Sun. Jan. 1
Not very nice day. Damp & dreary but not cold. Mon worked in A.M. Dell & Mettie were here awhile in eve. Isa came just after we had gone too bed. She came up with Floyd A.

Mon. Jan. 2
Another dark, dreary day. Rained off & on during the day & at times quite hard. Not cold. Mon had too work again today, what time he could. Ed Noekels sold out too Ed Houdek & he took possession today so he wanted Mon too help him get things arranged differently. Mon & I went too Decorah about 1. Claude, Dell & Howard W. went with us. We went too Dave Cassels funeral at the Steine F. H. The men were pall bearers. Elsie S., Myrtle M. & I took care of the flowers. Myrtle bro't us too B.O. too the services at the M.E. church when the funeral was held at 2:15. The Rev. Arnolds were in charge. Ruth P. & Shirley E. sang. Very large crowd out. I went up too the house after the funeral too help awhile. Had lunch. Quite a few up there. Babe W. came & got Mama & Isa & took them too the funeral & bro't them home. Mon helped Ed after the funeral & in eve.

Tues. Jan. 3
Not very nice day. Blustery. Got colder about noon & started too freeze. Was blustery all day & nite. Floyd's came after Isa about 12 too go home. Olive was here awhile in A.M. The Rev. Arnolds were here awhile in eve. Mon didn't go down town in eve. We got a nice little letter from Uncle Chas. & Aunt Etta today. Clate Reed was buried at B.O. today but I didn't go.

Wed. Jan. 4
Quite a nice day but plenty cold. About 15º below this morn. Mon & I went too Arthur's & Dean's awhile in P.M.

Thurs. Jan. 5
About 10º below this morn but it warmed up a lot & was a dandy nice day. I washed. Uncle Geo. was here in P.M. Went down town in eve.

Fri. Jan. 6
Quite a nice day & warmer. I ironed in A.M. Mon worked for Ed H. all day. Uncle Geo. was taken very sick with a heart attack this A.M. & they took him too the Decorah Hospital. Dean butchered a beef today.

Sat. Jan. 7
Nice day. Mon went down too Dean's in A.M. & bro't a quarter of beef up too Gene's too keep awhile for us. We went too Decorah in P.M. Lizzie went with us. I got my hair fixed. Mon & I went down too see Uncle Geo. awhile. He is pretty good. Went down town in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Sun. Jan. 8
Nice day & warmer but the wind blew quite hard from the south & of course it was chilly. We were at Claude's for dinner (Mon took Mama too church). Arthur's & Dean's were there too. Had turkey & all the "fixins". Good dinner & a good time. Linda & Danny sure had fun.

Mon. Jan. 9
Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon was down town most of the day but not at night. He has quite a cold on his lungs.

Tues. Jan. 10
Nice day but windy & colder. Mon went down too Dean's & Arthur's in A.M. & helped them sort out hogs. They both sold today. We sold 25 head too Harmony. Chas. W. hauled ours. Mon was down town most of the P.M. He feels a lot better. We went down town in eve. Our 25 shoats weighed 4940 lbs. @ $15.00 per cwt. & brot $1747.00

Wed. Jan. 11
Dandy nice day but a little cool. Mon, Marvin & Claude left here about 9:30 A.M. for Marie's. Arthur & Ruth went too La Crosse today & left the boys here. Mama, the boys & I went too W.S.C.S. business meeting at Zoa's in P.M. with Florence. Quite a few out. We were just coming home when Arthur's came after the boys. Got a tank of gas.

Thurs. Jan. 12
Not very nice day but not cold. Foggy & damp all day. Mist or light rain all day. Mon, Claude & Marvin got home about 2:30. They had good driving all the way until about too Breezy Hill & from there on too B.O. it was slippery. Went down town in eve.

Fri. Jan. 13
Quite a day. Damp & rainy most of the day. Rained quite hard in P.M. Wind came up about 6 & it blew hard during the nite & got colder. The paving was very slippery in A.M. but the rain in P.M. broke the ice up. Arthur & Dean were both here in P.M. We went too the Dance in eve. Quite a few out even if it was cold & windy. Had a good time.

Sat. Jan. 14
10º below this morn, but warmed up some during the day. Mon worked at the Hall in P.M. The men were "cleaning house" up stairs. Went down town in eve. Had a letter from Isa. Marvin left early this A.M. for St. Angelo Texas.

Sun. Jan. 15
Quite warm early in A.M. but the wind came up about 10 & blew hard all day & part of the nite. Got much colder about noon. Cold nite. We were alone all day.

Mon. Jan. 16
12º below this morn, but it warmed up & was a nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon helped Ed H. in P.M. Rev Arnold's were here awhile late in P.M. Mon went down town in eve.

Tues. Jan. 17
Not too nice early in A.M. but it turned out quite a nice day. Quite a blizzard at nite though. Wind blew very hard. Mon went down town in eve. Euchre tournament at Gene's B.O. & Kendalville & B.O. won. Mon & I went too Decorah awhile in P.M.

Wed. Jan. 18
Nice day but cold. The Hospital called about 5 A.M. that Uncle Geo had passed away very suddenly about 3 A.M. I called Aunt Eunice about 7, then had too get pall bearers etc. Mon couldn't get the car started at noon so I went too Decorah on the bus. Took Uncle George's clothes down & made arrangements for the funeral. Mon got the car started later & came down town after me. Aunt Eunice, Earl & Isa came about 7. They had a lunch here & then Eunice & Earl went too Metties & Isa stayed here.

Thurs. Jan. 19
Quite a nice day but cold. Isa & I went too W.S.C.S. at the church. Inez W., Genev S., Mrs. Houdeck & Mrs. Gjetly served. Very good dinner & a big crowd. We left right after dinner & came home. We all went too Decorah in P.M. Mama went to the Dr. & got her hair fixed. We stopped at the Funeral Home & saw Uncle Geo. He looks so nice. Rev Arnold's came just as we finished supper & then Aunt Eunice & Earl came later. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. Jan. 20
Nice day but cold. We went too Decorah about 12:30 too Uncle George's funeral at the Olson, Iverson Funeral Home. Quite a few out. The Rev. Arnolds had the service. Ruth sang & Joyce played. "Rock of Ages" & "In the Garden". Quite a few of the relatives came up too Olive's after the funeral for lunch. Aunt Eunice, Earl & Isa left for home about 3:30. Went down town awhile in eve. Took some flowers too Mrs. Koenig.

Sat. Jan. 21
Quite a nice warm day. Went too Decorah in P.M. Olive went with us. Got my hair fixed. Gladys A. & her father rode home with us from town. Went down town in eve.

Sun. Jan. 22
Dandy nice day. Mon took Mama & I too church in A.M. When we got home Padden's were here. Arthur's were at church so they came up for dinner too. Dean's came just after dinner so we had quite a visit. Padden's left about 5:30 & then Mon & I went down too Arthur's too a "waffle supper" for his Birthday. He got a carton of cigarettes & an ash tray. They have a new moving picture machine so we saw pictures of Danny that were taken when he & Ruth were in Hammond. They were sure good. We got home about 9:45.

Mon. Jan. 23
Not very nice day, but not cold. Tried too snow but it didn't amount too much. Lizzie, Aunt Alice & Dean were all here in P.M. Dean had been too Harmony & got the last of his upper teeth out. Mon bro't the meat up from Gene's in P.M. He went down town in eve.

Tues. Jan. 24
Mon's Birthday. Not very nice day. Blustery all day but not cold. Thawed quite a little. Got colder at nite though. Arthur was here awhile in P.M. Mon went too Bluffton in eve too a euchre tournament. B.O. won again.

Wed. Jan. 25
Regular blizzard at times. Snowed quite a little & wind blew quite hard. Got colder in the nite.

Thurs. Jan. 26
25º below this morn but nice & bright. Didn't warm up too much during the day. I washed. Mon went too Decorah in P.M. with Dean & Iona. Linda stayed with Mama & I. Mon went too Lodge in eve. I went down town with him but only stayed a few minutes. 30º below when he came home about 11, but very still.

Fri. Jan. 27
20º below this morn with the wind in the south. Warmed up during the day. Quite a nice bright day but that wind was chilly. Drifted some in P.M. Went too Club at Vivian B's in P.M. with Lillian. Quite a few out. Initiated Charlene H. Had a good lunch. Went too the Dance in eve. The Bluffton young people put on a 1 act play before the dance. It was funny. Large crowd out too the Show & dance too. Too big a crowd too have a good time really. Got much warmer in the nite.

Sat. Jan. 28
Quite a nice day. Thawed quite a little. It was really sloppy in places. We went too Decorah in P.M. Rick & Emma went long. Ole A. rode home with us. Went down town in eve a little while. Wind came up in eve & it got colder in the nite. Bill Erickson passed away about 10:30 tonite. Good thing he could give up all his troubles.

Cold, windy day. We were alone all day & nite.

Mon. Jan. 30
2[0?]º below. Somewhat better day but still cold. Mon worked for Ed H. in P.M. I went down too Kate R's in P.M. Mon went down town awhile in eve.

Tues. Jan. 31
15º below this morn but it was a nice bright day & it did warm up. I washed in A.M. Went too Bill Erickson's funeral at the Lutheran Church at 1:30 this P.M. Very large crowd out. The burial was at Hesper. Mon & I went down too Dean's for a waffle supper. Lloyd & Edna G. & kiddies came in eve. We played canasta. Got home about 12.

Wed. Feb. 1
Dandy nice day, but the wind was cool. I went too Lutheran L.A.S. for dinner. Had a good dinner & a good crowd out.

Thurs. Feb. 2
Dandy nice day. Arthur's bro't Danny up in A.M. & left him & they went too Decorah. They came after him about 4:30. Mon went too Lodge in eve. I went down town with him but didn't stay long. Had a letter from Isa.

Fri. Feb. 3
Dandy nice day. Did a little of everything. Fern, Howard & Shirley, Rick & Emma T. were here for supper & spent the eve. Got too bed about 1.

Sat. Feb. 4
Nice day. Went too Decorah in P.M. Rick went along with us. Got my hair fixed. Went down town a few minutes in eve.

Sun. Feb. 5
Rather a dark day & damp but not cold. Thawed a lot. Mon took Mama & I too church in A.M. Arthur's had Bill baptized today. Mama went down too Aunt Mary's in P.M.

Mon. Feb. 6
Not very nice early in A.M. but turned out too be a good day. Thawed a lot. I went over too Olive's a few minutes in P.M. & then Arthur's came too see me so I came home. They bro't me 6 trays for my birthday. Very pretty. Mon had a meeting in P.M. He was put in as Clerk of B.O. Twp. We went down town a little while in eve.

Tues. Feb. 7
Rather a dark day but not cold. Mon went down home in A.M. & bro't up a load of wood with the tractor & wagon. Dean's were here a little while in P.M. They bro't me a nice bath towel & a set of [----?] covers. Dean had the rest of his teeth pulled this P.M. Mon went down town in eve too a euchre party between B.O. & Bluffton. B.O. won.

Wed. Feb. 8
My Birthday. Snowed almost all day. Dandy nice snow. Quite warm. About 7 inches of snow fell. I went too W.S.C.S. business meeting at Mrs. Gjetly's in P.M. Not too many out.

Thurs. Feb. 9
Dandy nice day. Quite warm & thawed quite a little. I washed & ironed. Went down town a little while in eve & Iona M. came home with me & stayed until Joe came from Lodge. Hilda Erickson had her sale today. Roy & Bert B. sold their garage today too Lloyd Dinger. Had a letter from Isa.

Fri. Feb. 10
Dandy nice warm day. Thawed a lot. We went too Decorah awhile in P.M. Rev. Arnolds were here awhile after we got home. Went too the dance in eve. Very large crowd out. Too big too have such a good time.

Sat. Feb. 11
Dandy nice day. We went down too Dean's a little while in P.M. Mon helped Dean put eave troughs on the barn. I went down town a few minutes in eve.

Sun. Feb. 12
Dark, dreary day. Quite a wind from the east but not too cold. We were alone all day. Hazel Rosendahl & Harold Gullickson were married this P.M. at the Lutheran church here in B.O.

Mon. Feb. 13
Not very nice day but not cold. Regular blizzard most of the day. Quite a lot of snow fell & it sure drifted. Went over too Olives a few minutes in P.M.

Tues. Feb. 14
Not very nice day but not cold. Mon went down too Arthur's after dinner for awhile too help him sort out hogs. He sold some more this P.M. Dean, Iona & Linda were here awhile in P.M. They went too a Show at Mabel in eve, celebrating their 4th Wedding Ann. & left Linda here with us. Had a lunch after they came back. Mon went down town awhile in eve.

Wed. Feb. 15
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Sun shone some. We went down town a few minutes in eve. Mama started up too Ike's in P.M. & fell down. Had a time getting up again.

Thurs. Feb. 16
Quite a nice day but cool although it did thaw some too. I went too W.S.C.S. dinner at the church. Very large crowd out. Biggest amount of money ever taken in. Over $80. Iona M., Anita B., Luella Y & Pearl D. entertained. Had a good dinner. We took Mama too the Dr. in P.M. Dean's were down town too. Iona & I each got a new wash dress. The Odd Fellows had a dance & oyster supper just for members in the upper hall after Lodge. Had a good time. About 40 out. Cool nite. Lizzie C. was here awhile in A.M.

Fri. Feb. 17
Beautiful day. I washed & ironed.

Sat. Feb. 18
Regular blizzard in A.M. Snowed hard for a while & the wind blew very hard. Wind went down some in P.M. & the sun came out & it was nice. Not too cold. We got a load of slat wood from the Breitsprecher boys in A.M. $12. Went down town awhile in eve.

