eve & nite. Mon went down town awhile in eve. Had a letter from Isa. Glen R. left for Alaska today.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. We mowed the lawn today. Danny came up here after Bible School & stayed for dinner. He went too Bazaar Booster's at Audry G's with his mother in P.M. & Bill stayed here. Dean & Linda were here awhile in A.M. & then again in P.M. They bro't Nancy & Barney up here in P.M. & put them in the pasture. Gladys A. was here awhile in A.M. Mon went too Prosper awhile in A.M. too. We went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. Warm nite. First one we have had.

Fri. June 6
Dandy nice day. Plenty warm. Warmest day we have had. We cleaned out our garden early in A.M. I went too a "coin Shower" for Naomi Snell at the M.E. church basement in P.M. They had a program & Gladys & I put on a little "skit". Quite a few out & a nice lunch. Ruth bro't the boys & I up here & then she went back too the church & helped clean up. We went down too Dean's awhile after supper. Si's came while we were there.

Sat. June 7
Dandy nice day & plenty warm. We went too Decorah about 10:30. Got my hair fixed. We came home about 2. Peggy was down a few minutes after supper. We went down town awhile in eve. It got cooler in the nite.

Sun. June 8
Nice day. Not quite so warm as it was a cool breeze from the west. Did look quite stormy about 2 P.M. & we had a little shower but it cleared off right away. Peggy R. came down about 6:30 too call Norma as Ike was quite bad. Norma & Dr. came & then they had the ambulance come & take Ike to Rochester. They all went then. We went too Canton in P.M. to a ball game between Canton & Mabel. Canton won. Joyce H. came after me about 6:15 P.M. & then we went & picked up Charlene & Linda & Alice W. & her girls & went too Harmony too Naomi Snell's wedding at the M.E. church. It was a very pretty wedding & a large crowd out. Came on back too Alice's & had a meeting choosing the com's for W.S.C.S. for the coming year. Jordan & Wayne came later. We had a lunch & I came home with Wayne's. Mon went too Mabel too the Show.

Mon. June 9
Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Picked a few berries today. Mon went down too Arthur's about 5 & mowed hay until about 7.

Tues. June 10
Dandy nice day, but cooler. We worked in the garden awhile in A.M. We went down town in eve. I planned on going too the Show but it was outside & it was too cool too set out there so didn't go.
Gave $5 too the church.

Wed. June 11
Nice in A.M. but cool. Clouded up about noon & we had a little shower about 1. Looked rainy off & on all P.M. but didn't rain until in eve. Looked like quite a bad storm in eve & rained hard. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. but they were not at home so we came back & stopped a minute at Arthur's. Danny rode up with us. Dean's were here when we got here & they left Linda & Tommy here & they went fishing with Clyde's & Wallace's. Willson's came after Linda & Tommy at noon. I went too W.S.C.S. with Ruth & the boys in P.M. at Muriel T's. Quite a few out. Had a nice lunch. Mon plowed corn for Dean today. Ike Reed passed away about 8 A.M.

Thurs. June 12
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Rather dark most of the day. Mon was at Dean's all day. They are starting too tear down the old kitchen getting ready too build a new one. Iona M. & Dorothea R. were here a few minutes in eve. Mon went too Lodge & I went down town. Quite foggy in eve & nite.

Fri. June 13
Not so bad early in A.M. very muggy but clouded up about noon & looked pretty bad. Quite a little thunder & lightning & it rained quite hard for awhile. Sun did shine some in P.M. but not much. Looked stormy most of P.M. & nite & rained off & on too. Mon was at Dean's. Iva Sheley & I took the noon bus too Decorah to a Rebekah Convention. Good crowd out & a good meeting. The M.E. ladies served a 5:30 dinner & it was very good. Had a good meeting in eve too. Decorah Rebekah's put on the [work?]. 4 candidates from Cresco & 1 from Decorah. Had lunch at the M.E. church afterward. I rode home with Joe & Iona. Bad accident in B.O. about 5 P.M. A Marigold truck ran over a man from Spring Grove. (Poor brakes) Didn't kill him but hurt him badly. We got home from Decorah about 11.

Sat. June 14
Very warm day. Looked rainy at times but didn't rain. Mon went down too Dean's a while in A.M. We left home about 12 for Decorah for Ike's funeral at the Stiene Funeral Home. Alberta, Iona, & I were flower bearers & we had the 2 cars of flowers. Beautiful ones too. The funeral was at B.O. at 2. Large crowd out. We didn't go back too the church after the funeral for lunch as the Joan of Arc were having a food sale at Ernest's & I was supposed to be there. I stayed there at the store then until 6 & came home & had supper & went right back down town. Not much doing at nite but we did have a nice lot of food for the Sale. Took in $47. Harold R. came back for his fathers funeral.

Sun. June 15
Sprinkled off & on in A.M. until about 9 & then we had quite a shower but it cleared off after that & was nice but quite breezy. I got up at 6:30 & started picking berries. Finished just before it rained so hard. Got quite a lot of berries. Dr. & Norma bro't Ada, Peggy & Harold down about 5 P.M. I went up too see them & then they sent Harold down after Mon too come up so we had coffee & cake with them. Came home about 6:30. Olive & I went too M.E. church in eve too hear the youngsters put on their program from Bible School. It was good. Quite a few out. We rode home with Alberts.
Little Shirley De Cou died tonite from nephritis.

Mon. June 16
Nice in A.M. but clouded up about noon & rained quite hard. Quite a little thunder & lightning too. Cleared off again in P.M. We took 7 packages of strawberries to Deans early in A.M. & put them in the deep freeze. Mon worked at Dean's in P.M. We went too Lodge in eve. Quite a few out. Had a lunch after Lodge. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. June 17
Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed & picked berries. Picked them over & got them ready for the freezer. Mon was at Dean's all day. The carpenters got there about 10:45 & they finished tearing down the kitchen & pantry. We took 15 pts. of berries down too Dean's in eve. It sure looks funny down there. Si's came while we were there. We stopped at Arthur's a little while on our way down.

Wed. June 18
Nice day only that we had quite a little shower here just after dinner. Mon was at Dean's all day, plowing corn. Ruth came up in P.M. & picked the berries. I went with her when she went home about 4 & we went over too Dean's so Danny could see the house. I stayed there then & Mon & I had supper there.

Thurs. June 19
Nice day but cooler. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. plowing corn & at Arthur's in P.M. mowing hay. I went too W.S.C.S. dinner. Dorothea R., Phyliss W., Hazel D. & Audry G. entertained. Had a good dinner & a good crowd $71.25. Stopped at "Berts" on my way home & then went for a ride with her & Josie. Mon didn't go too Lodge in eve. I went down town a few minutes.

Not very nice day. Damp, dark & cool. Rained off & on all day. Didn't do too much. Did pick just a few berries. Mon went down town awhile in eve.

Sat. June 21
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Looked rainy all day but it didn't rain. Cool. I picked berries in A.M. Dean's came up & then Iona helped pick too. Gave the berries too her. We went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed. Went down town a while in eve. Peggy was down awhile late in P.M.

Sun. June 22
Rather dark & damp in A.M. & part of P.M. Cleared off in P.M. & was quite nice. We went down too Dean's awhile late in P.M. Went too Harmony in eve too the Show. "Valley of the Eagles". Didn't like it too well.

