Sat. Jan. 1
Nice day but pretty bad south wind. We went to Claude's & spent the day. Lester's rode with us from Floyds. Papa & mama were there too. Had a swell dinner & a good time. Mon went over to Howards a few minutes in eve.

Mon. Jan. 2
Beautiful day. Papa came down & they husked corn. Johnnie was here for dinner. Dean's school started today. Johnnie came over in eve & went to B.O. with us. The men folks went to their club & I went up home. Olive & her kiddies & Wilma & hers were there too. Grandma Stead was buried at B.O. this P.M.

Tues. Jan. 3
Beautiful day. Papa & Lester were here chopping today. Mon hauled up wood. Arthur hauled a load of posts in P.M. I washed & ironed. Chas. Burgess slid in the ditch up at the corner this P.M. & Arthur hauled him out & then he came down here & Arthur helped him put his chains on. May & Lucile came in here while they were putting the chains on.

Wed. Jan. 4
Not very nice in A.M. but cleared off & was a dandy day. Papa & Lester chopped again today. Mon hauled wood all day. Arthur went to B.O. in A.M. & got his hair cut & then came back & visited school in P.M.

Thurs. Jan. 5
Beautiful day. Papa & Lester were here again today. Uncle Aaron came at noon & wanted papa to file some saws for him so he chopped for papa. Mon hauled wood. Pearl was over a minute in P.M. Howard was over in eve.

Fri. Jan. 6
Beautiful day. Thawed a lot. Papa & Lester were down & finished chopping today. Mon & Howard went up to Harry Little's early in A.M. & got a pig ($6). Mon hauled wood the rest of the day. I went over to Lizzie's in P.M. awhile. Stopped at Pearl's a minute on my way home. Sid came up about 3 & stayed for supper.

Sat. Jan. 7
Nice day. Papa came down & helped haul up wood today. Dean went home with him & stayed all nite. We went to Prosper in eve a little while & then came back & stopped at home awhile.

Sun. Jan. 8
Not such a nice day. Rather cloudy. Johnnie came over in A.M. & went up town with us. We went up home. Claude's were there too. I went to Clate Reed's mothers funeral. Philip, Arthur, Vera, Maude J. & I sang. "God Will Take Care of You," "It Is Well With My Soul," & "Rock of Ages." Large crowd out.

Mon. Jan. 9
Not such a nice day but not so bad. Papa came down & helped haul wood again today. High School started again today. Arthur is driving this week. We went to B.O. in eve too the Athletic Club. John went up with us. Billie rode home with us too. I went up home. Olive & Isa & their kiddies were there too.

Tues. Jan. 10
Dandy nice day. Papa came down today & they finished hauling up the wood. Lester husked corn here. We had a Farm Bureau Meeting here today on the caring & cutting up meat. It was an interesting lesson. We sure had a good dinner. They canned 2 qts. of meat for me. Claudes & Dell's, Gladys A., Audry L., Isadore, Gladys Arnold, Mr. & Mrs. Krumm, Lily B., Lizzie C., & Bernice were here. We went up to Gust's a minute in eve.

Wed. Jan. 11
Pretty cold day. Ed Dawley sawed wood for us today. Started at 9:40 & quit at 5 & didn't finish. Mama came down & helped me. We went to Bluffton a minute in eve.

Thurs. Jan. 12
Not very nice day. Snowed off & on all day. Papa & mama came down early in A.M. We finished sawing about 11. The men played cards until after 2. Marion came over about 3:30. Arthur took a load of young folks to Decorah in eve to a basket ball game.

Fri. Jan. 13
Snowed almost all day. Mon & Marion hauled a load of posts in A.M. I walked up to Vera's in P.M. to Club. Quite a crowd out. Had a dandy lunch. Katherine H. Pres., Ella R. V. Pres., Mae W. Sec., Beatrice A. Asst. Sec. & Muriel T. Tres. Played 500 in eve until about 12.

Sat. Jan. 14
Quite a nice day. Mon sold 20 shoats to L. K. in A.M. Lyle Masters hauled them. Mon went with him & then we went & got him. Marion stayed at B.O. & Dean stayed at mama's. We had too go to Mabel too get the check cashed. Stopped at home awhile on our way back. Mama doesn't feel very well. Got home about 5. Marion didn't come back with us. 19 shoats weighed 3580 lbs. @ $2.60 & 1 weighed 250 lbs. $2.50 making $99.30 & taking out $1.75 for hauling leaving us $97.55.

Sun. Jan. 15
Dandy nice day. We were alone all day & eve. Arthur went over after Happy's in eve but there was no one at home

Mon. Jan. 16
Not such a nice day. Rather damp. Papa came down in A.M. & got the team & hauled a load of wood to B.O. He & Mon got a load of posts in P.M. We went to B.O. in eve to the A.C. (Johnnie too). I went up home. Mettie, Neva & Aunt Lissa were there too. We got home about 11:30. Mr. Brown drives too school this week.

Tues. Jan. 17
Quite a nice day but pretty cold. Mon hauled posts in A.M. & in P.M. we went down to see his father. Went down town just a minute. Got home about 5.

Wed. Jan. 18
Not very nice day. Rained almost all day. Didn't do much of anything.

Thurs. Jan. 19
Clear, cold, windy day. Pretty slippery. Lizzie was over a few minutes in A.M. Floyd B. & Ed D. were here in A.M. We went up home about 11:30 & Ed went with us. Came home about 4. Arthur took a load to Decorah to a Basket Ball game in eve. The jersey cow had a calf this morning.

Fri. Jan. 20
Quite a nice day. Pretty windy. Thawed quite a little. I washed today. Had a big washing too. Mon helped me. Ironed some in P.M.

Sat. Jan. 21
Just beautiful like a spring day until about 1:30 it clouded up & about 5 it started to mist. Thawed so the roads were pretty sticky. We went up home about 10. Had an early dinner & then papa, Arthur & I went to Decorah. Papa got his car license. Isa & Loyal were at mama's when we got back there. Came home about 4:30.

Sun. Jan. 22
Cold rainy day. We drove the team & wagon over to Lester's & spent the day. Loyal came home with us. We got a little puppy over there (Bruno).

Mon. Jan. 23
Beautiful day. Mon husked corn in A.M. Howard was here awhile in P.M. Arthur drove too school this A.M. & didn't come home until after the Athletic Club. The car stopped on him over by Brady Whitney's so he had to walk home.

Tues. Jan. 24
Mon's 37th Birthday. Beautiful day. Mon helped Geo. G. saw wood all day. Arthur walked too school today. We had a party for Mon in eve. Lester's, Gust's, Geo's, Happy's & Olaf, Howard & Chas W. Had a good time. Got to bed about 1. Harlan stayed all nite.

Wed. Jan. 25
Beautiful day. Thawed a lot & the roads dried quite a little too. Arthur walked too school. Mon helped Geo. saw again today. He got home about 4.

Thurs. Jan. 26
Not very nice day. Cloudy, misty, cold day. Arthur rode the horse today. Mon went to B.O. in A.M. & fixed the car. He got home with it about 4. The roan cow had a little calf this A.M.

Fri. Jan. 27
Snowed some in A.M. Rather cool day. Mon took me to B.O. in P.M. & I went to Club at Katherine H's. with Rex & May, Olive, Alice D. Dorothy & Ruth G., Agnes & Eileen W went too. Large crowd out. Had a swell lunch & good time. Left Loyal at mama's & he went home with his dad.

Sat. Jan. 28
Not very nice day. Rather cool. We went up home about 11. After dinner Papa, Arthur, Lester, Harlan & I went to Mabel. Harlan had two teeth pulled. Arthur got a new pair of rubbers. Stopped at Prosper on our way back & did some trading. Got home about 5. Gust, Ed D. & Donald rode home with us.

Dandy nice day. Thawed quite a little. We were alone all day & eve.

Mon. Jan. 30
Beautiful day. Thawed quite a little. Mr. B. is driving this week. Papa came down in A.M. & he & Mon husked corn all day. Papa stayed for supper. We went to B.O. in eve to A. C. Johnnie went with us. I went up home. Olive & the kids were there. Got home about 11:30.

Tues. Jan. 31
Rather nice in A.M. but about 10:30 it started to rain & kept it up about all day. Papa came down in A.M. to split wood but when it started to rain he went home. Dave was over in P.M. awhile.

Wed. Feb. 1
Regular blizzard most of the day only not much snow. Got quite cold late in P.M. & nite. Howard was over a minute at supper time.

Thurs. Feb. 2
Dandy nice day but pretty cold. Eight grade exams at our school today & tomorrow. Dean doesn't have to go to school. I finished my washing today & ironed some. Dean went up to Gust's & Geo's in A.M. early & then Donald came home with him & spent the day. They went sliding in A.M. & P.M.

Fri. Feb. 3
Cold, windy day. I mopped & cleaned up the house & finished my ironing. Mon & Dean didn't do much of anything. We went up town in eve. Johnnie went with us. I went in to see Agnes. Audry came over there too. She & I helped Agnes get supper for the Dance. We were over to the dance a little while but there was too large a crowd to have any fun. We got home about 2:15. Our car wouldn't start when we got ready to come home so they pushed us out on the pavement & Jack Dawley pushed us with his car & started us. Terribly cold.

Sat. Feb. 4
Mighty cold day & pretty windy. Donald was down in A.M. & Dean went home with him & stayed until about 4:30. Howard was over awhile in A.M. Arthur & I went to Bluffton in P.M. & did some trading.

Sun. Feb. 5
Windy, cold day. We were alone all day & nite.

Mon. Feb. 6
Somewhat warmer early in A.M. but about 10:30 the wind switched around to the north & it blowed hard & snowed off & on until late in P.M. it got colder & was a regular blizzard. Arthur drove too school today. John was here in eve awhile. We didn't go to A.C. tonite. Everything froze in the cellar tonite.

Tues. Feb. 7
Mighty cold blizzardy day. Hard to keep the house warm. Walt Jewell came over about 8 A.M. & said there would be no High School today & Dean didn't go too school either. Terrible on the stock. Didn't have them out only a few minutes.

