Tues. Jan. 1
Nice bright day but quite cold. We went down to Claude's & spent the day. Papa & mama were there too.

Wed. Jan. 2
Beautiful day. Thawed quite a lot. We went to B.O. in A.M. Dean went back too school today. Howard went along & Arthur took in to Decorah. Gust went along with them too. We went up to Haugen's in eve. Geo's & Ole's were there too & Uncle Marion. Sure had a good time. Played cards & danced. They are sure good musicians. Had a nice lunch too. Got home about 3:30 & it sure was blowing & getting colder when we came home.

Thurs. Jan. 3
Nice bright day, but cold. Didn't do much of anything.

Fri. Jan. 4
Not so cold. Nice & bright. We washed today & I got most of my ironing done. Tom D. was here awhile about noon.

Sat. Jan. 5
Dandy day. Thawed a lot. We went up home & spent the most of the day. Olive & the kids & Isa & her boys were there in P.M. We tied a quilt for Isa in P.M. We were invited to Geo's in eve, but Mon had such a cold we couldn't go. Arthur Walters was here a few minutes in eve & then the boys went over to Howards with him. We got the rest of the returns from our T. B. Cattle today. $26.26.

Sun. Jan. 6
Beautiful day. Thawed a lot. Dean was out in the woods most of the day. Some young people got stuck in the snow up by the corner with a car & were there from before 4 until past 5. The girl came down to the house & got warm. Mon & the boys helped him with his car. He was Gerald Good but don't know who the girl was except she was from Calmar.

Mon. Jan. 7
Dark gloomy misty day. Quite warm though. Arthur's school started again today. Mon went on the cream route. Little son born to Dorothy & Roy Snell.

Tues. Jan. 8
Another dark day. Rained more today. Arthur didn't come home tonite. The snow plow came up through about 10 P.M. & cleaned out our road. Howard went thro' with his car today but had quite a time getting thro'.

Wed. Jan. 9
Rainy, nasty day. Mon took the cream to B.O. today. Arthur came home with him.

Thurs. Jan. 10
Snowed some early in A.M. but cleared off & was a dandy day. Thawed quite a little. Mon took me to B.O. about noon were up home for dinner. Olive was there too. Went to Club in P.M. at Mrs. Wulfsburgs. Quite a crowd out. Had a swell lunch. Election of officers. Stella Reed Pres. Dorothea Reid V. Pres - Dorothy Seelye Sec. Iona Moran Asst. Sect. Luella Young Treas. Arthur & Maxine rode home with us.

Fri. Jan. 11
Nice day but cooler. I washed in A.M. & scrubbed in P.M. Dell Morrison died tonite.

Sat. Jan. 12
Regular blizzard but not so cold. We went up home about noon. Arthur & I came home about 4. Mon went to Decorah with Walt R. after the cream checks & then he walked home from the four corners. He got home about 7. Dean went to Prosper in P.M. with Gates so he wasn't in B.O. when we came home & then he had to walk home from Gates. He got home about 6. Howard was over & spent the eve. We played cards.

Sun. Jan. 13
Blizzard & quite a bit colder. Mon & Arthur went out east in P.M. & got some green wood.

Mon. Jan. 14
Pretty cold in A.M. but warmed up some in P.M. Not too hot though. Dave took Maxine too school early in A.M. & Arthur rode with him. Mon went on the cream route. Dell Morrison was buried at B.O. this P.M.

Tues. Jan. 15
Nice day. Not so cold until late in P.M. It cooled off quite a bit. We took the cream to B.O. Had dinner up home. The road is sure drifted in some places. Arthur didn't come home tonite.

Wed. Jan. 16
Sleeted, rained & did a little of everything. Pretty nasty day to be out. Arthur didn't come home tonite.

Thurs. Jan. 17
Pretty nice day but cold in A.M. Warmed up in P.M. Ice all over everything. Pretty slippery. Mon walked up to Jack's in eve & then rode to B.O. with Lovlien's to a euchre party at Sammie's pool hall & saloon. The losers payed for an oyster supper. Mon was on the winning side. Dean & I stayed alone. Beautiful night. Almost as light as day. Mon got home about 1.

Fri. Jan. 18
Quite a nice day but cool. We washed today. Arthur got home about 2 P.M. No school at H.S. this P.M. Dean went over to Howards in eve. Verna was sick & Howard came over about 11 & talked to Dr. Larsen.

Sat. Jan. 19
Quite warm until late in P.M. it got colder & the wind & snow blew. It rained & snowed most of the day until the wind changed into the N. We went up home about noon. Howard was over a few minutes in eve. Verna is better.

Sun. Jan. 20
Cold, windy blizzardy day. Got pretty cold late in P.M. & eve. Wind still blew.

Mon. Jan. 21
20º below this morning. Wind blew again all day. Quite a bit of snow blew in A.M. Warmed up some during the middle of the day. Wind went down late in P.M. but plenty cold. Arthur walked to B.O. in P.M. Dean didn't have any school. Mon was over to Howards awhile in A.M.

Tues. Jan. 22
Somewhat warmer (wind in the S.) until about 3 P.M. the wind whipped around to the N. & it sure did blew & kept the snow going too. Dean went to school & Mon went on the cream route. He didn't have any trouble until he got back to Browns & then it was drifted so bad in there he had to shovel. He got home about 4:30.

Wed. Jan. 23
From 28º to 34º below around here this morning & a pretty stiff wind from the N. Dean didn't go to school. Howard was over a few minutes in eve & Dave in A.M. Pretty cold nite.

Thurs. Jan. 24
Mon's 40th Birthday. Cold windy day. Mon took the cream too town in A.M. Dave went with him. They got back about 1. The second Corn Hog checks were given out at B.O. this A.M. We got $32.79. Dave was over late in P.M. awhile. Dean went to school again. Christ M. fell & broke his leg tonite. He is staying at Jack's.

Fri. Jan. 25
Not so cold today. Quite nice in A.M. but snowed some in P.M. I washed in A.M. Arthur walked home tonite.

Sat. Jan. 26
Nice bright day but the wind was rather cold. We went to B.O. in A.M. Lizzie & Maxine went too. Arthur, Lizzie & I went to Decorah about noon. Will Darling rode down with us. Lots of ice on the pavement. Quite a crowd in town. We got back to B.O. about 4. Lizzie stayed at Bernice's. Had to wait in B.O. until they got back from Decorah with the cream cans so it was after 5 before we left B.O. Maxine rode home with us. Also Andrew Haugen.

Sun. Jan. 27
Dandy nice day. Dean was over to Howards in A.M. & over to Daves & down in the woods in P.M. Gladys, Dale, (?Carmen?) & Arland were at Lizzies so Dean was with the boys. Happy, Ray H. & Milo Noecker came here in P.M. & Mon went fox hunting with them. They didn't get anything.

Mon. Jan. 28
Cloudy, gloomy day. Not so cold though. Arthur walked too school & home again tonite. Mon went on the cream route.

Tues. Jan. 29
Cloudy day. Tried to snow but didn't do much of it. Howard was here awhile in A.M. & Pearl was over about noon & used the telephone.

Wed. Jan. 30
Rather a cool cloudy day. We took the cream up town. Went to mama's. Wilma & the kids, Olive, Isa & Rev. Prust were there in P.M. too. We waited until school was out & Arthur rode home with us. Ole rode as far as his place. Grace Knox was here when we got home. She is the Census Enumerator.

Thurs. Jan. 31
Not a cold day but cloudy. Didn't do much of anything. Howard was here awhile about noon. Ed D. was here in P.M. Arthur didn't come home tonite. We went to B.O. in eve. The B.O.H.S. put on a wrestling & tumbling exhibition at the school house. I went up there & Mon played euchre at Sammie's. I went to Agnes' after the doings at the school house & played cards. Luella Y. & Bertha Mc. were there too. We got home about 1. Happy went with us & came back with us.

Fri. Feb. 1
Quite a nice day. I washed. Mon went to B.O. with Dave in P.M. after the kids.

Sat. Feb. 2
Dandy day. Thawed a lot. We went up home in A.M. Olive & Isa were there in P.M. too. We came home about 5. Dale Arnold was in B.O. & he come home with us & stayed all nite. The boys were over to Howards in eve. Thawed the ice off the pavement today.

Sun. Feb. 3
Dandy nice day. Dean & Dale went away in A.M. Went down to McCauleys & over to Dave's. Dale went home in P.M. Dean came home about 4. The snowplow came up through then & Mon & the boys followed them. Arthur didn't go very far but Dean & Mon went as far as Krumm's gate & watched them plow thro' the big drifts. Florence & Chas. Baker's little baby died this P.M. of whooping cough & pneumonia.

Mon. Feb. 4
Rather cold wind from the south today. Cloudy. Mon went on the cream route. Jack Whalen fell this P.M. & broke his arm.

Tues. Feb. 5
Pretty cold wind but a nice bright day. Mon took the cream to B.O. in A.M. & I rode as far as Krumms with him. Had a Farm Bureau Meeting there. "Cheese Making." Gladys, Bernice, Audry, Harold & I were the only ones there. Had a good meeting & a swell dinner. I rode back as far as Christ's corner with Harold's.

Wed. Feb. 6
Cloudy, cool day. Arthur drove the car to school today. I washed & ironed. Mon went too Seelyes, Gusts & Jacks today. We went up town in eve. Mon played euchre (& lost) at Sammies & I went to Agnes'. Luella, Berth Mc., LuRene Webb were there too. We played cards. Got home about 11:30. Florence Baker's baby was buried this P.M. Got a sack of Larabee's Best Flour $1.95 (1.99 + tax).

Thurs. Feb. 7
Cloudy. Cool day again. The kids walked today. Mon went early this A.M. & took Christ & Jack to Decorah to the Dr. They both had casts put on. Leo Matthews went along too & then Mon & Leo took Christ to Plymouth too stay with Toms. Jack rode home with Frank Sullivan. Mon & Leo got back to B.O. just before school was out. I rode to B.O. in A.M. with Howard's. Went up home for dinner & then up to Cecelia Norlie's too Club. Large crowd out. Had a dandy lunch. The kids & I rode home with Mon. He went over to Howards in eve.

Fri. Feb. 8
My 43rd Birthday. Not a very nice day. Mon went up to Gusts in A.M. Arthur & Maxine got home from school about 3. 8th Grade Exams at B.O. today & they got out earlier.

Sat. Feb. 9
Cloudy day again. Thawed quite a little though. We went up home about noon. I went down town awhile in P.M. & then back up home again. The boys came home & did chores & then came back up to mamas for supper & then we spent the eve up town. Got home about 11. Sid Price & Susanne Morrow of Boone were married today.

Sun. Feb. 10
Cloudy day. Thawed some. Gust & Kate were here & spent the day. Gordon H. was here awhile in P.M. too.

Mon. Feb. 11
Cloudy day but not cold. Thawed quite a little. Mon went on the cream route. Leonard Hegdvedt was here late in P.M. too see about buying Queen. He didn't offer enough. Only $140. Mon, Dean & I went over to Howard's in eve. Grace B is there visiting for a few days.

Tues. Feb . 12
Cloudy day again but warm. I washed in A.M. & ironed & did quite a few things in P.M.

Wed. Feb. 13
Quite a warm day. It thawed a lot but the sun didn't shine. Mon took the kids too school in A.M. & then he & I took Jack W. to Decorah too see the Dr. Mary went along too. We got back home about 2. Had a lunch & then went to B.O. after Arthur. Maxine didn't come home. I went up home a few min's. It snowed in eve, but melted quite a lot too.

Thurs. Feb. 14
Rainy, snowy damp day. Not cold though. Mon went with the kids in A.M. & then he, Happy & Ray H. went to LaCrosse. Drove Ray's car. We expected them home about 6 but Mon never got home until 6 Fri. morn. (Mon got a new harness in Lax $41.95). Arthur didn't come home either. He stayed up home & went to Decorah with papa to I.O.O.F. Lodge. Quite a few went down from B.O. They didn't have Lodge just a get together meeting. The Grand Master & Pres. of Ret. Ass. Were there too. Dean had all the chores too do.

Fri. Feb. 15
Not very nice day but thawed quite a little. Mon & I went up town in P.M. & got Arthur. Maxine rode home with Don & Dave. Dean went over to Howards in eve.

Sat. Feb. 16
Cloudy day, but cooler. Mon & the boys put the new harness on Queen & Barney & went over to Dave's. They were fixing the pump over there so Mon & Arthur stayed & helped them. Dean came home. They got home about 2 & then we went to B.O. awhile. I went up home a little while. Corn Hog Sign up day for 1935. Mon signed. Dean stayed up home all nite. Arthur & Maxine walked down to Gilbertson's in eve to a card party. We were invited to Claude Bronner's to a dance but didn't go. Bernard Matthews was buried at the Plymouth Church this A.M. He had been out West & was killed out there & Dan bro't him back for burial.

Sun. Feb. 17
Cloudy, gloomy day. We were alone all day. Dean came home in P.M.

Mon. Feb. 18
Nice bright sun shiny day. Thawed quite a bit. Wind started to blow quite hard in P.M. & it sure did blow for awhile. Mon went on the cram route. Walt came & got the cream in P.M. so Mon didn't have to haul it to B.O.

Tues. Feb. 19
Olive's 41st Birthday. Another sun shiny windy day. Regular March day. I washed & ironed. Regular blizzard for awhile late in P.M. but cleared up & was nice in eve. Dr. K. was here this A.M. & tested our cattle for T.B. again.