Sun. Feb. 19
Dandy nice day. Dean's were up for dinner. We played cards in P.M. Mama went over too Olive's late in P.M. awhile. Mon & I went over there in eve. Olive's Birthday. Marion & Gloria Ann came too & we played 6 handed pinochle. Had some good games. Stayed until after 11.

Mon. Feb. 20
Quite a nice day. Mon went down too Arthur's in A.M. & helped him sort out some hogs too sell. Roy Broghammer passed away very suddenly this eve.

Tues. Feb. 21
Not so nice in A.M. but quite nice in P.M. although with the wind blowing quite hard from the S.E. it did drift some. Mon went too Decorah about 5 P.M. too get a hair cut. Didn't get home until almost 8. We went down town a few minutes in eve.

Wed. Feb. 22
Quite a nice day. Mon & I went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed. Went down too the Funeral home too see Roy B. Katherine Donlan rode home from Decorah with us. Went down town a little while in eve. Snowed some in eve.

Thurs. Feb. 23
Quite a nice day, but windy & cooler. Went too Roy B's funeral with Lillian & Dean. Left home about 8:30. The funeral was at the Catholic Church at 9:30. Mon went with Merle S. They & Leonard W. Christy F., Ted E. & Lloyd Diner were pall bearers. Large crowd at the church, but not too many came too the cemetry. Went back too Joyce's for dinner. Quite a few there & we had a nice dinner. Helped some. Rode home from there with Dorothea R. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went down town a few minutes. Got much colder at nite.

Fri. Feb. 24
22º below this morn. Cold day but bright. Did warm up some during the day, but cold again at nite. Mama had a dizzy spell when she was washing for breakfast & fell. Said it didn't hurt her any but she didn't get around very good the rest of the day. Dr. came up in eve. Said she either had a light stroke or she might have one soon. Club at Laura Berge's this P.M. but couldn't go. Dance tonite & didn't get too that either. Mon went down too Dean's in A.M. & helped sort out hogs. Sold them at Decorah. He worked for Ed Houdeck in P.M. Olive was over awhile in eve. Sold 59 head of hogs weighing 13260 lbs. @ 16.75 & bro't $2221.05. Our share $1480.05.

Sat. Feb. 25
20º below. Quite a nice day though but pretty cold. Did warm up some. Aunt Alice was over awhile in A.M. Went down town a little while in eve.

9º below this morn. Nice bright day. Warmed up some. Lena & Clifford were over & spent the P.M. Dean's were here a minute late in P.M.

Mon. Feb. 27
Just zero this morn. Dandy nice day. Thawed quite a little. I washed & ironed. Mon & Dean went over too Lloyd Gjere's in A.M. & bought a stock hog. Babe & Bess W., Lizzie C. & Aunt Alice were here in P.M. The Rev. Arnold's were here just after supper & then Olive came & then Arthur's were up & spent the eve. Bill surely has grown. Linda's 3rd Birthday.

Tues. Feb. 28
Quite a nice bright day but very windy. Very icy in A.M. early but it did thaw some later in A.M. so wasn't so bad. Arthur, Danny & Mon went over too Lloyd G's & got the stock hog in A.M. Mon went too Decorah a little while in P.M. Dean was here a few minutes in P.M.

Wed. Mar. 1
Cold, blustery, windy day. Sun did shine some & it did snow very hard at times. Got very cold at nite & the wind blew hard all nite. Dean's came up too the Lutheran L.A.S. dinner & bro't Linda up here & left her while they went. Iona came up & stayed awhile in P.M. Had a letter from Isa.

18º below this morn. Cold & very windy again today but the sun did shine. Mon went too Lodge in eve.

Rather cloudy at times & a little warmer. Didn't do too much.

Dandy nice day. Warmed up a lot & thawed a lot too. Mon & I went too Decorah for a little while in P.M. Went down town awhile in eve. Got cooler at nite.

Dandy nice day. Didn't do much of anything alone all day & nite.

Mon. Mar. 6
Dandy nice day. Thawed a lot. Creek up all over the flat. I washed & ironed. Mon worked for Ed H. in P.M. & eve as Ed was sick. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. Mar. 7
Rainy warm day. Rained very hard at times. Sun came out awhile late in P.M. but clouded up again in eve. Got much colder in the nite & the wind came up & blew like a gale. Dean's went too La Crosse & left Linda here. Clyde & Edna went with them. The girls were here a few minutes in P.M. on their way home. Mon worked for Ed H. all day but didn't go down town in eve. Creek up again today. Little son born too Johnnie & Jeanne Whalen today.

Wed. Mar. 8
Terribly windy day & cold. Sun shone part of the time & at times the snow blew & it was a regular blizzard. Wind went down quite a bit in the nite. I went too W.S.C.S. business meeting at Aunt Alice's in P.M. Not too many out. Mon didn't go down town in eve.

Thurs. Mar. 9
Quite a nice day rather cool but it thawed some too. Went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed & then went too see Dr. Fritchen. Have a terrible back ache. He gave me a shot & an electric treatment. Didn't get out of there until about 5 so we were rather late getting home. Mon went too Lodge in eve. I went down town.

Fri. Mar. 10
Rather a dark dreary day. Spit snow off & on all day. Started too snow about 6 P.M. & it sure did snow. Wind blew some in eve & nite too so the snow drifted. We went too the Dance in eve. Quite a few out for such a nite. Had a good time. Different music. Frank O'Brien, Mrs. Ruffridge & Mr. [Rude?].

Sat. Mar. 11
Quite a nice day. We went too Decorah in P.M. & I went up too Dr. F's & had another treatment. Feel better.

Sun. Mar. 12
Nice day. We were alone all day & eve.

Mon. Mar. 13
Nice day. I washed in A.M. We went down too Dean's a little while in P.M. Went down town in eve. Went up too Alberta's awhile. She, Josie & Genev are living in her house now.

Tues. Mar. 14
Dandy nice day. Thawed quite a little. I ironed in A.M. Mon went over too Uncle Aaron's awhile in P.M. He didn't go down town in eve.

Wed. Mar. 15
Quite a nice day. We went down too Arthur's awhile in eve. Snowed in the nite.

Thurs. Mar. 16
Snowed awhile in A.M. but quit about 10:30. Nice & warm. Quite a bit of snow fell & it thawed quite a little in P.M. I went too W.S.C.S. Went about 11 & helped the girls (Ada R. stayed with Mama.) Ruth P. Lucy [Snell?] Charlene H. & Violet U. entertained. Large crowd out & a good dinner. Took in over $61. Rev. Arnold's were here awhile in P.M. Dr. came up about 7:30 too see Mama. Mon went too Lodge & I went down town.

Fri. Mar. 17
Quite a nice day. We went too Decorah awhile in P.M. Went too Mabel in eve too the Show El Paso. It was pretty good. Cool nite.

Sat. Mar. 18
Nice day. Arthur's came about 10:15 & left Danny here & then they & Mon took our car & went too Cresco too the R.E.A. meeting. Left Bill at Krumms. Dean bro't Linda up about 12:30 & left her & they went too Cresco too. They all got back about 5. Danny, Linda & I went over too Olive's awhile in P.M. Went down town awhile in eve. My birthday gift from Mon came today. A grill & waffle iron. Its sure swell.

Sun. Mar. 19
Nice day, only a little cloudy at times. Grandma Wicks went home this A.M. Arthur's & Deans were here for dinner. Ruth's Birthday. Bernice Halse & Viola [Arness?] were here awhile in P.M.

Mon. Mar. 20
One gas tank went dry this morn. Quite a warm day. Sun shone some but not too nice a day. Did a little of everything. Got a load of coal this P.M. Olive was here a few minutes late in P.M. Had our first waffles for supper on the new iron. Went down town awhile in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. Mar. 21
Not too nice a day. Snowed some & thawed too. Not cold. Mon went too Harmony in P.M. with Arthur & they bought a hay baler ($1000.00) Went down town awhile in eve. Had our first toasted sandwiches tonite for supper.

Wed. Mar. 22
Not too nice in A.M. & P.M. rather dark & dreary & a little cooler. Cleared off late in P.M. Olive & I went up too see Mrs. Koenig in P.M. & then we went down town with the men in eve & we went too call on "Bert", Genev & Josie. Aunt Mary came up in A.M. & stayed for dinner. She went home about 1:30. Got a tank of gas late in P.M. Cool nite.

Thurs. Mar. 23
Dandy nice day until late in P.M. it clouded up & was dark. Quite warm. Thawed a lot. I washed & ironed. Uncle Aaron came over before we had breakfast & wanted Mon too take him too Decorah so they went as soon as we had breakfast. Mon didn't get home until about 5:30. Went down town in eve & Mon went too Lodge. Mrs. Vin Rollins died.

Fri. Mar. 24
Regular March day. Snowed, rained, sun shone some & cloudy at times. Not cold. Thawed quite a bit. Mon went over too Uncle Aaron's about 10 with Arthur & loaded up his stuff. Arthur took him back too the Tillapaugh house where he plans too live from now on. Dean's bro't Linda up about 11:30 & left her. Iona isn't feeling good so she went too the Dr. in Decorah. They got back here just as we finished dinner & they had a lunch & then went on home. We went too Decorah in P.M. Mon got a hair cut & I got my hair fixed. Got my glasses fixed at Headington's. Went too the dance at the Hall in eve. Quite a crowd out & a good time. S. boys played.

Sat. Mar. 25
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Rained hard in the nite with hail & thunder & lightning. Quite a wind too. Had a letter from Isa.

Sun. Mar. 26
Rained all day & some times pretty hard with plenty of thunder & lightning. Quite windy. Creek was very high when I got up this morning & had been higher before I got up.

Mon. Mar. 27
Rather nice in A.M. but clouded up & was damp & dark in P.M. Didn't do much of anything. Mon went down town in eve. Snowed in the nite. Cooler nite.

Tues. Mar. 28
Snowed some in A.M. but quit early. Much cooler today & cloudy. Cleared off at nite & a cold nite. Windy. Mon worked at the tavern all day & eve. Ed's went too Waterloo. Olive was over in P.M. I went up too Aunt Alice's in eve too Bible Study.

Wed. Mar. 29
Dandy nice day but cool. I washed in A.M. We went too Decorah awhile in P.M. Went up too see Frank Miller about selling Uncle Geo's place. Went down town a little while in eve. Cool nite. Froze hard.

Thurs. Mar. 30
Arthur's Birthday. Nice day. I ironed in A.M. Dean bro't their ironing up in P.M. & I did that. He bro't Linda along & left her while he went too Decorah. Olive was here awhile in P.M. also the Rev. Arnold's. Went down town awhile in eve. Mon went too Lodge.

Rather a chilly day. Sun shone some but was mostly cloudy. Genevra Smith had a sale & sold her household goods this P.M. Leo Harold was the auctioneer. The W.S.C.S. served lunch. We did pretty well. Didn't go down town in eve.

Quite a nice day but rather a chilly wind. Mon & I went down too Arthurs awhile in P.M. Mr. & Mrs. Ed Houdeck were up & spent the eve.

Mon. Apr. 3
Not very nice day. Chilly & dark. I sure don't feel very good. Guess I've got the flu. The new baler came this P.M. so Mon went down too Arthur's awhile & helped bale some straw. Mon went down town in eve. Uncle Omri was buried this P.M.

Tues. Apr. 4
Chilly day & it tried too rain & snow at times. Quite a wind. Sun shone some. Mon was at Arthur's awhile in P.M. baling straw. Olive was here awhile in P.M. Aunt Eunice, Vin, Eunice & the boys were here awhile in A.M. They were on their way home from Uncle Omri's funeral. Albert Erickson & Sander Torgeson were here a few minutes late in P.M. Mon didn't go down town in eve. Feel about the same today. Had a letter from Isa.

Quite a nice day. Some warmer. We went too Decorah awhile in P.M. Fred [Scholey?] rode home with us (I was up at Frank Millers office) May Ward & a Mrs. Litchford & Aunt Alice were here when we got home. Mon went down town in eve. I feel some better today.

Thurs. Apr. 6
Quite a nice day but a chilly wind. I washed in A.M. Dean's were here for dinner & then Dean & Mon cut down the big willow tree. Mon went too Lodge in eve & I went down town. Feel better.

Fri. Apr. 7
Quite a nice day. I ironed in A.M. Ruth called about 6 A.M. that Arthur was sick so Mon went right down. He was there most of the day & did up the chores at night. He got home about 7. Arthur has the "flu" too.

Sat. Apr. 8
Quite a nice day but chilly. Mon went too Arthur's again early this A.M. He came home at noon & we went too Decorah. I got my hair fixed. Valeda W. & Elanor Dinger rode home from Decorah with us. Got home about 4 & Mon went right down too Arthur's & was there until about 7:30. Arthur is better today but Danny didn't feel very well tonite. Marion & Gloria Ann were here awhile in eve. We didn't go down town. Started too rain & sleet in the nite.

Easter Sunday & a terrible day. Every thing covered with ice. It rained off & on during the day & nite & sometimes quite hard. Power was off here a couple of hours late in P.M. Telephone lines & power lines down all over the state. Worst storm in years.

Mon. Apr. 10
Not too nice in A.M. but cleared off about 2 P.M. & was quite nice then the rest of the P.M. but clouded up again in eve & rained & snowed some in the nite. Warmer this A.M. so the ice melted away. We went down too Arthur's right after dinner. Danny was quite sick all day yesterday but much better today. Bill was sick all nite but better today as was Arthur. Krumm's were there awhile too. We went over too Dean's a minute when we came home. Went down town in eve. Wind blew very hard in the nite. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. Apr. 11
Nice bright day but a hard wind all day & it was chilly. Arthur was here a few minutes in P.M. Mon went down there & helped him ring hogs in P.M. I had a Stanley party in P.M. Mrs. Litchford put it on. Only 9 here. Had some fun any way. Froze hard tonite.