Mon. June 23
Had a very hard storm early in A.M. Much lightning, thunder, wind, some hail & a very hard rain. Rained almost all day. Did let up some in P.M. & I picked the berries. Very hot & muggy. Mon went down too Dean's in P.M. Had a hard wind storm about 11 P.M. but it didn't rain. Tornado at Cherokee & Lake Okiboji. Clara McCabe was here awhile in eve. I picked over berries.

Tues. June 24
Very warm day again. Cloudy early in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day except that thunder heads came up off & on all day. Had a storm again in the nite. Mon was at Dean's all day. I picked over berries & canned & got them ready for the deep freeze. Took 5 pts. down too Deans late in P.M. after Mon came home from there. He mowed hay there in P.M. I went up too Ada's awhile in P.M.

Wed. June 25
Rained early in A.M. but cleared off later & was very warm. Did cloud up off & on all day but didn't rain again until in the nite. Looked like a very bad storm at supper time & early eve but that passed around. Lots of thunder & lightning with the hard rain in the nite & then it got cooler. Dean's came up in A.M. & Iona picked the berries. I helped her some. They were here for dinner.

Thurs. June 26
Quite a nice day. A little cooler. Mon was at Dean's all day. I washed & ironed. Ruth & the boys were here awhile in eve. Mon went too Lodge & I went too Mabel K's too audit the Rebekah's books. It rained in the nite.

Fri. June 27
Quite a nice day. Not quite so warm. Mon was at home all day. I went too Club at Olive's in P.M. Quite a few out & a good lunch.

Sat. June 28
Dandy nice day & plenty warm. Lester & Isa were here when we got up. Just got here a few minutes before though. Mon went too Dean's too work. He & Linda came up for dinner. Lester, Isa & I went too Decorah in P.M. Plenty warm down there. We went too Decorah in eve with our car. Went for a ride out the old "Dug way" & on around west & back into Decorah. Had quite a ride. Large crowd in town. Saw Iona & Tommy. Linda was playing with him in the little wagon after supper & he got his head cut so they had him down too the Dr. & had 3 stitches taken in his forehead. We got home about 11.
Isa, Lester & I went down too Dean's awhile after we got home from Decorah in P.M.

Sun. June 29
Dandy nice warm day. Ruth & the boys were here before S.S. & then she & Danny went too S.S. & left Bill here. Danny came up after S.S. & Ruth came after them after church. We were at Claude's for dinner & then Lester's started for home right after dinner. Mon & I went too the ball game about 3 at B.O. Ossian & B.O. & B.O. won 2-0. Howard & Fern came about 6:45 & we went with them over too the Plymouth church for supper but when we got there they had run out of food so we didn't get supper. Clara McCabe was entertaining. We went on too Canton then & had supper at the Coffee Shop. Good supper. Took a ride up too Harmony after supper & then back home.

Mon. June 30
Dandy nice day. Plenty warm. Mon was at Dean's haying but came home about 1:30 for dinner. He rested awhile & then went back down there again until nite. They finished baling down there this P.M. I washed & ironed. Cleaned out the garden & picked a couple of qts. of berries.

Tues. July 1
Not too nice a day & not too bad either. Rather dark & damp at times & cooler. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. & Arthur's in P.M. He brought the boys home with him at supper time & they stayed all nite. Alberta Broghammer & Charley Breistsprecher were married at Dubuque today.

Wed. July 2
Very warm day. We took the boys home about 8 & then about 9:45 Ruth, the boys & I went over & got Iona, Linda & Tommy & went too Decorah. Left Iona, Linda & Tommy at the Clinic too have the stitches taken out of his forehead & we went on over town. We got back too Dean's about 11:45 & I stayed there. Ruth & the boys went home. Joyce H. rode out from Decorah with us too. Mon & Arthur worked at Arthur's part of the A.M. putting in bales & then went too Dean's & did the same the rest of the day. It was terribly hot in P.M. We came home about 5:30 & Mon had a bath. It was so hot we didn't have supper until about 7:30 & then had a cold supper. We went up too Ada's awhile after we had supper. Dr. & Norma were there. Had a bad storm in the nite. Rained very hard & the wind blew hard too.

Thurs. July 3
Nice day. We went too Decorah early in A.M. Got my hair fixed & Mon got a hair cut. He was at Arthur's in P.M. Ruth & Danny went too Bazaar Booster's in P.M. & Bill stayed with me. Lester & Isa came just after we had supper. They went down too Dell's after supper & we went down town. Mon went too Lodge. I met with the menu com. of the Joan of Arc too plan the ice cream social.

Fri. July 4
Dandy nice day. Mon went too Arthur's early in A.M. too mow. We took our dinner's & went too Dean's. Arthur was plowing corn there & Mon, Ruth & the boys came over there for dinner too. Had a good picnic dinner. Mon went back too Arthur's & mowed until about 4. Finished that piece. Lester went down too Fred Lange's in P.M. awhile. We came home about 4:30. Claude & Olive were over awhile early in eve & then we went down too the Hall too a dance. Not too big a crowd out but we had a good time. Charlie Olson's Orchestra. Music not too good.

Sat. July 5
Dandy nice day. Mon was at Dean's hauling in bales all day. Lester, Isa & I left here about 10:30 & went for a ride. Landed in Decorah about 1. Had dinner there. Went down too see Joann Emery. They were just taking her outside in the wheel chair when we got there. She seems quite a lot better. But is pretty well paralzed yet. Stopped at Babe's awhile on our way home. Isa, Olive & I went down town after supper & then right back. We stopped at Olive's awhile on our way back. Marion & Gloria Ann came while we were there. Lester went down town but Mon didn't.

Sun. July 6
Nice day. Quite warm. Did cloud up off & on all day but didn't rain. Quite a breeze. Got up about 4:15 & got breakfast ready so when Lester & Isa got up about 5 they could eat. They left about 5:30 for home. Mon worked at Arthur's raking hay. Ruth bro't Bill up at S.S. time & left him & she & Danny went too S.S. Danny came up after S.S. & Ruth came after them after church. I went home too dinner with them. We came home about 4:30. Arthur finished baling that field of hay today. We went too Mabel K's in eve too a party for Alberta & Charley. Lots of pop & beer & some "hard stuff". Big crowd. We came home about 10:30.

Mon. July 7
Rained almost all day & quite hard at times. Quit late in P.M. Didn't do much of anything. Went too Lodge in eve. Had a Joint Public Installation in the lower hall after Lodge. Decorah I.O.O.F. & Rebekahs were up & did the work. Had a lunch afterward. Not too many out, but a good crowd too.

Tues. July 8
Dandy nice day. Mon was at the boys Dean's in A.M. & Arthur's in P.M. I washed. Ruth came about 2 & I went too Decorah with her. We got back too their place just as Mon was ready too come home so I came on home with him.

Wed. July 9
Nice day. Somewhat cooler & quite breezy. Mon was at Arthur's today. I went too W.S.C.S. meeting at Anita's with Ruth in P.M. Not too many out. Had a nice lunch. Had a letter from Isa.

Nice day. Mon was at Dean's haying in A.M. I worked in the garden & mowed lawn. Mon came home at noon & helped mow, in P.M. I went too Mabel about 4 with Ruth & the boys. Elsie was along too. The M.E. ladies had a supper at their church. They started serving at 5. We got too eat then so we were home before 6. Had a very good meal. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. July 11
Rather cloudy at times during the day. Sprinkled some early in A.M. We went too Dean's early in A.M. I went up in the woods looking for raspberries but hardly any there. Did find a few ripe ones. Sharon Nordsving is there visiting & the kids & I went up in the woods a little ways & got some gooseberries. There are lots of them. The men hauled in the last of the bales at Dean's. Finished about 5:30, so we didn't get home until about 6. Muriel T., Miriam W., & Myrtle S. was here in eve & we planned our dinner for next Thurs. Ruth bro't the boys up here & left them while she went too choir practice.