Wed. Feb. 20
Nice day. Mon helped saw at Gilbertsons all day. Ed D. was here & spent the eve.

Thurs. Feb. 21
Nice day. Thawed a lot. Got quite a lot cooler late in P.M. tho'. Mon took the kids too school in A.M. & then came back home. Audry & Harold came over here about 9:15 & then Mon took them & Jack to Decorah. I went to B.O. went up home for dinner & then down to Stella R's. to Club. She had a large crowd & a fine lunch. They had a silver shower for Mae W. there also. She got over $8. We started to walk home after school & then the folks came from Decorah so we got a ride the rest of the way.

Fri. Feb. 22
Dandy day. Thawed a lot. Arthur didn't have school today. Tom D. was here awhile at noon. Mon helped Happy saw in P.M. Arthur took me to B.O. about 1 P.M., & then he took Isa to Mabel to have some teeth pulled. The M.E. L. A. S. had an oyster supper at the church from 5 P.M. on. Miriam & I cooked the oysters. After supper they had a Program. It sure was good. They had a good crowd for both supper & program. The folks came up after me in eve. We got home about 10:30. Dr. K. was here this A.M. & we had 3 cows who reacted. Spottie, Mary & Arthur's cow.

Sat. Feb. 23
Nice day. Thawed a lot. The roads are getting muddy. Stub came down this A.M. & hauled our cows to Prosper. We went to B.O. about 11. Went up home for dinner. Dave rode up with us. They had a Corn Hog Meeting in P.M. Dean rode Nell out to Floyd Arnolds this A.M.

Sun. Feb. 24
Nice in A.M. early but started to snow about 10 & we sure had a blizzard the rest of the day & nite. Not cold though in the day time but it got colder at nite. Dean got home about 5 & he was just about frozen, facing the storm all the way home.

Mon. Feb. 25
Another day of the blizzard. Dean didn't have any school & Arthur didn't go. Howard was over awhile in A.M. Wind went down late in P.M. & it was nice but cold.

Tues. Feb. 26
Nice day but cold. Mon went on the cream route. Arthur & Maxine walked to & from school. Dean didn't go. Sure some snow around here.

Wed. Feb. 27
Nice day but cold. Tom D. came about 10 & chopped wood the rest of the day. We had an early dinner & then I went to B.O. with Mon when he took the cream. Had to go the north road. Couldn't get thro' this south way. Went up home a little while. Maxine came home with us but Arthur didn't. The roan cow had a calf this A.M.

Thurs. Feb. 28
Nice day. We washed in A.M. & I ironed part of the clothes in P.M. Arthur came home tonite. Howard's chimney caught fire in the eve and we had some excitement in our neighborhood. We were all over there also Dave & Fred.

Fri. Mar. 1
Beautiful day, so nice & warm. Thawed a lot. The snow plow came thro' about 3 A.M. The kids walked to school. We got the car out about noon & then went to B.O. in P.M. after the kids.

Sat. Mar. 2
Dandy day. Thawed a lot again today. We went up home just before dinner. Olive & Marie & Isa were at mama's in P.M. too. The bell cow had a calf this A.M.

Sun. Mar. 3
Not very nice in A.M. & started to rain in P.M. & kept it up all nite I guess. Tom D. was here a few minutes in P.M. Dean was over to Howards in A.M. Harry Q. was here awhile late in P.M. Everything covered with ice.

Mon. Mar. 4
Nasty day. Rained some, sun shone a little in P.M. The snow settled & melted a lot today. The kids drove the car too school. Mon didn't go on the cream route today. Too slippery for the horses. Dean went over to Howards awhile in eve. Harry Q. was here awhile in P.M.

Tues. Mar. 5
Rather cold in A.M. but warmed up some in P.M. Mon started out on the cream route in A.M. but it was so slippery he couldn't do anything with the barefooted horses so he only went as far as Fred W's & came back. He walked up town about 11 & got home just a few minutes before Arthur. The kids walked to school today.

Wed. Mar. 6
Cold day. Roy Wernett went on the cream route with Mon with their team, which was shod. They only went over west & Walt went down Bluffton way with the truck. Tom D. chopped wood here in P.M. & was here for supper. Dean went over to Howards in eve awhile. Mon walked up town in eve. The B.O.H.S. put on a wrestling & tumbling & ping pong exhibition at the Hall in eve. Arthur lost to Ralphie on time count. I wanted to go but it was too rough to drive the car. Started to snow about 9 & kept it up all nite I guess. Blowed & drifted some along toward morning.

Thurs. Mar. 7
Nice day. Thawed some. Mon got the car out about noon & we went up town. I went up home a little while & then up to Dorothea Reids to Club. She had a big crowd & a dandy lunch. Arthur rode home with us. Tom D. went to town & back with us too. The road isn't any too smooth but the snow helped some.

Fri. Mar. 8
Quite a windy day. S. wind. The sun shone some. I washed & ironed. Arthur drove the car to school. Drifted some in P.M. We went to B.O. in eve to a dance at the Hall. "Old Time." Haugen's played. Just big enough crowd to have a good time. We got home about 11:30. The track was drifted full some places when we went up & was worse when we came home but we got home O.K. Dean stayed up to mama's. Howard was here in A.M. Little daughter born to Mae & Rex "Constance Mae" also a daughter to Arthur Headingtons "Shirley Ann".

Sat. Mar. 9
Regular blizzard at times. Snowed, drifted quite a lot. We didn't do much of anything.

Sun. Mar. 10
Nice day. We were alone all day. Dean came home late in P.M.

Mon. Mar. 11
Nice day. Tom D. was here & cut wood. Mon helped him. The kids walked too school.

Tues. Mar. 12
Nice day. Tom & Mon cut wood today. Arthur drove today. Had a Farm Bureau meeting here today. 9 women here. Had a good dinner & meeting.

Wed. Mar. 13
Nice day. Thawed quite a little but got cooler in late P.M. & froze again. Tom cut wood. Mon went on the cream route. The kids walked too school. Walt R. came down after the cream at supper time & ate supper with us. We went to B.O. in eve. Mon played euchre at Sammie's. I went over to Mae's a little while & then went over to Agnes to wait for the men & Luella was there too & Bertha Mc. & we played cards. Got home about 12.

Thurs. Mar. 14
Beautiful day. Thawed a lot. Mon & Tom butchered a pig in A.M. Tom cut wood in P.M. & Mon did odd jobs. He hauled up one load of wood. The kids drove too school. Rather muddy coming home. Didn't freeze tonite.

Fri. Mar. 15
Beautiful day. Mon & Tom hauled up wood. I washed & had quite a time with the machine.

Sat. Mar. 16
Started raining early in A.M. & turned into snow in A.M. & we sure had a blizzard. We cut up the meat, made sausage & tried out lard. Had quite a day of it. Dean went over to Howard's in P.M. & he & Arthur went over there in eve.

Sun. Mar. 17
Beautiful day. Snowed went pretty fast. We were alone all day. Froze hard tonite.

Mon. Mar. 18
Dandy day but the wind was rather cool. Thawed a lot. We went to B.O. early in A.M. with the team & wagon & then took papa's car & went to Decorah. Took our meat down to get it cured at Holmberg & Erickson's. The boys both went along. Deans teacher was sick so they didn't have school. I took my every day shoes back & got a new pair for them. (They were breaking out.) We got the returns (from Chicago) from our T.B. cattle today. $71.72. The cattle bro't $92.85 in Chicago but it took $20.13 to take care of them. Tom chopped wood here today. There was a shower for Sig & Martha Haugen at the B.O. Hall tonite but the roads were so bad we didn't go. The Jersey cow had a calf today. Didn't freeze tonite.

Tues. Mar. 19
Beautiful day. Thawed a lot. Mon went on the cream route but the roads were so bad he didn't go up to Lovliens & Gilbertson's. He didn't get home until about 6. Tom finished chopping wood here today. Dean went over to Howards awhile in eve.

Wed. Mar. 20
Not very nice day. Rained most of the day. Mon finished gathering cream this A.M. Arthur didn't come home tonite.

Thurs. Mar. 21
Beautiful day. Nice & warm. Mon took the cream to B.O. & I went along. The roads were so bad I walked most of the way. Not bad walking. Went to mama's. Olive was there too. We went to Club at Fern's in P.M. Rode up with Anita. Big crowd & a swell lunch. Arthur came home with us. The roads dried a lot today & Mon & I walked across the field from Harry's. The dark red heifer had a calf today. Pearl & Howard were over & spent the eve.

Fri. Mar. 22
Not very nice day until late in P.M. it brightened up & was very nice. Rained quite hard early in A.M. & quite a bit of thunder & lightning. Dean didn't go to school at all & Arthur didn't go until about 10 it brightened up a little. I washed but didn't put all the clothes out. Pearl was over a minute in eve.

Sat. Mar. 23
Cloudy day. Quite windy. Mon & Arthur hauled up wood all day. Dean went up to Haugen's awhile in P.M. He went over to Howard's in eve. Finished my washing & ironed & did a lot of things.

Sun. Mar. 24
Sun shone part of the day & cloudy part of the day. Howard & Ed were here awhile in A.M. Mon & I were at Howards awhile in P.M. Mrs. Josephine Little was buried at B.O. this P.M.

Mon. Mar. 25
Quite a nice day. Howard helped Mon finished hauling up the wood. They finished about 3 P.M. Howard was over in eve too.

Tues. Mar. 26
Misty & cloudy & windy all A.M. Cleared up & was quite nice in P.M. The wind blew hard. Dried the roads a lot today. Ed D. sawed our wood today. Gordon Baker helped him. Howard, Harry, Happy, Clifford Mc. & Arthur Haugen helped Mon. Pearl came over & helped me. They finished here about 2:30 & went over to Harry's & sawed. Pearl & I went over there & helped Vera get supper. Papa was quite sick last nite & today. I got the first goose egg today.

Wed. Mar. 27
Not very nice in A.M. early but cleared off & was nice the rest of the day. Rather cloudy part of the time late in P.M. Snowed pretty hard for a few minutes in P.M. Wind blew hard all day. Rather cool. Mon went on the cream route today. Walt met him east of Christ's corner with the truck when he got back so he took the cream. They dragged the roads past here today. Papa is about the same.

Thurs. Mar. 28
Nice day. Wind blew hard though. We went up town early in A.M. with the car & spent the day. Stayed up home until about 3 P.M. & then went down to Mae's awhile. The baby is sure nice. Arthur rode home with us. Papa is about the same. The boys went up town a little while in eve. Mon was on the bum. Froze tonite.

Fri. Mar. 29
Nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon split wood most of the day. Arthur drove the car today. Froze tonite. Snowed some.

Sat. Mar. 30
Arthur's 18th Birthday. Nice day but cool. We went to B.O. in A.M. & then to Decorah. Dave went with us. Mon got a couple of teeth pulled. I got a new dress. We got home a little after 4. Dean stayed in Decorah & came home with Fred's. He & Arthur W. went to the show. Dean went over to Howard's in eve & Arthur to B.O. Snow about all gone tonite. Froze again tonite.

Sun. Mar. 31
Cloudy day. Rather cool. We went up home & spent the day. Leonard's 17th Birthday & we had a picnic dinner. Claude's, Lester's & us. Had a good dinner. Arthur took mama, Isa & Marie, Marvin & Loyal to Bluffton in P.M. They were not gone long. Lena & Clifford came & spent the P.M. Sid & Cora Brickner, Dad & Warren were there a few minutes in P.M. too. Papa is much better today. Something was wrong with our car when we got ready to come home so we left it for Roy to fix & drove papa's car home. Froze again tonite.

Mon. Apr. 1
Snowed almost all day. Quite hard in P.M. Everything was white. Pretty wet snow. Rather sloppy. Mon helped Howard in A.M. Arthur drove too school but they walked home & left papa's car up there. Dean was over to Howards in eve.

Tues. Apr. 2
Nice day. Thawed most of the snow away. Mon helped Howard in A.M. The kids walked too school but Roy got the car fixed so Arthur drove it home. We went up home in eve. Had a surprise party up there for Arthur & Leonard. Intended to have it last Fri. nite but on account of papa being sick we couldn't. They were both surprise. The High School were all invited. Mr. Norlie & 3 of the girls didn't come but that was all that were missing. They seemed to have a good time 21 of them. We served sandwiches, potato salad, pickles, jello & cake. We got home about 12:45. Maxine rode home with us. Froze hard tonite.

Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. The kids drove too school. Howard was here awhile in A.M.

Thurs. Apr. 4
Cloudy cool day. The kids drove today. Mon took me up to Alice S's. to Club, with the team & wagon, in P.M. Gladys rode part way with us. Large crowd out & a nice lunch. The kids came home that way so I had a ride home. Gladys & Kate R. rode too. The little red heifer had a calf today. Sprinkled some in eve.

Fri. Apr. 5
Nice day but cold. Mon took a load of wood up home in A.M. & hauled manure when he got home. Pearl & Verna were over in P.M. We went to B.O. in eve to the High School Play's at the Hall. "Suspended Animation" & "When The Wife is Away". Arthur was in the first one. "S.A." They were both just fine. Some of the girls sang "Red Wing" & "When Its Lamp Lighting Time in the Valley". Mr. & Mrs. Norlie played too. It was all just fine. The Hall was full. They took in over $26. Only charged 10 & 15. We got home about 11:30. Maxine didn't come home after school with Arthur.