Wed. Feb. 8
Mighty cold day. The boys went to school but Arthur & Johnnie came home at noon. No school in P.M. Bill stayed up to mama's. Jack & Arthur walked to B.O. about 5 & went to Mabel in eve to a basket ball game & stayed all nite at mama's. We went over to Fred Walter's in eve to a surprise party on him. His birthday & mine 48 yrs & 41 yrs. Howards went with us. Not many out but had a nice time. Got home about 12:30. Mrs. Brown rode home with us. It was terribly cold when we came home.

Thurs. Feb. 9
Cold day again. From 30 to 35º below this A.M. Dean went to school just the same. Walt J. was over in A.M. & again in P.M. Mon & I went up after the boys about 3. Jack rode home with Blaess's & Bill stayed at mama's.

Fri. Feb. 10
Some warmer but a hard south wind. The boys went too school. No Club today on account of the cold.

Sat. Feb. 11
Rather cold but not as bad as some days this week. Mon & Dean took a load of wood up home about noon. Dean stayed up there all nite.

Sun. Feb. 12
Somewhat warmer. Wind in the south & blowing quite hard. Wind changed into N.W. late in P.M. & got colder. We went up home & spent the day. Claude's & Lester's were there too. Had a good time. Lester's rode as far as their gate with us when we came home. Dean came home too.

Mon. Feb. 13
Nice in A.M. but started to snow about noon. Snowed quite hard for a while. (Mr. B. drove). Mon & I went to Bluffton in P.M. to do some trading. Got a sack of flour .79¢. Went up town in eve to A.C. I went to Agnes W's. 16 of us were there & played progressive euchre. Had a good time & a nice lunch. Got home about 12:30. Charles W went with us.

Tues. Feb. 14
Dandy nice day. Thawed some around the building. Didn't do much of anything. Arthur, Bill & Jack went to a party at the school house in eve.

Wed. Feb. 15
Dandy nice day but cold 16º below in A.M. Jack didn't go to school today so Arthur drove. Mon helped Howard saw. I did part of my washing & ironed it too.

Thurs. Feb. 16
Dandy day. Much warmer. Thawed quite a lot. Mr. B. drove today. Papa came down in A.M. & he & Mon husked corn all day.

Fri. Feb. 17
Dandy day. Thawed a lot. I finished my washing & ironing today. Howard was over awhile in eve.

Sat. Feb. 18
Dandy day. Mon & Dean took a load of wood up home in A.M. & Arthur & I went up with the car about noon. Came home about 4:30. Went over to Fred Walter's in eve to a dance. Quite a crowd. Had a good time. Got home about 3:15.

Sun. Feb. 19
Snowed & rained off & on all day. Quite warm. We were alone all day & eve.

Mon. Feb. 20
Quite a nice day until about 3:30 it started to snow & snowed very hard for a while. Arthur drives this week. Mon, Dean & I went to B.O. in eve to A.C. Chas. W. rode with us. I went to Agnes W's. We played whist. 5 tables. Had a good time. Got home about 12.

Tues. Feb. 21
Dandy nice day. Thawed quite a little. Mon helped Charley W. saw wood in P.M. Lester was here a few minutes in P.M. We walked over to Deitel's in eve. Lester's, Gladys, Dale, Carmen & Arland, Chris M. & Stanley S. & Frank & Donald G. were there too. We played cards & visited. Had a lunch & then came home. Got home about 12:15.

Wed. Feb. 22
Just fine in A.M. but clouded up about 3 P.M. & got quite a bit colder. Mon took a load of wood up home this A.M. I rode over as far as Krumm's gate with him & then walked down to the house. We had a farm bureau meeting there. Vera, Audry, Bernice, Gladys Arnold, Mettie, Lily B & I were the only ones there but we had a good meeting & time & a swell dinner & lunch. Mon came after me about 4. No high school today.

Thurs. Feb. 23
Beautiful day. Just like spring. I washed. Howard was over after dinner & wanted Mon to help him butcher so he did.

Fri. Feb. 24
Not such a nice day. Cooler & pretty windy. I ironed in A.M. & patched in P.M. Wanted to go too Club at Maude J's. but had no way to go.

Sat. Feb. 25
Dandy nice day only rather cool. Mon took a load of wood up home in A.M. & the boys & I went along. We came home the north road & Geo & Jack Whalen rode home from B.O. with us. We were invited to Bill Pierce's in eve to a party but we didn't go. The roads dried up a lot today.

Sun. Feb. 26
Beautiful day. Quite warm. We drove the team up to Gust's & Geo's in P.M. but no one home so we came back home.

Mon. Feb. 27
Nice day but rather a cool wind. Mr. B. drives this week. Papa came down in A.M. & he & Mon husked corn all day. Mon went home with papa in P.M. & then took him to Decorah to Lodge in eve. The boys & I went to B.O. in eve to A.C. I went to Agnes to play cards. Not many out but we had a good time. Got home about 12:30. Mart Leonhart rode up town & back with us. Big dance in B.O. tonite too.

Tues. Feb. 28
Nice day but rather cool. Mon took a load of wood up home in A.M. & I went along too. Got home about 5.

Wed. Mar. 1
Dandy day. Mon was over to Deitels all day helping them get loaded & moved. He went out to their place with the last load Stub hauled. They left here about 3:20 & got back 6:25. I washed & ironed some. Harry Quandahl's bought the Deitel place & moved there today. The fellow hauling their household goods lost the rack off his truck & smashed all their furniture into kindling wood except 3 chairs.

Thurs. Mar. 2
Dandy day. We were down to Claudes all day sawing wood. Mama was there too & we took her home. Papa went to Dubuque with Fred Glice & back today. Mon has a pretty bad sore throat.

Fri. Mar. 3
Dandy day. Mon doesn't feel very good today. His throat is swollen pretty much. I ironed & patched today. The high school boys put on a wrestling & boxing bout at the A.C. house in eve. The boys & I went up with Langs. Mon didn't feel like going. Not so many out but it was pretty good. Got home about 9:30. Big dance in B.O. tonite.

Sat. Mar. 4
Quite a nice day. Dean went over to Isa's for dinner & then to B.O. in P.M. Mon feels pretty bum (Tonsilitis I guess). Papa & mama were down in P.M. Mon's throat broke in the nite. All the banks in the U.S. closed today. Roosevelt inaugurated today. Uncle Aaron was operated on for mastoids at Iowa City this A.M.

Sun. Mar. 5
Rather cloudy day. Mon feels better. We went up home & spent the day. Mon, Dean & I went up to Gust's in eve awhile.

Mon. Mar. 6
Quite a nice day. Arthur rode to school with Lange's this A.M. & then Mon & I went up in P.M. & got them. Went up home a few minutes. Went to B.O. in eve to A.C. I went to Agnes' to play cards. Quite a few out. Had a good time. Got home about 12. We played euchre.

Tues. Mar. 7
Cool, windy day. Dust blowing everywhere. Didn't do much of anything. Arthur rode with Lange's again this A.M. & Mon went out to the four corners to meet them.

Wed. Mar. 8
Cold, windy day. Arthur drove today. Didn't do much of anything. Donald G. & Howard were over in eve.

Thurs. Mar. 9
Cold windy day. Arthur drove today. Nothing doing. Mon was over to Howards most of A.M. Farm Bureau meeting at Gladys Alb. today but didn't have any way to go & too cold to walk.

Fri. Mar. 10
Rather nice day. Arthur rode to school with Lange's. We went up home about noon. I went to Club at Ruth G's. in P.M. with Katherine H. She took a load over. Quite a few out. Had a lovely lunch. We bro't the boys home from school.

Sat. Mar. 11
Quite a nice day. Dean walked over to Lester's in A.M. & then on to B.O. in P.M. with them. Mon, Arthur & I went up home about noon. Got back home here about 5.

Sun. Mar. 12
Beautiful day. Nice & warm. Mon, Dean & I went down to Uncle Geo's. & spent the day. Papa & mama, Claude's, Aunt Till & Lawrence & (?Lew?) Bronner were there too. Arthur stayed at home all day.

Mon. Mar. 13
Not very nice day. Misty & cloudy all day. Papa came down early in A.M. & he & Mon stacked corn fodder all day. School Election this P.M. so Dean came home for dinner. I went to Election & Dean went up to Donald's. Ole Albertson put in as director. I stopped at Clifford Q's. a few minutes on my way home. Went to B.O. in eve to A.C. I went to Agnes to play cards. Played whist. Quite a few out. Played at 5 tables. Got home about 12. Johnnie went with us.

Tues. Mar. 14
Nice day. Mama came down with papa & spent the day. Mon sawed wood at Gust's & Ole's in A.M. & hauled a load of wood up for the folks in P.M.

Wed. Mar. 15
Nice day but cold. Clifford Q. had a "bee" chopping wood. Mon & papa helped him. I went up & helped Ida cook for them. Isa was there too.

Thurs. Mar. 16
Dandy nice day. Pretty windy. Arthur took me up home early in A.M. to wash. Had a big wash too. Mon bro't up a load of wood. Lizzie. Maxine & Johnnie were over & spent the eve.

Fri. Mar. 17
Dandy nice day. Papa came down & he & Mon split wood most of the day. Hauled some manure. I ironed & did a little of everything.

Sat. Mar. 18
Started to rain & sleet in the nite & everything is covered with ice. Rained off & on all day & eve. Started to snow in eve & kept it up during the nite. We went up home & spent the day. I got a hair cut. Marion came home from town with us.

Sun. Mar. 19
Regular blizzard but not cold. Didn't do any more than we had to. No rigs on the road today.

Mon. Mar. 20
Another blizzardy day. Johnnie came over in A.M. & he & the boys crawled around here in the snow awhile & then the boys went home with him for a little while. They came back here & I got an early dinner & Arthur & John walked to B.O. More snow around here than we have ever had since we lived here.

Tues. Mar. 21
Quite a warm day. Thawed quite a lot and the sun shone some but the snow still drifted some too. Mon & Marion shoveled until they could get the car out & we went to B.O. in P.M. Floyd A. had been out with the road grader & cleaned off the road from the school house to the four corners we didn't have any trouble getting thro'. Had to wait at Harry Q's a few minutes for them to finish up clearing out the road in the hollow east of Harry's. Lots of snow there. I went in & visited with Vera. Went up home just a minute. Didn't stay very long in B.O. Arthur didn't come home. Dean went to school but no school. Geo's & Gust's came down in eve & Howard & Pearl & Ed D. came over so we had quite a bit of company. The men played cards. They went home about 12.