Sat. July 12
Dandy nice day. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. mowing hay. He took me up too the M.E. church about 3:45. The Joan of Arc had an ice cream Social up there. Elsie, Evelyn U., Dorothea R. & I were on the menu com. so we had too go ahead with it. Had a good crowd out. Got home about 11.

Sun. July 13
Nice day. Quite warm. Mon was down home awhile in A.M. We went too the ball game at B.O. in P.M. Hanover played B.O. & won. We went over too Dean's a few minutes. Si's were there. Went on over too Joe Wilhelm's a minute on our way home. Went too Mabel in eve too the Show "Bend of the River".

Mon. July 14
Rained most of the day & at times quite hard. Cleared off late in P.M. Ada & Peggy were down & spent the eve.

Tues. July 15
Nice day. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. & at Arthur's in P.M. I washed & ironed. I went up too the church in eve. Some of the women were there & we washed all the dishes they were so moldy.

Wed. July 16
Nice day. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. & at Arthur's awhile in P.M. I mowed lawn & worked in the garden. We went down too Dean's & Arthur's awhile in eve. We sold 7 head of young cattle today. Our share was $756.50.

Thurs. July 17
Nice day. Mon was at Arthur's all day haying. Claude took me up too the church about 10 A.M. Muriel T., Miriam W., Myrtle Snell & I entertained W.S.C.S. dinner. Had a good dinner & a good crowd. Ruth bro't me home about 3. It looked quite rainy in P.M. & eve but didn't rain. Mon didn't go too Lodge. Mon had a letter from Warren with $34.00 of oil money.

Fri. July 18
Rained early in A.M. & was cloudy until later in P.M. it cleared off. Mon went down too Arthur's a little while early in A.M. & when he came back we went too Decorah. Got my hair fixed. Mon went down too Arthur's about 2 & was there the rest of the P.M. fixing the mower.

Sat. July 19
Dandy nice day & very warm. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. & then he baled hay for Joe Wilhelm in P.M. We went too Decorah in eve. I stopped at Krumm's & Mon went too Monson's garage & bought 4 new tires & had them put on the car. We went over town a little while afterward. The wind blew very hard while we were coming home & it looked like a bad storm. Didn't rain until after we got home & then not too much.

Sun. July 20
Rained some early in A.M. & very hard part of A.M. here. We got up early, went & got Dean's & went down too Hills too have a picnic at Marie & Paul's. We left Dean's at 6:10. Got off the right road at Cedar Rapids & went too Mount Vernon so then we had too go from there too Iowa City & then too Hill's. We got there a little after 10. Claude, Olive & Leonard went & Marion & Gloria Ann had gone down Sat. so we were all there & had a good dinner & good time. The men watched television in P.M. & we women & kids went out too the farm where Pauls' [did?] live & have their garden & got tomatoes & cabbage. Had lunch again when we got back. Left there just after 4. Stopped at Olwein & had a lunch & drink & then on home. Stopped at Dean's a minute & got home about 9. We had such a good time & it was such a nice day, down there. Linda, Marjorie & Garry had such a good time. Tommy had a big time too.

Mon. July 21
Mighty hot muggy day although the wind blew quite hard all day. Mon was at Arthur's harvesting all day. I washed & ironed. We went too Lodge in eve. Not too many out.

Tues. July 22
Another hot muggy windy day. Mon was at Arthur's. I mowed lawn until it got too warm. Looked quite rainy in eve but it didn't rain much. Got cooler after the rain.

Wed. July 23
Nice day. Some cooler. Quite cool. Mon was at Dean's today. They cut grain. I finished mowing the lawn & worked in the garden some. Mon went down town a while in eve. Mon, Linda & Tommy were here a minute at noon. They came after some binder twine. Peggy was here awhile too about noon.

Thurs. July 24
Nice day. Cool. Mon was at Dean's cutting & shocking grain until about 4 & then he went over too Arthur's & baled hay until about 7:30. He got home, had a bath & got clean clothes & then went too Lodge. I went down town.

Fri. July 25
Nice day & plenty warm. Mon was at Arthur's all day cutting grain. I went too Club at Alice W's in P.M. with Ruth. Quite a few out & still quite a few were not there. Had a good lunch. Got a letter from Isa.

Sat. July 26
Very warm day again. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. They finished cutting grain. We went too Decorah in P.M. Plenty warm down there. Went down too Dean's a minute after we got home. They bro't Linda & Tommy up in eve & left them all nite. We went down town awhile in eve.

Sun. July 27
Very warm day again. Nice until late in P.M. it clouded up. Rained in eve & in the nite. Mon took Linda & Tommy home about 7:45. Ruth bro't Bill up & left him & she & Danny went too S.S. Danny came up after S.S. & stayed until after church. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show. "Pa & Ma Kettle At the Fair". It was sure funny. It rained while we were in the show & the lightning was quite fierce coming home.
Gas tank went dry this noon.

Mon. July 28
Dandy nice day. Cool. Mon was at Dean's all day. Digging cellar. I washed & ironed & mowed lawn. Arthur & Ruth bro't the boys up in P.M. & left them while they went too Decorah. Cool nite.

Tues. July 29
Nice day but cool. It did cloud up at times & looked rainy but just sprinkled a little. Mon was at Arthur's part of the day & part of the day at Dean's. They finished hauling in bales at Arthur's & finished the cellar at Dean's. I went too Decorah in P.M. with Gladys A. we did a little shopping & then went down too the Hospital too see Ole. He has been there since last Thurs. Is some better. We went down town awhile in eve. Cool nite.

Wed. July 30
Nice day but cool. Mon went too Prosper a little while in A.M. & then he worked here at the house at the window shades. I got some new ones & he put them all up today. All down stairs. "Bert" & Genev were here awhile after dinner.

Thurs. July 31
Nice day. Rather cool. We went too Decorah about 8:30. Mon got his hair cut & I got mine fixed. Got new curtains for the 3 rooms down stairs. Had sent too Sears for them. We got home about 12. Mon put up new curtain rods in P.M. & we got the new curtains up. Went down too Dean's about 7:30 & got 3 chickens too dress. Stopped down town on our way home & Mon went too Lodge. I went too an ice cream social on the Lutheran church lawn awhile.

Fri. Aug. 1
Dandy nice day. Did a little of everything & not much of anything. Mon didn't go too either farm today.

Dandy nice day plenty warm. Didn't do much of anything. Went down town awhile in eve.

Quite nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & rained. Quite hard for a little while & then just sprinkled for a while. Got cooler. We went too Mabel in eve too the Show. "Here Comes the Nelsons". It was funny.

Mon. Aug. 4
Not too nice, rather cloudy & damp but it didn't rain. Mon was down too Dean's part of the day. Went up too the M.E. church basement in P.M. Had a "Stork Shower" for Bessie Ward. Quite a few out & she got nice gifts & quite a little money. Had a swell lunch. Went too Lodge in eve. Not too many out. Cold nite.