Wed. Apr. 12
Cold windy day. Mon stayed at Ed's tavern today so they went too La Crosse for the day. I went up too Miriam's in P.M. with Albert's too W.S.C.S. business meeting. Not many out. Cold nite.

Thurs. Apr. 13
About 18º this morn. It did warm up some today & the sun shone but the wind blew hard & it was chilly. I washed in A.M. Dean & Linda were here a few minutes in A.M. We went too Decorah in P.M. Mon got a hair cut. Dean's were down town too. Iona went too the Dr. & Linda & I ran around town quite a little. Went down town in eve. Cold nite. Coldest weather in history for the country these days.

Fri. Apr. 14
About 18º again this morn. Quite a nice day warmed up. Dean came up early in A.M. & he & Mon went down too Ben Wick's & cut down some trees. We went too the dance in eve. Quite a large crowd out.

Sat. Apr. 15
Nice day. Dean came up early in A.M. & he & Mon worked at the trees at Ben's. Dean went down at noon & got Iona & Linda & bro't them up here for dinner. Linda didn't feel very good. The men hauled a load of wood up here after dinner & then Dean's went up too Si's a few minutes. Dean took Iona & Linda home & then he came back up & they finished hauling the wood up from Ben's & hauled the wood from the willow tree. Isa came up on the night bus. I was just ready too go too Arthur's, so I went on down there & she visited with Mama. Arthur & Ruth went too Decorah too a dinner & program for the directors, secretarys, treasurers, teachers etc. & I stayed with the boys. They got home a little after 10 & Arthur bro't me home.

Sun. Apr. 16
Not too bad a day although it did sprinkle a little in P.M. but not cold. Claude & Olive's 37th Wedding Ann. so I had them over for dinner. Leonard came as we were about through eating so he had dinner too.

Mon. Apr. 17
Beautiful day nice & warm. We washed in A.M. Took Mama too Decorah in P.M. too the Dr. Isa & I ran around a little. Albert Emery's saw rig was in town when we got home from Decorah so Mon went right down & got him too come up & saw our little pile. Dean was in town so he came up & helped (Linda was with him) Lester B. & Floyd B. helped too. We gave them a lunch. Mon went down a few minutes after supper. Arthur's were up in eve. They bro't Mama a tulip plant & it sure is a beauty.

Tues. Apr. 18
Had quite a shower in A.M. but it was quite nice after that but it did get cooler in P.M. Olive was over in P.M. awhile.

Wed. Apr. 19
Mama's 79th Birthday. Cold, windy & rather a damp day. Snowed quite hard for a few minutes in A.M. Mama, Isa & I went over too Olive's for dinner. Mon had such a cold he didn't go. Claude was in Des Moines for the day. Had a good dinner.

Thurs. Apr. 20
Quite a nice day, but still the wind was cool. Isa & I went too W.S.C.S. for dinner. Large crowd out. Florence, Elsie, Zoa & Audry G. served. Had a good dinner. Stopped too see Mrs. Koenig a little while on our down home. Isa went up too Lizzie's a while after we got home. We went down town after supper awhile. Went up too Alberta's a little while. I came on home & Isa stayed down town & came home with Olive. Arthur's bro't the boys up & left them & they went over too Lillian's too a farewell party for "Bud & Pat". They are going too N. Dak. Arthur's came after the boys about 10:30. Cold nite.

Beautiful day. Warmed up a lot. Mon went down too Arthur's in A.M. & helped clean grain. Isa went home on the noon bus. Mon & I worked at the yard all P.M. Raking & burning. Went too a Home Talent play in the Hall in eve put on by the Bluffton people for the benefit of their ball Club. They had a very large crowd & the show was good. Katie M. & Olive were here in A.M.

Sat. Apr. 22
Nice day. Mon went down too Arthur's awhile in A.M. We went down too Dean's a few minutes in P.M. Went down town in eve awhile.

Sun. Apr. 23
Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & sprinkled some early. Sure did rain with plenty of thunder & lightning for a couple of hours. Got cooler with quite a wind in eve. Dean's were up for dinner. They took us for a ride in P.M. Went over east over roads I had never been over. Stopped at Stanley's a few minutes. Got back home about 4 just before the big rain. They went right on home.

Mon. Apr. 24
Dean's Birthday. Terrible day. Rained all day & sometimes very hard. A lot of rain fell. Didn't do much of anything. Dean sold 3 hogs today. Arthur hauled them 3 weighed 700 lbs. @ $16.60. We got $77.40.

Cold windy stormy day. Rained & snowed. Dean was here a little while in P.M.

Not very nice day. Cloudy & stormy at times. Cold. We went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed. Ed Arnold was here awhile in eve.

Not too good a day & not too bad. Washed & ironed. Went down too Dean's a few minutes in P.M. Went down town in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Quite a nice day. Some warmer & the sun shone most of the day. Went too Club at Florence's in P.M. Went part way with Mon & the rest of the way with Ruth & the boys. Large crowd out. Had a swell lunch. Rode home with Miriam. Went down too Arthur's a while early in eve too see some new "movies". Went too the dance at the hall. Quite a crowd out & a good time.

Not too nice a day. Rather dark, damp & chilly. Aunt Eunice, Earl & Larry were here most of the P.M. & for supper. We went over too Uncle George's house in P.M. & Aunt Eunice got some things she wanted. Rained hard in eve & we didn't go down town.

Not too nice a day. Cool & dark most of the day. The sun did shine a little. Mon went down home a little while early in A.M. Olive & Claude were over for "waffle supper" & then we played pinochle in eve.

Nice & bright most of the day & some warmer but still cool. I washed & ironed. Mon & I went down too Uncle Aaron's a little while after dinner & then Mon went down home awhile afterward. Went down town with Mon in eve. Went up too Alberta's a while. Cool nite.

Tues. May 2
Not too bad a day & not too good. Sun shone part of the day but the wind was chilly. Ruth bro't the boys up about 11 & left them & she went down too help her mother. She came after them about 4:30. They were just fine. Mon was down at the farm in A.M. & he helped at Ludvig Q's in P.M. Drove the tractor while Howard spread fertilizer. Babe & Bess W. were here in P.M. Mon went down town in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Wed. May 3
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Got quite a lot warmer in P.M. I went too Lutheran L.A.S. for dinner. Had a good dinner & a big crowd. Mon went down too Arthur's & worked in P.M. He didn't get home until about 8. Dean & Linda came just after he did & were here a little while & then we rode down town with them. Didn't stay only a few minutes.

Thurs. May 4
Quite a nice day & much warmer. Quite windy. Mon worked at Arthur's & Deans today. He didn't get home until after 8 again. He didn't go too Lodge. I raked in P.M. Quite a storm in the nite. Plenty of thunder & lightning & rain.

Fri. May 5
Quite nice early in A.M. Warm. Had quite a rain a couple of times in A.M. About noon the wind came up & it sure did blow all P.M. & nite. Mon & I worked outside transplanting shrubs all A.M. that we could & then in P.M. until the wind blew so hard we couldn't do any thing. The electricity was off most of the time from about 11:30 A.M. until about 12 in the nite. Got much colder later in P.M. Ruby & Barbara R. were here a few minutes in P.M.

Sat. May 6
Quite a nice bright day some warmer but the wind blew all day but not quite as hard as yesterday P.M. & nite. Mon went down home in A.M. awhile. We went too Decorah about 11:30 & got back home about 2:30. Mon went down home then & dragged until nite. Linda came home with him. We went down town. Linda had a good time. Dean & Iona went too Decorah & then they came back up here for her about 10:30.

Sun. May 7
Quite a nice bright day but cold. Mon went down home & worked in A.M. We went too the Ball game in P.M. First of the season. B.O. & Nordness at B.O. N. won 14-3. The ball diamond is down home along the east side of the road. Olive & Marion went with us & Claude rode back with us too. Not too good a game.

Mon. May 8
Not too nice in A.M. Rather dark & dreary & then in P.M. it rained again. Most of P.M. & nite. Rained quite hard at times with quite a lot of thunder & lightning in eve. Mon went too Dean's early in A.M. & finished sowing that one piece of grain. He came home about 2:30. Olive was here awhile in A.M. & then again in P.M. Lizzie C. was here awhile in P.M. too. I went up too Alice Wilbur's about 6:30 with Gladys too plan our W.S.C.S. dinner. Got back about 7:30. Olive & I went too a program at the Hall in eve. Put on by some of the south Bluffton Catholic young people. Mrs. [Joe?] Kelly was the leader. 2 one act plays & a lot of singing. It was sure good. Babe W. bro't us home as it was raining hard when the program was over. Got home about 8:45.

Tues. May 9
Not very nice in A.M. but cleared off & was quite a nice day but cool. Mon went too Decorah early in A.M. Took the car down too have it fixed. I went too Calmar in P.M. with Rev. Arnolds too the L.A.S. lunch & bazaar. They had such nice things & such a lovely lunch. Zoa & Inez went along too. We got home about 6. Went down town in eve.

Wed. May 10
Dandy nice day. Rather windy & cool. I washed in A.M. Mon went too Decorah in A.M. & got the car. I went too W.S.C.S. business meeting at Mrs. Arnold's in P.M.

Thurs. May 11
Nice day. Warmer. Mon & I worked at the yard all day. [Eber?] & Grace Frye were here awhile in P.M. Mama walked down too Aunt Mary's in P.M. Went down town in eve.

Fri. May 12
Very nice until late in P.M. It clouded up & we had quite a shower & then it cleared off & was nice again. Warmer. Mon & I went too Decorah about 8. I got my hair fixed & Mon got his hair cut. Got the car washed. Got home about 11:30. Mon worked for Ed H. in P.M. Ed's went too Decorah. Went too the dance in eve. Not too many out.

Sat. May 13
Dandy nice day. Mon helped Arthur in A.M. & went fishing in P.M. The Joan of Arc entertained the Mothers of the community at the M.E. church in P.M. Had a nice program & lunch & crowd. 30 mothers were out. Mama didn't feel like going. Dean's bro't Linda up early in eve & left her all nite. They went too a dance at Matters. We went down town awhile in eve. Olive & Claude were over at supper time awhile.

Sun. May 14
Nice day only rather windy. Warm. Dean came up early in A.M. & got Linda & bro't me a beautiful corsage of roses for Mother's Day. I went too church in A.M. We went too the Ball game in P.M. Played at B.O. again. Spring Grove & B.O. 14-4 in favor of B.O. Arthurs were up in eve awhile. I got a pickle fork from them, too match our set. Olive & Marion were over awhile at supper time. Claude's looked for a telephone call from Marvin.

Nice day. I washed in A.M. Mon got Arthur's truck & hauled some wood etc. from Uncle George's for Uncle Aaron. We took Mama too the Dr. about 2:30. Olive went along too. Went down town in eve a little while.

Tues. May 16
I ironed in A.M. It was nice in A.M. but clouded up & rained in P.M. Mon & I went too Decorah about 3:30 for a little while. Got some shrubbery. Dean was here a few minutes in P.M.

Wed. May 17
Dandy nice day. We set out our shrubbery on the north & west side of the house. Finished about 2:30 & then Mon went down home & was there for supper. I did some cooking, getting ready for W.S.C.S. tomorrow. Olive & I went up too Aunt Alice's in P.M. late & got some lily of the valley plants & set them out. Set out some glad's too. Mama went up too Ada's in P.M. Mrs. Emmons & Edie Reed were here awhile in P.M. Went down town awhile in eve.

Thurs. May 18
Dandy nice day. Mon worked at Arthur's in A.M. helping with planting corn & at Dean's in P.M. with the same. He disced & dragged. He & Danny came up about 10 A.M. & took me & "my food" up too the church. Gladys A., Alice W., Lucile O. & I entertained W.S.C.S. Had a bigger crowd than we expected, for such a busy time. Took in over $50. Had a good dinner. So many delicious pies. Alice bro't me home. Went down town in eve.

Fri. May 19
Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & we had quite a shower about 2:30. Rained off & on all P.M. Mon was at Dean's. I worked out doors all day until it rained.

Sat. May 20
Nice in A.M. but rained off & on in P.M. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. They finished planting the one field of corn. I went too Decorah in P.M. with Claude's. Big circus in Decorah today. P.M. & eve. Ruth & Iona took Danny & Linda. We went down town in eve.

Sun. May 21
Quite a nice day but the sun didn't shine much. Did try too rain a little in P.M. Went too the ball game in P.M. Claude's went with us. Played here. B.O. & Waukon. B.O. won 3-2. Good game. We went down too Arthur's a few minutes in eve. They were going too a Shower for Mr. & Mrs. Jimmie Ward at "Fishes" so we didn't stay long.

Mon. May 22
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Mon worked at Arthur's & Dean's again. I washed & ironed & worked some with the flowers. Mon bro't the tractor up about 5:30 & plowed our garden before supper. He plowed for Ralph, Walt R. & [Henry?] G. after supper. Dean's were up a little while in eve.

Tues. May 23
Looked mighty rainy early in A.M. & sprinkled some. Was cloudy off & on all day & quite warm. Wind blew hard in P.M. Mon worked at Dean's. I planted garden. Aunt Alice was here awhile in P.M. Went too a meeting of the W.S.C.S. officers at Rev. Arnold's in eve.