Nice day but cold. The men fixed fence all day. We went up town in eve. I went up to Myra's to choir practice. We got home about 11.

Nice cold day. Arthur & I went to S.S. & church & then up home for dinner. Mon & Dean didn't go. Pearl & Verna were over & spent the eve.

Dandy nice day. Quite a bit warmer. The kids drove too school. Mon fixed fence & hauled manure.

Tues. Apr. 9
Nice day. I washed & ironed some. The machine bothered so much I was a long time in washing. Christ & Verna were over in A.M. Lizzie was here a few minutes in A.M. & got 10 goose eggs. .50¢.

Wed. Apr. 10
Cloudy cold day. Started to rain about 2:30 & kept it up all nite. A young man came out from "Mac's" too see about the washing machine. He & Mon worked with it & took it all apart. It was just ruined. Some parts were not there so it wasn't oiled as it should have been. He took the engine to Decorah to see what "Mac" would do. Arthur & Maxine got home about 3:30 this P.M. Tests today so they got out earlier. Hod E. brought our new disc out today.

Thurs. Apr. 11
Rained all day. Dave was here in A.M. Howard was here in P.M. Tom D. was here in A.M. also about supper time. Wind blew terribly hard in the nite.

Fri. Apr. 12
Dandy nice bright day. Wind blew hard all day. Warmed up some in P.M. Dave & Jessie Emery (he works for Dave) were here awhile in A.M. & then they came back in P.M. & helped Mon clean oats for a couple of hours. Arthur & Maxine went over to Vern Porter's in eve to a party. Beautiful nite.

Sat. Apr. 13
Nice day. Somewhat warmer. Dave was here in A.M. & got some oats. We went to B.O. about 11. Had dinner up home & then took papa's car & went to Decorah. Papa & Isa went too. Very large crowd in town. We got some of our meat that we had down there curing. Mon, Dean & I went to B.O. in eve. I went up to Myra's to practice. We got home about 11:30.

Sun. Apr. 14
Nice & warm in A.M. but started to cloud up about 3 P.M. & the wind started too blow & it sure did blow too. Dean went over to Howard's awhile in A.M. early. Mon & Arthur went over to Lynch's (south of the Catholic Church) too look at some hogs in A.M. & then we went up to Isa's for dinner. Papa, mama & Claude's were there too. Had a good dinner. We came home about 4. Wind blew hard all nite.

Terrible day. Wind blew just awful & it was so cold. Dust in the air some too. Wind went down a little with the sun & altogether about 12.

Tues. Apr. 16
Beautiful day. I washed by hand. Sure missed my machine. Mon went over to Krumms in A.M. & started plowing in P.M. We went up town awhile in eve.

Wed. Apr. 17
Cloudy, cool day. Audry came over after me early in A.M. & I went over to her house too help her get ready for L.A.S. Harold took us up town at noon. She entertained at the church parlors. She had a good crowd. All of the H.S. kids were there. They had their clean up day today & Mr. Norlie bro't them down there for lunch. She served potato salad, sandwiches, pickles & coffee. I came home with the kids. Little daughter born to Sam & Marie Cassel tonite. Mon disced today.

Thurs. Apr. 18
Cloudy again today. I went up home with the kids this A.M. Arthur & Dean Smith were at mama's for dinner too. I went to Club at Inez Harvey's in P.M. Not such a big crowd out. Had a nice lunch. Had a shower for Dorothea Seelye. Lottie Dawley & Ecil Good were married today.

Fri. Apr. 19
Mama's 64th Birthday. Not very nice in A.M. Cloudy & cool. Cleared off in P.M. & was nice & warm. We had a Farm Bureau meeting at Lizzie's all day. Had a dandy dinner & quite a few there. Little daughter born to Muriel & Dave Thompson.

Beautiful day. More like spring. Quite warm. Arthur finished discing about 4:30. Mon & Dean cleaned grain in A.M. Mon & I went to B.O. after dinner & then to Decorah. Quite a crowd in town. We went up town in eve. Olive & I went over to see Marie & the baby. The baby is sure nice. I went up to Myra's to choir practice. We got home about 12:30.

Easter Sunday. Beautiful day. The boys went fishing as soon as they got their chores done. Mon took me to church & then we went up home for dinner. Claudes were there too. The men went to a ball game in P.M.

Mon. Apr. 22
Nice day. Mon plowed all day. I was out with him most of the A.M. He & I went over to Howard's awhile in eve. Grace B. is there. They are papering & cleaning house.

Tues. Apr. 23
Mon went up to Gust's in A.M. & got the seeder. He got back about 10 & went to seeding. Sprinkled a little in P.M. but cleared off & was nice again.

Wed. Apr. 24
Dean's 15th Birthday. Nice warm day. Pretty windy. Mon seeded today & finished plowing that little piece. I went over to Pearls a few minutes in P.M. & then went to Prosper with her. Pearl, Howard, Grace & Verna were here for supper.

Thurs. Apr. 25
Nice windy day. Mon dragged in A.M. & seeded in P.M. I washed. Went over to Pearls a few minutes in P.M. It clouded up about supper time & looked pretty rainy. Had quite a little thunder & lightning. Had a dandy rain all eve & part of the nite.

Fri. Apr. 26
Dean's last day of school. They didn't have a picnic. She had them clean the yard & cellar & then gave them a weiner & marshmallow roast. Nice day. Mon did a little of everything in A.M. & plowed in P.M. I ironed in A.M. Dean got home at noon. We went to B.O. in eve. The Odd Fellows had a dance & invited the Canton, Harmony & Decorah Lodges. "Puffers" played. Had a good time & a good crowd also good supper. (Mon was reinstated last week). We had a flat tire when we were ready to come home so Mon had to go & get Ern R. up & get a new tire & that all took time so it was 3:30 when we got home. Geo Sullivan died this P.M. late.

Sat. Apr. 27
Nice day. Arthur finished seeding about 10:30 & Mon took the seeder home. Arthur dragged some in P.M. Dave was here awhile in A.M. I scrubbed the floors & that was about all.

Sun. Apr. 28
Rained some in A.M. but cleared off & was nice in P.M. rather cool though. We went up home for dinner. Went to Geo. Sullivans funeral at the M.E. church in P.M. Very large crowd out. Not room in the church for them all. The male quartet sang. About 45 Odd Fellows were there. Mama & I stopped too see Marie & the baby on our way home.

Nice day but pretty windy. Mon finished dragging in A.M. & went to Decorah with Walt R. in P.M. Walt was here for dinner. Arthur went to Decorah in P.M. after his classes & got his hair cut & a tooth pulled. He sure felt pretty bum when he got home & all nite. Mon rode home with him. Froze some tonite.

Tues. Apr. 30
Nice day. Some warmer. Mon plowed all day. I washed & ironed. Dean went fishing in P.M. Arthur went to school but he didn't feel very good. Opening dance at the B.O. Pavilion tonite.

Wed. May 1
Terrible day. Cold. Wind blew hard all day. Rained, snowed hard & hailed. Kept it up all day. Mon went with the kids in A.M. & then he, Arthur & papa went to Decorah. Arthur went back to the dentist & had his mouth fixed up. He don't feel very well. The B.O.H.S. were supposed too go to Hesper tonite with their play & operetta but it was too bad weather & roads. They planned a shower & dance in the B.O. Hall tonite for Lottie & Ecil Good but didn't have that either. Floyd B. & Gladys Hellum were married today.

Thurs. May 2
Cold, windy, rainy day. Didn't go much of anything. The rain turned to sleet in the nite & then to snow. No H.S. today & tomorrow on account of the 8th Grade Exams there. Am sure glad of it on account of Arthurs face & mouth. Didn't get to go too Club at Violets today. Ella Whitney died this A.M.

Fri. May 3
Regular blizzard early in A.M. Snowed quite a lot. Cleared off about noon & was fine the rest of the day. Most of the snow went. Dean went to B.O. in A.M. to take the 7th Grade Exams in Hygiene & Spelling in P.M. Harry Q. was here awhile in A.M. Mon was over to Howards awhile. The little brown heifer had a calf this A.M. Arthur feels some better & helped with the chores tonite.

Sat. May 4
Nice bright day. The roads dried up quite a little. Arthur & Dean went to B.O. in A.M. & then papa, Isa & they went to Decorah. Arthur went back to the dentist. Isa got a permanent. Mon plowed all day. We went up town in eve. I went up to Myra's to choir practice. Quite a crowd in town. We got home about 12:15.

Sun. May 5
Nice warm day. The roads dried up a lot. Mon took me over as far as Krumms & I went to S.S. & Church with them & rode back with them too. The boys went fishing. Mon helped Ray H. move his young cattle down on C. A. Langs. The Catholics from over west put on the play "Eyes of Love" at the B.O. Hall in eve. I sure wanted to go but couldn't. Arthur's face bothered him quite a bit in P.M.

Mon. May 6
Nice day. Mon plowed. I washed & ironed. Arthur went to Decorah in P.M., after his classes, to the dentist.

Tues. May 7
Nice day. Quite warm. Mon plowed. I went with the kids in A.M. to Merle's & then went to Decorah with them to the Farm Bureau Achievement Day at the L.C. Gymn. Quite a crowd out. Had a good crowd & good exhibits. B.O. didn't rank so high this year. I got home about 6. We got our washing machine engine back this P.M.

Wed. May 8
Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & looked quite rainy. Sprinkled some. Cleared off in P.M. late & was nice but quite cold. Pearl, Verna & Gladys B. were over awhile in P.M. Mon plowed today. Dean went up & helped mama all day. He went & came with the kids. Mon & I went to B.O. in eve to a shower for Lottie & Ecil Good at the Hall. Not such a big crowd but we sure had a good time. Got home about 3.

Thurs. May 9
Dandy nice day. Mon plowed. Dean & I tried out the washing machine in A.M. It worked fine. Arthur, Dean & I went to B.O. in eve. I went up to the M.E. Church to a meeting of the Joan of Arc. (Going over the program for Sat.) Some of the mothers of the H.S. met with Mr. Norlie there too & we planned for the Senior Banquet for next week. We got home about 10:30.

Fri. May 10
Dandy nice day. Mon plowed. Dean went with the kids in A.M. and then the whole bunch from B.O. went to Decorah about noon to a county wide play day at Luther College. They got home about 6. We had 4 little pigs this A.M.

Sat. May 11
Cold, rainy nasty day until late in P.M. it cleared up & was quite nice. We went up town in P.M. The Joan of Arc entertained the Mothers of the community with a program & lunch. Quite a few out for such a bad day. We served potato salad, sandwiches, pickles, devils food & angel food cake, ice cream & coffee. Had a nice program too. Vera & I sang "My Mother's Bible". We got home about 6. Roads are sure muddy.

Sun. May 12
Mother's Day. Not very nice day either. Cloudy & cold & rather rainy at times. We went up home & spent the day. Claude's & Lester's were there too. Had a picnic dinner & it was good. Marvins birthday too.

Mon. May 13
Nice day but windy & cold. Mon plowed. I went out in the field where he was plowing in P.M. Dean was out there too, filling in ditches.

Tues. May 14
Nice day but windy & cold again. Mon plowed. I washed & ironed. We went up town awhile in eve.

Nice cold day again. Mon finished plowing about 10 & then he disced in P.M.

Thurs. May 16
Papa's 71st Birthday. Rather cool & cloudy in A.M. but warmed up quite a lot in P.M. Mon disced today. I walked over to Inez W's. at noon & went to Club at Miriam's with her. Gladys, Elsie & Alice went too. Quite a crowd out & a nice lunch. I rode home with the kids. Mon went to Lodge in eve. Vera, Geo. & Junior were down in eve. Vera & I were practicing. Dean was over to Wernetts in P.M.

Fri. May 17
Dandy nice day. Warmest we have had. Mon disced all day. Dad P. was here awhile in P.M. He had a new Pontiac. Swell car. Arthur got home about 3 and then he & I got ready & went back to B.O. to the Junior -Senior Banquet at the Lutheran Church. The mothers of the school furnished the food. Lena P. Inez W., Maurice Knox & I waited on tables. We served. "Fruit Cocktail", riced potatoes & gravey, smothered chicken, peas, banana salad, rolls, pickles, ice cream, angel food & coffee. There were 33 at the banquet. They had a nice program too. Arthur gave the address of welcome. We got home a little after 10. Maxine went with us.

Sat. May 18
Quite nice in A.M. & until about 3 P.M. it got colder. Clouded up some late in P.M. Arthur came down with the measles this A.M. but he isn't sick. He sure is broke out though. Mon disced in A.M. Dean dragged in P.M. Mon & I cleaned the outside cellar way & the cellar & Mon & Arthur hauled posts out in the east field - getting ready to make fence. Mon, Dean & I went up town in eve. Old Time Dance at the Pavilion. Gossman's played. They were sure good. Had a good time. Got home about 2.

Sun. May 19
Rather cloudy most of the time & rather cool. We were alone all day. Mon went fishing in P.M. & got 12. Arthur feels pretty good. Mon took me to B.O. in eve to the "Baccalaureate Service" at the M.E. church. Rev. Prust spoke. Stopped at Harry's a minute on our way home. Got home about 9:30.

Nice day. Mon disced. Arthur didn't go too school. We went up town awhile in eve.