Wed. Mar. 22
Beautiful day. Thawed a lot. Didn't do much of anything. Arthur came home tonite. Marion killed Buster today. Harold Seelye & Dorothy Bucknell were married today.

Thurs. Mar. 23
Beautiful day. Thawed a lot. Arthur drove today. We went to B.O. about noon with the team & wagon. Marion went with us & went over to Chas. Porter's. He got kicked quite bad by a cow. We went up home. Arthur's school was out at noon so he drove the team home & we came home with the car. Olive & Marvin & Kate R. was up home in P.M. too. Leonard was sick so he went home with his folks. First car past here today since Saturday. While we were eating dinner at mama's Ruth Padden called & said her mother died yesterday P.M.

Fri. Mar. 24
Not such a nice day. Cloudy & damp. I washed & ironed. Arthur drove today. Started to snow about 4:30 & kept it up all nite. Wind blew so we had more drifts. Lizzie was over in A.M.

Sat. Mar. 25
Not such a nice day. Sun shone some. I cleaned up some of the dirt in A.M. & then we went up town with the team & sled. Went up to mama's. Wanted to go to Mrs. Ferris funeral but couldn't.

Sun. Mar. 26
Beautiful day. Lizzie was over in A.M. a few minutes. She & Geo. Mc. bought 2 heifers here for $22.50 & they came after them this A.M. Mon went a ways with them & helped drive them. When he got back he & Arthur hitched up the colt (Queen) for the first time. She went just fine. They drove her most of the A.M. & again in P.M. Johnnie was over in eve.

Mon. Mar. 27
Dandy nice day. Mr. B. drove this A.M. We went up town about 11 with the car so the boys came home with us. Went up to mama's & spent the day. Dave rode home with us from Floyds. The roads are pretty muddy.

Tues. Mar. 28
Dandy day. Mr. B. took the boys this A.M. with the car & went after them in P.M. with the team. Leonard B. came over in A.M. & helped Mon hitch up the colt & they drove to Bluffton & back.

Wed. Mar. 29
Bad day. Rained all day & nite. Quite a bit of hard thunder & lightning. Arthur rode Nell to school this A.M. & didn't come home. Stayed at mama's all nite. Didn't do much of anything.

Thurs. Mar. 30
Arthur's 16th Birthday. Not very nice in A.M. but cleared off about noon & was very nice until late in P.M. it clouded up again. Rained in eve & nite. We drove the colt to B.O. in P.M. Silver Creek was pretty high. Roads are settled quite a bit, but they are pretty heavy to. Richard Blaess & Doris Blomgreen were married today.

Fri. Mar. 31
Rained off & on all day. Arthur rode the horse today. Howard went as far as Harry's with his car today but he had a hard time of it.

Sat. Apr. 1
Rather nice in A.M. but cool. Clouded up in P.M. & rained some. We went up home in A.M. Got home about 5. Our road was pretty muddy. Gust & Ole rode home with us & we came their way. That road isn't as muddy. We drove the colt up town. We walked up to Gust's in eve. His birthday. Geo's. were there too. Had a nice time. Kate served us a lovely lunch. Got home about 1:30. Froze a little tonite.

Sun. Apr. 2
Not very nice day. Rather cold & windy. Roads dried up a lot. Dean was up to Geo's. all day. Arthur drove the team up there in P.M. I went over to Howard's in P.M. Harry's were there too.

Mon. Apr. 3
Not very nice day. No school in our school this week. Dean went up to Lester's in A.M. & stayed until after dinner. He rode Barney. After he came home in P.M. he & Mon hitched the colt up & drove her & Barney up to Gust's & back & then started to get a load of wood with them & they ran away from them. Didn't do any damage only to the gate here at the barnyard, they run over that, & broke all the lines & some of the rest of the harness. Howard was over in A.M. awhile. Arthur rode the horse today. The roads dried up a lot today, so the cars were running. Didn't go to A.C. tonite.

Tues. Apr. 4
Rather nice in A.M. early but clouded up about 10 & it sure snowed. Such great big flakes & a lot of them. Rained & snowed all the rest of the day & nite. Snowed hard again about 4:30 P.M. Gust & Kate came down about 10 & we went to Decorah. Uncle Aaron walked over here in A.M. & then he rode back to Aunt Lissa's with us when we went to Decorah. Went up to see Dad & Sid awhile. They have just about finished cleaning house. Papered, painted & varnished. Laid 3 new floors too. Roads were not so bad when we went to Decorah but they sure were when we came home. Got home about 4:45. Arthur & Johnnie rode Nell & Barney to school today.

Rained all A.M. Let up some in P.M. Johnnie came over early in A.M. to go too school but it was raining too hard so they didn't go. They hitched up the colt & drove her around some in P.M.

Not very nice day. Rather cool. Arthur rode Nell to school today & Jack walked. We went uptown in A.M. Jack rode home with us.

Fri. Apr. 7
Not very nice early in A.M. but cleared off & was a beautiful day. Arthur & Jack rode the horses today. I washed & ironed. Dean went up to Donald's in P.M. & Mon went over to Harry's.

Sat. Apr. 8
Not very nice day. Cool & windy. We went up home & spent the day. Isa was there too. Mama doesn't get well very fast. Uncle Milo passed away about 11 P.M. We had quite a bit of thunder & lightning & rain in the nite. Spoil the roads again. They dried up enough so the cars were going again today.

Sun. Apr. 9
Cloudy, cold, windy day. Kate's Birthday. We went up & spent the day with her. Surprised her. Geo's, Ole's & us. Took our dinner. Had a dandy dinner. Olaf & Kate & little Harold came up there in P.M. Olaf's Birthday too.

Mon. Apr. 10
Not very nice day. Cool & rained off & on during the day. Arthur rode Nell today. Dave & Walk J., Ed D. & Harry Q. were here in A.M. Dean's school started again today. Froze hard tonite.

Tues. Apr. 11
Quite a nice day but cold. Snowed quite hard sometimes in P.M. Arthur drove the mules to school in A.M. & I went along up home with him & went with papa to Uncle Milo's funeral. They had the funeral at Aunt Till's. John Wicks preached the sermon quite a crowd out. The Burial was at the Russel cemetry & the roads were so bad we didn't go over there. We came home after the service. Mama isn't a bit well. Isa stayed with her while papa & I went. Bess Halse & Clem Dinger rode down with us & Meda Harvey rode back with us. Harry Harvey's mother was buried at B.O. in P.M. Papa went to that burial too. Aunt Eunice, Ella Mae, Neva & the boys were up to mama's in P.M. Mon was up town & rode home with us. We hauled Ralph Taylor out of the mud coming home. Ed D. was here in eve.

Wed. Apr. 12
Beautiful day. Warmed up a lot & the road dried a lot. Lester helped Mon husk corn today & Loyal came along with him. Loyal is 6 years old today. They dragged our road today & there was one car on the road today too. Ray Hennings was here for dinner. We went over to Howard's awhile in eve. Got some roosters.

Thurs. Apr. 13
Rather cool day. Quite windy. I washed. Isa & Loyal came with Lester today. They bro't their pup & the two dogs sure had a big time. The men finished husking the fodder today. Harlan came down after school & they stayed for supper. Isa, Loyal & I went down in Uncle Marion's woods in P.M. & found some flowers. Johnnie drove the car today.

Fri. Apr. 14
Beautiful day. Quite a bit warmer. Papa came down & he & Mon hauled in the corn fodder. Johnnie drove today. Mon took me to B.O. at noon. Club at Iona's. Very large crowd out. Inez Whitney, Vera Knox, Dorothy Ward & Dorothy Seelye joined. Had a swell lunch. Stopped at mama's a minute. She is better. Isa & Loyal were there & Loyal came home with me. Mon came after me. Mon & I went up to Harold Seelye's in eve to a surprise party for them. Stopped & took Gust & Kate. Quite a few there. Had a nice time & nice lunch. Got home about 1:30.

Dandy nice warm day. The folks cleaned grain all day. Arthur took the car & went to a party at Rube Wilburs in eve.

Easter Sunday. Beautiful day. We went up home & spent the day. Mama is felling pretty good now. Harlan came down & got Loyal this A.M.

Mon. Apr. 17
Beautiful day. Arthur's week to drive. Mon started plowing this A.M. He put the colt on the plow after noon I was out with him most of the day. We went to B.O. in eve to A.C. I went to Alice Wicks to play cards. Not so many out but we had a good time. Got home about 11. Jack went with us.

Beautiful day. Spent most of the day out in the field with Mon.

Beautiful day. Mon fixed the drag today & then in P.M. after he got it fixed he dragged corn stalks. We went up town in eve. Gust & Kate went along too. Mama's Birthday & Kate & I went up there.

Thurs. Apr. 20
Beautiful day. Mon went over to Dave's in A.M. & got his disc & used that the rest of the day. He used the colt on it in P.M. She went fine. I was out with him most of P.M.

Fri. Apr. 21
Dandy nice day but the wind & dust got to blowing pretty bad about noon. Mon was discing all day. Papa & mama came down for supper. Pearl & Howard were over in eve. Baseball boys had a dance in B.O. in eve but we didn't go.

Sat. Apr. 22
Beautiful day. Dean went up to Isa's in A.M. & then on up to mama's for dinner. He came home about 3. Harlan bro't him home on the pony & stayed until about 4. Mon & Arthur took turns working in the field & burning fence rows. We went up town in eve. Went up home a while. Leonard Hegvedt's house burned this A.M. (The old Wingate house) but they saved everything but the seed corn.

Beautiful day. Papa & mama & Claude's were here & spent the day. Papa & the boys went fishing in A.M. & again in P.M. Got about 25. Mon & Claude went to B.O. in P.M. Jack was over awhile in eve.

Dean's 13th Birthday. Beautiful day. Pretty windy. The dust was pretty bad. Mon plowed all day. Johnnie's week to drive. Dad Price came up for supper.

Dandy nice day but cooler. Mon plowed all day. Arthur drove today. Mon & I went up & got Gust & Kate in eve & went to B.O. Kate & I went up home awhile.

Beautiful day. Mon seeded today. I washed & ironed. We went up town in eve. Big Dance, but we didn't go.