Wed. May 24
Very nice day until late in P.M. it clouded up & really did look like a bad storm, but no storm out of it, just a nice rain. Lots of thunder & lightning. Very warm most of the day but got cooler at nite. Mon worked at Dean's. They finished planting corn today.

Thurs. May 25
Rather a dark, damp day. Cooler. Cleared off in eve. We went too Decorah in P.M. I got my hair fixed. Dean's were down & got the baby chicks. I got some cabbage, tomato & pepper plants. We set them out when we got home. Went down too Dean's early in eve too see the baby chicks. They are sure nice. Got back too town & Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. May 26
Quite a nice day. Mon helped at Arthur's. Went too Club at Maxine's with Miriam in P.M. Olive went too. Quite a few out & we had a nice lunch. Went too the dance in eve. Not too many out but we had a good time.

Sat. May 27
Nice day. Mon worked at Arthur's. They finished planting there today. Mon & Danny came up about 2 & Arthur came about 4:30 & got Danny. Earl, Wilma, Larry, Aunt Eunice, little Vin & Isa came about 4. They took Mama & went down too Dell's in eve. Earl, Wilma & Larry stayed here all night, Isa at Olives & Aunt Eunice & Vin at Lizzie's.

Sun. May 28
Quite a nice day. The folks were all here awhile in A.M. & then we went over too Uncle George's house & got some more things. They left here about 11. Starting back home but were going too Dell's & Raymonds. Mon helped Arthur awhile early in A.M. Didn't go too the ball game at Dorchester today. D. won.

Dandy nice warm day. I washed in A.M. Mon went down home in A.M. awhile. We went too Decorah awhile in P.M. Went down too Deans' awhile on our way home. Went down town in eve.

Tues. May 30
Very warm at times when the sun shone but the breeze was chilly. Sprinkled a little in A.M. Mon took Olive & I up too the cemetry in P.M. & then he went on down home. We stopped at Mrs. Koenigs awhile on our way home.

Wed. May 31
Quite a nice day but windy & chilly. Dean came up early in A.M. & he & Mon cleaned up the rest of the trees & junk at Ben Wick's. Dean was here for dinner. They finished up about 2:30 & Dean hauled the junk down home too the sink hole. I went down with Mon. He helped Dean awhile. We came home about 5. Mon went down town in eve. Little son born too Marlene & [Pat?] Ward early this A.M.

Thurs. June 1
Rather cloudy at times during the day but the sun shone quite a lot too. Very windy. Mon was at Dean's getting things around ready too build a new milk house. Dell & Mettie were here a few minutes late in P.M. Went down town in eve. Rained some in the nite.

Rained quite hard for awhile in A.M. but quit about noon. We went too Decorah for awhile in A.M. & Mon went too Dean's in P.M. Linda came home with him & stayed all nite. Dean's went too a Shower Dance at Matters for Mr. & Mrs. Harold Richert. Ethel Halse was here awhile in eve.

Quite a nice day. Mon was at Dean's all day. I went too Decorah with Claude's in P.M. Went down town in eve. Gas tank went dry this noon.

Dandy nice day but windy. Primary Election today so as Mon is clerk he was at the Hall from 7 A.M. & didn't get home until about 4 A.M. Walter Gossman was here for dinner & supper with Mon. I washed & ironed. Olive & I went down & voted late in P.M. Had a letter from Isa.

Tues. June 6
Dandy nice warm day only very windy. I worked in the garden some in A.M. & P.M. & mowed lawn. Dean's were here a few minutes in A.M. We were at Arthur's & Dean's, both, a few minutes after dinner. Mon slept most of P.M. He went down town a few minutes in eve. Olive was here a little while in eve.

Wed. June 7
Nice day but very windy. Mon was at Dean's all day. I went too Lutheran L.A.S. for dinner. Had a swell dinner & a very large crowd. Irene F., Myrtle N., Bessie J. & Alice Kimber served. Went for a short ride with Florence & Shirley after dinner. Went down town a little while in eve.

Thurs. June 8
Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & sprinkled some. Mon worked at Dean's until about 3 P.M. They put in the foundation for the milk house. Addie Emery & Fred Walter's folks were here awhile in P.M. Mrs. Piper & the Rev. Arnold's too. Went down town awhile in eve. Had a hard rain in the nite with plenty of thunder & lightning. Dale Arnold & [Coleen?] Burgess were married this A.M.

Fri. June 9
Nice day. Quite warm. Arthur's bro't Bill up about 9 (Danny is at Bible School for 2 weeks now) & left him while they went too Decorah. They & Danny got back here about 11:30 & were here for dinner. We went too Decorah in P.M. Got my hair fixed. Went too the dance in eve. Quite a good crowd out & a good time.

Dandy nice day. Mon was at Dean's. Went down town in eve.

Sun. June 11
Nice day & plenty windy. Went too the Ball game at B.O. in P.M. B.O. won against Highlandville 9-2. Cora Brickner was here a few minutes in P.M. Went too Harmony in eve too a Show. "Francis the Talking Mule". It was good & funny.

Mon. June 12
Not too nice early in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day. Plenty windy in P.M. I worked in the garden all A.M. Got it all cleaned out. Worked some in the yard in P.M. Mon was at Dean's. Went down too Inez Whitney's a little while after supper & then stopped in town awhile on our way home. Clouded up in eve & rained hard in the nite. Creek was up.

Tues. June 13
Not too nice early in A.M. but was quite nice most of P.M. Rather cloudy at times. Very warm & muggy. We took Mama too the Dr. in P.M. He said she had a bunch on her breast that must come off. Mon took care of the tavern for Ed in eve so they could go too a Shower Dance. Olive was over awhile in eve.

Wed. June 14
Not too nice in A.M. part of the time. Sprinkled different times but wasn't so bad in P.M. although it was cloudy at times. I washed in A.M. Went too Inez W's in P.M. with Miriam too W.S.C.S. business meeting.

Thurs. June 15
Ironed in A.M. Quite a nice day. Mon worked down home in A.M. He came home about 1:30 & took Olive & I too Decorah too see about fixing up the papers too get Mama in at Iowa City. We were not down there long but when we got back Mama had had another stroke. She was on the cot though. Called Dr. & he came out & then he called the ambulance. I called Isa. I went too the Hospital in the ambulance with Mama. She rallied some going down & after she got too the Hospital & could talk some. Mon came after me about 7.

Fri. June 16
Quite a nice day but cool. Isa came about 4 A.M. Mon worked down home. Claude took Olive, Isa & I too see Mama in P.M. but she didn't realize any thing. We didn't stay too long.

Sat. June 17
Nice cool day. Mon worked down home. The Hospital called about 10:15 that Mama wasn't very good so Claude took us girls down right away & we stayed. Henry came down after supper & Olive & I came home with him & Isa stayed with Mama. It rained hard in eve with quite a lot of thunder & lightning.

Sun. June 18
Not very nice day. Damp & rainy & cold all day. Rained quite hard at times during the day & at nite. Lester & Harlan came about 5. I dressed & got breakfast & we all went too the Hospital about 7. Isa came home & I stayed with Mama. No change all day. Rev. & Mrs. Arnold & Lester were there in P.M. Mon bro't Olive & Isa down 7 & Mama opened her eyes & seemed too realize a little then. Olive stayed & Isa & I came home.

Mon. June 19
Quite a nice cool day but not too good at times. Claude went down after Olive early in A.M. & Isa went along with him & stayed for the day. Lester & Harlan went home about 8. Mon worked at Dean's. He came home about 5:15. We had supper & he took me & Olive too Decorah & I stayed with Mama all nite. Isa came home.

Tues. June 20
Not too nice early in A.M. but wasn't too bad a day but cool. Claude bro't Olive down early in A.M. too stay with Mama & I came home. We didn't do too much all day. Worked in the garden some. Mon was down home. We took Isa too the Hospital & Olive came home.

Wed. June 21
Not too bad a day but cool most of the day. Rained hard down too Decorah about 4 P.M. Mon worked at Dean's. I stayed with Mama all day. Claude bro't Olive down too stay all nite & I came home with him.

Thurs. June 22
Quite a nice day. Mon was at Dean's for a while in A.M. & then it rained down there so he was home for dinner but he went back down there in P.M. Claude went & got Olive early in A.M. & took Isa down too stay with Mama, but Dr. said there was nothing she could do down there so she came home on the bus. Isa & I went too W.S.C.S. dinner at the church. Dorothea R., Maxine F., Hazel H & Muriel T., entertained. Very good dinner. We stopped too see Mrs. Koenig a few minutes.

Fri. June 23
Not too nice a day. Looked quite rainy at times & did rain some during the day. Had a hard rain late in P.M. & most of the nite. Mon was at Deans. We washed in A.M. Ironed some in P.M. & then they called from the Hospital about 2 P.M. for us too come as Mama was worse so Claude took us down there & then he came home. We stayed with her then until she passed away about 2 A.M. I called Mon then & he came down & got us. Nettie Lodgson was here awhile in P.M.

Sat. June 24
Quite a nice day & warmer. We went too Decorah about 10 A.M. Stopped at Albert E's & Uncle Aaron's on our way down. We girls went too the Olson-Iverson Funeral Home & chose the casket & the boys & Claude & Mon & us went out too the Greenhouse & ordered flowers. Isa & I got our hair fixed. We were just ready too come home from Decorah when Lester got there so Isa rode home with him. Arthur's were up awhile in eve.

Sun. June 25
Dandy nice day. Very warm. We went down too Dean's a few minutes early in A.M. They stopped here on their way home from church and we were just eating dinner so they ate with us. We went over too Claude's a few minutes after dinner. Paul's are here. They came about 4 A.M. Mon went down too Arthur's in P.M. too help Arthur get the hay baler going (but couldn't). Lester went too the ball game at Bluffton with Claude & Paul. Mon came home about 4:30 & then he, Isa & I went down too the Funeral Home too see Mama. She looks so nice. When we got back Lester was here. Rev. Arnold's were here for a while also, Florence & Albert. We & Paul's went down too Arthur's for a little while then. Just having supper & Howard & Pearl came & they stayed until about 10. It cooled off quite a little in the eve & was nice too sleep.

Mon. June 26
Dandy nice day but very windy. Aunt Alice, Katie M., Aunt Eunice, Vin, Eunice & the kids were here awhile in A.M. Marie & the kids were here off & on too. Claude's & Paul's were here for dinner about 11:30 & then we all got ready & went too Decorah too the Funeral Home. We had Mama's funeral from there at 1 & then on too B.O. too the M.E. church. Rev. Arnold's were the ministers. Arthur, Dean, Leonard, Paul, Parnell D. & Jimmie K. were pall bearers. Shirley E. sang & Joyce H. played. Very large crowd out & beautiful flowers. The W.S.C.S. served lunch too the relatives at the church after the funeral. Lester went home right after the lunch & Paul's went soon afterward. Lena D. came home with us from the funeral & stayed until Clifford came for her. He ate supper with us. Quite a few people brought in food for us.

Tues. June 27
Nice day. Cool. Mon worked at Dean's. We washed & ironed. Went over too Olive's for dinner & then she came over in P.M. & we looked through Mama's dresser drawers & over other things. We went down town a minute in eve.

Wed. June 28
Nice day. Although it did look rainy for a while in A.M. Didn't rain. Mon helped the boys hay. Olive came over again in P.M. & we looked over the rest of Mama's things. Mon came home about 4 & had too go too Harmony so we went along.

Thurs. June 29
Nice day but cool. We went too Decorah a little while in A.M. & then Mon went too Dean's in P.M. too hay. Olive came over in P.M. & we wrote "thank you" cards. Ruth & the boys came about 2 & I went too Harmony with them & right back again. They stopped here a few minutes on their way home. We went down town in eve.

Fri. June 30
Nice day but cool. Mon was at Dean's today. Isa went home on the noon bus. Went too Club at Catherine H's with Florence in P.M. Not too many out. Had a nice lunch. Mon bro't Linda home with him when he came & then Dean came after her about 8:30. Evelyn Falck & [J---i-?] Schnitzler were married this eve.

Sat. July 1
Quite a nice day. Mon was at Dean's. They finished haying there. I went too Decorah in P.M. with Claude's. Mon took Lloyd Dinger too Waukon for car repairs about 5 & I went along. We had a good chicken supper down there. Got home about 7:20 & then we went up too the M.E. church too an ice cream social. Mon had his ice cream & then went back down town & I stayed & helped until it was over. Stopped at the store for a little while & then we stopped at Lloyd's when he & Leonard were working on a Missouri Hudson which had burned out a rod. We brought the young lady up home with us & gave her a lunch. Took her back too Lloyds about 12. Cool nite.

Sun. July 2
Nice day. We went down too Arthur's about 9 but no one was at home. Ruth called about 10 & said they wanted too go for a ride so I fixed up a lunch & we went down & got them & went for a ride. Went too Lansing & had our picnic dinner at the park then went on up too New Albin & on too La Crescent. Followed the train for a long ways & Danny got a kick out of that. Got back about 5:30. Had a nice ride.

Mon. July 3
Nice day. I picked berries, dressed chickens & defrosted the refrigerator in A.M. Mon went too Arthur's in P.M. helping hay. Danny was asleep in the car when he came too come home so he brought him along home with him. We took him in eve.

Tues. July 4
Quite a nice day but cool. Was a little cloudy at times but didn't rain. We went down too Arthur's & had a picnic dinner. Dean's were there too. Iona's grandma is visiting them so she was there too. We went down too Dean's in eve. Iona's sisters & their families were there too. Had a nice picnic lunch in eve. Got home about 12:30. Little daughter born too Ellie & Curt Marlow.