Tues. Aug. 5
Dandy nice day but cool. We went too Dean's early in A.M. They threshed at Howard's in A.M. & at Dean's in P.M. Didn't finish until about 6. Not too much grain. Too hot weather & too windy when it shouldn't have been for the grain. Some over 400 bu. I helped Iona with the dishes so we didn't get home until about 8:30.

Wed. Aug. 6
Dandy nice day. I washed in A.M. Mon went down too Dean's early in A.M. & then he brought Linda & Tommy home with him. Iona went too Ruth Knoke's wedding at the Plymouth Church. She & May C. went. They came after the kids just as we were eating. Tommy went with them but Linda stayed & finished her dinner. Mon took me over too Min Gates after dinner & then went on & took Linda down. Some of us quilted at Min's. I ironed in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Thurs. Aug. 7
Nice day. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. We went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. We went too Decorah in P.M. awhile.

Fri. Aug. 8
Not very nice early in A.M. & then it started too rain about 10:30 & kept it up until in P.M. Rained again in eve & with quite a lot of thunder & lightning then. We went too Arthur's early in A.M. too thresh. They just got nicely started when it rained so we didn't have the men for dinner although we were ready for them. Mon took Dean home when it rained & then he came on home. Arthur bro't me home in P.M.

Sat. Aug. 9
Nice day but cool. Mon went down too Dean's early in A.M. but it had rained so much the men couldn't work at the foundation so he came home. He took me up too the church about 3 P.M. The W.S.C.S. had an ice cream Social in the basement. Good crowd out. Took in about $55. Joyce & Wayne bro't me home.

Nice day some warmer. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up about 9 A.M. & left them & they went fishing. Clyde's were with them. Danny came up after S.S. & stayed until after church. Chas. & Helen came just after dinner. We went down home too see the old house & stopped at Arthur's a few minutes. They stayed until about 7. Dean's came after the kids about 6. Rained in the eve & nite.

Not too nice early in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day. Mon went down too Dean's awhile in P.M. & I went down too Hilda R's too quilt. Cool nite.

Nice day. We went too Arthur's early in A.M. They threshed today & got through. Helped Ruth with the supper dishes & got home about 7. Fred Walter's threshed this year.

Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & looked quite rainy but didn't rain. Some warmer. I washed & ironed in A.M. Mon was down too Arthur's in A.M. & again in P.M. They were baling straw in P.M. I went too W.S.C.S. at Mrs. Arnold's in P.M.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. It did cloud up just after noon & rained quite hard for a few minutes. Quite hard thunder & lightning but it cleared off right away again. Mon was at Arthur's baling straw again. I hoed in the garden & pulled weeds & mowed part of the lawn in A.M. Went too Mabel in P.M. with Zoa too a Methodist supper. We went about 4 & got back about 6. Good supper. They had a flower show & some beautiful flowers. Went down town awhile in eve.

Dandy nice day. Mon went too Prosper awhile in A.M. too see about the carpenter's. We went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed. Went down too Dean's after supper & got some eggs & 3 chickens. Stopped down town on our way home. No one in town.

Nice day. Ruth bro't Bill up & left him while she & Danny went to S.S. & then Danny came up after S.S. & Ruth came after them after church. We went down too Arthur's after dinner & got the tarp & took it over home & put it on the lumber & insulating boards they had there as it looked quite rainy for awhile but didn't rain any. Came back & stopped at Arthur's awhile. Roger & his family are visiting at Krumm's & they were all at Arthur's. We went down on Joe Wilhelm's fishing later in P.M. Got 40 some.

Mon. Aug. 18
Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon was at Arthur's all day helping him get in hay bales. Ruth & the boys bro't up Bill's bed late in P.M. We went too Lodge in eve. Not too many out. The carpenter's started work on the new kitchen down home today.

Tues. Aug. 19
Quite cloudy & damp early in A.M. but did brighten up later in the day but it was cloudy off & on all day. Had a very bad storm in the nite. Rained very hard with plenty of bad thunder & lightning. Very bad storms around Iowa. Quite a lot of hail but we didn't get [any?] of that. Arthur's came a little after 7 & left Bill. They are on their way to a vacation out west. Took Danny. Mon went down too Dean's early in A.M. He had too go to Prosper about 9:30 & had Linda & Tommy with him & then Bill & I went too Dean's with him & spent the day. The carpenter's are coming along just fine. We went too Bluffton in eve too see about getting Harold Christopher too build the chimney.

Very nice at times & looked very rainy at times to but it only sprinkled a little. We went too Dean's early in A.M. Iona & I dressed 12 young chickens. Put 11 of them in the freezer. We picked cucumbers & did odd jobs also. I went over too Charlene's in eve with Joyce & Wayne too a menu com. meeting with those 2 girls Alice W. & Fern. Planning annual dinner. Got home about 12:30. Cool nite. Had a letter from Isa.

Dandy nice day. Mon was at Deans all day. He had too go too Decorah late in A.M. so he came on up home for dinner. He went too Lodge in eve. Had a card from Arthur's.

Dandy nice day. Mon was at Dean's all day. Dean & Linda bro't some kindling up in P.M. but were not here long. They were all here a few minutes in eve. They had a dance at the hall this eve but we didn't go.

Dandy nice day. Mon was at Dean's. He & Linda came up shortly after dinner & Linda stayed here while Mon went too Prosper. Bill & I went home with them & then we came home about 3:30. Mon went down town in eve. Had a card from Arthur's.

Nice day. Didn't do much. Olive, Mettie & Leonard were here a few minutes in P.M. Cool nite.

Nice day. I washed & ironed & did odd jobs. Mon was at Dean's all day. Harry Feltis & wife & May Pierce were here a few minutes in P.M. I went up too Arnold's in eve too a meeting. We had 2 cards from Arthur's today.

Nice day although it did look rainy at times & sprinkled a little. We dug our potatoes today. Dean was here a little while in A.M. & Mon was down there a little while. The carpenters finished there about 2:30 P.M. Mon went down town in eve.

Wed. Aug. 27
Dandy nice day & quite warm. We went down too Dean's a few minutes early in A.M. & then went too Decorah. Left Bill with Mrs. K. while we went over town. Were not down long. Got home before dinner. Mon went too Dean's in P.M. too paint. Aunt Eunice & Lizzie were here a few minutes in eve. I went down too Joyce H's in eve with Alice & Fern too finish up our annual dinner business. Got home about 12:30.

Thurs. Aug. 28
Nice day. Quite warm. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. He came home for dinner & didn't go back in P.M. Arthur, Ruth & Danny came about 11 A.M. They didn't stay long, just picked up some of Bill's stuff & him & went home. They came up later in P.M. & got his bed & the rest of his things. They had a fine trip. They stopped at Cecilia's & Kenneth had passed away very suddenly the 11th. We had a card from them this forenoon just before they came. Went down town in eve awhile.

Not very nice day. Rained off & on all day. Mon took Olive & I too Club at Valeda W's in P.M. Not too many out. Had such a good lunch. We rode home with Lettie W. Mon sold Barney & Nancy today.

Sat. Aug. 30
Quite a nice day. We went too Decorah about 10:30. Got my hair fixed. We went too Harmony in eve too finish paying off the carpenters & then we went too the Show "New Mexico" & "Father Takes the Air". Didn't like the first too well but the second was funny.

Cloudy part of the time in A.M. Looked quite rainy but it was nice in P.M. We had an early dinner & went too Cresco to the Fair. It was the "Thrillcade". Lots of cars doing stunts. Plenty noisy. Large crowd. We had lunch out there before we came home. Stopped at Dean's & Arthur's a few minutes on our way home. Little son born too Bessie & Percy Ward about 3 A.M.