Tues. May 21
Nice day. Mon disced. Lester came down & dug & set posts all day. Dean helped him. Arthur went too school today. Dad P. came up in P.M. & stayed for supper. Looked pretty rainy late in P.M. but didn't rain. Got much colder in eve. Mon & I went up to Gust's awhile in eve. I washed & ironed.

Wed. May 22
Cold & rainy all A.M. Didn't rain hard but just a nasty drizzly rain. Cleared off & was nice in P.M. Mon, Dean & I went with the kids in A.M. & then we went to Decorah. Got home about 1. Dean dragged in P.M. Mon & I went up after the kids. We went to B.O. in eve to a show at the Hall. Lewis performers. They were sure good.

Thurs. May 23
Nice bright day. The wind was rather cold but warmed up some in P.M. Mon finished discing in A.M. & after dinner went over to Gust's after the planter. He got started planting at 3:15. Dean dragged in P.M. The B.O.H.S. had their picnic at Decorah today. Mon went to Lodge in eve. We stayed at home.

Fri. May 24
Pretty warm day. Mon planted corn. Dean dragged. Last day of school at B.O. The kids got home early. Arthur & I went to B.O. in eve to the Commencement exercises at the M.E. Church. (Lizzie & Maxine went too). Large crowd out. Prof. L. A. Moe of Luther spoke. He was just fine. Bertha McCauley was the only graduate. We got home about 10:45. We had 6 more little pigs today.

Sat. May 25
Mighty warm day. Mon planted corn & the boys dragged. Dad P. was up awhile in P.M. I went to B.O. in P.M. with Lizzie & Maxine. Mae W. had a shower for Dorothea Reid at her house. Large crowd out & she sure got nice things. Mon, Dean & I went to B.O. in eve. We went up to the Pavilion about 10:30. Hove's Harmonizers played. They were good. Large crowd out. Got home about 2:(?35?).

Sun. May 26
Cloudy in A.M. & started to rain about 11:30 & kept it up off & on the rest of the day & eve. Quite a bit of thunder & lightning in eve. Mon went over to Gusts in A.M. & then on to B.O. He wasn't gone long though. The boys went fishing but didn't get any.

Mon. May 27
Nice warm day. Lester came down in A.M. & the men all worked at the fence in A.M. Mon finished planting in P.M. & Arthur dragged. Pearl & Verna were over in P.M. Mag had a calf this A.M.

Tues. May 28
Nice day. I washed in A.M. Mon & the boys worked at odd jobs all A.M. & the boys in P.M. too. Mon & I went to Decorah in P.M. Mama went along too. We got the reset of our meat that was down there getting cured. We went to the Greenhouse & got cabbage & tomato plants too. He & I went up town a little while in eve. Loyal walked down here in A.M.

Wed. May 29
Dandy nice day. Mon & I dug up strawberry plants in A.M. & then Arthur plowed the garden & got it ready to plant. I ironed in A.M. We planted potatoes in P.M. Mon & I set out our cabbage & tomato plants in eve. Rev. & Mrs. Prust were down & spent the eve.

Thurs. May 30
Nice day. I did a little of everything. Lester came down & helped fence again today. Harlan came with him & the dog bit him. Arthur (?blind?) plowed corn in P.M. Dad P., Uncle Jim, Sid & his wife, Chas. & Helen were here a little while in P.M. Loyal went home with his dad tonite. We went up town. Got a sack of Larabee's Best Flour. $2.20. I went up to the Pavilion. Kelly's played. Mon went to Lodge. Got home about 12.

Fri. May 31
Nice day. Lester was here fixing fence. Mon helped him in A.M. & helped me make garden in P.M. Arthur plowed corn. Arthur Walters was here awhile in eve. Arthur's old sow had 10 pigs tonite.

Sat. June 1
Sprinkled off & on all A.M. & rained hard all P.M. & eve. Dean dragged in A.M. Arthur, Mon & I set out over 160 strawberry plants in A.M. Mon & Dean went to B.O. in eve.

Sun. June 2
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Clouded up about 5 & we sure did get a rain about 6. Just poured down & hailed quite a lot too. We went up home & spent the day. Claude's were there too. (Leonard came down with the measles in P.M. Isa & her boys were there awhile in P.M. Loyal has the measles. Howard was over a few minutes in eve. We had 3 more little pigs this A.M.

Mon. June 3
Dandy nice day. Arthur & I washed in A.M. & I ironed in P.M. Walt R. got stuck over in Fred W's. road about noon & he came over here to get help. Mon took him over to Gilbert's & got Gilbert to come with the tractor & pull him out. Walt was here for dinner. Arthur & Dean went up to mama's in P.M.

Tues. June 4
Cold, windy day. We planted some cukes, sweet corn & early potatoes in A.M. but it was plenty wet. Dad P. was up a little while in A.M. One of the officers & a couple of the C.C.C. boys from Cresco were here in P.M. looking over the farm too see about the control of soil erosion. Mon, Dean & I went over to Lovlien's a little while late in P.M. Ethel Masters & Henry Masteller were married today.

Wed. June 5
Cool & windy again. Mon went up & met the mail man in A.M. & then he went over to Harry's a few minutes. He & the boys fixed fence in P.M. The boys did in A.M.

Thurs. June 6
Nice day but cold. Mon & I planted musk & watermelons in A.M. the boys fixed fence. Dad P. was up in P.M. & he & the boys planted pop corn. An officer & 1 boy were over again this P.M. from Cresco for a little while. Mon went to Lodge in eve. It froze tonite.

Fri. June 7
Nice day. Much warmer. Mon & the boys fixed fence here at the house in A.M. & then we were all out & fixed fence next to Harry in P.M. Mon & Harry had a few words about Harry's bull. Howard & Pearl were over awhile in eve. Merlin C. was here all day.

Sat. June 8
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Arthur went up town in A.M. too bring papa & mama down here but they drove their own car down. Papa & Arthur went fishing in P.M. They went home about 4. We went up town in eve. I went to choir practice at the church & then went up to the Pavilion. Gossman's played. Large crowd out. Got home about 2.

Sun. June 9
Very nice in A.M. Clouded up in P.M. & rained hard about 6:30 & on. Tom D. was here for breakfast & stayed awhile. Dad P., Uncle Jim, Aunt Mina & Nancy were here in P.M. a little while. Dean went fishing in A.M. & didn't get back until about 4 & Arthur went about noon. Didn't get anything. Mon & I went over to Gust's about 1:30 but no one was at home. Dean came home with the measles.

Mon. June 10
Dandy nice day. Mon & Arthur went & put up our new mail box in A.M. & then went over to Gust's awhile. They did a little of everything in P.M. Dean was in bed almost all day. He doesn't feel bad only so tired. A Mrs. Mullaney came here (getting subscribers for the Journal) just as we finished supper & she had a lunch & stayed a while. Little daughter born to Josephine & Albert Hruska.

Tues. June 11
Dandy nice day. Pretty warm. The men plowed corn. I washed & ironed. Loyal walked down here early this A.M. Harry Cox was here in A.M. selling Zanol stuff. I worked in the garden in eve.

Wed. June 12
Hot day again. Clouded up about 5 & looked as if we were going too have a hard storm but it just sprinkled. The men plowed corn. Mon broke his plow & went to B.O. & got it fixed in P.M. but plowed when he got back. The boys & I finished planting potatoes & planted some more beans. Dean & Loyal went over to Dave's a few minutes in eve. Arthur & I were just going too town when Harold, Audry & Delores came. Mon went with Happy (to work over on Christ's) & Audry went to town with us. I went to choir practice. We got home about 9:30. The men didn't come until about 10:30. It rained hard at B.O. this P.M.

Thurs. June 13
Dandy nice day until late in P.M. it clouded up & looked pretty rainy but it didn't rain much. Arthur finished plowing our corn over & Mon planted soybeans for Happy in A.M. We went to the Joan of Arc picnic in Louie Underbakke's grove (across from Chas Porters). Quite a few there & quite a few that were not. Had a good dinner & time (10 gal. of ice cream). Loyal went up home & stayed & then he came back with us in P.M. Mon went to Lodge in eve.

Fri. June 14
Rained hard early in A.M. They did a little of everything here today. Happy came over in P.M. & bro't some more soybeans.

Sat. June 15
Nice in A.M. early but clouded up & rained hard about 10. Cleared off about noon & was nice the rest of the day. Mon went early too plant soybeans for Happy & then when it looked so rainy he came home too see about the little pigs in the woods. Brought them & their mother to the house 10 of them. Happy & Bobbie came over here when it rained & were here for dinner. They went back to work after dinner. Mon went & planted & Happy dragged. Audry & Dolores were here a few minutes after dinner. Arthur tried to plow corn this A.M. but it was too wet. We went up town in eve. I went to choir practice at Prust's & then went up to the Pavilion. Got home about 2. Loyal went home tonite.

Sun. June 16
Looked rainy all day. But just sprinkled a little about noon. Quite a warm day. Got cooler in eve. We went up town about 9:30. I went to church. Children's Day. Quite a crowd out & a fine program. The choir sang 3 songs. We were up home for dinner. Marie was there too. She sang at the exercises in A.M. Mon & the boys went to a kitten ball game between the B.O. & Canton Odd Fellows in A.M. Canton won. We came home about 4:30.

Mon. June 17
Cold windy day. Mon & Arthur plowed corn in A.M. & Mon & Dean in P.M. I worked in the garden all day. Arthur helped me in P.M.

Tues. June 18
Cold, windy, rainy day. Rained all day & some times pretty bad. We didn't do much of anything. Rained all nite too I guess.

Wed. June 19
Cool day. Rained off & on all day. Quite nice later in P.M. Dean & I were over to Howard's in eve awhile.

Thurs. June 20
Nice day. I washed. Dad P. came up about 10 A.M. & worked at the popcorn & melons. We went to B.O. in P.M. to sign up the Corn Hog Contract. I went up home a little while. Mon went to Lodge in eve. We had 10 more little pigs this A.M. but she laid on one & killed it.

Fri. June 21
Sprinkled off & on all day. Rather cold too. We didn't do much of anything. Mon & I planted in some melons in P.M.

Sat. June 22
Quite a nice day. Much warmer. Dad P. came up about 9 A.M. & he & Arthur cleaned out the melons & popcorn again. Arthur went to Decorah with him about 2 P.M. & got his hair cut. He rode back to B.O. with Walt & didn't come home for chores. Mon & Dean plowed corn all day. We went up town in eve. Didn't go to the Dance. Got home about 12. Arthur came home with us.

Sun. June 23
Dandy nice day. We were down to Claude's & spent the day. Papa & mama & Lesters were there too. Had all the strawberries we could eat & then some. Sure lots of berries.

Mon. June 24
Nice day but pretty windy. I worked in the garden most of the day. Planted some lettuce & cukes. Mon & Arthur plowed corn. Loyal came down this A.M. Rained hard in the nite.

Tues. June 25
Not very nice in A.M. Quite cloudy but cleared up in P.M. & was very nice. Pretty warm. Mon took mama, Isa, Harlan & I down to Claude's about 9:30 & then he went to Decorah with Ray H. We picked berries until 4:30. Sure picked a lot of dandy nice berries. Leonard took mama, Isa & Harlan home. Mon came for me about 6. We had to go up town before we came home. He got 113 little chickens ($7.50) at Matters. I bro't home about 14 qts. of berries.

Wed. June 26
Not so nice in A.M. Sprinkled off & on & about noon it rained quite hard. Nice in P.M. Plenty warm. The boys went up to Gust's in A.M. & got the spreader & then hauled out manure until noon. They went down to the river in P.M. & got a little jag of sand. I canned 4 qts. of sauce & 6 pts. of preserves of my berries & then we ate a lot. Cleaned the brooder house & did a lot of things.

Thurs. June 27
Nice day. I washed in A.M. The men hauled manure. Mon mowed alfalfa from 10 until noon. Arthur, Dean & I went to B.O. in P.M. & then went to Decorah. Isa went along. I got another hundred little chickens. Got home about 3. Loyal & Henry dragged roads & plowed corn. Mon & Arthur went to B.O. in eve.

Fri. June 28
Not so nice in A.M. Sprinkled off & on & some times quite hard. Mon & Arthur went out to plow corn but didn't stay long. We picked 2 qts. of strawberries in A.M. & had shortcake for dinner. Cleared off & was nice in P.M. Arthur mowed weeds after dinner awhile. Harold & Dorothy S. came just after dinner & stayed until about 3:30. Mon & Arthur went out & plowed corn after they went home. Ruth, Dorothy & Rupert G. were here a few minutes in eve.

Sat. June 29
Dandy nice day. Pretty warm. Mon & Arthur plowed corn in A.M. & in P.M. they raked, bunched & finished cutting the alfalfa. Dad P. was up awhile in A.M. Dean helped him then Dean plowed corn in P.M. We went to B.O. in eve. Loyal went home. Went up to the Pavilion a minute after Dean. Arthur didn't come home with us. He went to Spring Grove with a bunch of kids. We got home about 12.

Sun. June 30
Pretty warm day. Sun shone most of the day but it sprinkled some in P.M. Looked like a bad storm in eve but we didn't get any of it. Mon & the boys took some corn over to Lovlien's early in A.M. & had it cracked for the baby chicks. We went over to Ernie W's. a few minutes in P.M. There was a swarm of bees lit on a post up at the corner & we went & told him about them. He came & got them in eve.