Wed. July 5
Nice day. Dean's came up in A.M. & we picked the strawberries for Iona. She only got 5 qts. I got Mon's dinner & then went up too Lutheran L.A.S. Had a good dinner. Pearl W, Dorothy E., Esther G. & Mrs. Lloyd Baker served. Rode home with Olive & Claude & stopped there for a while. Mon worked at Arthur's in P.M. I went down town awhile in eve. Went too Genev's. Mon went too bed.

Thurs. July 6
Nice day. Mon went down too Arthur's in A.M. awhile & then he went down too Dean's in P.M. & plowed corn & they went fishing. I washed & ironed. Went down town in eve.

Fri. July 7
Nice day. Mon & I went too Decorah about 10 A.M. I got a permanent & Mon got his hair cut. We went too Mabel in eve too a Show. "Montana". It was good.

Sat. July 8
Nice day. We went too Arthur's in P.M. too help hay. I took care of Bill & Ruth drove tractor, hauling in hay bales & also drove the tractor on the hay rope. Went down town in eve.

Sun. July 9
Nice day although it was rather cloudy at times. Went too the ball game in P.M. at Nordness. B.O. won 10-6. It was a good game.

Mon. July 10
Nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon was at Arthurs in A.M. but came home about 1:30. Dean's bro't Linda up & left her all nite. They went too John & Evelyn S's shower dance.

Tues. July 11
Nice day. Quite warm. Mon worked at Arthur's. I went up too Gjetly's about 9 & quilted until about 4 P.M. 5 other ladies were there & helped too. Grandma Wicks fell & they thought broke her hip today so they took her too the Hospital.

Wed. July 12
Rather cloudy in A.M. Sprinkled a little but it sure rained hard in P.M. Had 2 or 3 spells of it. I went too W.S.C.S. business meeting at Violet's in P.M. with Florence. Not too many out. Cool day & nite. Cleared off in late P.M. They called Claude & Olive too the Hospital about 1 P.M. & Grandma Wicks passed away about 9 P.M.

Thurs. July 13
Dandy nice day but plenty cool & quite windy. Mon went down too Arthur's a little while in A.M. & then he went down there in P.M. & mowed hay. I went too Locust in P.M. with Dean's too L.A.S. Lelia M. was one of the hostesses. They had a quite a crowd & a very nice lunch. We got back here about 5. Went down town in eve. Mon went too Lodge & I went too the ice cream social at the Lutheran Church. Had a good lunch.

Fri. July 14
Quite a nice day but cool. Mon worked at Arthur's until after dinner. We went too Decorah about 3 & were home by 5 & stopped at Dean's a few minutes on our way home. Mon went down town awhile in eve.

Sat. July 15
Nice in A.M. & some warmer. Clouded up about noon & looked quite rainy & then about 3 it did rain. Just poured & so much thunder & lightning. One clap pretty bad. Burned off one of the telephone lines in front of Claude's. Kept on storming most of the nite I guess. Creek was up very high. Washed out around both of the bridges here in town & did lots of damage around. Mon was at Arthur's until just before the rain. Grandma Wicks funeral this P.M. at 2 at the A.C. church. Rev. Beckman was the minister. I went over too Olives about 12 & Kate R came up & she & I got the lunch for the relatives & helpers. Large crowd there. Stormed so hard people couldn't get away so some of them were there until nearly 5. It did let up for awhile then. I came home a little after 5. Marie & Gary came on the early morning bus.

Sun. July 16
Rather nice early in A.M. & some warmer. Clouded up though about noon & looked quite stormy in P.M. & then about 4:30 it sure did pour down again. We went too Mabel in P.M. too the Show. "Good Humor Man". It was funny. No ball game. Too much mud. Arthur was here a few minutes in eve. It had cleared off & was nice then.

Mon. July 17
Not too nice in A.M. early but cleared off & was quite a nice day. I picked quite a lot of peas. Mon was at Arthur's in A.M. He came home about 3 & bro't Danny & Bill with him. Arthur & Ruth went too Decorah. They came after the boys about 5:30 & stayed for supper. Mon went down town a few minutes in eve. Got a letter from Isa.

Tues. July 18
Quite nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & started too rain about 4. Not hard but just rain & kept it up all nite. I washed in A.M. Dean's came up about 10:30 & we picked peas & beans for them. I went up too Gjetly's in P.M. & quilted quite a few ladies there. Some quilted & some sewed carpet rags. Jennie & [Ritta?] served us ice cream & cookies & Glorianna made coffee. Mon didn't work today. Too wet. He went down town in eve & I went too a "Stanley Party" at Margaret Ward's in eve with Dorothea R. Large crowd out & we had a good time & good lunch. Got home about 11:15.

Wed. July 19
Not very nice day. Rained almost all day & nite & some times quite hard. I went up too Gjetly's in P.M. too quilt. There were 7 of us there & we finished the quilt. It is a beautiful thing.

Thurs. July 20
Nice day. Warmed up some. Dean was here a few minutes at noon. Mon took Olive & I down too Dean's in P.M. & we picked gooseberries. Also picked some raspberries for supper. Iona & Linda were not at home. Went down town in eve. Cool nite.

Fri. July 21
Not too bad a day. Mon was at Arthur's. Rained in the nite & in P.M. I helped Olive pick beans & get them ready too can in P.M.

Sat. July 22
Nice day. We went too Decorah about 10 A.M. Got my hair fixed & then we came home about 2. Went down too Dean's after we got home & Iona & I went up in the woods & picked berries. Got about 3 qts. each. Went down town in eve.

Sun. July 23
Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & we had a hard rain about 3:30. Cleared off later in P.M. & was a nice nite. We went down too Arthur's about 9 & was there awhile. We took the boys then & went over too Uncle Aaron's awhile & then on home. Ruth came after the boys after church but Bill was asleep so she left them. We took them home about 2:30 but didn't stay long as it looked so stormy. Stanley P. came about 9 P.M. but he didn't stay long. He was on his way too Wis. too spend a week with Katherine & Ruth at the Camp.

Mon. July 24
Nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon went too Arthur's in P.M. & mowed. Dean was here a few minutes at noon. Arthur was taking some hogs too Harmony so he hauled a sow for us. He took feed too Decorah for us in P.M. Pierre Feltis & family were here a few minutes at noon. He looks the same as ever. It was good too see him. Mon went down town in eve. The man came too put the numbers 50 on Mama's monument. Mon & I went up late in P.M. too see it.

Tues. July 25
Quite a nice day although it did look rainy for awhile in P.M. & did sprinkle a little but it didn't amount too much. Mon worked at Arthur's today until after noon. Olive & I went over too Uncle George's house early in A.M. [Wes.?] moved out of there today. Mon started painting the floor in the east room up stairs this P.M. Ruth bro't the boys up about 5 & left them. She & Arthur went too Decorah in eve. They came & got Bill on their way home but left Danny all nite. Babe W. came up in eve & we went over too Uncle George's & got some things she wanted.

Wed. July 26
Nice day & warm. Mon worked at Arthur's in A.M. We went too Prosper in P.M. too get some paint but couldn't get it so we went too Decorah & got it. Mon finished painting the floor. Went down town a little while in eve.

Thurs. July 27
Nice warm day. Mon worked at Arthur's. Ruth bro't the boys up in P.M. & she went too Shirley E's. She came after them about 5. Olive bro't her string beans over & I helped her get them ready too can. We went down town in eve.

Fri. July 28
Nice day & plenty warm. Mon was at Arthur's all day. Went too Club at Maude's in P.M. with Lillian S. Quite a few out. Had a "Stork Shower" for Marlyn K. She got such nice gifts. Had a nice lunch.

Sat. July 29
Nice warm day again. Mon worked at Arthur's. They finished his haying & they are also cutting grain. I went too Decorah in P.M. with Claude's for awhile. Went down too Dean's awhile after supper & spent the eve down town.

Sun. July 30
Nice very early in A.M. but clouded up & it sure rained from about 11 o'clock on until about 4 P.M. Creek was up quite a little. We were alone all day. Mon went down too the ball diamond a little while in A.M. Cleared off late in P.M. & was nice on into the nite.

Mon. July 31
Nice in A.M. & very warm. Clouded up about 3 & then it sure did rain. Looked like a very bad storm but we only got a hard rain. Cleared off & was nice late in P.M. & eve & some cooler. We went too Decorah for a little while in P.M. Went down too Dean's a while after supper.

Tues. Aug. 1
Not too nice a day & cold. Looked rainy most of the day & sprinkled off & on. Looked like quite a bad storm about 5 but it only rained a little. Mon went down too Arthur about 6:30 A.M. too help him get some cattle in ready too sell. We took Ole & Gladys A. too La Crosse. Left here about 9:30 & got back about 5. Mon went down town a little while in eve. Cold nite.

Wed. Aug. 2
Quite a nice day & windy. Cool. Mon went too Arthur's too cut grain. They worked there & at Dean's cutting grain. I washed. Went too Lutheran L.A.S. for dinner. Had a good dinner. Went up too Gjetly's in P.M. too a "rag bee". Quite a few ladies out. We went down town a little while in eve. I ironed after supper. Cool nite.

Thurs. Aug. 3
Nice day & some warmer. I went too Deans' early in A.M. with Mon. They finished cutting grain there about 11:30. Cut at Arthur's in P.M. I went up in the woods in P.M. & picked some berries. Mon came back too Dean's for me about 6 & we had supper at Dean's. Went down town in eve. I went up too the Hall a little while & played the organ & Happy the violin for the children who were practicing the square dance for the Fair.

Fri. Aug. 4
Quite a nice day. Some warmer. Did look rainy late in P.M. & eve but cleared off & didn't rain. Mon helped Dean shock for a while in A.M. & then went over too Arthur's & they finished cutting grain there. He came home about 3. He went down too Deans after an early supper & shocked until dark.

Sat. Aug. 5
Nice day. Some warmer. Mon went down too Dean's in A.M. & helped shock. We went too Decorah in P.M. Iona, Linda & Ludvig went with us. I got my hair fixed & Mon got a hair cut. Dean's were here a few minutes in eve & then we all went down town.

Sun. Aug. 6
Nice day. Quite warm. Ruth bro't the boys up when she went too church. She came & got Bill after church but left Danny. He & Mon went too the Ball game at Locust in P.M. & left me at Leo Willson's. They had a "Shower" for Dorothy Farnsworth. Quite a few out & she got a lot of nice gifts & we had a nice lunch. They came after me about 5. B.O. won 4-1. Ruth bro't Bill up about 6 & left him & she & Arthur went too Decorah too supper & a Show. They came after Bill about 11:30 but left Danny.

Mon. Aug. 7
Nice warm day. Mon took Danny home early in A.M. & worked at Arthur's & Dean's until about 3 P.M. I washed & ironed & washed windows. Ruth called about 4:30 that Arthur was quite sick so we went right down. He was in very much pain. Dr. Larsen came up. He thought it might be appendicitis. Gave him a "shot" too quiet the pain. Dean came over after supper & milked the cows. Mon & Ruth took Arthur too the Hospital about 8. They came home about 10 & left him there. Mon & I came on home then.

Tues. Aug. 8
Nice warm day. Clouded up & looked quite stormy about 10. Quite sharp lightning & thunder but not too much rain. Just enough too stop threshing. Cleared off & then clouded up again in P.M. & rained very hard at B.O. but not west of the paving. Mon & I went too Arthur's about 6:30. Dean come over about 7 & milked the cows & helped with the chores. Louie came up & stayed until it rained. Mon went too Lester Bronner's threshing for Arthur. Ruth went too Decorah about 9 & she bro't Arthur home. They got home at 12. He was feeling pretty good only weak. Dr. thought it was indigestion. We came home about 1. I went up too Gjetly's in P.M. & sewed carpet rags. Not too many out. Went down town in eve a little while. Mrs. Nellie Foltz passed away this P.M.

Wed. Aug. 9
Nice day & warm. We went too Cresco about 1. Stopped a minute at Arthur's. He is feeling pretty good & was at Lester's threshing. Not too large a crowd at the Fair in P.M. but more at nite. Sprinkled a little about 7:45. Did look like quite a storm but didn't hit there. I went up in the grand stand in P.M. & Mon too the ball game but we both went up in the grand stand in eve. Free acts very good. Got home about 12:20. Had a letter from Isa. Gas tank went dry this noon.

Thurs. Aug. 10
Not very nice in A.M. Had a terribly hard rain & it rained for quite a while. Hard wind & some hail with it. Creek was up quite high. Cleared off in P.M. & was nice but much cooler. Arthur bro't the boys up about 2 P.M. He went too Decorah & Ruth went too Joyce's. They came after them about 5:30. We went down town in eve.

Fri. Aug. 11
Quite a nice day. Didn't do too much. Went down too Dean's a few minutes early in eve & then went over too the ball diamond & Mon watched the boys practice ball playing.

Sat. Aug. 12
Nice day but cool. We went too Decorah a little after 12. Claude & Olive went with us & they took the bus too Iowa City too visit Marie's. Got home about 4 & had an early supper & then Mon took me up too the M.E. church. The Joan of Arc had an ice cream Social for the benefit of the cemetry. Quite a few out. Deans bro't Linda up in eve & she stayed all nite with us.

Sun. Aug. 13
Nice day. Warmer. Aunt Eunice, Vin, Eunice & the kids came about 11 & were here for dinner. They left about 2 & then Mon, Linda & I went too Bluffton too the ball game. Bluffton & Waukon. Waukon won. We went for a short ride afterward & Linda went too sleep. Dean came after her about 7. They went fishing today.