Nice day. Warmer. Mon was at Dean's all day. I went too Lutheran L.A.S. for dinner. Had a good dinner. Went down too Genev & Josie's. "Bert" & Josie went too Decorah & I went with Joyce, Genev & Shelia Meer to Harmony. Genev went up too see the Dr.

Thurs. Sept. 4
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. Ruth bro't Bill up in P.M. & left him while she went too "Bazaar Boosters" at Joyce's. Mon was at Dean's in P.M. Ruth took Iona, Vera Q., May W., Olive & I too a "Shower" at Jessie Walter's in eve for Virginia. Decorah ladies & most of them were strangers too us. Virginia got so many & such nice gifts. Had such a nice lunch too. Got home about 11:30.

Fri. Sept. 5
Dandy nice warm day. We went too Decorah early in A.M. Mon got a hair cut. Got home about 12. We got our cupboards I had ordered from Sears. Mon was at Dean's in P.M. We went to the dance at the hall in eve. Quite a few out. Abner Hanson's orchestra from Canton played. Didn't like them too well. We got supper

Quite a nice day. Did a little of everything & not too much of anything. Dean's bro't Tommy up in eve & kept him while they went too Mabel too the Show. We had a lot of fun with him. Mon worked at the cupboards awhile today.

Nice day. Ruth bro't Bill up & left him while she & Danny went too S.S. Danny walked up after S.S. & then Ruth came after them when church was over. Mon was quite sick for awhile at noon. His leg hurt him terribly but we don't know what it was. He was much better in P.M.

Very nice day. Quite warm. I washed & ironed, canned tomatoes & made pickles. Mon was at Dean's all day painting. He worked at the cup boards in eve awhile.

Dandy nice warm day. Mon was at Dean's. Ruth & the boys were up awhile in P.M. We went down to Deans' just after supper & got some milk & eggs. Mon worked at the cupboard's after he got home from Dean's & again in eve.

Dandy nice warm day. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. helping haul in hay. He came home for dinner & worked at the cup boards in P.M. & eve. I sand papered part of the cupboard & varnished it in A.M. Went too W.S.C.S. at Margaret Wards in P.M. with Zoa. Not too many out. Went up too Arnold's in eve too a meeting. Rode home with Paul & Miriam. Talked with Marvin this P.M. He was in Omaha & called his folks but they were in La Crosse so I talked with him. Had a letter from Isa.

Rather misty & dark for awhile in A.M. but cleared off before noon & was a very nice warm day. Arthur bro't Bill up here & bro't Ruth & Danny too S.S. Danny came up after S.S. & Ruth came up after church & then Arthur came & they were here for dinner. Dean came after dinner & wanted some help so we all went down there. We emptied the deep freeze & they put it down in the basement. Stanley & Lelia were there. We had lunch there then before we came home. Arthur's bro't us home & they went right on home. Got cooler late in P.M. Mary Ellen Harvey & Otis Rustad married this eve.

Dandy nice day but some cooler. I washed & ironed in A.M. Went up too the church basement & cleaned the stove & washed dishes in P.M. Not too many out too help. Went too Lodge in eve. Iona bro't Linda & Tommy up there just after Lodge was out & left them with us. They went too the Rustad Shower dance. We had lunch at the hall. Quite a few out to Lodge.
Marvin was home when we came home from Lodge.

Tues. Sept. 16
Dandy nice day. Warmer. I washed the wool blanket, bed spread & some other things early this A.M. Dean's came after the kiddies about 9. They were going too Decorah. They bro't me some cream too churn & I churned it after dinner. Arthur's bro't Bill up about 12 & they went too Decorah. They came after him about 5. Marvin & Virginia were here in P.M. too. We got our invitation too their wedding. We washed the car in P.M.

Wed. Sept. 17
Dandy nice day. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. but came home for dinner. I canned tomatoes & gathered tomatoes, cukes & ground cherries from the garden in A.M. We cleaned & waxed the car in P.M. Peggy was down awhile & then Lucile & Len Mason were here awhile so Mon had too do some of the cleaning alone. He went down town a little while in eve.

Thurs. Sept. 18
Rained some in A.M. but cleared off in P.M. & was nice but cooler. Dean came up & got Mon early in A.M. too help him awhile he was home about 11. I went up too the M.E. church too W.S.C.S. dinner. Mrs. L. Knowlton, Violet U., Margaret W. & Lucile O. entertained. Very large crowd out & a very good dinner. They took in over $96. Ruth & the boys bro't me home. We went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge.

Our 36th Wedding Anniversary. Nice day. We went too Decorah about 11. I got my hair fixed. We got home about 2. Marvin & Virginia Q. were married this eve at 8 at the Lutheran Church. We went. Quite a few out. "Ginny" was a beautiful bride. Marion & Gloriann were their attendants. Gloriann wore orchid & "Ginny" white. Had a nice lunch after the wedding in the basement. Got home about 10. Marvins went on a wedding trip shortly after the wedding. They were at Claude's for awhile & then went. Cool nite.

Nice day. We took Claudes & went for a ride. Left home about 10. Went too Marquette & then on too McGregor. Back too Marquette & then across the bridge too Prairie Du Chein. Went too the Rose Park Zoo. Were there quite a while. They were having a horse shoe tournament & some from B.O. were there. We went on up the river too La Crosse & on home. Got home between 5 & 6. Had a nice ride. Cool nite.

Nice day. I washed & ironed & canned some tomatoes. Mon went down too Dean's in P.M. too help him fix the hog house. Had a letter from Isa. Cool nite.

Tues. Sept. 23
32º this morn. Some frost but didn't hurt anything. Nice day. Mon went down too Dean's early in A.M. & got his pick-up. He & Linda bro't a jag of old wood up too saw up & use for stove wood. We loaded up a load of ashes & took them too the sink hole at Dean's. I went in & visited with Iona & Tommy. Mon & I loaded up a load of kindling then & bro't it home. Helped Mon load up another load of ashes after dinner & then I went down too Hilda R's. for awhile. Mon hauled one more load & that took all the ashes. Cool nite.

Dandy nice day. Did a little of everything. We went down too Dean's in eve & got some eggs & 4 young roosters too dress.

Dandy nice day. Mon went down too Arthur's early in A.M. & helped him awhile. He was home for dinner. I went too the Lutheran dinner in eve. Very large crowd out & they had a very good dinner (Turkey). Went back down town & sat in the car with Olive & Mrs. Knut Hammre until Mon came from Lodge. Dressed the young roosters early in A.M. We went down too Wallace Christopherson's in P.M. & got a few apples.

Sure had a good dinner & quite a visiting time. Quite a few pictures taken. Got home about 5. We went down too Arthur's awhile in eve.

Mon went too Dean's in P.M. I went too Prosper in eve with Merle & Elsie too the Prosper ladies Sale & lunch. They had very nice things too sell & they went good. Large crowd. Had a nice lunch. About 25º this morn. Nice day. Warmed up quite a little. Plenty windy. I shucked walnuts part of the time. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up in P.M. & left them while they went too Decorah. We listened too the ball game Dodgers 5 Yankees 3. Went too the dance in eve. Dewey Golbergs played. Had a pretty good time. Got cooler in the nite. D 5 Y 3.