Mon. July 1
Pretty hot day. Arthur started working for Harold Seelye today. Mon took him up there about 5 A.M. Mon & Dean plowed corn in A.M. & then we put up 2 loads of alfalfa in P.M. Rained very hard in eve. Jim Burns bro't the new roofing for the house up this eve.

Tues. July 2
Pretty hot day. Mon was over to Howard's awhile in A.M. & then we went up to mamas & picked the berries. Got quite a few. I canned 4 qts. & we had a big dish full too eat besides. We had dinner up there & then came home. Loyal came home with us. Mon was over to Dave's in P.M. & then Dave was over here.

Wed. July 3
Pretty hot day. Mon & Dean did odd jobs in A.M. & then we put up 2 loads of hay in P.M. I washed in A.M. & ironed in P.M. Mr. Dahl from Decorah was up & put part of the roof on the house today. We went up town in eve. I got my hair cut. Loyal went home. We got home about 11.

Thurs. July 4
Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & rained some. Not enough to make it muddy tho'. We put up hay in A.M. & didn't do much of anything in P.M. Harold took Arthur home about 6. We went to B.O. to the dance in eve. Large crowd. Gossman's played. Had a good time. Got home about 2. Marion rode as far as Ole's with us.

Fri. July 5
Rained hard early in A.M. & sure looked bad. Cleared off & was nice the rest of the day until late in P.M. it clouded up & sure looked like a bad storm here but we didn't get only a sprinkle. Had a cyclone over east. It hit at Bill Thompson's & Ed Knoke's & some other places. We watched it. Didn't look very nice. Arthur went back to work this A.M. early, in the rain. We put up our last load of alfalfa this P.M.

Sat. July 6
Nice day. The men plowed corn. Dad P., Warren & Uncle Will were here a minute in P.M. We went up town awhile in eve. Arthur came home with us.

Sun. July 7
Nice day. Somewhat cooler. Mon & I went to Dad P's. & spent the day. Had a Yager family reunion. Not all of the folks there. Just 24. Had a dandy picnic dinner. We got home about 6. Lizzie & Maxine rode down to Bernice's with us.

Mon. July 8
Nice day. The men plowed corn. Mon took Arthur back to work early in A.M. I washed in A.M. & worked in the garden in P.M. Mr. Dahl was here & worked at the roof today. Gust & Kate were down & spent the eve. Howard was here awhile.

Tues. July 9
Rather warm day. The men plowed corn. I ironed & did a lot of things. Mr. Dahl was here & finished the roof today. Dad P. & Stanley were here awhile in P.M. We worked in the garden in eve.

Wed. July 10
Hot day. Mon & Dean plowed corn. I worked in the garden some. Margaret Ward was here in A.M. & picked gooseberries.

Thurs. July 11
Hot day. The men plowed corn in A.M. We went to B.O. in P.M. Agnes had Club at the Lutheran church parlors. Quite a few there. Dandy lunch. Mon went to Lodge in eve. Arthur was down a few minutes in eve. Loyal walked down in A.M. Looked pretty rainy in P.M. but just sprinkled a little.

Fri. July 12
Cooler day. Quite nice. Mon & the boys worked in the garden in A.M. & we went to Decorah in P.M. Lester went along too. We got some oats hulled for the chickens.

Sat. July 13
Dandy nice day. Mon helped Gust in A.M. The boys worked some in the garden & they all worked some in P.M. We went to B.O. in eve. Took Marion home. Arthur didn't come home with us. Frank G. bro't him. We got home about 12:30.

Sun. July 14
Very nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & it sure did rain & blow for a little while. Had 3 or 4 showers in P.M. & then it cleared up & was a swell eve. Papa & mama, Lester's & Claude's came down to pick gooseberries. Had a dandy picnic dinner. Didn't pick berries long until it looked so rainy & the folks & Lester's went home. Claude, Henry, Marion, Marvin & Loyal went to Bluffton to a ball game. Arthur went down there with Frank Gates. Dean, Harlan & Leonard went swimming. They got back before the rain, but the rest from Bluffton didn't until during the rain. It didn't rain at Bluffton. Claude's went home about 4. We got a few berries.

Mon. July 15
Nice day. Not so warm. Mon, Loyal & I took mama, Isa & Harlan to Decorah in A.M. Got home about noon. Dad P. was here in A.M. too & worked in his garden until about 3 P.M. Mon & Dean plowed corn in P.M. We were all over to Howard's in eve until after 10. Mon & Dean were helping him get his hay poles up but they couldn't make it. A total eclipse of the moon from 9 on. It was about 10:30 when it was entirely covered. Sure was a beautiful eve.

Tues. July 16
Nice day. Mon & Dean plowed corn. They helped Howard from noon until about 2 P.M. getting his hay poles up. I washed & ironed. We went up town in eve. Stopped at Harold S's. a minute on our way up.

Wed. July 17
Nice day. We sold 2 steers & Harold R. hauled them about 8:30 A.M. Mon went then & didn't get back until noon. Dean plowed corn & Mon plowed in P.M. too. Margaret W. & Ruth G. were here in P.M. & picked gooseberries. Pearl & Verna were over in P.M. awhile. Mon was over to Howards in eve awhile.

Thurs. July 18
Mighty hot day. Isa, Lester & Harlan came down in A.M. & picked gooseberries. They were here for dinner. Mon mowed hay. Dean finished plowing corn about 10:30. I was over to Dave's awhile in A.M. helping. Audry, Bernice & Lizzie had a shower for Gladys at Daves in P.M. Quite a few there. Had a nice lunch. She got lots of nice presents. Mon bought Dave's hayloader this A.M. We went to Mabel in eve too get some repairs for it. Leonard went with us from B.O. We got home about 10:30.

Fri. July 19
Hot day again. Lester was down & helped hay today. I drove the horse on the hay fork. Pearl was over in A.M. & picked gooseberries & again in P.M. & did her washing with the machine.

Sat. July 20
Pretty hot day. Clouded up about noon & looked pretty rainy but it only sprinkled here. Rained hard at Haugens tho'. Lester helped hay. They took 2 loads of hay up to the folks in P.M. Loyal went along & stayed up. It was about 6:30 when Mon & Dean got home from up there so it was rather late when we got the chores done & got up town. Went up to the Pavilion awhile & listened to the music. I didn't get out of the car. Beardmore's played. We got home about 1:30. Cooled off quite a little. Arthur came home & went to bed. Didn't go up town.

Sun. July 21
Hot day. We went up home for dinner. Looked rainy most of the day, but didn't rain until about 4 P.M. We got as far as Harry's before it started to rain but it rained hard from there on home. Didn't rain long though.

Mon. July 22
Looked rainy all day but didn't rain much here. Rained some in P.M. but no much. Cleared off & was a nice eve. Mon took Arthur to his work early in A.M. I washed in A.M. Mon & Dean did a little of everything. We went to Decorah in P.M. a little while. Mon & Dean both got new every day shoes. It sure did rain while we were down there & the most of the way home.

Tues. July 23
Rained hard early in A.M. but was nice the rest of the day. Mon went over to Gilbert's in A.M. He mowed some in P.M. We went up town awhile in eve.

Wed. July 24
Pretty warm day. Lester & Loyal came down about 11 to hay. Mon mowed some in A.M. & some in P.M. They got Howard's hay poles & put them up in P.M. Just got 1 load of hay up though. Arthur was home a few minutes in eve.

Thurs. July 25
Pretty hot day. Lester & Loyal came down early in A.M. to help hay. Looked rainy all day. Had a shower about 11 that drove them in from the field. They just got 2 loads in, in P.M. I went to Club at Olive's with Dorothy S. (Alice was along too). Not so many out. Had a good lunch. Sure did pour down & rain while we were there. Roads were nice & muddy to come home on. We came home by Harold's & then he came along down here with Dorothy to bring me home. Loyal stayed tonite.

Fri. July 26
Pretty warm day. Looked quite rainy sometimes but it didn't rain. Pearl & I washed in A.M. she was here for dinner & until after 2. Mon went with Gilbert to Harmony in A.M. after repairs for the binder & then he was over there until about 3 he came home & then he & the boys went back to help Gilbert some more. They got home about 5. I ironed in P.M. The white cow had a calf today.

Sat. July 27
Pretty hot day. Clouded up late in P.M. & sure looked bad. Roared & banged around for such a long time. Rained for a couple of hours or more. Lester came down & hayed today. He didn't go home until about 8. We didn't go up town. The Club was supposed to have an ice cream social but don't know if they did or not. Sold about 5 gal. Little daughter born to Floyd & Gladys A. today.

Sun. July 28
Pretty hot day. Harold & Dorothy bro't Arthur home early in A.M. Mon, Arthur & I went to B.O. in A.M. Loyal went along & went home. I went to church. We came home & had a lunch & then the boys went riding with Leonard B. & Arthur W. & then after they got back they went over to Arthur W's. & went swimming. Jake Dinger died tonite.

Mon. July 29
Pretty warm day. Mon went over to Gilbert's in A.M. & got the binder & then cut grain the rest of the day. He took Arthur back to Harold's early in A.M. I washed & ironed.

Tues. July 30
Pretty hot day. Mon cut grain. We went up town awhile in eve. Had a hard rain in eve. Very bad lightning & thunder. Struck quite a few places. They tested our cattle for T.B. this A.M.

Wed. July 31
Pretty hot day. Lester came down & shocked today. Harlan came along. I went to Jake Dinger's funeral at the M.E. Church at B.O. in P.M. with Dave's. Dad P. was here awhile in P.M. but I didn't see him.

Thurs. Aug. 1
Mighty hot day. Looked rainy all day. Sprinkled off & on all day. Rained pretty hard in the nite & most of the time from midnite on the rest of the nite. Lester & Loyal came down in A.M. Lester worked & hoed in the melons & hauled manure in A.M. It was too wet to cut grain. The worked at the grain in P.M. but it was plenty wet. Pearl was over in A.M. & washed. Verna cut her foot on the axe. Ed D. was here for supper & went up town with us. Arthur came home at supper time & went to town with us. He started going into the I.O.O.F. tonite. Vera, George & the kids were here a few minutes. I went up to mama's & stayed. Clara & Lavonne were up there too. It rained so hard we waited for it to let up so we didn't get home until about 2. Water was up pretty high.

Fri. Aug. 2
Nice day & pretty warm. We didn't do much of anything. Dean went to B.O. a few minutes in A.M. with Howard & Leonard. Arthur went back to Harold's early in A.M. They were here too see about our cattle early in A.M. but we had no reacters. Rained hard in the nite.

Sat. Aug. 3
Dandy nice day. Mon & Dean finished cutting & shocking the oats in P.M. Arthur came home early & went to town with us. He is thro' at Harold's. Vera & I went up to the Lutheran church to practice. Went up to the Pavilion. Kelly's played. Quite a crowd. We got home about 1. Aurthur Haugen & Ruby Lindelien were married today.

Sun. Aug. 4
Nice day. Mon & I went up home & spent the day. Art Walters came over here & they all went around the country. Claude's were up home too. He & Mon & Marion went to the Ball Game in P.M. Mon took me up town in eve. They had a Program at the Lutheran Church & Vera & I sang "In The Garden". Large crowd out & a good program. I didn't stay for lunch tho'. Arthur went up home & stayed all nite. We got home about 10:30.

Mon. Aug. 5
Looked pretty rainy early in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day. They did a little of everything here today. I went over to Pearl's awhile in P.M. Harold & Bobbie L. were here awhile in eve but we were all in bed except Mon. Looked pretty rainy in eve. Sprinkled a little. Wind blew terribly hard in the nite. Papa bro't Arthur home tonite. He had been up where papa was working to spend the day. Little son born to Dorothea & Gordon R. early this A.M. William Ernest.

Tues. Aug. 6
Nice day. A little cooler. I washed & ironed. Mon & the boys went over to Happy early in A.M. too help him gather up his sheep. The dogs got after them & had them all over the woods. They all came back about noon except Arthur. He helped Happy all day. Mon went back in P.M. & helped thresh. Arthur went up town in eve.

Wed. Aug. 7
Didn't do much of anything in A.M. Too wet. Arthur went threshing at Lovlien's in P.M. Mon cut timothy & Dean shocked. Mon went over to Don's awhile in eve.

Thurs. Aug. 8
Pretty warm day. Arthur threshed at L's. until about 2 P.M. they broke down so he came home & helped shock. Mon & the boys took me to Club at noon. Vera, Junior & Ruby went along too. Gladys had Club in the M.E. church basement. Not so many out too busy a time. Had a good lunch. Stopped too see Dorothea & the baby on my way home. I walked most of the way home. Caught a ride a little ways with Maxine, Lizzie & Dolores. We went up town in eve. The men went to Lodge & I went up to mama's. We got home about 1.

Pretty warm. Mon & the boys finished cutting & shocking the timothy about 5 P.M.

Sat. Aug. 10
Mighty hot day. Mon went over to Lovlien's early in A.M. & helped all day fixing Ed's threshing rig. He didn't get home until after 7. Mon, Dean, Loyal & I went to B.O. in eve. Loyal went home. Went up to the Pavilion a few minutes & listened to the music. "Whoopie Nite". We got home about 1.

Sun. Aug. 11
Mighty hot windy day. The boys went over to Gilbert's early in A.M. & got Lawrence Morgan (he works for Gilbert) & then they rode around most of the day. They were here for dinner but that was all. Mon & I went over to Dave's in eve. Little son born to Cecelia & Joseph Norlie this P.M. & a daughter to Pearl & Howard in eve. Cooled off a lot in the nite.