Mon. Aug. 14
Rather cloudy at times during the day. Not too good a wash day but I got my washing & ironing done. Mon went down too the hall in P.M. & helped shingle some. He went down town awhile in eve. Claudes & Pauls came home in the nite.

Tues. Aug. 15
Nice day & warm. Olive, Marie & the kids were over different times in A.M. Mon went down too Ludvig's awhile in P.M. They were threshing. Ruth bro't the boys up & left them awhile in P.M. while she went too Decorah. Dean's were here awhile in eve. Mon went down town.

Wed. Aug. 16
Nice warm day. We went too Arthur's about 6:45 A.M. They threshed. Leigh Halse's machine. Louie & Mrs. K. were there too. They finished up about 5:30. We got home about 7. Mon went down town in eve. Got a letter from Isa.

Thurs. Aug. 17
Nice most of the day but quite cool. Sprinkled some in A.M. but not enough too stop threshing. Nice in P.M. We went down too Dean's early in A.M. Threshed there. Got through about 4. Mon went up too Ray Hennings too baill hay as soon as they finished threshing. Dean went up after him about 7 & then we came home. He went too Lodge in eve & I went down town. Got 8

Fri. Aug. 18
Nice day but cool. Mon baled hay at Ray's in A.M. & at Dean's in P.M. Arthur's bro't Bill up here about 10 & they went too Decorah too the Fair for awhile. They came after him about 2:45. Dean's came just as I had dinner ready so they ate with me & then they went on home. Marjorie & Gary were here off & on in A.M. Mon went down town in eve. I mowed most of the lawn in P.M.

Sat. Aug. 19
Nice day but cool. Mon worked at Dean's for awhile in A.M. & then he came home & we got ready & went too Decorah. Had dinner up town & then went too the Fair. I went up in the Grand Stand with Inez W. & Lena B. They had their Decorah Riding Club Show & it was good. B.O. & Nordness played ball & it was some game. Lasted until almost 6. B.O. won 19-17. Had a lunch on the Fair Grounds & then I went back up in the Grand Stand for the nite show. It was very good. Got home about 11:15. Cold nite. First frost of the season but guess it didn't do any harm.

Sun. Aug. 20
Nice cool day. We went down too Dean's about 4 P.M. but nobody home. Stopped at Arthur's a few minutes on our way home. Ken's are there. Went over too Roy Brown's on our way home.

Mon. Aug. 21
Nice day. I washed & ironed & did odd jobs. Mon worked at Dean's baling straw in A.M. & mowed hay at Arthur's in P.M. We went down town a few minutes in eve.

Tues. Aug. 22
Nice day. Mon was at Dean's today baling hay. I made pickles & did other jobs. Mon went down town in eve.

Wed. Aug. 23
Nice day. Much warmer. Mon baled hay at Dean's in A.M. & at Arthur's in P.M. I went too Dorothy Farnsworth & Gordon Willson's wedding with Dean's. The wedding was at the Plymouth church at 9. Quite a few out & a beautiful bride, the wedding party all looked so nice. Came home & changed clothes & went home with Dean's. We came back up here about 2:45 & Linda stayed with me & her folks went too the reception for the newly weds at [Lyle?] Farnsworth at Canton. Linda stayed all nite with us & Dean's went too the Shower Dance in eve, at Matters. Mon went down town a little while in eve.

Thurs. Aug. 24
Nice warm day until about 3 P.M. it began too cloud up. Mon baled hay & straw at Art [Neirlings?] today. I went too W.S.C.S. Rode up with Fern about 10:30. She, Miriam, Joyce & Myrtle Snell entertained. Quite a large crowd out & a swell dinner. Olive was over awhile in P.M. Went down town awhile in eve. Got much colder in the nite but cleared off.

Fri. Aug. 25
Nice bright day but cold. Mon was at Arthur's baling hay in A.M. They finished there shortly after dinner & then he & Dean went over too Raymond Halse's & baled in P.M. Mon was home early. Olive & I went too Club at Audry L's in P.M. with Dorothea R. Quite a few out. Had a "Shower" for Gloria W. She got nice gifts. We had such a good lunch.

Sat. Aug. 26
Nice day but cool. Mon went down & baled some hay for Hjalmer Vine in A.M. early. We went too Decorah a little after 11. I got my hair fixed & then went up too Dr. Fritchen's office. Spent most of the P.M. there, waiting too see him. We went down town in eve.

Sun. Aug. 27
Cloudy in A.M. & then rained off & on all P.M. & part of the nite. Rained quite hard for awhile in P.M. Joe Wilhelm & Chas. were here awhile in P.M. We went too Harmony in eve too the Show "Kill the Umpire". It was surely funny.

Mon. Aug. 28
Not very nice in A.M. Well for that matter not too warm all day but it did clear off in P.M. & wasn't too bad for a while & then it rained & in eve too. Didn't do much. Went up too the parsonage in eve too a meeting.

Tues. Aug. 29
Quite nice in P.M. but not very in A.M. Dean's bro't Linda up early in A.M. & they left her here & they went too La Crosse with Si's. They got back just as we were eating supper. We dug potatoes for awhile in P.M. & then went fishing. Got quite a few small ones. Arthur's bro't the boys up in eve & left them & they went too Decorah. They came & got Bill on their way home but left Danny all nite.

Nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon took Danny home early in A.M. & went on over too Dean's & helped get cattle in too sell. We sold 6 head & they bro't us for our share $818.97. Deans' $409.48. Olive & I went too Delores Lovelien & Harold Quandahl's wedding at the Lutheran church at 2 P.M. It was a very nice wedding but not many out. We went down too Dean's & got Linda after supper (Dean & Iona went too Matters too the Shower Dance) & then we stopped at Arthur's on our way home for a few minutes. Had a letter from Isa.

Thurs. Aug. 31
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Arthur's brought the boys up here about 8:45 & left them & they went too Minneapolis too the State Fair. Dean's came up about 10 & Iona got some corn too can. They took Linda home with them. Mon finished digging the potatoes in P.M. so we got them in the cellar. We went down too Arthur's about 4:30 & stayed there all nite. Dean came over & did the milking. Mon did the other chores. Mon went too Lodge in eve.

Dandy nice day again. Dean was over & did the milking in morn & eve. Mon went fishing in A.M. & got a nice bunch. He baled hay at Lester Bronners & at H. Vines in P.M. Arthur's came home about 7:30 & then we came on home about 8:30.

Dandy nice day. We went too Decorah about 9:30 & came home about 3. Mon got a hair cut. Dean & Linda came just after we got home & brought our half of the hog that they took too Decorah too have butchered Wed. Went down town in eve. Mart Leonhart died this P.M.

Nice day. Quite windy & rather cool. Went too the ball game here at home in P.M. Decorah [Cubs?] & B.O. B.O. won. Went too Harmony in eve too the Show "Daughter of Rosy O'Grady". It was good.

Mon. Sept. 4
Dandy nice day. I tried out lard in A.M. Didn't do much in P.M. Mon went too a ball game at Bluffton in P.M.

Tues. Sept. 5
Nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon went too Ray Hennings in P.M. & baled hay. I went up too the cemetry in P.M. too Mart Leonhart's burial. Large crowd there & beautiful flowers. Arthur bro't the boys up in eve & left them all nite. They went too Decorah for a while. Arthur is going too the G.I. school of agriculture. Cold nite.

Wed. Sept. 6
32 this morn. Warmed up some during the day but still a cool day. Ruth came up early in A.M & got the boys. Marion & Gloria Ann were here awhile in P.M. Dean was here a few minutes in eve. Cool nite. I went too Lutheran L.A.S. dinner. Very good.

Thurs. Sept. 7
Nice day some warmer. Mon baled hay at Joe Wilhelm's today. Ruth bro't Bill up in P.M. & left him while she went over too Charlene's. She took Danny with her. We went down town in eve.

Fri. Sept. 8
Nice day. Mon went down too help Arthur sort out sows too sell in A.M. & Danny came home too dinner with him. Arthur stopped for him as he came home from Harmony. Mon went fishing in P.M. & got a nice mess. I went too a "Shower" for Delores Quandahl at the Lutheran church in P.M. Large crowd out & she got so many nice gifts. Had a nice program & lunch. Dean was here awhile late in P.M. Mon & I went too Mabel too the late Show in eve. "Sierra". It was good. Cool nite.

Sat. Sept. 9
Nice day. Went too Decorah about 12. Olive went with us. Got my hair fixed. Marvin called about 6:30 from Kansas City that he was flying home so we drove too Rochester too get him. Claude & Olive went too of course. His plane got in at 10. He left St. Angelo at 11 A.M. was held up 2 hrs. at Dallas & 2 hrs. at Kansas City so he wasn't long on the way. He looks good. Stopped at Chatfield on our way home for a lunch. Got home about 12:15.

Sun. Sept. 10
Nice day. We went too the ball game here at home in P.M. B.O. played Bluffton & won. Very large crowd out. I went over too the house & visited with Iona & Linda after the game until Mon came & then we had supper there. Went too Decorah too the Show in eve. Bob Hope & Lucille Ball in "Fancy Pants". It was a funny show.

Mon. Sept. 11
Not very nice day. Damp & dreary & chilly all day. Rained quite hard at times. We went down too Deans a little while after supper. They were going too Clyde's & then starting out about 3 A.M. for Hackensack Minn. for a few days vacation.

Tues. Sept. 12
Not very nice day. Dark & damp. We went down too Dean's about 5:45 & did the chores. Came home & spent the day & then went back about 4:30 & did the nite chores. Came home for the nite.

Wed. Sept. 13
Not very nice day again. Quite chilly. We did the chores nite & morning at Dean's & were home for the day. Went too the W.S.C.S. business meeting at the church in P.M. B.O. entertained the Dorchester ladies with a program & lunch. Quite a few out & a nice lunch. Cold nite.

Thurs. Sept. 14
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Did chores morning & nite at Deans & was home & washed & ironed. We cleaned up the car also. Went down town in eve. Cold nite.

Fri. Sept. 15
Nice day. Did chores morning & nite. Arthur & Ruth bro't the boys up after dinner & left them & Ruth went too a party with Joyce & Mon went too Decorah with Arthur. We got the chores done about 6:15 & went too Arthur's for supper. Claude, Olive, Leonard & Marvin were there too. Had a good beefsteak supper, then saw their movies. The women did the dishes & the men played cards. We played canasta a little. Got home about 11:15. Cool nite.

Sat. Sept. 16
Dandy nice day. Did the chores again. Went too Decorah a little while in P.M. Saw Lelia & Linda. Mon was just about done milking when Dean's came. Linda was sure glad too get home & guess they were too. They had had a good time but not much luck fishing. They bro't us a nice fish. We came home about 7:30. Didn't go down town. Cool nite again.

Sun. Sept. 17
Dandy nice day. We took Claudes & Marvin too Mason City. Left here about 9. Got out there about 11:30. Had dinner & then drove out too Clear Lake & around the north shore for most of the way. Came back too Clear lake & watched the Lake & people for awhile. Back too Mason City & stopped at Charles & Helen's for a few minutes & then we all went too the depot. Marvin left on the 3 o'clock train for Arizona. We went back too Chas. awhile. Had a lunch there & then came on home. Got home about 7:30.

Mon. Sept. 18
Sprinkled some early in A.M. & for awhile later in A.M. Cleared off & was nice until late in P.M. it clouded up & looked quite stormy. Quite a lot of sharp thunder & lightning & a small shower. Cleared off again. Warm day. Quite hot in P.M. before the rain. Dean's bro't Linda up early in A.M. & left her & they went fishing. They got back about 7. Mon marked out the dimensions of the garage he is going too build & got quite a lot of digging done today. Little daughter born too Marlyn & Adrian Q. today. Little daughter born too Harlan & Gloria W. about 1 A.M. Sept. 19.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Washed & ironed. Mon worked at the garage digging. Finished it this P.M. Went down town in eve. Moving picture shows started at the Hall tonite so I went. Not too many out & I didn't like the show too well.

Wed. Sept. 20
Our wedding day. Not too nice a day. Rather dark. Quite warm until later in P.M. It sprinkled some & got cooler. Rained hard in the nite. Had quite a lot of thunder & lightning in eve. Mon went down too Dean's in A.M. & loaded up a load of old boards etc. & Dean bro't them up with the tractor. Dean had his car up too the garage in P.M. too get it fixed but didn't get it done so he came up for Mon too take him home just as we were eating supper. He had supper with us & then we took him home & stayed a little while. Linda was already in bed when we got there. Had a congratulation card from Alberta.

Thurs. Sept. 21
Not very nice day. Rained off & on during the day. Some times quite hard in A.M. Not too bad in P.M. Damp & chilly. The W.S.C.S. had a food sale at Sheley's store in P.M. & eve & I was there all the time except long enough for supper. Hans Breispretcher had a sale in P.M. selling furniture, old creamery & [grounds?] & everything they had so there was a large crowd in town. We had a pretty good sale.

Fri. Sept. 22
Nice bright day but a little cool. Dean & Linda were here a few minutes in A.M. Lloyd had Dean's car fixed so Mon took it down too them & they bro't him home. He worked around the house some in P.M. We went up too Howard R's awhile in eve. Cool nite.

Sat. Sept. 23
Nice day but cool. We went too Decorah about 11:15. I got my hair fixed & Mon went too Dr. F. & had a cyst taken off his back. Got home about 4 & then Mon went down too Dell Mc's where Arthur was baling hay & he finished up the job & let Arthur go home too his chores. Mon got home for supper about 7. Went down town in eve. Cold nite. Froze enough too freeze the corn & garden stuff & lots of flowers.