Quite a few out. We had dinner at the Lutheran church. Elsie went along too. Good speaker from Burma in P.M. We stopped down town (Cresco) on our way home for a little while. Got home about 5:45.

Arthur's came about 2 & wanted us too go for a ride with them so we did. Went up north of Prosper & around by Lenora & Canton & then back east past Macha's & then on home. Had a nice ride & the trees in the woods were beautiful. Mon took Claude & I up too Mrs. Lovlien's after we got back too an open house birthday party for Tilla & Jane. Quite a few there when we were there even though it was rather late in P.M. Had a nice lunch with beautiful birthday cakes.

Lloyd, Elanor & Donna went with us. A man from near Charles City had a phonograph for music & he called. I really had a lot of fun. Got home about 1. Winfield combined at Dean's today. He started in A.M. today.

Nice day but terribly windy. Wind got around into the north late in P.M. & it got much colder. Ruth bro't the boys up & left them in P.M. while she went too Decorah. Winfield didn't combine today.

Quite a nice day but chilly. Mon went down too Dean's in P.M. They finished combining. We had a surprise birthday party on Ada in P.M. although her birthday isn't until Sat. About 40 there. She was so surprised. We had picnic lunch & such a good one. We went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge. Started too snow while we were down town & snowed until the ground was white.

Fri. Oct. 17
Nice day but chilly. We went too Decorah about 9:30. Mon got a hair cut & I got a permanent. We didn't get home until nearly 4. Got 2 new table lamps. Went too the dance in eve. Pretty good crowd out. Dewey G's played. Put on a new gas tank at the hall tonite.

Nice day. Mon was at Dean's part of the day. We went down town awhile in eve.

Nice day. I went too church in A.M. We went down too Dean's awhile in P.M. Stopped at Arthur's awhile on our way home. Went too Mabel in eve too the Show "We're Not Married". It was funny. Cold nite.

Mon. Oct. 20
10º this morn. Very cold early in A.M. but warmed up during the day some. I washed & ironed in A.M. Mon baled straw for Lester Bronner in A.M. He & Linda came up after me in P.M. Albert Emery sawed wood down home this P.M. We got home about 6. I went too Lodge in eve. Not too many out. Had lunch. Cool nite.

Tues. Oct. 21
20º this morn. Nice bright day but quite windy. Mon baled straw for Lester again today. He got home about 2. Ruth bro't the boys up & left them in P.M. while she went too Decorah. After Mon got home we went down too Dean's thinking we would bring him a pick up load of wood but the pick up had a flat tire & Dean's were gone so we didn't get any wood. Mon went down town awhile in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Wed. Oct. 22
Nice day. Quite warm. Mon started working at carpenter work this morn at Erlin Stortz's. He is working for Charlie Breitsprecher. I was at the church basement most of P.M. Making dressing, stuffing turkey's & cleaning up. Charlene & Alice took the 14 turkeys too Harmony late in P.M. too be roasted. We went down too Dean's a few minutes in eve too get the beans Iona baked for me.

Thurs. Oct. 23
Dandy nice warm day. Mon worked at Erlin's. I went up too the church about 1:30 P.M. We sure worked getting ready for the dinner. Had our turkeys back about 4:00 & Fern & I made all the gravy at Rev. Arnold's. They started serving the dinner at 5 & finished up about 8:30. Fern & I got back over too the church too help about 6:30. Large crowd out & we didn't run out of anything. Didn't have quite enough pumpkin pie though. Had turkey, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, baked beans, buttered corn, pickles, cranberry relish, jelly, fruit salad, rolls, pie & coffee. Took in over $600.00. Arthur & Ruth bro't me home about 9:45. We didn't try too clean up the mess up there

Dandy nice warm day. Mon was at Erlin's. Peggy was down awhile about noon. I went up too the church in P.M. We washed all the dishes & got our dishes straightened around.

Windy & cool day, but nice. Mon was at Erlin's. I washed & ironed. I went too Canton in eve with Gladys A. too a party put on by the Rebekah's. We went in Haloween costume & put on a little dialogue. Quite a few out but only 4 from B.O. Had a good time & a nice lunch. Cold nite.

Tues. Oct. 28
About 5º this morn. Chilly windy day but nice & bright. Mon didn't go over too Erlin's until after 9 as he thought it was too windy too put up rafter but they called for him so he went. Rosella Houdeck was here awhile early in A.M. & Ruth & the boys were here awhile in P.M.
Gas tank went dry.

Dandy nice day. Warmer. Mon was at Erlin's today. I went over to Bess Ward's in P.M. too see Annie. She has been sick & in the Hospital but is better now & is staying at Bessie's awhile. I went up to the church in eve too a meeting. "Week of Self Denial etc". Not very many out. Ruth bro't me home.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Mon was at Erlin's. He went too Lodge in eve & I went up to the Lutheran Bazaar & lunch. They had so many nice things too sell & a good lunch. Clifford Dinger's oldest boy ran into a car going across the street from [Leon's?] to Gene's & was terribly badly hurt. They rushed him right too the Decorah Hospital & then too Rochester about 12. The accident happened about 10. 2 young men from Mabel were in the car that hit him.

Fri. Oct. 31
Nice warm day. Mon was at Erlin's. I went too Club in P.M. at the M.E. church parlor's. Luella Y. entertained. Not too many out. Had a nice lunch. Went too the dance in eve. Not too many out to that either but they had a good time. Oscar Skaim, Geo. Williams & a Moen boy played. They were pretty good.

Nice day but a little cooler in A.M. Warmed up though. Got cloudy late in P.M. Mon & I both have colds that came on suddenly last nite so he didn't go too Erlin's. We went down to Deans in A.M. a little while. Went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed. Stopped at Wepler's & got Dean's bacon so we took that to them on our way home. Both felt so bum we didn't go down town in eve.

Quite a nice day but windy & rather cool. We were alone all day & eve. Both of our colds are better today. Old Mr. Breitsprecher passed away this A.M.

Mon. Nov. 3
Nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon went over too Erlin's in A.M. too work but none of the other men showed up so he came home. Went down too Arthur's & Dean's in P.M. They are picking corn at Arthur's. I went too Lodge in eve. Quite a few out. Hazel Houdeck was up & gave her report from Rebekah Assembly. Adeline M. was with her. The I.O.O.F. & Rebekahs had an oyster supper. They had invited in some. They played cards awhile after Lodge & after supper.

Tues. Nov. 4
Election Day. Nice day. Mon left a little after 7 for the hall & was there all day & nite. He came home for dinner & supper. It was 5 A.M. when he got home. Dean's came up in A.M. too vote & left the kids here while they went down to the hall. Olive & I went too vote in P.M. & then went on up & called on Lydia Ward. Dorothea was there too. Lydia & Ernie have moved up into Pauls house & he has moved over into Maude W's house. I sat up until after 1 listening too Election returns. Ike Eisenhower won out over Pres. Truman with a big majority. Almost everything went Republican. Went up to Ada's awhile late in P.M.

Nice day but terribly windy. Mon didn't work today either. I went up too Lutheran Aide for dinner. Not too many out but they had a good dinner. Old Mr. Breitsprecher was buried today.

Nice day but very windy. Mon took me down too Ruths about 9:30. He stayed there until after dinner & then he came home. Ruth had Bazaar Boosters in P.M. She invited in a few of us & then she & Phyllis W. gave a demonstration on making fancy sandwiches & they were good to. I rode home with Joyce. Had a letter from Isa. Went down town in eve awhile.