Mon. Aug. 12
Quite a cool day, but quite windy. Mon & Arthur threshed at Gilbertson's. I washed & ironed. Dean went up to Haugen's in P.M. I went over to Pearls a little while. The baby is sure nice. Grace & Verna were here awhile in A.M. Dad P. was here a few minutes in P.M. He bro't up some dishes.

Tues. Aug. 13
Dandy day. Plenty warm. Mon & Arthur threshed at Gilbertson's in A.M. & Dawley's in P.M. We went up town a few minutes in eve. I was over to Pearl's in P.M.

Wed. Aug. 14
Nice day. Mon & Arthur threshed at Dawley's. They moved the threshing machine over here in eve. I was over to Pearl's awhile in P.M. We went up town a minute in eve. Ed D. stayed here all nite. Little son born to Inez & Warren Harvey this A.M.

Thurs. Aug. 15
Pretty warm day. We threshed in A.M. Mama & papa were down & helped. Got thro' about 11. We had 504 bu. Went to Howard's to thresh in P.M. We all helped. Mon & Arthur went to Lodge in eve.

Fri. Aug. 16
Pretty hot day. Mon threshed at Dave's & Wernett's. Arthur, Dean, mama & I went to Decorah. Got 3 sacks of oats hulled for the chickens. Went over to Pearls a little while after we got home.

Sat. Aug. 17
Hot day. The boys took a load of straw up to the folks. Claude & Leonard were here a while in P.M. They borrowed some oats. I went over to Pearls a minute in P.M. We went up town in eve. Lawrence M. came over & went with us. Got home about 11:30.

Sun. Aug. 18
Pretty warm day. Sprinkled a little in A.M. early but was nice the rest of the day. Papa came down early in A.M. & got Arthur & then they went to Harmony to an I.O.O.F. Picnic. Vera, Geo & Junior were here awhile in A.M. Ruth & Francis came about 10. We were sure surprised. We went up to Niagara Cave in P.M. They all went in but me. Quite a few up there. Went from there to Harmony & saw the folks. Came on back to B.O. & waited at mama's until they came & Arthur rode home with us. Came very near getting smashed into by Harry at the corner. Too close a call for me. Francis & Ruth went home soon after we got back from up there. Looked pretty rainy in eve but didn't rain.

Mon. Aug. 19
Pretty hot day. Dad P. came up in A.M. & stayed most of the day. Ed D. was here for dinner. Harold Cox was here in P.M. & ground some oats & cracked some corn. I went over to Pearls in P.M. It rained mighty hard in the nite.

Tues. Aug. 20
Nice cool day. Didn't do much of anything in A.M. Dad P. came up in P.M. The boys painted in P.M. some. I went over to Pearl's awhile in P.M. We went to B.O. in eve & then Lester, Isa, Mon & I went down to Breezy Hill Pavilion to hear "Happy Jack & His Old Timers" but they didn't come. We came back to B.O. & stopped at the Pavilion a little while. Very large crowd there. We got home about 12. Loyal stayed up home all nite.

Wed. Aug. 21
Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed some. Mon went up to Geo's to thresh in P.M. The boys painted.

Thurs. Aug. 22
Nice day. Mon threshed at Geo's in A.M. & Christ's in P.M. Dad P. was up most of the day. The boys hauled manure & painted. I went over to Pearls in P.M. awhile. Loyal came back this A.M. We went up town in eve. The men went to Lodge & I went up to mama's. Clare, LaVonne & Meadie were there too.

Fri. Aug. 23
Nice day. Mon threshed at Christ's in A.M. He & Loyal went to Bluffton a little while in P.M. Gladys came over in A.M. & did Pearl's washing. We had our first young chicken for supper tonite.

Sat. Aug. 24
Nice day. Dad was here most of the day. Mon helped Jack W. thresh over at his own place in P.M. Arthur mowed the alfalfa in P.M. & Dean painted. We went up town in eve. Lawrence went with us & then came back here & stayed all nite. Mon & I went up to the Pavilion & listened to the music a little while.

Sun. Aug. 25
Sprinkled some in A.M. but cleared off & was nice in P.M. Dean went over to Gilbert's with Lawrence awhile & then Lawrence came back here until eve. Mon & I went over to Lovlien's in P.M. & stayed for supper. Mon & Mr. L. went fishing in P.M. Someone at the river gave Mon a carp that weighed almost 5 lbs. Dean went home with Lawrence.

Mon. Aug. 26
Nice day but cool. Dean came home about 10 & painted until noon. Arthur painted in A.M. too. Mon hauled manure. They put up alfalfa in P.M. Dad came up in P.M. & stayed for supper. Little daughter born to Paul & Florence Ward.

Tues. Aug. 27
Nice day, but the wind & dust blew terribly. I washed & ironed. Dad P. was here in P.M. They finished the alfalfa today. We went up town a little while in eve.

Wed. Aug. 28
Nice day but terribly cold. Mon & I went to B.O. about 10 & got Lester & Isa & the boys & went to Cresco to the Fair. Pretty good Fair but we nearly froze. Didn't see so many we knew. Stayed for the evening Fair too. Their free acts were sure good. Got home about 11:30.

Thurs. Aug. 29
Not such a nice day. Sprinkled in P.M. The boys & Frank G., Leonard Mc. & Lawrence M. went to Cresco to the Fair. They stayed out for the eve too. Papa came down here to work today. Fixing up the old barn. Loyal came along. Dad P. was here too.

Fri. Aug. 30
Nice day but cool. They all worked on the barn again today. Arthur & I went up home in P.M. & made kraut.

Sat. Aug. 31
Nice cool day. They worked at the barn again today. Put in the foundations. Mon, Arthur & I went to B.O. in eve. Loyal & Dean stayed at home. I went over to Pearls awhile in P.M.

Sun. Sept. 1
Cloudy, cool day. Mon & Dean took Loyal home early in A.M. & then Mon & I went down on Jane's fishing. Got 15 small ones & 5 big ones. Ray Mc. came over early in A.M. & he & Dean were all over the country I guess.

Mon. Sept. 2
Cloudy, cool day. The boys went & registered this A.M. & were home in P.M. Arthur has the same teachers & Dean has Beatrice Anderson. Gust was here for dinner. Papa was here all day & Dad P. a few minutes in P.M. Mon & I went over to the Community Hall, to their annual Labor Day Picnic, for supper. Sure had a swell feed & a big crowd. Went from there to B.O. too hear Louie's Accordian Band & they were sure good. Only 5 or 6 couples up there tho'. Got home about 1.

Tues. Sept. 3
Nice day but cold. Papa was here all day & Dad P. awhile in P.M. I didn't feel very well most of the day & nite. Rained in the nite some.

Wed. Sept. 4
Nice day. Papa was here & Dad P. came up in P.M. I washed. Didn't feel very good today, but some better than yesterday.

Thurs. Sept. 5
Nice day, some warmer. Papa & Dad P. were here all day. Dad P. took me to Club at Dorothy S's. Quite a few out & a swell lunch. I rode home with the kids. We went up town in eve. Dean went home with papa & then came back with us. The men went to Lodge & I went up home. Isa & Lester were here for supper, also Mr. Lydon & Mr. Snyder from near Cresco.

Fri. Sept. 6
Nice day. Warmest we have had for some time. Papa was here working again today. Mr. L. & Mr. S. were here for breakfast. Rained very hard in the nite.

Sat. Sept. 7
Rather a cloudy, cool, misty day but cleared up late in P.M. Papa came down this A.M. & finished up his work about noon. We went to B.O. in eve. Lawrence M. went too & dale Arnold came just before we went so he went too. Went up to the Pavilion to the Whoopie Dance & it sure was a noisy bunch & a big crowd. They all seemed to have a good time too. Beardmore's played. They were good. We got home about 2.

Sun. Sept. 8
Nice warm day. The B.O., Decorah, Canton & Harmony Odd Fellows had a picnic at the Pavilion. Had a big crowd & a big dinner. Ruth & Francis were up. We stayed at the Pavilion awhile in P.M. & then went down to mama's. The men played Kitten Ball down on Ern's. Padden's & us stayed at mama's for supper.

Nice day. Dad P. was up part of the day. Mon & him painted.

Nice warm day. I washed. Dad P. was up part of the day. He & Mon painted in A.M. Mon took Gilbert's binder home in P.M.

Nice warm day. Mon went with the kids in A.M. & got Uncle Marion & mama. Mama & I canned apples. Mon took them home in P.M. when he went after the kids. Ted Kimber & Bessie Saunders (Beatrice Bergman's sister) were married today.

Dandy nice day. I canned some tomatoes & apples. Mon painted. I went over to Pearl's in P.M. The boys & I went up town in eve. Arthur went to Lodge. I went up home. Clare & LaVonne were there too.

Not very nice in A.M. but cleared off & was nice in P.M. Mon painted. Loyal came home from school with Arthur.

Pretty hot day. Dean painted & Mon & Arthur fixed fence. Dad P. was here awhile in A.M. We went to B.O. in eve. Went to the Pavilion to the Dance. Gossman's played. Good music & good time. Quite a few there. We came home about 1.

Dandy day. Dean went rambling. Mon, Arthur & I went & got (?Harry?) Lovlien & then we went to Emmet Knox's to a picnic. Arthur stayed at B.O. Only Fred Walter, Will Mullaney & us there. Had a nice dinner & a good visit. Played cards in P.M. Got home about 6. Dorothy Murdock & Bjorne Quam were married today.

Mon. Sept. 16
Looked rainy off & on all day. Sprinkled some. Quite warm. Donlan's were here at noon & got elderberries & brot us a bu. of apples. Anita & Grace were here in P.M. & got elderberries too. I canned tomatoes. Mon did a little of everything. Terrence McConnel & Blanche (?Plageman?) were married today.

Tues. Sept. 17
Pretty warm day. Dad P. came up in A.M. & stayed until after dinner. He didn't feel very well. Mon painted & did other odd jobs.

Wed. Sept. 18
Pretty warm day. Mama & papa came down in A.M. & spent the day. Mama & I canned. Mon painted in A.M. & he & papa went fishing in P.M. Didn't have any luck though. Rained some in the nite. Looked pretty bad, but we didn't get only some thunder & lightning & a little rain.

Thurs. Sept. 19
Dandy nice day. I washed in A.M. & went to Club at Anita's in P.M. with Dorothy & Harold S. He went to the Sale at Louie U's. Quite a few out to Club and she sure had a good lunch. I rode home from B.O. with the kids. We went to B.O. in eve. The men went to Lodge & I went up to mama's.

Fri. Sept. 20
Our 19th Wedding Anniversary. Rather cloudy day. Looked pretty rainy some times but only sprinkled a little in A.M. Papa came down in A.M. & he & Mon gathered seed corn. They went up to Ole's to a Soil Terracing Demonstration in P.M. Walt R. was here for dinner.

Sat. Sept. 21
Dandy day. Mon went on the cream route for Walt from B.O., Dean went along with him. They didn't get back until about 6. Arthur & I did a little of everything. The B.O.H.S. had a Food Sale at Cecil's in P.M. & eve. They sold over $11 worth of food. We went up town. I went up to the Pavilion. Quite a crowd there. Louie's Accordian Band played. They are sure good. Got home about 1.

Dandy day. Claudes were up for dinner. Dad P. is sick so Mon, Arthur & I went to see him in P.M. after Claude's went home. We didn't get home until about 7. Dave was here in A.M. & Howard & Elmer G. in eve.

Mon. Sept. 23
Pretty warm day. Looked rather rainy early in A.M. & sprinkled some but cleared off & was a nice day. Mon threshed at Fred Walters.

Tues. Sept. 24
Hot day & terribly windy. The boys didn't either one have to go to school. Teachers Institute. Mon & I helped thresh at Jack W's. We went up town in eve. I went up home. The men stayed down town & listened to the Baer -Louis fight. Louis won.

Wed. Sept. 25
Windy & hot in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & it sure did rain. Mon threshed at Haugen's in A.M. We rode to B.O. in P.M. with Pearl & then took our car & went to Decorah too see Dad P. He is in the Hospital but is no worse. It rained hard while we were coming home. Arthur drove Pearl's car home for her. It was pretty muddy. We got our first Corn-Hog check today. $26.47.

Thurs. Sept. 26
Dandy nice day but cold. Mon & I went with the kids in A.M. & then we took papa to Decorah. He got hurt yesterday & we took him to see the Dr. Isa went along. We went down to the Hospital to see Dad. He looked better today. Warren came this A.M. We got back to B.O. about 1 & had dinner there & then came home. We drove papa's car home & left our car for the kids. Mon & I went up town in eve. Mon went to Lodge. I went up to mama's. Froze quite a bit tonite.

Fri. Sept. 27
Cold day but nice. Warmed up some in P.M. Mon & I went up to Gust's in A.M. early to thresh. Dorothy S. & Ruby R. helped too. Had a good time. We got home about 2. I helped Mon get the corn binder around, and then I canned 15 qts. of tomatoes. The B.O.H.S. kids played Basket Ball with the Ft. kids in P.M. so it was about 7 when Arthur got home.

Nice day. Mon cut corn for Howard. The boys did odd jobs in A.M. & picked a jag of corn in P.M. I washed, ironed, scrubbed & did a lot of things. We went up town in eve. Arthur took papa's car home. I went up to the Pavilion. Kelly's played. We got home about .1

Nice day but cold. Uncle Aaron came early in A.M. & was here for dinner. We went down to see Dad P. in P.M. & he rode down to Uncle Geo's & then he came back with us when we came back. (He is working for Dave). Dad is better I think.