Sat. Apr. 29
Nice in A.M. but the wind blew terribly hard in P.M. & it clouded up & rained some. The boys & I went to Decorah in A.M. Arthur got a new pair of shoes. We got some paper for the house. Stopped up to Price's a minute. Only Sid at home. Dad was down to Adam's. Mon seeded today. Howard was over a minute at supper time.

Sun. Apr. 30
Sprinkled some in A.M. & rained hard in P.M. We went up home & came home just when it rained so hard. Got almost home & met a car & we were there then. Didn't have chains on. So we walked home & Mon & the boys got the mules & hauled the car up the hills home. Rained most of the nite I guess. Mon was over to Howards in eve.

Mon. May 1
Cloudy & misty. Quite warm in A.M. but the wind switched around in the north in P.M. & it got pretty cool. Mon plowed in P.M. Arthur drives this week. Arthur's sow had 5 little pigs.

Tues. May 2
Nice day but cool & windy. Mon plowed in A.M. & finished seeding in P.M. Arthur broke the car this P.M. so he had to catch a ride home. Johnnie was over in eve.

Wed. May 3
Beautiful day. Johnnie drove today. Roy got the car fixed today so Arthur drove it home. Mon took Gust's seeder home in A.M. & then dragged the rest of the day. I washed & ironed. The jersey heifer & the dark red one each had a little calf today.

Thurs. May 4
Dandy nice day but cool. 8th grade exams today & tomorrow so Dean doesn't have to go to school. He went over to McCauleys & stayed all day & then Ray came home & stayed over nite with him. Mon dragged all day. We went up town in eve. I went up to mama's a few minutes. Jack & Bill went with us too. The kids had play practice.

Fri. May 5
Not very nice day. Windy & cool. Started raining about 1 & kept it up most of the P.M. Mon finished dragging this A.M. about 10:30 & we had an early dinner. Walt R. was here for dinner. Dean & I walked to B.O. after dinner. Got as far as Merle's & it rained so hard we waited there & rode up town with Brady & Inez. Club at Mae's. Large crowd out. Had a dandy lunch. Rode home with the boys. Went back up town in eve. The High School gave a play at the Hall "Zippy". Arthur was in it. The play was fine. They all took their parts well. Not such a big crowd out though. Maxine went up with us. Billy Lange, Ethel Brown, Garner Sheley, Howard McMullen, Martin Jensen, Joe Jensen, Pauline Manning, Gerthrude Wilson, Bertha McCauley, Bertha Gilbertson & Arthur were the ones in the play.

Sat. May 6
Not very nice day. Didn't do much of anything. Mon went up to Nash's & got the lime spreader & then to Gust's & put it on the manure spreader. He & the boys were up there most of P.M. fixing it. Got home in time to haul out one load of lime. Jack was over in eve a while.

Sun. May 7
Not very nice day. Rained hard in P.M. & then kept it up the rest of the P.M. & nite. We went up home & spent the day. Ruth (Robinson) Coltie was there with her little girl. Cute little kid.

Mon. May 8
Not very nice day. Rained off & on all day. Arthur drove today. Didn't do much of anything.

Tues. May 9
Not very nice day. Cold. Arthur drove again today. Mon finished spreading the lime today. I washed woodwork.

Wed. May 10
Not very nice day. Rained quite hard some times. I washed. Had a great time getting my clothes dry between showers. Some of them didn't get dry. I ironed some. Mon plowed a little. We had 7 more little pigs today. Jack drove today.

Thurs. May 11
Rather nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & rained off & on. Mon went up & got mama early in A.M. & we papered our bed room. Queen had a little calf this A.M. & we had some little excitement getting her in the barn. Jack drove today. Mon plowed. We took mama home in eve. Had a blow out going up Ernie's hill so mama & I went in there while the men were fixing the tire. Had 8 more little pigs tonite.

Fri. May 12
Not very nice day. Sun shone a little but most of the time it was cloudy & rainy. Mon went up & got mama in A.M. & we papered the sitting room. We took her home about 5. Glen A. was here in P.M. & Jack in eve.

Sat. May 13
Dandy nice day. Mon plowed. I worked like the dickens in A.M. & then the boys took me up town in P.M. The Joan of Arc Club had a program & gave a lunch to the Mothers of the community. Florence E., Dorothea Ward, Vera & I sang "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" & "Lullaby Time". They had a nice program & lunch. There were about 50 mothers there. We went up town in eve. Went up home a little while. Olive, Marie & Marvin were there too.

Sun. May 14
Beautiful day. We went down to Claudes & spent the day. Papa & mama & Lester's were there too. The men went to the Ball Game at B.O. in P.M. B.O. & Bluffton. B.O. won 17-2. Howard was over in eve.

Mon. May 15
Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & sprinkled different times. Mon plowed. He went up & got mama in P.M. early & we papered & cleaned the pantry. Arthur took her home about 5:30. Arthur drives this week. Little daughter born to Ruth & Weston Porter (Evelyn Louise).

Tues. May 16
Beautiful day. Mon plowed. I washed & ironed & did a lot of things. It rained hard in the nite. Had 8 more little pigs tonite.

Wed. May 17
Dandy day. Mon went up early in A.M. & got mama & we papered & cleaned the kitchen. Dean's school was out today. They had a picnic. Mon plowed. The H.S. had a kitten ball game with Ridgeway in P.M. so it was late when the boys got home & Mon took mama home. Mon, Dean & I went over to Howards awhile in eve. Rained & stormed hard in the nite.

Thurs. May 18
Beautiful day. Mon went & got mama in A.M. & took the boys to school. He & Dean did odd jobs of work all day. Mama & I finished cleaning up the house. I went to B.O. in P.M. with Mon when he took mama home. The boys rode home with us. Went up to Gust's in eve. Had a bad storm in the nite. Wind, thunder, lightning, hail & rain. In some places the hail broke windows but not any here.

Fri. May 19
Beautiful day. Mon & Dean did odd jobs in A.M. I had Club today. Good crowd 45 besides ourselves. Had another rain in eve again. Had 3 more little pigs tonite.

Sat. May 20
Beautiful day. Cleaned up the milk house & around the yard & got the separator out in the milk house. Arthur finished the plowing in P.M. Dean & I went down on Silver Creek. Went to B.O. in eve. Went up home awhile.

Sun. May 21
Dandy day. Mon went over early in A.M. & got Marion to help him with some work. They went to Bluffton in P.M. to the ball game. The Wernett boys were here all P.M. Jack was over in eve. Mon & I took Marion home in eve & stayed there a few minutes.

Mon. May 22
Nice day. Pretty windy. Mon dragged in A.M. & got Daves disc at noon & used that in P.M. B.O.H.S. had a kitten ball game at Ridgeway in P.M. & got beat 8 & 9. They got home about 6. Jack's week to drive. Had 6 more little pigs. Dean & I did a little of everything.

Tues. May 23
Cloudy all A.M. until about 11 we sure had a hard rain. Cleared up in P.M. & was nice but the wind blew terribly hard. Mon disced until it rained. Didn't do much of anything in P.M. We went over to Harry's a few minutes. Dean went to B.O. with the boys in A.M. & came home when they came from school. We went up town in eve. Grand opening of the Silver Creek Pavilion tonite. (Rex Ward, Cecil Wicks, Otto Koenig & Sam Cassel). It is on the hill west of the folks. I went up with Cecil & Agnes. Great crowd inside & out. It sure looked beautiful. Helped a little in the kitchen. We came home about 1.

Wed. May 24
Dandy day only pretty windy. Mon disced all day. I washed & did some ironing. Dean went up to Geo's in A.M. & slept all P.M. Uncle Aaron was here a few minutes in A.M. Mrs. Torgerson & Glen at noon & papa & mama came down for supper.

Thurs. May 25
Nice day. Mon used the disc until noon & then he took it home & dragged in P.M. I ironed in A.M. & in P.M. Dean & I went out in the pasture hunting Queen's halter. We found some lady slippers. Floyd A. & his boys were over in eve. After he went home we went up to Geo's & got his digger.

Fri. May 26
Sprinkled off & on all A.M. but was nice in P.M. Mon used the digger until about 3 P.M. then Arthur took it home & Mon went over & got Floyd's planter. Dad Price & Uncle Jim were here a few minutes in P.M. Arthurs last day of school. They had a picnic at Spillville in P.M. for 5 o'clock supper but he wouldn't go so he got home from school about 10:30.

Sat. May 27
Dandy nice day. Mon planted corn all day & Arthur dragged. We went up town in eve. I went up home awhile. Olive & the kids were there.

Sun. May 28
Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & rained hard some times. Rained hard in eve too. Mon finished planting that one piece in A.M. about 10 & took the planter home. We went up home when he got back. Claude's & Lesters came just after dinner. Ball game in B.O. Freeport & B.O. B.O. was ahead when they had to quit for the rain. The boys were up at the pavillion all P.M. watching them roller skate. We took Lester's so far as their gate. Got as far as Jack's & it was raining so hard & getting so muddy we stopped there until it let up raining & put the chains on & came on home. Loyal came home with us & Dean stayed at mama's all nite.

Mon. May 29
Rained almost all day & sometimes quite hard. Cleared off in eve & was nice. We shelled seed corn in A.M. Slept & read in P.M.

Tues. May 30
Very nice in A.M. but clouded up & rained hard quite a few times in P.M. Cleared off & was nice in eve. Dean came home about noon. Mon & Arthur fixed fence. We went to B.O. in eve. Went up to the pavillion. I helped some in the kitchen. Got home about 2.

Wed. May 31
Beautiful day. I went to Decorah about 9 A.M. with Ole, Gladys & Vera to the Farm Bureau "Achievement Day" at the L.C. Gymnasium. Quite a crowd there, but not as large as last year. Had a good dinner & good program. B.O. & Bloomfield were both high this year. Vera & I went down town in A.M. a little while. I got a new pair of slippers (3.50). Got home about 5. Mon went over to Dave's in P.M. & got his disc & used that in P.M.

Thurs. June 1
Beautiful day. Mon used the disc in A.M. & part of P.M. Arthur went over to Floyd's at noon & got the digger & after Mon finished with the disc they used the digger. I washed & ironed.