Fri. Nov. 7
Dandy nice day. Mon worked at Erlin's. I went up to Fern's a little after 10 with Florence. Quite a few ladies were there & we tied 2 quilts & fixed another satin one. Didn't finish the satin one in P.M. I came home with Rosella H. & then went back up after supper with Margaret & Earl W. & we finished the satin one. We all took dinner & had a good one. Had lunch in P.M. & again in eve. Ada & Peggy left this morning for Norma's. Ada will stay at Norma's but Peggy will go to the Cities too be with Glen.

Nice day. Mon was at Erlin's. I went too Decorah in P.M. with Claude's. We went down town in eve.

Nice day. Warmer. Mon was at Erlin's. Dr., Norma & Ada were down in A.M. & I went up there to see them a few minutes. Ruth & the boys were here a little while in P.M. & Dean & Linda were here awhile in eve.

Wed. Nov. 12
Nice day. Mon was at Dean's all day. He had too go to Prosper early in A.M. & get some more wire cribbing & then make a crib down there. He helped pick corn the rest of the day. I went too Ruth's in P.M with Florence to the W.S.C.S. meeting. Quite a few out. Had quite a long session of it. Had a good lunch. Little son born to Marie & Paul Snyder today. "Bert" & Charlie B. were up & spent the eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Thurs. Nov. 13
Quite a warm day but the sun didn't shine all day, only at times. Mon didn't work today, only around home some. We went down town in eve awhile. He went to Lodge. Olive & Claude went to Marie's this morning too stay awhile.

Nice day. Mon was at Erlin's today. Dean came up in P.M. late. They had been too Decorah & Iona went too the Dr. & he told her she had a cancer on her breast. We went down there awhile after supper. Stanley & Lelia were there. Went to the dance in eve & quite a few out. Skaim boys & Geo. W. played. They were good.

Sat. Nov. 15
Nice day. We went too Decorah about 11. Got my hair fixed & Mon got a hair cut. Didn't go down town in eve.

Sun. Nov. 16
Rather dark all day & warm. Started too sprinkle just after dinner & we had a few showers in P.M. with quite a bit of thunder & lightning. Kept it up that way all nite too. I went too church in A.M. We went down too Dean's about 4 & stayed until about 6. Lloyd's, Stanley's & Clyde & Edna & the kids were there.

Mon. Nov. 17
Rained off & on all A.M. & some after dinner & then later in P.M. it cleared off quite a little. Quite windy in P.M. We went down too Dean's about 6:30 A.M. & they & Lelia were just about ready too start for Rochester. I stayed with Linda & Tommy. Mon came up home awhile in A.M. but back there for dinner & stayed the P.M. He & Linda hauled in corn fodder & did odd jobs & then Linda & Tommy went too sleep & slept the rest of the P.M. Iona M. was over awhile in P.M. The folks got home a little after 5 & we stayed there & had lunch & then came home about 6:30.

Tues. Nov. 18
Not too nice a day. Rather dark most of the day & damp at times too. Quite windy. I washed & ironed. Dean's went back to Rochester this morning. Lloyd's went with them. They stopped a minute on their way home but didn't know any thing. Iona had X rays today. Mon went down too Dean's just after dinner & Linda came home with him & spent the P.M. They went back again about 4:30. Dean, Si. & the boys were here awhile in eve. Had a letter from Olive.

Wed. Nov. 19
Sun shone some in A.M. but clouded up & was dark & damp the most of the day. Snowed some & rained some. Dean & Iona went back too Rochester early this A.M. Dean got back here about 6 P.M. but Iona stayed up for her operation in the morning. We went down there awhile after he got home. Had a letter from Isa.

Thurs. Nov. 20
Nice day. We went down too Dean's a little after 7. Dean & Lelia left about 8 for Rochester. Mon came back up home & was up here most of A.M. but was at Dean's for dinner. He & Linda were out most of the P.M. Dean & Lelia came back about 5. Iona had her operation this A.M. & came through it O.K. & it was not cancer. We were all so thankful. Came home & had our supper & then I went up too the church. We had our bazaar at the church basement. Had some beautiful things for sale. Wennes & Halverson were the auctioneers. Everything went good. Had a lunch afterward. Ruth & Danny bro't me home about 10.

Fri. Nov. 21
Nice day. Mon was at Erlin's all day. I went too Rochester with May, Wallace & Dean & spent most of the day with Iona at the Colonial Hospital. She is feeling pretty good & is up some. We got home about 5:30. Claude & Olive came home this P.M. & she was over a little while in eve. Mrs. Tilla Lovlien passed away quite suddenly in eve.

Sat. Nov. 22
Nice day. Dean & Linda came up about 9 & we took our car & went too Rochester after Iona. She got out of the Hospital about 11 & we left right away for home. Got down too Dean's about 12:30. We had dinner down there & then after dishes Mon & I went too Decorah. Iona stood the trip home pretty good only she was a little tired. We went down town awhile in eve. Wind blew quite hard the late part of P.M. & eve.

Sun. Nov. 23
Nice day. I went too church in A.M. Arthur's bro't Bill up just after dinner & left him & they went too Decorah to the Show. Jordan, Charlene & the kiddies were here awhile in P.M. We went too Mabel in eve to the show Lewis & Marin in "Jumping Jacks". It was funny. Cold nite.

Mon. Nov. 24
Not very nice day. Rather dark & damp. Mon was at Erlin's until about 2 P.M. They finished the hen house. Dean & Iona went too Rochester early this A.M. They stopped a minute on their way home. Iona had her [sores?] dressed. They took the most of the dressings off she said. Started too snow about 5 P.M. Snowed quite hard in eve. I went too Decorah in eve with Dorothea R., Elsie S., Inez W. & Joyce H. We went too the Decorah M.E. ladies sale & lunch. Quite a crowd out but their articles didn't go as well as ours. I bought an African violet plant for 50¢. Had a nice lunch. We had quite a time getting up the big hill. Plenty slippery, but no trouble any where else. Got home about 11:30

Not very nice day. Rained & snowed off & on all day. Some times quite hard. Rained quite hard in eve. Stormed all nite. Got colder in the latter part of the nite & the ice froze some on the paving. Went too Mrs. Lovlien's funeral at the Lutheran church in P.M. Quite a large crowd & beautiful flowers. Olaf & Kate came back for the funeral.

Wed. Nov. 26
Not very nice day. Snowed & blowed all day. Not so cold until late in P.M. it got quite a lot colder. Didn't do much of anything.

Thurs. Nov. 27
Not too nice a day & still not too bad. Rather cold. We went down too Arthur's about 10 A.M. Claude & Olive went with us. Took some of the dinner. Louie & Mrs. K. & Leonard W. came too. Ruth had a goose & we sure had a good dinner. Came home about 4. Mon went down town in eve.

Fri. Nov. 28
10º below early. Nice day. Warmed up some but was a cool day too. Dean & Iona went back too Rochester early this A.M. She had the stitches taken out today. Mon took Olive & I too Club at Laura Headington's in Decorah. Not too large a crowd out. Had nomination of officers. Phyllis Wanless Pres., Luella Y. V. Pres. Evelyn Underbakke Sec., La Vern S. Asst. Sec. Marlyn Q. Treas. Had such a good lunch. Olive & I went in too see Marion & Gloriann a minute & then we rode down too the [Ditto?] with them. Mon came soon & we came home. Went too the dance in eve. Not very many out. Skaim & Williams played.