Terribly windy day & cool. Mon cut corn for Howard. I was over to Pearl's awhile in P.M.

Nice day but cool. Mon cut corn. Warren was here a few minutes in P.M. We went up town a few minutes in eve. I went up home.

Wed. Oct. 2
Rather rainy in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day but cold & windy. Mon cut corn in A.M. & picked a jag in P.M. Papa came down a few minutes in P.M. Mon & I left here about 4. Papa rode over to the corner with us. He left his car for Arthur too use. We stopped in Decorah & had a lunch & then at the Hospital too see Dad P. Got down to Ruth & Frances about 8. Oscar was there when we got there but he didn't stay long. We stayed there all nite.

Thurs. Oct. 3
Nice day but cold & windy. We got up at 3:30 & did the chores & had breakfast & then went to Waterloo to the Dairy Cattle Congress. Left Frankville at 5:30 & got in to Waterloo at 7:30. Stopped at the Garage, where Herb Padden works, a few minutes & then out to the Congress. Sure did take in the sights. We took our dinner & supper & Herb & Neva came out & ate with us & were with us from noon until we came home. Left us & were with us from noon until we came home. Left there about 10:30 & got to Frankville about 1. It sure was cold. We started out for home then & our car froze up & we had to go back to Ruth's & thaw it out. Got home about 3. Ready for bed too. Froze very hard tonite.

Fri. Oct. 4
Nice day. Somewhat warmer but still plenty cool. Mon cut corn. Lester & Roy Wernett shocked corn & dug potatoes today. Froze hard again tonite.

Sat. Oct. 5
Nice cool day again. Papa came down in A.M. & helped until about 3. They dug potatoes, shocked corn & also got a jag of corn for the hogs. We went up town in eve. Didn't go up to the Pavilion. Had an oyster stew when we got home.

Sun. Oct. 6
Nice day. Quite a little warmer. We went up home in A.M. too help the folks celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary. Claude's & Lester's were there & we had a picnic dinner. Sure had a good dinner too. The men listened to the World's Series Ball Game & then we went down to the Hospital to see Dad P. Chas & Helen were there when we got there. Dad looks much better. We got home about 6.

Nice day, but cool. I washed & ironed. Henry finished digging potatoes. Mon, Dean & I went up town in eve. Mon went to Lodge. I went up home.

Fri. Oct. 11
Not very nice in A.M. Looked pretty rainy. Cleared off in P.M. & was very nice. Mama & papa came down early in A.M. Dean didn't go to school. Mon went to Gilbert's to thresh in A.M. They came here in P.M. to thresh our timothy. (Ed Dawley's rig). Started threshing at 2:30 & finished about 5. Had 38 sacks but a good lot of weed seed. Pearl came over in P.M. & helped too. B.O.H.S. had a Basket Ball Game at B.O. in P.M. with Ossian. B.O. boys won but the girls lost. The Hospital called in while we were eating supper that Dad P. was not as well so Mon & I went down as soon as we could. He sure don't look very good or feel so either. Mrs. Miller & Mr. & Mrs. Johnson were there a few minutes too. We got home about 9:30.

Sat. Oct. 12
Not such a nice day. Cloudy & misty until late in P.M. it cleared up & was very nice. Mon & the boys got a load of corn in A.M. & then we all went to Decorah in P.M. Mon & I went down to the Hospital to see Dad. He is a little better today. We got home about 6 & did up the chores & went to B.O. All but Arthur. I went up to the Pavilion. Another "Whoopie Nite". Large crowd & a good time. "Louie's Accordian Band" played. We got home about 1:30.

Sun. Oct. 13
Beautiful day. Just like summer. The boys went hunting in A.M. & got 1 squirrel. Mon, Arthur & I went too see Dad P. in P.M. He is some better. We stopped at Johnson a few minutes on our way home. Mrs. Miller was there & we had ice cream & cookies. We came home the River road. The trees are just beautiful now. Such colors. Dean was over to Dave's in P.M. He got 1 squirrel in P.M. so we had 2 for supper. Mon didn't feel a bit well when we got home, nor all nite. He didn't help with the chores any. Tonsilitis I guess.

Mon. Oct. 14
Beautiful day. Mon doesn't feel a bit well. Arthur stayed home from school & helped "Happy" & Elmer thresh their beans on Christ's place.

Tues. Oct. 15
Another dandy day. Mon is a little better. Arthur helped Elmer thresh beans today (at Elmers). Uncle Aaron was here awhile in A.M. The boys & I went up town awhile in eve. Went up home a few minutes.

Wed. Oct. 16
Nice warm day. Quite windy. Looked quite rainy in P.M. & sure did rain about 6:45. Just poured & kept it up most of the nite I guess. Mon feels some better today. We didn't do much of anything. Arthur went back too school. The B.O. H.S. initiated their Freshmen tonite but it rained so hard Maxine & Arthur didn't go. Shower for Nettie & Bjorne Quam tonite but we didn't go.

Thurs. Oct. 17
Cloudy & cool day. Cleared off late in P.M. & was sure nice. We sold the old sows to Wickett this A.M. & they came here after them about 11. They got 5 over to Fred Walters & then took the 6 from here. Mon went with the truck & I went with Fred's. The truck run in the ditch up at the corner & the men had to work so hard to get it out & then all the way to the paving it was sure hard going, so terribly muddy. It took us 2 hrs. to get to the paving. I rode on to Prosper with them & went to Club at Florence Baker's. Florence sure had a swell lunch. About 18 members there. Some didn't come on account of the scarlet fever scare. I rode back to B.O. with Mrs. W. & then came home with the kids. Joseph Anderson bro't Beatrice too school this A.M. & he smashed a wheel so he came up here to telephone to his folks to bring him another one. 4 sows weighed 1720 @ $7.50 per cwt. $129.00 2 sows weighed 780 @ $8.25 per cwt. - $64.35 total $193.35.

Fri. Oct. 18
Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Mon picked a jag of corn. He feels pretty good. The B.O.H.S. went to Ridgeway to watch a game this P.M. They were supposed to play at Ossian but the court was too wet. We went to B.O. in eve to a Reception for Ruby & Arthur Haugen. Quite a few out. Had a good time. Got home about 2.

Sat. Oct. 19
Dandy day. Pretty warm. We went to B.O. about 9:30 & got papa & then went to Decorah. Went down to the Hospital too see Dad P. He sure looks better & feels better. Chas. was there too. We stopped at Dad P's. a while on our way home & talked to Chas. We bought a Coronado Radio of Otto Koenig when we came home & bro't it home & set it up so we sure had music all eve. Came in just fine.

Dandy day. Dean went hunting all day. Sid & Sue, Stanley & Warren were here a few minute sin A.M. They were all here to see Dad. Arthur doesn't feel very well so Mon took him down to see Dr. Fritchen about 5. They didn't get back until after 7. Dean had most of the chores done when they got home.

Cloudy, gloomy day. Arthur doesn't feel very good. Dean didn't go to school. He & Mon picked a jag of corn in A.M. & then he went hunting in P.M. & Mon went to B.O.

Tues. Oct. 22
Snowed quite hard early in A.M. the ground was white soon melted though. Misty, damp, cool day. Dean went to school. Arthur feels better today. We cleaned the brooder house in A.M. I went with Mon in P.M. over east & helped him saw & split some posts.

Dandy nice day. Arthur feels better today. Mon worked at the fence between us & Dave's almost all day. I washed & ironed.

Thurs. Oct. 24
Nice day. Lester was down & helped Mon with the fence today. Mon, Dean & I went to B.O. in eve. Mon went to Lodge & I went up home. Got home about 12. Arthur is better today.

Fri. Oct. 25
Nice day. Papa & Lester were both here today helping with the fence. Arthur was out & helped some. Mon, Dean & I went to B.O. in eve. The Odd Fellows had a dance at the Hall. Sure had a good crowd & a good time. Ray Halverson's Orchestra played. We got home about 2.

Sat. Oct. 26
Rather cloudy day. The men got a load of corn in A.M. & then we went to Decorah in P.M. Isa went with us. Large crowd in town. Arthur is better. We went back to Dr. F. today & got his certificate of health. Had a flat tire when we came to come home so that made us late leaving town. Stopped a few minutes at Dad P's. He is home now. Looks pretty good but so thin. Loyal came home with us & stayed all nite.

Sun. Oct. 27
Looked rainy all day. Mon was over to Howard's in A.M. Mama & papa came just as we were going up there so we stayed here. Papa, Mon, Arthur & Loyal went fishing & got 49 fish. Loyal went home with the folks.

Mon. Oct. 28
Nice day. Lester was down in A.M. & helped finish the fence. Arthur went back to school today. Some excitement around this neighborhood today. A deer was around here most of the A.M. but we didn't get to see it. Don B. saw it up here by our plum trees & then it went over the fence & in with the cattle but no one knows where from there. Dave was here a while in P.M. Arthur went to a Birthday Party for Dean Smith in eve.

Tues. Oct. 29
Dandy nice day but pretty windy. Mon started plowing today but it is pretty dry. I went over to Pearls in P.M. It rained some in the nite. Quite a bit of thunder & lightning.

Wed. Oct. 30
Nasty day. Rained off & on all day & sometimes quite hard. Quite a bit of thunder & lightning too. Aunt Mina called about 8:15 that they had found Dad P. down by the Stockyards, soaked to the hide & out of his head. They took him to Uncle Jim's & wanted Mon to come down so he went with the kids & then he & papa went to Decorah. They took Dad back to the Hospital. Chas & Helen came to stay a day or two. Mon came home with the kids. Rained most of the nite I guess.

Thurs. Oct. 31
Not very nice day. Sprinkled off & on all day & rained mighty hard for awhile in A.M. Dean doesn't have school any more this week. His teacher is at Des Moines at a Teachers Meeting. Mon & Dean picked corn for awhile in A.M. Bob L. was here in P.M Uncle Marion came about 3:30 & stayed all nite. Froze hard tonite.

Fri. Nov. 1
Beautiful day. I washed & ironed. Mon & Uncle Marion walked to B.O. after dinner & Mon went on to Decorah too see his Dad. He is no better. Told Mon to go home & stay there.

Sat. Nov. 2
Cloudy, damp cool day. Mon & the boys picked corn in A.M. & Mon, Dean & I went to Decorah in P.M. Stopped at Mrs. Miller's & hadn't been there long until Chas, Warren, Stanley, Katherine & Ruth Ellen came. We went down town awhile & then stopped at Mrs. M's. on our way home again. Didn't go down to the Hospital. Dad is just as sullen as ever today. We went to B.O. in eve to a Shower at the Hall for Mr. & Mrs. Clem Dinger. Large crowd out. Had a good time. Haugen's played. Got home about 2:20. Rained from then on the rest of the nite I guess.

Rainy, nasty day. Rained quite hard sometimes. Dave was here awhile in P.M. Got colder late in P.M.

Not very nice day. Cold & cloudy. Mon went with the kids & went to Decorah. Stanley & Warren took Dad P. to Iowa City this A.M. but they had gone before Mon got there. He got home about noon & then we went on up town after the kids. Went up home a few minutes. Pretty cold tonite. Froze pretty hard.

Tues. Nov. 5
Snowed most of the day. Pretty cold & windy too. Mon went over to Howard's early in A.M. Richard B. came home with him & started husking corn for us. The B.O.H.S. played their last game of Basket Ball this P.M. with Ft. Atkinson the boys won but the girls lost.

Wed. Nov. 6
Quite a nice day. Thawed a lot, snow all went. Richard husked corn today & stayed here tonite.

Thurs. Nov. 7
Dandy nice day. I washed & ironed. Richard's arm was so lame & sore he couldn't husk corn today. We went to B.O. in eve. I went up home. Olive was there too. Got home about 10:30. Mon plowed.

Fri. Nov. 8
Dandy day. Quite warm. Mon got a jag of corn in A.M. Arthur Bremseth was here in A.M. & got what few old hens we had. Got $7.63 for them. Richard was here a few minutes in P.M. & he & Howard were here awhile in eve.

Sat. Nov. 9
Quite nice for awhile in A.M. but clouded up later in the day & got quite nasty. Mon sold the roan cow & a couple of young cattle to Lloyd K. & Harold R. hauled them about 8 A.M. Mon, Arthur & I went to Decorah in P.M. Mon got a new overcoat & I got a coat. Stopped at Mrs. Miller's a minute on our way home. Stanley & Warren were there. Roy Webb & Howard McCabe rode out from Decorah with us. I stopped at B.O. & helped cook oysters for the Joan of Arc Oyster supper. Large crowd out for the misty, nasty nite. Took in over $46. Elsie, Olive & I fixed oysters. Mon & the boys came up town in eve. We got home about 10:45. Richard husked corn in P.M.

Sun. Nov. 10
Not very nice day. Pretty cool in A.M. & got colder & windy later in P.M. Mon & I went to Decorah about 8 A.M. planning to go to Dubuque with Warren & Stanley but Stanley's car broke before we got out of Decorah so we couldn't go. Got back home here about 11. Ray Mc. Was here all day & Dale A. & Walter W. were here in P.M.