Fri. June 2
Dandy day. Rather windy. Rained in eve. Arthur & Mon used the digger until about noon & then Mon took it home & got the planter. Arthur dragged & Mon planted in P.M. Arthur took Dean & I to B.O. at noon. I went to Club at Stella R's. Dean went up home. We rode as far as the four corners with Muriel & walked the rest of the way home.

Sat. June 3
Mighty hot day. Arthur dragged & Mon planted corn. They finished about 4:30. We went up town in eve. I went up home awhile. Olive, Marvin & Marie were there too. Mon & Arthur went to Canton with papa in eve. Mon & Dean got a hair cut. Got home about 11.

Sun. June 4
Not very nice day. Pretty warm but cloudy almost all day. Cleared off late in P.M. Arthur went over to Johnnie's in A.M. awhile. He & Johnnie killed a rattlesnake. Jack came home with him & was here for dinner also Floyd Blaess. We went to Plymouth in P.M. to the ball game. Saw lots I knew. Good game B.O. beat 7-5. Clifford & Ida Q. & the kids were down in eve. Mon went up to Gust's in A.M.

Mon. June 5
Pretty hot day. Donald & James N. were here early in A.M. & Dean went with them to look at their traps. Mon & Arthur took the planter home & got Harry's walking plow & plowed the garden & a patch for potatoes. Harry was here in P.M. & got some seed corn for Clifford. They both had to plant their corn over. Mon & Dean took the plow home in P.M. We went over to Brown's in eve.

Tues. June 6
Hot old day. Tried to plant garden & potatoes in A.M. but it was so hot we didn't get much done. Mon plowed corn a little while in P.M. Dean & I went over to Pearl's in P.M. Had quite a bit of thunder & lightning in the nite but not much rain. The white heifer had a little calf today.

Wed. June 7
Pretty nice day. Plenty warm. I washed & ironed. The boys & Mon planted some potatoes in A.M. & Mon plowed corn in P.M. The boys went to the creek swimming in P.M. I planted some more garden after supper. We went up to Lester's a minute in eve. Loyal came home with us. We found 8 more little pigs today. The last of the bunch.

Thurs. June 8
Pretty warm day. Lester & Harlan came down early in A.M. & got the white heifer & her calf to take up there & keep this summer. Dean & Loyal went along with them to help get her up there. Lester went to Bluffton about 10 & the boys all came back here with him. Harlan & Loyal went home about 4. Mon plowed corn & the boys finished planting potatoes. We went to B.O. in eve. I went up home awhile.

Fri. June 9
Dandy day. Not quite so hot. Mon plowed corn in A.M. & he & Arthur went over to Dell's in P.M. & got a one row corn plow for Arthur to use. Little daughter born to Harold & Audry this P.M. Dolores Joann.

Sat. June 10
Hot day. Mon & Arthur plowed corn until about 4:30. O'Dean was here with Dean most of the day. I went over to Lizzie's in P.M. to see the baby. She is sure nice. We went to B.O. in eve. Went to the Old Time Dance at the pavillion. Quite a crowd outside but not so many inside. Had a pretty good time. Got home about 2.

Sun. June 11
Might windy day. Dust blew just terrible in A.M. Not so hot though. Mon & the boys went to Bluffton in P.M. to the ball game & I stayed at Lizzie's. We went to B.O. in eve. Went to the roller skating at the pavillion. Quite a crowd there. Sure some noise. Got home about 12. Had our first mess of strawberries today for dinner. We found 9 little chickens today.

Mon. June 12
Rather cool windy day. Mon & Arthur worked around doing odd jobs in A.M. & plowed corn in P.M. I planted some more garden in P.M. Dean has a sore toe so he didn't do much.

Tues. June 13
Another cool, windy day. We went up to B.O. in A.M. Mon got some pipes fixed to make a tank for the cream out of a barrel. I went up home a minute. Stopped at Gust's a little while on our way home. Mon & Arthur fixed the tank & then after dinner Arthur went over to Jack's awhile & when he got back they fixed fence. I picked strawberries in P.M. We went to B.O. in eve to hear the negro's play at the pavillion. Gust & Kate went along. Very large crowd up there. Pretty cold. We got home about 12.

Wed. June 14
Dandy nice day. Mon & Arthur plowed corn. Dean & I cleaned the brooder house in P.M.

Thurs. June 15
Pretty warm day. Mon & Arthur plowed corn. Papa & mama came down early in A.M. & mama & I papered the boys room. Didn't quite finish. Papa & Dean went fishing. They didn't get many. Mon went up to Clifford's in eve with Gilbert.

Fri. June 16
Pretty hot day. Mama & papa came down early in A.M. & we finished papering the boys room about 10:30. They stayed for dinner & then Dean & Arthur went home with them. Mon & I went up a little later & stayed for supper. Mama & I went over to Mrs. Koenigs awhile. Arthur didn't come home with us. He stayed up home all nite. We stopped at Floyds on our way home & I got 24 tomato plants & set them out when I got home set out 11 pepper plants too. We went over to Daves a minute in eve. The baby & Audry are just fine. Mon & Arthur finished going thro' their corn the second time about 10:30 A.M. Club at Myrtle Mannings but didn't have any way to go.

Sat. June 17
Pretty warm day. Papa bro't Arthur home early in A.M. & Dean & I went back up home with him & I did my washing. Mon & Arthur came up for dinner. We came home about 2. Dean stayed up until eve. Gilbert T. was here in P.M. I did my ironing. We went up town in eve. M.E.L.A.S. had an ice cream social on Scholeys lawn. Very large crowd out. Went up home just a minute. Dean came home. Jack went to town with us.

Sun. June 18
Pretty warm again. Jack came over about 7 & he & Arthur went hunting woodchucks. Didn't get any tho'. Arthur got back about 10:30. Mon & I picked strawberries. We went up home about 11. Isa & the boys came just after dinner & mama, Isa, Loyal & I went up to Aunt Alice's a little while in P.M. B.O. & Glenwood played ball here today. B.O. got beat. We got home about 6. Uncle Aaron was here for supper. Went up & got Gust & Kate after we got the chores done & went to the roller skating. Large crowd out. Got home about 12. Jack rode home with us.

Mon. June 19
Pretty hot day. Gilbert brot a couple of calves over in A.M. & got 2 pigs for them & then he bought one old sow & 8 little pigs for $15. Didn't do much of anything today. Mon & I went out in the east hay field & on over thro' the pasture in P.M. to see how they were. Need some rain but they are not too bad yet. Dad & Warren were up for supper. O'Dean was here in P.M. Dad bro't up 19 little chickens barred rocks.

Tues. June 20
Pretty hot day. We picked strawberries early in A.M. Papa came down about 9:30 & was going to Decorah so Dean & I went along. Mighty hot down there. Got some sheets toweling & a new dress besides other things. Dean got new shirt overall & hat. Got up home in time for dinner. Mon & Arthur were there & we came home with them. Got a dozen tomato plants of Dad & I set them out in eve. Had a little sprinkle of rain in the nite. Inez Nolte & Warren Harvey were married this A.M.

Wed. June 21
Pretty hot day. Mon & Arthur plowed corn. They also finished fixing the fence west of the house.

Thurs. June 22
Pretty hot day. Mon & Arthur plowed corn. Had a dandy nice shower about supper time. We went up town in eve. Went up to the Pavillion "Old Time Dance". Not many out. The music was good. Got home about 11:30.

Fri. June 23
Quite nice in A.M. Not so hot. Clouded up in P.M. & sprinkled off & on. Mon & Arthur finished going thro' their corn the 3rd time this A.M. They didn't do much of anything in P.M. I washed & ironed. Mon & I went to B.O. in eve to a shower for Bessie & Percy at the Pavillion. There was a good crowd & a fine time. Old Time Dance. Frank O'Brien, Terrence McConnel & Stella Reed. They were sure good. The kids got lots of nice presents. Got home about 3. I got my hair cut. Had quite a hard shower after we got home.

Sat. June 24
Nice early in A.M. & then it clouded up & we had a hard rain about 11:30. Cleared off in P.M. & was nice again. We sold hogs & got for them. Harold R. hauled them to Prosper. Mon went with him. The boys & I went up about 1 after him. Dean stayed at mama's & papa went to Prosper with us. Went down to Stub's but Mon had gone with him after a load of hogs so we had to wait there until they got back. Then Stub, Fannye, Barbara, Mon, Arthur & I went to Mabel to get the check cashed. Got back to mama's about 5. Came right on home. Big Opening Dance at Bluffton this eve but it looked rainy & we were too lazy to go. It rained again in the nite.

Sun. June 25
Pretty hot day. Clifford & Buddy Q. were here all A.M. until noon. Harry & Vera were here a little while too. We went up home about 12:30. Claude's were there. The men went to the ball game at Hesper. B.O. beat. We stayed up home for supper. Stopped at Gust's a minute on our way home. Went up & watched them roller skate in eve. Very large crowd there.

Mon. June 26
Hot day. We went over to Harold L's. early in A.M. Mon helped them mix cement. They are building an addition on their house, on the north side. I went to see the mail man. Mon sent for a wagon. We got home about 10. Mon hoed potatoes after we got home, until noon. Arthur & I picked enough strawberries for a shortcake. Mon & Arthur plowed corn in P.M.

Tues. June 27
Pretty hot day. They moved the brooder house around this A.M. & did some other things before they went to plow corn. We went up town in eve. Didn't go to the dance though.

Wed. June 28
Pretty hot day. Mon & Arthur finished going thro' their corn the fourth time this P.M. early. I hoed & did a little of everything. Planted some garden over again.

Thurs. June 29
Hot day. We went over to Lesters & then to B.O. & then on to Decorah early in A.M. Got a hundred little chickens. Came home the river road. Got home about noon. I got a couple of everyday dresses or cloth for them. Dean stayed at Lesters & then Harlan came home with him in P.M.

Fri. June 30
Mighty hot day. The Joan of Arc had their picnic in Will Jacobson's wood. Big crowd out & a swell dinner. (7 gal's of ice cream). Had a good time. Went around the north way home & took Harlan to their gate & he walked the rest of the way. Did up the chores early & Frank & Donald were down & we went down to Harry Halse's swimming. Quite a crowd of B.O.'s there. They sure had a good time. It rained & stormed pretty hard shortly after we got home. Storm lasted so long.