Sun. Sept. 24
Not too nice a day. Cloudy & a cool wind. Mon went down too Lester Bronner's in A.M. where they had a caterpillar stuck in the old creek bed (They are changing the creeks course.) We stopped there awhile on our way too the ball game in P.M. too. They had Christy F. with the maintainer & Ed Dawley with his big machine but they didn't get it out. B.O. played Dorchester & lost 5-4. Cold nite. Some frost again.

Mon. Sept. 25
Rather cloudy early in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice warm day. Raymond Halse helped put in the forms for the garage. They finished about 4 P.M. Dean & Linda came about 9:30 & Dean helped too until noon. Mon went too Decorah about 10:30 & had his back dressed. Dean went too Mabel right after dinner & left Linda here. He & Iona went too Decorah after that & Linda stayed here until they got back. Mon went down town a few minutes in eve. Dean's got a new oil burner this P.M. Traded their old one in on it. Got the same kind only with a blower on.

Tues. Sept. 26
Nice day. I washed & ironed. Dean & Arthur helped fix & pour the cement for the foundation for the garage. Claude helped some in A.M. too. They finished shortly after dinner. I went up too Ada's awhile in P.M. Arthur's brot the boys up in eve & left them all nite. They went too Decorah. Dean's got a deep freeze today.

Wed. Sept. 27
Not too nice a day. Dark & damp most of the time. Sun did shine some. Ruth came up about 8 for the boys. We took some meat down too Deans' at noon & put it in the deep freeze. Mon stayed at Gordon's station for a while in eve. Got home about 9. Joe Lewis, Ezzard Charles fight tonite. Chas. won but not with any knock out. Rained hard in eve with quite a bit of thunder & lightning. Warmer tonite.

Thurs. Sept. 28
Not too bad a day & not too good. Rained in eve & nite. Dean came up in A.M. & helped Mon take the form, of the foundation, away & fill in the floor space with dirt. Ed Arnold was here & helped some too so he was here for dinner too. Went down town in eve.

Fri. Sept. 29
Not very nice day. Dark & damp. Didn't rain much but was damp all day. Both of the boys came up in A.M. too see about putting in the floor of the garage but it was too damp. Claude took Olive & I too Club at Lenora's in P.M. Not too many out. Had a "Shower" for Charlene & Mrs. Virgil Snell & Mrs. [J-----?] Kruse were initiated. Rode home with Dorothea R. Cool nite.

Nice day. The boys came up early in A.M. & Claude came over & helped & they put in the cement for the garage floor. Got through & had dinner about 11. We went too Decorah in P.M. Pretty warm down there & a big crowd in town. Mon went back too Dr. F. too have his back dressed. Went down too Deans' a few minutes just after supper. Went down town in eve.

Quite a warm windy day. Rather cloudy at times. Rained some about 8 & then again in the nite. I went too church in A.M. We went too Cresco in P.M. too the motorcycle races & then went too Decorah in eve too the Show "Broken Arrow" with Jimmie Stewart. It was good.

Mon. Oct. 2
Rather damp & dark in A.M. & quite warm. Cleared off in P.M. & was pretty windy. Got much colder about 4 P.M. We went down too Deans' about 9 A.M. & I stayed there. Mon went too Arthur's. Iona & I dressed 14 chickens & put them in the deep freeze. Dean went too Decorah in P.M. Mon came after me about 5. Cold nite.

Tues. Oct. 3
About 29º this morn. Quite nice until later in P.M. it clouded up & sprinkled some. Cleared off in eve & was nice but cold. Quite a wind all day. I washed & ironed. Mon went too Arthur's in P.M. & helped cutting corn. I went too Prosper in eve with Brayton's too their annual bazaar & lunch. They had such nice things & a good lunch. Got home about 11. Quite a hard frost tonite.

Wed. Oct. 4
About 27º this morn. Nice day but cool. Mon worked at Arthur's in A.M. I went too Decorah in P.M. with Albert's. The Decorah W.S.C.S. entertained the B.O. W.S.C.S. 14 down from B.O. Had a good meeting & a nice lunch. Got home about 5. Mon went down town awhile in eve. He drove tractor for Schimmings in P.M. Cold nite.

Thurs. Oct. 5
Not very nice day. Damp & cool. We went too Decorah about 9:20. Mon went & had his back dressed & I got some medicine for a heck of a cold that came on in the nite. Went down too Dean's late in P.M. & got some cream. Nobody home but we met them & talked a minute on our way home. Mon went too Lodge.

Fri. Oct. 6
Dandy nice day & quite warm. Fern & Howard came about 8 & we went too Waterloo too the Cattle Congress. Very large crowd there. We went around the grounds all day looking at things & then went up in the Hippidrome in the eve. That was just about packed too capacity. Good program. We got lost on leaving the grounds so had quite a time in finding our way out of the city. Stopped up town for a lunch. Rained almost all of the way home & some times quite hard. Quite a lot of thunder & lightning. Didn't get home until 2:30.

Quite a nice day. Went too Decorah about 11. Got my hair fixed. Didn't go down town in eve. Too lazy. Had a letter from Isa.

Quite a nice day only the sun didn't shine too much. We were alone all day. Went too Decorah too the Show in eve. "My Blue Heaven". It was good.

Dandy nice day. Quite warm. I washed & ironed. Mon painted all day. The east porch & around the windows. Dean's were up awhile in eve.

Nice day. Warmed up during the day. Mon worked at the garage in A.M. & painted in P.M. Went too the Show at B.O. hall in eve. Quite a crowd out. "Whispering Smith". Pretty good.

Wed. Oct. 11
Bills First Birthday. Dandy nice day although quite windy in P.M. Mon worked at the garage in A.M. & finished painting around part of the windows in P.M. We went down too Dean's a few minutes in P.M. & then stopped at Arthur's for awhile on our way home. Had some of Bill's birthday cake & jello. He walks all over now.

Dandy nice day. Mon worked at the garage all day. I went down too the Hall in P.M. & helped Luella & Iona sweep up the clean up a little, it is surely a dirty place. Went down town in eve.

Dandy nice day. Mon worked at the garage all day. Arthur & Danny were up in P.M. & helped. Went too the first dance of the season at the hall tonite. Good crowd out & a good time. Skiam boys played.

Dandy nice day. We went down too Dean's a few minutes in A.M. & then went too Decorah. Came home the river road & stopped a minute at Dean's & at Arthur's. He was out in the field baling beans. They have company from Minneapolis & Cedar Rapids for the week end. Went down town in eve.

Dandy nice day. We left home about 3 P.M. & went too Padden's. Harriet, Floyd & Ray were there too. Harriet went home about 5:30. We had supper & then Ruth took us all too Marquette. Took Ray too his work there. Came back too Postville & stayed awhile & then on home. Had a good visit. Got home about 10.

Mon. Oct. 16
Grand day. Quite warm. More than 80º here in the middle of the day. Cloud went over in P.M. & it sprinkled a little but was nice afterward. I washed & ironed. Mon worked at the garage. Dean was up awhile in P.M. & helped him.

Tues. Oct. 17
Grand day. Nice & warm. Mon worked at the garage all day. A young man was around getting subscribers for magazines & was here for dinner. Went too the Show in eve. "Ropes of Sand". Didn't like it too well. Quite a crowd out. No one got the money.

Dandy nice day. Mon worked at the garage all day. Dean was here for dinner. Sold the old sows this morning. 15 sows weighed 4565 @ 18.75 per cwt. Bro't $855.88 Our share 570.59.

Thurs. Oct. 19
Dandy nice day. We left home about 7:30 A.M. & I went too the Hospital & had an examination of the stomach. Got out about 9:30 & we went up too Deans a little while. He took the tractor too Decorah too have it overhauled & we went back there about 10:30. I went back too the Hospital about 11:30 & had X Rays of my stomach. Got out of there at 1:30. We took Dean home & then I stopped at the church on our way home too the W.S.C.S. business meeting (missed the dinner) Stopped too see Mrs. Koenig awhile on my way home. Went down town in eve.

Not too nice a day. Did clear off some in P.M. but was rather damp in A.M. & cool. Mon worked at the garage all day finishing up the doors. Guess its done now.

Tues. Oct. 24
Dandy nice day. We went down & got Dean after dinner & went too Decorah. The tractor was ready so he bro't it home. I went too the Dr. about the Xray pictures & he said I was O.K. Had too wait around Decorah for awhile about some work Mon was having done so we didn't get home until 5:15. Went too the Show "Blue Lagoon" in eve. It was good. Large crowd out. The little Wenthold girl's name was drawn so she got $15.

Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Dean came up in A.M. with the tractor & scoop so they fixed a driveway into the garage. He was here for dinner. We went down there awhile later in P.M. Ruth, Florence, Joyce & Glorahanna G. were here in eve & we planned the annual W.S.C.S. dinner. They went home about 12. Had a letter from Isa.

Nice day but not too bright. Did sprinkle a little & was cooler. Ruth bro't Bill up & left him in P.M. while she went too Decorah too a meeting. Mon was at Dean's in A.M. taking care of pigs. Went down town in eve.

Beautiful day. Went too Club in P.M. with Dorothea R. Not too many out. Club was at Marlyn K's. at Canton. Went too the dance in eve. Not too many out but had a good time. Frank Christen was up & put on our new [Rasco?] screen & storm windows in P.M.

Beautiful day again. Nice & warm. We went too Decorah awhile in P.M. Went down town in eve. Iona & Linda were in the store for the eve too.

Dandy nice day. We left home about 1:30 & went for a ride. Went too the State Line & then west & north too Niagra Cave then on west & north & ended up in Spring Valley then back south too Davis Corners & on home. Got home about 5. Had a swell ride.

Dandy nice day. I washed in A.M. Albert took Florence, Mrs. G. & I too Ruth's in P.M. where Joyce met us & we finished planning our Annual dinner. Mon came after us about 4. Went up too Arnold's in eve to make out the year books for the W.S.C.S. meetings. Mon painted at the garage all day.

Dandy nice day. Mon painted at the garage until about 10:30 & then he went down & helped Arthur with carpenter work the rest of the day. Went too the Show in eve. Large crowd out. "Miss Grant Takes Richmond". It was good. Elaine Marlow's name was called & she got $12½.

Chilly, dark, damp day. Mon tried too paint in A.M. but it was too cold. Ruth bro't the boys up in P.M. & left them while she went over too Charlene's. We went down too Dean's a little while after supper.

Dandy nice. About 15º early in A.M. but it warmed up during the day. Arthur & Danny were here a minute early in A.M. We went too Decorah about 10. I went up too Frank Miller's. Finished up Uncle George's business today & got my pay. $48. Got my hair fixed & Mon got a hair cut. We got home about 3. Went down too Dean's a while & then stopped at Arthur's a little while on our way home. Went down town in eve. Cold nite. Quite a heavy frost.

Nice day. Mon went down too Arthur's awhile early in A.M. We were alone all day. We went too the show in B.O. in eve. Had too have it tonite as Tues. is Election Day & couldn't have it then. Quite a crowd out. "Geronimo" Indian. Wasn't too bad. Alberta's name was called but she wasn't there.

Dandy nice day but terribly windy. Went too the Charley Cook Sale about 11 with Joe & Iona. The Club served the lunch. Sold quite a lot of stuff. Took in over $80. Rode home with Claude's. Dean was here a minute in eve.

Tues. Nov. 7
Election Day. Not too bad a day but not as nice as yesterday. Wind didn't blow though. I washed. Olive & I went too vote in P.M. & then went over too see Josie C. Mon left home about 7:30 A.M. & was at the Hall all day & nite. I ironed in eve.

Wed. Nov. 8
Not very nice day. Rained off & on all day & sometimes quite hard in A.M. Got colder in late P.M. & the wind started too blow. Blew quite hard all nite & froze hard. Ground froze for the first time. Mon got home about 7:30 A.M. & then he slept quite a lot during the day. Linda was here awhile in A.M. while Dean went too Prosper. Went too W.S.C.S. meeting at Florence E's in P.M. with Miriam. Not many out. Got home about 5:15.

Thurs. Nov. 9
About 22º this morn. Cold windy day. Snowed off & on all day but not much snow fell either. I was at Aunt Alice's all P.M. helping quilt a baby's crib quilt for the Sale. Went up too Zoa's in eve too choir practice.

Some warmer but still plenty chilly. Sun shone part of the day. Mon went down too Arthur's in A.M. & helped pick corn until about 4 P.M. Dean's came after me at noon & I went down there & we dressed 13 old hens that were left. Mon came after me & we came home about 5. Went too the dance in eve. Not too many out but a good time. Cold nite. Gloria Ann Narveson & Marion Wicks were married this P.M.

Quite a nice day. We went too Decorah about 11. I had quite a lot of running around too do. Arthur Abrahamson came in on the bus today & he came from Decorah with us. We went over too Dean's on our way home & I helped Iona get the hens fixed for the deep freeze. Mon took Arthur down too Kate's but she wasn't home so he came back too B.O. with us. We went too a Shower Dance for Lewis Wernett & wife at the Hall in eve. Very small crowd out. Just a few that danced. Had some good dances though. Got home about 1:30. Skiam boys played.

Nice day. Went too church in P.M. Olive went with me. Bishop [Braahares?] & wife & Dr. Dill & wife were there. Bishop B. talked. He is a very good speaker. Marlyn & Adrian K. had their baby baptized "Jacquelin Renee". Quite a few out.

Nice day. I washed & ironed.

Tues. Nov. 14
Not too bad in A.M. but clouded up about noon & sprinkled a little & was dark the rest of the day. The menu com. met here in P.M. too finish up the last business before the Sale & Dinner. Went too the Show in eve. "Special Agent". Wasn't too bad. Big crowd. Ralph Greenslade's name was called for 32.50 for he wasn't there. Had a letter from Isa.