Mon. Nov. 11
Cold, windy day. Richard husked corn today. I washed some. We listened to the radio most of the day. A stratosphere balloon went up at Rapids City S. Dak. about 7:30 A.M. & they were broadcasting from the balloon off & on all day. Heard them talk from an airship out in Cal. & from London to the balloon. It was sure interesting. The men went up 74000 ft. & landed at Whitelake S. Dak. At 4:10 P.M., 55º outside the balloon while up in the air. Highest anyone has ever gone.

Tues. Nov. 12
Dandy day. Much warmer. I washed windows on the outside & got the storm windows washed & on today. Richard didn't husk today.

Wed. Nov. 13
Nice day. Richard husked today. Mon went to B.O. with the kids in A.M. & helped shingle the I.O.O.F. Hall on the north side. Chas. called me about 11 A.M. that Dad P. passed away about 10 A.M. I went over to Pearls awhile in A.M. She had Lutheran L.A.S. Mon & I went down home about 6:30. Chas & Helen were there when we got there & Sid & Sue got there about 10 & Stanley, Katherine & Warren about 11. We got home about 12:45. Dad's body would get into Decorah about 1:45.

Thurs. Nov. 14
Rather cloudy, cool day. The boys went to school in A.M. but came home at noon & went to Decorah with us in P.M. Went up to Mrs. Miller's a few minutes & then down town. Dean got a new jacket, pants, cap & shirt & I got a new hat. Mon & Arthur got some new things too. Uncle Aaron came over in eve & went up town with us. I went up home. Got home about 10. Richard & Doris husked corn today. I sold my geese this noon. 7 weighed 94 lbs. at 14¢ per lb. bro't $13.16.

Fri. Nov. 15
Cold, cloudy misty day. We went up town about 11 & then papa went with us to Decorah to Dad P's. funeral. We had lunch down town & then went up to Mrs. Miller's. Aunt Etta & Uncle Charlie were there. We went to the Funeral Home & then to the Congregational Church. Rev. Buehling spoke. Very large crowd out. Mighty cold at the cemetry. Ruth & Francis were there & got to speak to them a minute. Went back up to the house & stayed awhile. Albert, Florence, Aunt Alice, Norris, Flossie & Nancy were there too awhile. We got home about 5:30. Richard & Doris husked corn in P.M.

Sat. Nov. 16
Cool, cloudy day again. Mon & I went to Decorah about 9 A.M. The boys met with the lawyer today & tried to settle up some business. We had lunch at Mrs. Miller's. Didn't get home until about 6. We went over to Florence & Alberts to supper. The boys & girls were all there too. Had a dandy supper. Uncle Aaron rode over to the four corners with us when we went. The boys went to B.O. with Richard & then we went up after them from Albert's. Got home about 11:30. Richard finished husking here today.

Sun. Nov. 17
Cloudy, cool day. We went down to Claudes for dinner, but Mon's tooth ached so bad he walked home & the boys & I got home about 4:30.

Cloudy, cool day. Misted & rained in P.M. & eve off & on. Didn't do much of anything. Snowed in the nite.

Tues. Nov. 19
Cloudy, cool day. Didn't do much of anything. Uncle Aaron came home with the kids from school.

Wed. Nov. 20
Dandy nice day until late in P.M. it clouded up again & snowed in eve. Regular blizzard at times. I washed. Uncle Aaron & Mon fixed fence in A.M. & walked up town in P.M. & rode home with the kids. Mon & Arthur went to Decorah about 6:30 P.M. to a Banquet at the L.C. Gymn. Mr. Lovlien & Harold went along with them. They got home about 12. Got pretty cold in the nite.

Thurs. Nov. 21
Regular blizzard for awhile in A.M. but was nice & bright all day but rather cold. Uncle A. & Mon walked up to Haugens in A.M. Uncle A. went out looking for pheasants in P.M. Open season on them until the 27th. Got a letter from Warren today.

Fri. Nov. 22
Dandy nice day. Arthur got home at noon. They had tests & finished at noon. He & Uncle A. went hunting in P.M. Dean got home about 3 P.M. They had a program at our school in eve & we all went but Uncle A., Maxine went with us. They sure had a fine program & a big crowd. Got home about 10:15.

Nice day, but cool. Arthur went to B.O. about 9 & took papa to Decorah. The folks finished husking our corn today. Arthur got home about 4. We went up town in eve. I went up to Myra's to practice. We got home about 11:30.

Cloudy, cool day. Didn't do much of anything. Dean went hunting. Uncle A. went over to Aunt Lissa's.

Mon. Nov. 25
Dandy nice day. Quite warm. Mon went with the kids in A.M. & stayed up town all day. Got the car fixed.

Tues. Nov. 26
Dark, cloudy day. Everything covered with frost. Rained hard in eve all nite I guess. Uncle Marion came over in A.M. & helped Mon butcher a hog. He stayed all nite. Lizzie & I walked up to Gladys in A.M. to a Farm Bureau Meeting. 13 women there. Had a good meeting & a swell dinner. They sure have a grand new house. We rode down to Whalen's corner with Happy & then walked the rest of the way.

Rainy nasty day. Didn't do much of anything. Howard & Richard were over in A.M. & Richard stayed for dinner. Froze hard in the nite.

Cold day. Regular blizzard off & on all day. Not such a nice Thanksgiving Day. We went up home & spent the day. Marion rode to B.O. with us & then went home. Claude's, Lester's, Dell's, Aunt Lissa & Aunt Till were there too. Sure had a good dinner & a good time. Richard was over in A.M. awhile.

Fri. Nov. 29
Quite a nice day. Much warmer, thawed some. I didn't feel very good. We didn't do much of anything. The boys didn't have school today. Mon went to Decorah in P.M. with Howard.

Sat. Nov. 30
Nice in A.M. but got colder in P.M. I washed, ironed & scrubbed. Mon & the boys went down the south road & helped Ole & Charlie out. They tipped over with the car. Had to get the team & haul him out. We went up town in eve. I went up to Myra's to practice. We got home about 10:30.

Sun. Dec. 1
Rather blizzardy off & on all day. Claudes were here & spent the day. Had a good visit. Jim Matthews was here awhile in P.M.

Mon. Dec. 2
Nice bright day. Mon & I worked with the meat a good share of the day. Dean went over to Howard's in eve & Arthur went to B.O. & then skating down at Roy Halse's. Happy was here awhile in P.M. Floyd & Richard were here awhile in eve.

Tues. Dec. 3
Quite a nice day. Didn't do much of anything.

Wed. Dec. 4
Not too bad a day. Did quite a few things. Mon went to B.O. in eve with Floyd & Richard.

Thurs. Dec. 5
Cloudy, misty cool day. I went to B.O. with the kids in A.M. Went up to mama's & then she & I went down to the Hall about 11 to the M.E.L.A.S. Sale & Dinner. I helped wait on table. Sure a big crowd. Run out of potatoes & meat. Lizzie rode home from B.O. with us. Mon & Arthur went to Lodge in eve. Dean went over to Howards.

Fri. Dec. 6
Rained almost all day & mighty slippery early in A.M. Arthur walked too school. Mon went over to Lovliens awhile & when he got back he went to B.O. after Arthur. Lizzie was here awhile in A.M.

Sat. Dec. 7
Damp, dark day. Not cold. Didn't do much of anything. Mon went out to the paving about 1:30 too meet Warren & Stanley but they couldn't get away to come up there. He waited for them until about 5 & then came home. They did the chores early & we went up home & met the boys there. The I.O.O.F. had a meeting & big feed tonite. The Grand Sec. & a Past G.M. were there & presented B.O. with a Silver Loving Cup for getting the most new members in a given time. Some members down from Canton & from Decorah. Mama & I cooked oysters & coffee & got the supper ready. The I.O.O.F. boys helped too. Sure had a good feed. We got home about 2. The roads are sure terrible. Claude Headington died tonite.

Sun. Dec. 8
Cloudy day again. Didn't do much of anything. Dean went hunting. He & Howard got a jack rabbit & Howard gave it to Dean.

Mon. Dec. 9
Rather nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & got much colder late in P.M. & eve. The wind blew quite hard too. Arthur walked too school. Mon drove the team to B.O. & helped Lester's move. Howard & Pearl went to Cresco to Dora Miller's funeral & Verna stayed with me. She was as good as could be. Dean went over to Dave's in eve.

Tues. Dec. 10
Rather cold day. Arthur walked too school. Mon went over to Lovlien's in A.M.

Wed. Dec. 11
Rather cold windy day. Arthur walked again today. I washed. Mon went away in A.M. & didn't get back until Arthur did. Pearl was here a few minutes late in P.M. Ted Emmons had a Farm Sale today & the Joan of Arc served lunch. I didn't get there.

Thurs. Dec. 12
Not so cold today, but cloudy. Arthur walked again. Mon took me to Club at Florence E's. & then he went up town. Quite a few out too Club. Election of Officers. Anita B., Pres, Gerthrude E. V. Pres., Inez W. Sec., Dorothea R. Asst. Sec. & Maragret Ward Treas. Had a dandy lunch. Rode to B.O. with Anita & then home with Mon & the kids. Went to B.O. in eve. Mon & Arthur to Lodge & I up to mama's.

Fri. Dec. 13
Not very nice day. Cloudy. I ironed & did a little of everything. Loyal came down here after school. Some of the B.O.H.S. kids went down to Freeport & went thro' the poor house & then to Decorah & thro' the Court House & Jail. Arthur didn't get home until about 5:30.

Sat. Dec. 14
Snowed off & on all day. Not cold. The men picked up a jag of corn in A.M. & hauled wood across the road. Didn't do much of anything in P.M.

Sun. Dec. 15
Not very nice day. Dean went after a Xmas tree for the school house in A.M. & didn't get back until about 3 P.M. Loyal went home about 2. Dean & Arthur went over to Howard's in eve. We got our first pullet egg today.

Mon. Dec. 16
Not such a bad day but no sun shine. Didn't do much of anything. Arthur drove too school today. Dave was here in A.M. Ed D. was here for dinner.

Tues. Dec. 17
Dandy nice day. The sun shone all day. Thawed quite a little. I went with the kids in A.M. & spent the day up home. Mon came up town during the day & rode home with us. The boys went up town in eve. Mon & I went over to Geo. Wernetts & spent the eve. They have just moved back from California & Don & Lizzie Brown have gone back to Alaska & Geo's are going to live there.

Wed. Dec. 18
Cloudy day. Didn't do much of anything. Dave was over in A.M. Pearl was here awhile in A.M. Ed D. was here for supper.

Thurs. Dec. 19
Mighty cold day. Pretty windy. Arthur walked too school & stayed up home all nite. Mon went over to Willard Chase's & got Ed's saw rig about noon. Richard B. was here in P.M.

Fri. Dec. 20
Bright day. Quite cold in A.M. but warmed up some in P.M. I walked up to the school house in P.M. Beatrice had a short program & a tree. Quite a few there. Both boys schools were out today for Xmas Vacation.

Sat. Dec. 21
Snowed off & on all day & most of the nite I guess. Uncle Geo. walked up early in A.M. & stayed until about 3 P.M. Ed D. sawed some wood for us today. Uncle Geo & Richard helped. Mon, Dean & I went to B.O. in eve. I went up to Myra's to practice. Our car froze up coming home (Mon didn't drain it). Christ & John Updahl rode home with us. Got home about 12:30.

Sun. Dec. 22
Snowed most of the day. Very light snow. Arthur walked up home in A.M. & came home about 4 P.M. Dean went over to Howard's in P.M.

Mon. Dec. 23
Not very nice day. Snowed off & one all day. I washed. Mon went over to Howard's & Dave's in A.M. Dean went to Decorah about noon with Howard.

Tues. Dec. 24
Not such a bad day. Started to snow about 4 P.M. Mon helped Howard saw wood in P.M. The boys went hunting in P.M. Rex Ward brot us a barrell of kerosene in A.M. (But bro't the wrong kind).

Wed. Dec. 25
Regular blizzard early in A.M. but cleared off & was nice in P.M., only quite cold. We were going up home but too much snow so we went over to Howard & spent the day. Mike's, Fred's & Harry's were there also. Had a dandy good dinner & good time. Came home & did chores & then went back & spent the eve. Got home about 10:30.

Thurs. Dec. 26
Cloudy cold day. Manford Wickett came down in A.M. & bought our hogs & they hauled them in P.M. Mon rode up with the truck & came back with Fred. He sold some too. Our 26 weighed 6070 lbs. & got 9.30 per cwt. bringing us $561.50. (3.00 trucking out). Mon & Arthur walked to Lodge in eve.

Fri. Dec. 27
Not such a cold day but cloudy. Dean walked too B.O. in A.M. Went up home. Rex was down in A.M. & changed the kerosene. Mon, Arthur & I went to Decorah a few minutes in P.M. with Howard & Richard. Geo Wernett was here awhile in A.M.

Sat. Dec. 28
Not such a nice day. Richard chopped wood part of the day. We went to B.O. in P.M. I went up home awhile. Dean came home with us.

Sun. Dec. 29
Dandy nice day. Arthur went up & got papa & mama in A.M. & took them home again about 4.

Mon. Dec. 30
Not very nice day. Didn't do much of anything.

Tues. Dec. 31
Cloudy day again. Snowed some. The men fixed a fence around the straw pile in A.M. Mon went up to Gordon Price's in P.M. He has moved up on Grandma Price's place. Geo. G. moved too town. Mon & the boys went to B.O. awhile in eve.