Sat. July 1
Quite nice in A.M. I washed & Mon helped me. The boys went up after the mail. We had an early dinner & they went to Prosper after the wagon. I stopped at mama's. We got home again about 2:30 & they set the wagon up & the boys drove around with it. I ironed some. Sid was here awhile in P.M. It rained some in P.M. & then it stormed hard all eve & on into the nite. Thunder, Lightning & wind & rain. Water everywhere. It looked so bad in the brooder house I bro't the little chicks in the house & kept them all nite.

Sun. July 2
Nice cool day. We went up home about noon. Claudes came up there in P.M. too. Arthur went up & tried the roller skating for the first time. We got home about 5 & did up the chores & went up to Lesters for picnic supper. Carl's, Vernie's & Gilbert were there too. Had a good time. Arthur went to B.O. awhile. We got home about 11.

Mon. July 3
Nice cool day. Did a little of everything. Mon & the boys worked in the potatoes most of the A.M. & some in P.M. Mon mowed weeds too. He & I went out in the woods & got some raspberries for supper.

Tues. July 4
Nice day. Not so hot & still warm enough in the sun. Mon & the boys worked in the potato patch until about 10:30 & then we had a lunch & went to Bluffton to the Celebration. Jack rode down with us. Not such a crowd there as last year. Saw quite a few I knew. Mart, Kate & O'Dean rode home with us when we came home. Did our chores & went back to Bluffton again. They went back with us. Had a lunch down there at the stand. Not such a crowd down there. Stayed there until about 11 & then we all started for B.O. Got up home & Bruno came out to meet us & followed us up the road almost to the corner. Howard came around the corner just then & the dust was so thick he didn't see Bruno & he hit him with the car. Mon carried Bruno back to the barn & we went on to B.O. Very large crowd up there. They sold over 400 numbers. We came home about 1. Took Marts home. Pretty cool tonite.

Wed. July 5
Dandy nice day. Some warmer. Mon & Arthur plowed corn. Dean & I fixed a place & put our little chicken out doors. Jack was over in P.M. I went up in the woods & picked black raspberries in P.M. Papa & mama were down for supper. Howard was over a minute after supper. Mon had to kill Bruno this morning early. He couldn't get around at all.

Thurs. July 6
Dandy day. Mon & Arthur plowed corn. We went to B.O. in eve to the Dance at the Pavillion. Kelly's played & it sure was music. First time I have heard them since I was a kid. Very large crowd there & such a good time. Got home about 1:30. We took Lester's as far as their gate. Jack rode up with us.

Fri. July 7
Nice day. Mon & Arthur finished plowing corn this A.M. They fixed fence in P.M. & then Mon & I picked berries for supper.

Sat. July 8
Rather cloudy day. Did a little of everything. Mon mowed the roadside & the hollows in the oatsfield in P.M. Pearl was over a little while in P.M. We went up town in eve. I went up home awhile. Olive & the kids were there too. They had a shower for Warren & Inez at the Pavillion but we didn't go.

Sun. July 9
Nice day. Pretty warm. We had a picnic dinner here today & picked gooseberries in P.M. They got quite a few berries. Papa, mama, Claudes, Lester's, Dell's, Aunt Lissa & Vincel, Gust's, Ole's & Alice A., & Clifford's were here. We sure had a fine dinner. Carl's came in P.M. & Isa & Loyal went home with them. Claude, Dell & Mon went to the Ball game at B.O. in P.M. B.O. won against Kendalville. We went over to Harry's awhile in eve.

Mon. July 10
Pretty hot day. I canned 5 qts. of gooseberries in A.M. Pearl was over awhile in A.M. Arthur mowed in A.M. & part of P.M. They put up a load & a half of hay in P.M. I picked raspberries in P.M. We went up town a minute in eve. Clifford went along too.

Tues. July 11
Clouded up early in A.M. & looked like we were going to get a hard rain but we just got a nice shower. Cleared off & was nice the rest of the day. Pretty warm. Mon, Dean & I went out after raspberries early in A.M. & Arthur mowed. Didn't do much of anything after it rained until noon. They put up some hay in P.M. We went up town in eve a minute.

Wed. July 12
Hot old day. I washed in A.M. & ironed some in P.M. Arthur mowed in A.M. early & they put in one load of hay before dinner. Arthur, Dean & I went over after Marion at noon to come & fix the mower. It clouded up & looked pretty stormy in P.M. but only sprinkled here. The men put up hay. Ruth, Rupert & Ralphie were here a little while in eve.

Thurs. July 13
Pretty hot day until about 4 P.M. It was nice in A.M. but clouded up about noon & it looked like we were going to have a bad storm but it didn't rain until about 4 & then it rained very hard, hailed a little & the wind blew for a minute too. Got bad storms all around us this week. The men hayed in A.M. We took Marion home in eve. Stayed at Alberts a few minutes.

Fri. July 14
Nice day but cool. Arthur mowed in A.M. & Mon raked up hay. Johnnie Whalen was here for dinner. Mon took Jack W. to Harmony in P.M. Dean & Mary went along & I rode over to Elsie's to Club. She had a big crowd & a dandy lunch. Papa bro't me home. Mon & Arthur put up a load of hay in P.M. after Mon got back from Harmony. We took Jack over to his place in eve. Johnnie went along too. Had quite a ride. Some rough roads. Got home about 10:30. Rather cool nite.

Sat. July 15
Nice cool day. The men finished putting up what hay they had mowed about 3 P.M. & then Arthur & I went to Decorah. Had 3 sacks of oats hulled for the little chickens. Got a sack of Sunnyfield flour $1.47. Stopped at Dad's a few minutes. Got home about 6. Dad came up for supper. Isa, Lester & the boys were here in P.M. & O'Dean L. was here most of the day. We went up town in eve. I went up home a few minutes. Mon got his twine tonite @ 6½¢ per lb.

Sun. July 16
Nice cool day. Mon & the boys went up to Jack's in A.M. I picked some berries. We went to Bluffton in P.M. to the ball game. Plymouth beat Bluffton. I didn't watch the game. Sat in Claudes car & visited with Olive. Mon, Dean & I went over to Lovliens in eve.

Mon. July 17
Nice day. Somewhat warmer. Arthur mowed hay until about 10. We all worked in the garden until noon. They put up hay in P.M. Mon & I rode up town with Howard's in eve.

Tues. July 18
Nice day. Started harvesting the A.M. Jack W. is cutting our grain. Dean was up to Cliffords all day. Mon, Dean & I went up to Jacks' a few minutes in eve. Jack broke the binder just about dark so he had to quit cutting. Harry Q. is putting up hay on share here on the field up at the corner. Howard & Fred are helping him also Leonard Q. Mon & Leonard got their fingers hurt putting up the hay poles.

Wed. July 19
Pretty hot day. They finished cutting & shocking our grain tonite about 5:30. Jack, Mary & Maurice W. were here for dinner & Jack's hired man John Fox was here for supper, Jack too. Papa & mama came down in eve & Mon & the boys went over to Brown's with papa. Mama stayed here. They finished putting up the hay this P.M.

Thurs. July 20
Pretty warm day. They started cutting grain at Jack's this A.M. Mon & Arthur were up there. Arthur bro't the horses home about 3 & didn't go back again. Dean & I picked berries in A.M. & went over to Pearls awhile in P.M. It looked mighty stormy in the night but it only sprinkled a little.

Fri. July 21
Had a hard rain early in A.M. It sure was a bad looking storm. Cloudburst at Harmony, Canton, Mabel & around B.O. All bridges washed out. Couldn't get across the bridge at Floyds or at Seelye's. Walt came in from the west & had a hard time getting across Gilbertson's bridge. Had to plank it. Don't know how he got out as they said Pine Creek bridge was washed too. Mon & the boys went down to see Silver Creek in A.M. It sure roared all day & Pine Creek too. Mon & Arthur went to Jack's in P.M. The binder broke in P.M. & Mon took Jack as far as Seelye's & he walked the rest of the way to B.O. to get the piece welded. Arthur came home for supper but Mon had supper at Seelye's. Dean rode Nell around most of the P.M. Jack was over in eve. We had another bad storm in the nite. A regular downpour again.

Sat. July 22
Pretty hot day. I washed out a few clothes in A.M. Mon & Arthur went to Jack's in P.M. harvesting. Dean & I were over to Dave's awhile. Arthur & Johnnie walked up town in eve after chores. Happy was here a few minutes in eve. Joan of Arc had an ice cream Social in eve but I didn't get there. Rained hard in the nite.

Sun. July 23
Rained most of A.M. but cleared off in P.M. & was nice. Quite a cool day. Mon & I went over to Dave's early in A.M. We drove our car over to Floyd's & then papa met us with his car on the other side of the bridge & we took him home & then took his car to Decorah. Jack rode up town with us & Artie Mc went to Decorah with us. We spent the day at Price's. Stanley's & Charlie's were home so we had a family reunion. Had a nice dinner. Mrs. Miller was there & helped too. Dean stayed at mamas. We got home about 6:30 & then did up our chores & Mon, Dean & I went over to Happy's. Their baby sure has grown.

Mon. July 24
Dandy nice day. Mon was up to Jacks part of the A.M. They finished harvesting up there this A.M. Arthur worked at the barn in A.M. & they hauled out manure & fixed the barn some more in P.M. I washed & ironed.

Tues. July 25
Dandy nice day. Arthur mowed some in A.M. & they put up some hay in P.M. I did a little of everything. We went up town in eve. Went up to the Pavillion awhile. I stayed in the kitchen. We got home about 12. Walt Jewel rode home with us.

Wed. July 26
Dandy nice day. Quite warm tho'. Arthur mowed hay in A.M. & they put hay in the barn in P.M. Mama was down & spent the day. Papa worked at Brown's so she came here.

Thurs. July 27
Nice day. They folks put the last load of hay in the barn this A.M. early & then hauled manure the rest of the A.M. Merlin Cassel & Arland A. were here all A.M. We went to B.O. in P.M. to the Ball Game between Plymouth & B.O. but Plymouth failed to appear. I spent the P.M. with mama.

Fri. July 28
Nice warm day. Pretty windy. We went over to Fred's awhile in A.M. to see about threshing & Mon took me to Club at Alice S's. in P.M. Quite a crowd out & a dandy lunch. He & the boys came after me & they had lunch there too. Mon, Dean & I went up to Clifford's in eve. John Anderson's were there too.