Quite a nice day. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. for awhile. It did snow some early in A.M. but didn't last long. Didn't do too much. Went down town awhile in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Not very nice day. Snowed off & on all day & some in eve. Not very cold. Went too Lodge in eve. Quite a lot of business. Nomination & Election of officers. Had a lunch.

Tues. Dec. 2
Dark, damp day. Nothing doing. It did thaw quite a little.

Wed. Dec. 3
Dark & dreary day again but not too cold. Dean's came about 8 A.M. & left Linda & Tommy & they went on to Rochester. They got back a little after 12 & had dinner with us & then on home. Iona is O.K. & doesn't have too go back again. Rained late in P.M. & froze as it fell so things got rather icy.

Thurs. Dec. 4
Not very nice day again. Warmer so it thawed the ice of the paving but it snowed lightly off & on. Ruth went too Bazaar Boosters in P.M. & left the boys here. We went down town in eve. Mon went to Lodge & I went over to Mabel Kimbers where some of the ladies met too practice for Installation.

Fri. Dec. 5
Rather a dark day again. I washed & ironed. Mon went too Spring Grove with Ray Henning in A.M. We went too Decorah too Rebekah Lodge in eve. Claude, Olive & Gladys A. went with us. Got home about 11:30.

Sat. Dec. 6
Quite a nice day but chilly. We went too Decorah about 10 A.M. Got my hair fixed. We had dinner in town. I went too see Dr. Dalquist in P.M. Had to wait a long while. Had too go back over town & get some medicine. Went down town awhile in eve.

Sun. Dec. 7
Dandy nice day. Much warmer. Thawed a lot. Dean's bro't Linda & Tommy up a little after 9 & left them while they went to church. They got back about 11 but wouldn't stay for dinner. Gladys A. was here awhile in P.M.

Mon. Dec. 8
Not very nice day. Dark & dreary & damp. Didn't do much. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. Dec. 9
Very nice in A.M. & quite warm. Thawed quite a little. Clouded up in P.M. Got colder in P.M. too. I washed & ironed. Mon went down too Dean's early in A.M. & hauled up a load of wood with the tractor & wagon. He hauled up another one in P.M.

Wed. Dec. 10
Not too nice a day. Dark again. Went too W.S.C.S. at Fern's in P.M. with Brayton & Inez & rode home with Ruth & Bill. Xmas party. Quite a few out. I got a nice condiment set from Ann Underbakke. They are here for Xmas. Had a picnic lunch & a good one.

Thurs. Dec. 11
Not very nice day. Snowed off & on & sometimes quite hard. Went down town in eve. We women practiced at the hall before Lodge. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. Dec. 12
Not too nice a day. Snowed some & blowed some. Arthur came up after me about 2 & took me down there. Ruth had a birthday party for Danny. Quite a few kiddies there & they had a good time & good lunch. Got home about 5. Went too the dance in eve. Not very many out. Bert Yates orchestra. They were good. Had a letter from Isa.

Sat. Dec. 13
Quite a nice day but cold. We went down to Arthur's about 9 & got a goose & over to Harry's & got a duck & took them down town & had them dressed. Didn't get home until after 1. Snowed some in P.M. & eve & was quite blustery in eve. I went down town a few minutes in eve. Cold nite.

Sun. Dec. 14
Danny's 6th Birthday. Sun shone some off & on all day & the wind blew quite hard. Snow drifted some. Arthur's & Dean's were up for dinner.

Mon. Dec. 15
Nice day. Warmed up. I washed & ironed. Dean & Linda were here awhile in P.M. Went too Lodge in eve. Quite a few out. Had a lunch & practiced some.

Tues. Dec. 16
Dandy nice day. Ruth bro't the boys up early & left them while she went to Decorah. She came after them about 1:30. Mon cracked some walnuts for me in P.M.

Wed. Dec. 17
Dandy nice day. We went too Decorah early in A.M. Mon got a hair cut. We got home about 12:45. Dorothea R. was here a few minutes in P.M.

Thurs. Dec. 18
Quite a nice day. Lizzie was here awhile in P.M. Went down town in eve. We women met at the hall & practiced before Lodge. Mon went too Lodge. Some of the women got supper for the men. Oyster stew. Not very many out.

Fri. Dec. 19
Rather a dark dreary day. Chilly. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. for a few minutes. Started to snow about 4:30 & snowed quite hard for awhile. Snowed most of the nite I guess.

Sat. Dec. 20
Snowed awhile early in A.M. but quit before dinner. Rather warm so it thawed in P.M. & the snow plows cleaned off the pavement quite good. We went down town a little while in eve. Made some candy today & put up the Xmas tree & trimmings.

Sun. Dec. 21
Quite a nice warm day. Sun didn't shine much though. I went too church in A.M. Made candy in P.M. Olive & I went too the Lutheran Church in eve to their Xmas program. It was a very good program & the church was packed.

Mon. Dec. 22
Dark damp day again. Snowed off & on & at times quite a little snow fell in P.M. Didn't do much of anything.

Tues. Dec. 23
Another dark, damp day. Thawed quite a little. Took all the snow & ice off the pavement. We went too Decorah about 10 A.M. Got my hair fixed. Mon gave me money too get a new dress for Xmas. Black one. Got home about 1:30. Had a letter from Isa.

Wed. Dec. 24
Quite a nice day. Didn't do too much. Went down too Dean's early in A.M. & got some cream. Olive & I went to the M.E. church in eve to the Xmas program. Quite a crowd out & a pretty good program. Arthur's bro't us home. Mon went down town in eve. Cold nite.

Thurs. Dec. 25
Zero this morn. Very nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. Rather a cold day. Isa & Lester came just after we finished breakfast. Claude, Olive & Leonard were here for dinner with us & spent the eve. Olive bro't part of the dinner.

Fri. Dec. 26
Zero this morn. Quite a nice day. Warmed up some. We went too Dean's for dinner. Arthur's, Claude, Olive & Leonard were there too. Iona sure had a good dinner. We exchanged gifts after dinner & we had lots of fun watching the kiddies with theirs. Went to the dance at the hall in eve. Not very large crowd out & all rather dead. Good music. Bert Yates orchestra. We helped get supper. Cold nite. They had their opening of the new tavern today. Calvin Wright.

Sat. Dec. 27
10º below. Very nice day. Warmed up quite a little. Didn't do too much. Sat around & visited. Went over to Olive's for supper. Leonard was there too. Had a good supper. Cold nite.

Sun. Dec. 28
Just above zero this morn. Nice day. Isa & Lester went home a little after 10 A.M. We were alone all day. I went to Locust in eve with Dean's too their Xmas tree & program. Linda spoke for the first time. Large crowd out & they had 2 such pretty trees & a good program. Had a lunch afterward. We got home about 11:30.

Mon. Dec. 29
Not very nice day & not too bad. Sun didn't shine any. I washed but the clothes didn't dry very good. Mon went down town in eve.

Tues. Dec. 30
A little brighter today but still not a nice day. We went too Decorah a couple of hours in A.M. I ironed in P.M. Dean's were here a few minutes in eve.

Wed. Dec. 31
Not very nice day. Dark & gloomy. Not too cold but chilly. Went down too Mabel Kimbers in A.M. too audit the Rebekah books. Went too Club at Martha Breitsprechers in P.M. with Lettie Wright. Quite a few out. Had the Xmas party. I got a nut grinder. Had a good lunch. Mon went down town awhile in eve.