Wed. Nov. 15
Rather dark day & cooler. Mon helped pick corn at Arthur's all day. I went up too the church & helped most of P.M. Getting ready for tomorrow nite. Got quite a lot done. Went too a school program at the Hall in eve put on by the Snell school. It was good & quite a crowd out. Dean was at Stanley Matters today so he couldn't help Arthur.

Thurs. Nov. 16
Rather a dark day & quite windy. Mon helped at Arthurs again this A.M. Stanley Matter had a closing out Sale today so Dean was there helping. Mon took me up too the church about 2 P.M. We had our Annual Dinner & Bazaar tonite. Started serving at 5 P.M. & didn't finish until nearly 9 (Turkey Dinner) Had a very large crowd. Carl Wennes & Son auctioned off the fancy work. Things went pretty good. The Dinner & Bazaar bro't over $900.00. I cooked a 23½ lb. turkey again.

Fri. Nov. 17
Not too bad a day. Went up too the church in A.M. & helped clean up. Didn't do much of anything in P.M. Olive was here awhile in P.M.

Sat. Nov. 18
Quite a nice day. We went too Decorah. Got my hair fixed. Went down town in eve.

Not too bad a day. We were alone all day & eve.

Mon. Nov. 20
2º above this morn. Dandy nice day. Warmed up quite a bit. I washed & ironed. Went up too the ministers in eve too a meeting. Linda was here all day. Her folks went too La Crosse with Clyde's.

Tues. Nov. 21
Nice day. Mon went down too Dean's early in A.M. too get cattle in too be T.B. tested. He got home about 9 & then we went down too Arthur's & got a goose & took it too Decorah & had it dressed. Got home about 12:30. Went down too Arthur's & Dean's a few minutes in P.M. Went too the Show in eve. "Streets of Laredo". Quite a crowd out. Doris Ward got the jack pot $42.50. Snowed some in the nite.

Wed. Nov. 22
Not too nice a day. Snowed quite a little in A.M. Not very cold. Some freezing on the pavement. Cleaned up the house some & did other odd jobs. Went too a school program at the Hall in eve put on by the B.O. school. They had a 3 act comedy play "For Goodness Sake Grandma". Quite a few out & a good program. Wind got around into the north in the nite & it got much cooler.

Thurs. Nov. 23
Thanksgiving Day. Just about zero this morn. 2 below. Cold, windy day & didn't warm up all day. Got much colder at nite but the wind did go down in the nite. Arthur's, Dean's, Claude & Olive & Marion & Gloria Ann were here for dinner. Had goose & chicken. They all bro't dinner so we had a good dinner. Mon took Marion & Gloria Ann back too Decorah about 2:45. Claude went along too. The folks all went home about 4. Cold nite.

Fri. Nov. 24
10º below this morn. Did warm up some during the day. Quite a nice day. Claude & Olive came over & ate dinner with us. Helped too eat up the scraps. Mrs. Ray [Mikesh?] & Mrs. Raymond Holt were here just after dinner too see about reorganizing a Rebecca Lodge in B.O. Went too the dance in eve. Had a good time.

Sat. Nov. 25
Quite a nice day. Thawed quite a little. We went too Decorah awhile in P.M. Didn't go down town in eve. Wind started too blow quite hard about supper time & kept it up all nite. Not too cold though.

Sun. Nov. 26
12º above this morn. Quite a nice day. Arthur's bro't the boys up about 12:30 & left them & they went too Decorah too the Show. They came back after them about 4:30.

Mon. Nov. 27
Quite cold early in A.M. & rather cloudy but cleared off & was a nice day. I washed. We went down too Dean's in P.M. Mon & Dean went up in the woods, started cutting wood for the winter. We came home about 5. I went up too Arnold's in eve too a meeting with Miriam & Paul.

Tues. Nov. 28
Rather a dark day but not too cold. Mon was at Dean's all day chopping wood. Went too the Show "My Friend Irma" in eve. It was good. Quite a crowd out. Mrs. Walter Marlow's name was called but she wasn't there.

Wed. Nov. 29
Dandy nice day. Mon was at Dean's all day chopping wood. I went too choir practice at Zoa's in eve.

Thurs. Nov. 30
Quite a nice day but the wind was chilly. Mon was at Dean's all day working at the wood they finished up cutting & got it all hauled up. The I.O.O.F. had an oyster supper & dance in the upper hall after Lodge. Quite a few out & had a good time. The Skaim boys played.

Fri. Dec. 1
Not too bad in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & snowed quite hard for a little while. Mon went down too Dean's in A.M. & over too Geo. Wernetts & around. Dean's bro't Linda up about 10:30 & left her & they went too Decorah. They got back here about 1 & had dinner here & then on home. Went too Club with Dorothea R. too Iona M's. Quite a few out. Had nomination of officers. Went too a farewell dance at the Hall in eve for Earl Wernett & wife. Skaim boys played. Good crowd out & had a good time. Rained while we were there & froze on everything. Pavement was very slippery. Many cars had trouble.

Sat. Dec. 2
Rained & snowed off & on during the day but not much moisture fell. Didn't do much of anything.

Sun. Dec. 3
Quite a nice day. We went down too Arthur's about 3 P.M. & stayed until about 5. Ruth was in Decorah but came home just before we left. I went too church in eve with Albert's. They are having Revival meetings this coming week starting tonite. Not too many out.

Mon. Dec. 4
Quite a nice day. I washed in A.M. Mon went too Ludvig Quandahl's Sale awhile in P.M. I went with Albert & Florence in P.M. too Kenneth Darlings, but no one home, too Forrest Wanless' a few minutes, too Howard Rollin's awhile & then down too see Alberta & Josie. Went too church in eve.

Tues. Dec. 5
Not very nice day. Snowed most of the day & still not too much snow fell. Wind came up & it got colder later in P.M. We went down too Dean's in P.M. They sawed the pile of wood. Leigh Halse sawed it. Si & La Verne were there too. Got home about 5. Went too the Show "Yes Sir Thats My Baby" in eve. It was good. Not too big a crowd out. Junior Peterson got the $20. Ironed in A.M.

Wed. Dec. 6
Snowed all day & at times quite hard. Not cold. Didn't do much of anything. Went too church in eve. Not too many out. Roads too full of snow.

Thurs. Dec. 7
Snowy day again. Quite a little snow fell but it wasn't cold. Thawed all day. Went too church in eve. Not many out. Wind came up just before we came home & blew quite hard & got some colder. Blew the snow quite a little.

Fri. Dec. 8
Not too nice a day & not too bad. Dark day. We went too Decorah about 11. I got my hair fixed. We got home about 3. Went too church in eve. Very few out. Last nite of the meetings. Went too the dance after church. Not too large a crowd out but we had a good time.

Sat. Dec. 9
Not too bad a day. We went too Dean's in P.M. & Mon helped him put a new hog feeder together. Didn't go down town in eve. Had a letter from Isa.

Sun. Dec. 10
Not very nice in A.M. but cleared off & was nice in P.M. & eve. Cooler in eve. Mon went down too Dean's in A.M. & they finished fixing the feeder. We went down too Arthur's after supper & stayed with the boys while Arthur & Ruth went too Decorah. Ruth played in the Messiah at Luther. They got home a little after 12.

Mon. Dec. 11
Not too nice a day. Snowed off & on all day. Went up too Ada's a little while in P.M.

Tues. Dec. 12
Dandy nice day. Thawed some. I washed & ironed & did some cleaning. Dean & Linda were here a few minutes just after dinner.

Wed. Dec. 13
Dandy nice day. I had the W.S.C.S. meeting this P.M. Had our Xmas party. About 20 out. I got a box of soap from Mrs. Arnold. Went too practice at Zoa's in eve. Florence bro't me home.

Thurs. Dec. 14
Danny's 4th Birthday. Not very nice day. Rather dark in A.M. & started too snow about 3 P.M. Didn't snow too much but the wind came up about 6:30 & blew the snow. Quit snowing then. Dean's came after me about 11 A.M. & we went too Locust. Iona, Mrs. [Bender?] & Mrs. Pfister entertained for their Xmas party. Had a good crowd & a swell lunch. I got a package of bowl covers from some one. We didn't get back here until about 6. Took quite a while too wash all the dishes & get cleaned up. Lelia & La Verne came home with us too. Danny was quite sick for his Birthday but was some better by nite. Mon went too Lodge in eve but not enough came too have it.

Fri. Dec. 15
Quite a cold day but very nice. We went down too Arthur's awhile in A.M. Had some of Danny's Birthday cake & ice cream. He feels pretty good today. Went down too Melvin Underbakke's in P.M. & met with Evelyn & Valeda W. & wrote the cards too the elderly people & sick ones from the Club. Cold nite.

Sat. Dec. 16
Nice day but cold. We went too Decorah about 9:45. Did some Xmas shopping. Mon got a hair cut. Got home about 2:30. Went down town in eve awhile. Cold nite.

Sun. Dec. 17
15º below this morn. Nice day. Rather cool. Dean & Linda were here a few minutes about noon. Dean's were up for supper. Arthur's were supposed too come too, too celebrate Iona's & Danny's Birthdays but Danny wasn't so well so they couldn't come. We had oysters. They went home about 10. Chas. Cavanaugh died this P.M.

Mon. Dec. 18
28º below this morning but it warmed up during the day. I washed & ironed. Went up too Arnold's in eve too a meeting. Rode home with Miriam & Paul. Had a letter from Aunt Eunice saying that Isa is not very well. Cold nite.

Tues. Dec. 19
Warmer this morning. Not too nice in A.M. but some better in P.M. Went too the show in eve Abbot & Costello in "Africa Screams". It was sure funny. Ruby Rehwinkels name was called but she wasn't there.

Wed. Dec. 20
About 13º below this morn. Very nice day. Warmed up some. We went down too Dean's a few minutes in A.M. Dean was here for dinner. I went too Charlie Cavanaugh's funeral at the M.E. church in P.M. Not many out. Mon went too Harmony in P.M. with Arthur. Went too choir practice in eve at Zoa's.

Thurs. Dec. 21
Nice day. Dean's bro't Linda up in A.M. & left her while they went too Decorah. Started too rain about 4 P.M. but didn't rain long. Just enough too make the pavement slippery. Cleared off in eve & was very nice but the wind blew quite hard. Arthur's bro't Bill up about 7:15 & left him & they went over too Bernard Wanless'. They came after him about 12:30. Dean was here a few minutes in eve. Mon went too Lodge. Had a letter from Isa.

Fri. Dec. 22
Nice day. We went too Decorah about 9:30. Got my hair fixed & finished my Xmas shopping. We got home about 3. Mon got me a [K-----?] mixer for Xmas so we were examining that for a while. Olive & I went too the program at the Lutheran church in eve & it was good. Big crowd out. The men went down town.

Sat. Dec. 23
Nice day. Thawed quite a lot. We went down too Arthur's about 9:30. Roger, his wife & baby are here for Xmas & they were at Arthur's so we went too see them. Stayed for dinner & came home about 2. Rogers wife is a Mexican & can't speak English but she seems very nice. The baby Marcella Ruth is very cute. Went down town in eve. Got colder in eve.

Sun. Dec. 24
Nice day but cold & windy in the day time but the wind went down before nite. Went too church in A.M. We were alone all day. Went too church in eve. We had our Xmas tree & program. Quite a crowd out. Danny spoke a piece for his first time. He & Ruth bro't me home. Marvin came on the bus, from the north, tonite. Folks didn't look for him until tomorrow.

Mon. Dec. 25
Bad day & night. Snowed & blowed & drifted all day & most of the nite. Zero all day & nite. We were alone all day. Went down too Dean's about 5 P.M. Arthur's were there for supper too. They had some trouble getting out of their driveway but we didn't have any trouble at all. Had such a good supper & then got our gifts. I got a necklace & ear ring set & dish cloths from Arthur's & Mon got cigarettes & we got a hassock from Dean's. The kiddies had so much fun with their gifts. We got home about 10. Not very nice driving.

Tues. Dec. 26
Dandy nice day. Not too cold. Didn't do too much. We were at Claude's for an oyster supper & then Olive & I went too the Show. Guess the men did but Marvin went too Decorah. Bing Crosby in "Connecticut Yankee". No one got the money. Mighty cold nite but still.

Wed. Dec. 27
35º below this morning. Warmed up some during the day & was a nice day. Cool nite again.

Thurs. Dec. 28
13º below this morn but warmed up & thawed some. I washed & ironed. Mon went too Prosper in A.M. & got some frozen fish we had ordered. Dean's came up for dinner & took their share of the fish home with them. Went down too the Hall in eve. A bunch of ladies came up from Decorah & met with us after Lodge was over too try & start a Rebecca Lodge in B.O. Got 13 signers. They bro't lunch along too. 4 ladies were down from Canton also. Marvin went back too Arizona today.

Fri. Dec. 29
Nice day. Went too Club at Lillian's in P.M. Quite a few out. Had our Xmas party & the new officers took over today. Vivian Breitsprecher Pres. Lenora Leistikow V. Pres. Lillian S. Sec. Ruth Price asst. Sec. & Olive Treas. Had a nice lunch. Went too the dance in eve. Quite a few out & had a good time.

Sat. Dec. 30
Quite a nice day. We went too Decorah about 9:30 & came home about 12. Went down too Deans a while about 3:30. Went down town in eve awhile.

Quite a nice day but not too much sunshine. Went too church in A.M. We were alone all day.