Sat. July 29
Dandy nice day. Mon threshed at Lovliens. He got home about 4:30. The boys & I did a little of everything. Lester's came down in eve & went to Bluffton with us. Old Time Dance. Frank O'Brien played. Quite a few out. Had a good time. Got home about 2.

Sun. July 30
Pretty hot day. Arthur went over to Johnnie's about 8 A.M. to go fishing. Mon & Dean went up to Jack's early in A.M. awhile. Mon, Dean & I went up home about 11. Lester & the boys were there for dinner too. Arthur came up town in P.M. Isa went to Decorah with Carl R's. Ball game at B.O. in P.M. Canoe & B.O. & B.O. won 6-2. Lesters rode as far as their gate with us. We stopped at Gust's a minute. Arthur went back up town in eve to roller skate.

Mon. July 31
Nice in A.M. but clouded up about 3 P.M. & we surely got a soaker of a rain. Mon was threshing at Fred Walters.

Tues. Aug 1
Pretty warm day. I washed & ironed. Mon & Arthur drove the team to B.O. in A.M. & got kerosene to thresh with. They did a little of everything in P.M. The boys got 10% dividend from the bank today.

Wed. Aug. 2
Pretty cool day. Rained off & on all day & eve. Mon took Jack Whalen to Decorah in P.M. & Dean & I went along. Arthur went to B.O. & got a hair cut.

Thurs. Aug. 3
Cool day again but very nice. Mon went up to Gust's early in A.M. awhile. The boys went over to Isa's in A.M. & stayed for dinner. Mon & I started for Claude's in P.M. & met the boys so Dean went along down there with us too. Got home about 5. Did up the chores & went to B.O. in eve to the dance. Kelly's played & such a jam. No room to dance or anything. We got home about 1. Loyal came home with us.

Fri. Aug. 4
Dandy nice day. Mon threshed at Howards & Freds. The boys & I went to Gust's early in A.M. & helped thresh. Arthur helped Gust in the straw pile. Vera helped Kate too. They finished there a little after two. Kate came down here with us when we came home & helped me dress chickens. We killed 4 & dressed them. Mon & I went up town a minute in eve.

Sat. Aug. 5
Dandy nice day. We threshed here in A.M. Got done about 11:30. Mama & Kate helped me. We got 497 bu. of oats. The folks & Kate went home about 2. The machine went to Harry's from here & they threshed out Harrys & Cliffords in P.M. but Mon & Arthur didn't get home until after 7. Dean was over watching them thresh awhile in P.M. Jack came over just as the folks were going to milk & he helped them milk then the boys went home with him awhile.

Sun. Aug. 6
Nice cool day. We went to Claude's & spent the day. Papa & mama & Lester's were there too. Had a picnic dinner & a good one too. Plenty of blackberries. The men folks went to Glenwood in P.M. to the ball game. B.O. beat Glenwood. We got home about 7. Arthur went to a picnic at McCabe's today & he was home milking when we got home. He went up to watch them roller skate a little while in eve.

Mon. Aug. 7
Dandy nice day only rather warm. Mon & Arthur threshed at Jack Whalen's today. They got home about 4.

Tues. Aug. 8
Dandy day. Pretty hot. Mon went to Gilbert's threshing & the boys & I went up home to wash. Mama & papa went down to Dell's. We got home about 2 & Mon got home just before we did. Arthur went to drive the car in the garage & broke an axle. Mon went to B.O. with Howard in P.M. I ironed some. Arthur went over to Jacks. He & Jack got another rattlesnake.

Wed. Aug. 9
Nice in A.M. but clouded up & sprinkled some at noon. Quite nice in P.M. again. Mon threshed at Dave's in A.M. & I helped Lizzie. Audry & Lizzie Brown helped here too. Dean was over there too. I got home about 2. Arthur hauled manure all day. I picked a bushel of cukes after I got home. Dad P. was up for supper & he took the cukes home with him to sell.

Thurs. Aug. 10
Dandy nice day. Mon threshed at Fred Langs until about 2 P.M. Arthur & Dean hauled manure & then Mon helped them when he got home. Papa & mama were down for supper. They bro't the new axle for the car. Roy Broghammer got it for us. Gust & Kate were down.

Fri. Aug. 11
Dandy day. Mon & the boys fixed the car the first thing this A.M. & then we went to Claude's. Kate R. went along. We helped Olive get ready for Club in A.M. She had a big crowd out to Club. She served little individual blackberry pies & they sure went good. We got home about 6. Johnnie was over in eve awhile.

Sat. Aug. 12
Dandy nice day. Mon & I went to Decorah early in A.M. & the boys took a grist to B.O. We went up to Dad P's. a minute. Got home about 1 & the boys got home about 2. Ole A. was here awhile in P.M. We went to Bluffton in eve to the dance. Oscar Anderson's played. We sure had a good time. Quite a few there. Johnnie went with us. Got home about 2. Pretty cool down there.

Sun. Aug. 13
Nice day but cool. We went over to Lester's & spent the day. Papa, mama, Uncle Aaron, Claude's & Carl's were there too. Picnic dinner. Had a good dinner & a good time. The men folks went to B.O. in P.M. to the Ball game. B.O. beat Hesper. Mon went from there to Plymouth to the Ball game. Plymouth beat Canoe. Some crowd over there he said. The boys & I got home from Lester's about 6 & Mon didn't come home for chores. After chores we went up to the Pavillion & watched them skate. Arthur skated. Quite a crowd up there. Mon was up there & came home with us. Lester's rode home with us too.

Mon. Aug. 14
Dandy nice day. Mon threshed at Dawleys all day. The boys & I went to Floyd's in P.M. to help thresh. They didn't finish until about 8 & it was 8:30 when we got home to do chores. Mon came over after us.

Tues. Aug. 15
Dandy nice day. Arthur & Dean went to B.O. in A.M. Arthur took the mower up & mowed the folks pasture. Mon went up to Gust's in A.M. awhile. The boys got home about 3. It rained quite hard in the nite.

Wed. Aug. 16
Nice day but cooler. Mon & Arthur helped Gust until about 4 P.M. Dean went up to Clifford's awhile in P.M. Buddy & Lola were here for supper. Mon, Dean & I went up town a little while in eve. Went up home a minute. Olive & the kids were there too. Uncle Aaron is staying up to mama's awhile now. A dog bit his finger & he is staying there so mama can help care for it.

Thurs. Aug. 17
Dandy day but rather windy & cool. I washed & ironed. Mon & Arthur hauled manure in A.M. & Mon went to the river with Lovlien's in P.M. Dean rode Nell most of the day. We went up to the Pavillion awhile. The "Little German Band" played. They were good too. Quite a crowd there. We came home about 12. Walt Jewell rode home with us.

Fri. Aug. 18
Dandy nice day. Mon & Arthur fixed fence in A.M. We went over to Floyds awhile after dinner. The men went over to the bridge. They are working on it & have it almost ready for traffic now. Mon & Arthur fixed fence & got corn after we got home. Dean rode horse back most of the day. We picked a lot of cukes this A.M. & sent them down to Dad P. with Walt.

Sat. Aug. 19
Dandy nice day. Mon worked his poll tax today on the south road. Ruth, Francis, Mr. Ferris & Owin Ferris came just as dinner was ready & they stayed until about 4. We sure visited some. Francis isn't hardly able to get around & Mr. Ferris isn't very well either. Mon & I went to Bluffton in eve to the dance. The boys went to bed. Mart, Kate & O'Dean rode down & back with us. Quite a few there & had a good time. Anderson's played. Got home about 2.

Sun. Aug. 20
Looked pretty rainy all day & was quite cool. We were over to Howard's most of the day. Verna is a year old today & they had a party for her. Mike's, Fred's, Harry's & us were there. Johnnie was there too. Had a picnic dinner & supper too. Sure had good eats. Mon went up to Gust's awhile early in A.M. Arthur & Johnnie went roller skating in eve.

Mon. Aug. 21
Nice day. Cloudy part of the time though. Mon & Arthur helped Gust haul gravel down on the place where Lester's live. They are hauling it from Geo. Sullivan's place down on the creek. They hauled one load home in P.M. Dean went with them & came back home at noon. We went up town in eve. Went up home a few minutes. Ruth Coltie & her little girl are there.

Tues. Aug. 22
Pretty warm day. Mon & Arthur hauled gravel for Gust again today. Dean went with them this A.M. & came home at noon. Johnnie Whalen came down & played with Dean this P.M. Dad P. & Sid came up this P.M. & stayed awhile, then went to B.O. & came back for supper & stayed until the chores were done.

Wed. Aug. 23
Pretty hot day. Mon & Arthur helped Gust again today. They were at Lovlien's for L.A.S. supper. They bro't a load of gravel home. Geo & Vera & the boys were down in eve.

Thurs. Aug. 24
Pretty hot day. Looked quite rainy some times but it only sprinkled a little. Dad P. & Warren were up awhile in P.M. Dad got some more cukes. Mon, Dean & I went up home in eve. Johnnie came over & he & Arthur stayed at home.

Fri. Aug. 25
Pretty warm day. The boys & I went up home early in A.M. to wash. We sold 7 head of young beef to Lloyd & Harold R. hauled them. Mon went with him in the truck. Arthur went on to Prosper & got him & then they went to Mabel & got the check cashed $97.75. Big ball game in B.O. in P.M. & we stayed up for that. Bluffton lost to B.O. Big crowd in town. I got a hair cut in P.M. We got home about 6:30.

Sat. Aug. 26
Dandy day. The boys & I went to Decorah early in A.M. Got some oats hulled & got some clothes for the boys. Got a sack of Sunny field flour ($1.87). Got home about 11 had dinner & went to Club at Amalia Smiths, at Lenora, with Vera G. Dorothea Ward drove. Alice Seelye went along too. Big crowd & a dandy lunch. We got back home about 5. Dad & Sid were here in P.M. but didn't stay for supper. Mon & I started for Bluffton in eve to the dance & had a blow out going down the big hill. Howard & Pearl came along & took us to B.O. & got a new tire & tube so we were not so long getting fixed. Went on to the dance. Quite a few there. Pretty cold down there. Got home about 2. Mart, Kate & O'Dean rode home with us.

Sun. Aug. 27
Dandy nice day. Mon & Dean went up to Ole's & over to Happy's early in A.M. Jack came over in A.M. We all went up home for dinner. Ruth & Ruthie are still there. Mon went to Decorah in P.M. to the Ball Game. B.O. & Frankville were the winners of the two leagues so they are playing the world series now. B.O. won 23 or 4 to 5 or 6. The boys were up to the Pavillion in P.M. roller skating. Arthur & Jack walked home but Dean & I waited for Mon. We had supper at mama's & got home about 7.

Mon. Aug. 28
Dandy nice day. Warren & Sid came up about 11 to work at the corn crib. The lumber co. bro't the cement about 3 P.M. so they did part of the cement work this P.M. Dad came up in P.M. Sid had received a telegram calling him to Kansas City so he went back with Dad. Warren went home about 5. We went up town a little while in eve.

Tues. Aug. 29
Nice day. Warren was up again today. Elmer Gilbertson came over early this A.M. & helped finish the cement work & then he got the mixer. Uncle Aaron & Vincel were here all day. Neva came after them about 5. Warren went home about 4:30. Donald was down in P.M. Lizzie was over awhile in eve.

Wed. Aug. 30
Pretty warm day. We went to Cresco to the Fair about 11 A.M. Large crowd there. I got too warm in P.M. early & just about passed out so spent the rest of the P.M. in the car. Went back on the grounds again after the sun went down, but didn't feel very peppy. Didn't see so many I knew although there were quite a few there from around here. Got home about 10:30 and I went right to bed. The folks did their chores & it was about 11:30 when they got to bed.

Thurs. Aug. 31
Dandy nice day, but the dust is awful. Warren was up again today & worked at the crib. We went up town in eve a few minutes. Went up to the Pavillion a few minutes. Kelly's played there again tonite.

Fri. Sept. 1
Dandy day. Pretty warm. Warren was up again today. Donald G. was here all day. Ray Hennings came about 9 A.M. & wanted Mon to go to Mitchell S.Dak. with him so he went. Pretty lonesome here without him. Arthur took the washing up to mamas this A.M. early & he & I went up this P.M. & got the clothes. Isa & the boys were at mamas. Had a little shower in the nite.

Sat. Sept. 2
Pretty hot day. Warren was here again today. Arthur took a grist to B.O. early in A.M. We went over to Dave's awhile in eve. Ate watermelon.

Sun. Sept. 3
Rained hard early in A.M. Cleared off about 10 & was nice the rest of the day. Pretty hot too. The boys & I went up home & spent the day. Went up to the Pavillion a little while in P.M. Got home about 5:30. Played cards until about 9. Mon & Ray came back from Dakota. They got here at 10 P.M. I sure was glad too see them. Mon & I sat up until about 12 talking.

Mon. Sept. 4
Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & looked terribly bad. The wind blew just fierce & it rained quite hard. Warren was here again today. Schools started today. Jack is driving this week. They just went up & registered this A.M. so Arthur was home almost all day. Quite a crowd of Freshmen this year. 13. Maxine started to High today.

Tues. Sept. 5
Pretty warm day. Warren was here again today. We had our first young chicken of the season for dinner today.

Wed. Sept. 6
Hot day. Warren was here again today. I went over to Pearl's in P.M. awhile & helped her peel apples. Mon, Dean & I went up town in eve. Went up home a few minutes. Terrible accident at Wilbur Duprey's this P.M. Two people badly hurt.

Thurs. Sept. 7
Pretty warm day. Mon went over after Marion early this A.M. to help him fix the corn binder. Warren was here again today. Vera & Harry & the little girls were here awhile in eve, also Geo. Vera & Junior.

Fri. Sept. 8
Pretty hot day. Warren was here again today. Marion worked all day at the binder again today. I went to Club at Muriel T's. in P.M. with Vera, Dorothea W. drove & Gladys went along too. Quite a few there & a swell lunch. We went up to Jack's a few minutes in eve.

Sat. Sept. 9
A little cooler today but still plenty warm. Pearl came over in A.M. & I helped her pick the cukes. She got a bushel & a half. We took Marion home about 10:30 A.M. & then went on to B.O. to the big Field's Day. Kitten ball game in A.M. & speech by Congressman Bierman & a Farmer's Union man Mr. White all kinds of races, a ball game between B.O. & Decorah (in which B.O. got beat) in P.M. Mon, Arthur & I went home & did chores & then went back for the eve. Wrestling & Boxing matches until 9 P.M. & then the big dance at which Kelly's played. Not such a large crowd in P.M. but surely a jam in eve. Didn't go in & dance at all. Mama & papa worked at the stand all day & eve from about 11 A.M. on. Claudes & us were up home for dinner. Got our own. Got home about 1:30. Dr. Emmons died very suddenly this noon.

Sun. Sept. 10
Sprinkled in A.M. & rained quite hard in P.M. & eve. Had quite a thunder shower in eve. We went up home in A.M. but came home shortly after dinner. Gust was here awhile in A.M.

Mon. Sept. 11
Rainy in A.M. but quit in P.M. Arthur's week to drive. Did a little of everything.

Tues. Sept. 12
Pretty nice day. Mon cut corn for Jack all day. I washed & ironed & did a little of everything. Dr. Emmons was buried at Decorah this P.M.

Wed. Sept. 13
Rained almost all day. Sometimes quite hard. Mon couldn't cut corn today. Quite a cool day.

Thurs. Sept. 14
Not such a nice day but not too bad. Looked rainy all day. Mon cut corn for Jack today. Mag had a little calf today. Jack was over in eve.

Fri. Sept. 15
Rainy nasty day. Mon went over to Harry's awhile in A.M. The High School kids got home shortly after dinner. Rather cool at school & also on account of some wanting to go to the Fair. Rained hard in the nite.

Sat. Sept. 16
Rained quite hard early in A.M. & then cleared off & was a beautiful day. Rather cool though. The folks did a little of everything in A.M. & picked their first corn in P.M. Mon, Dean & I went to B.O. in eve. Went up home awhile. Olive & the kids, Aunt Lissa & Mettie were there too. Arthur went over to Jack's.

Nice day. Rather cool. We went up home for dinner & spent the P.M. Went down to Aunt Lissa's on our way home & got a few apples. Mon & I went up to Gust's in eve. Jack Whalen & John Fox were there too.

Mon. Sept. 18
Nice cool day. Jack drives to H.S. this week. Mon finished cutting corn for Jack about 3 P.M. He bro't the binder home & then took Jack to Decorah. They got home about 7. Rained quite hard in the nite. Arthur's cow had a calf today.

Tues. Sept. 19
Pretty windy day & cool. Mon cut corn here at home John Fox shocked in Jack's place. Mon, Dean & I went down to Claude's in eve & got some tomatoes. Got home about 10.

Wed. Sept. 20
Cool, windy day. Mon cut corn for Gilbert. John F. finished shocking what corn was cut here at noon. The boys & I went up town a minute after school. Went up to see mama a minute too. Our 17th Wedding Anniversary.

Thurs. Sept. 21
Pretty windy day. Mon cut corn here at home all day. John F. was here shocking corn.

Fri. Sept. 22
Nice day but windy. Mon finished cutting corn this P.M. John F. was here again today.

Sat. Sept. 23
Pretty warm day. Mon, Arthur & John shocked & tied up shocks all A.M. Arthur & John finished shocking about 3 P.M. Mon & Dean went to picking up corn after dinner & when Arthur finished shocking he helped pick up too. Mon, Dean & I went up town in eve. Went up home awhile. Arthur stayed at home. Johnnie was over.

Sun. Sept. 24
Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & sprinkled some. Mon went over & got Marion & bro't him here for dinner. We took him home about 5.

Mon. Sept. 25
Pretty warm day. Cloudy most of the day. Mon cut corn for Clifford Q. He got home about 4:30. Warren & Dad came up this morning & Dad went down Bluffton way getting subscriber's for his paper. Warren worked at the corn crib. Dad came back for supper. Arthur's week to drive. Glen Abrahamson had an accident with his car over by Brayton's this P.M. Lost control of it & went down the bank on the west side south of Brayton's. They took him to the Hospital but Arthur didn't know how badly he was hurt. Found out later he had his jaw broken, some teeth knocked out & was bruised some & that was as bad as it was. Mon & I went up to Jack's a minute in eve. Rained in the nite.

Tues. Sept. 26
Rained most of the day. No H.S. today. They are putting in a new furnace. Arthur & Jack went hunting in P.M. Cleared off late in P.M. & was very nice but cold. Had our first frost but it didn't do any damage.

Wed. Sept. 27
Dandy nice day. The kids went to school but no school today or tomorrow. Mon finished cutting corn here in A.M. & he & John F. shocked & tied it in P.M. Arthur picked up corn in P.M. Warren was up again today. Lizzie was over awhile in P.M. I washed. Arthur, Maxine, Jack & Billie went to B.O. in eve to a H.S. party. Arthur drove.

Thurs. Sept. 28
Rather rainy in A.M. early but cleared off & was nice & the rest of the day. Warren came up again today. Mon & Arthur picked up corn in P.M. Mon & I went over to Brown's in P.M. & got some tomatoes. We went up town in eve awhile. Went up to the Pavilion. Kelly's played. We got home about 11.

Fri. Sept. 29
Dandy day. Mon took the kids to school in A.M. & then went over & got Marion to help him with some work. Mama & papa came down & spent the day. Papa picked seed corn. Mama & I canned tomatoes & did quite a few things. Mon took Marion home after dinner & got Arthur. B.O.H.S. played Basket Ball at Ft. Atkinson but Arthur didn't go. B.O. got beat. Warren was up again today.

Sat. Sept. 30
Not very nice in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day. Pearl was over a minute in A.M. I picked more than a bushel of cukes & she got some & we took the rest of Lizzie Brown. We went up home in A.M. Mon went on to Prosper a little while. We got home about 3:30. Mon dug some potatoes & Dean & I picked up ground cherries. We went up town awhile in eve. Didn't go up home though.

Sun. Oct. 1
Dandy day. Rather cool. Donald came down early in A.M. & he & Dean went hunting all day. Got 3 squirrels. Arthur & I went up town about 10:30 A.M. Went up home for a minute & stayed for dinner. Claude's were there too. We got home about 1:30. Lily & Colonel B. were here awhile in P.M. Mon went hunting in P.M. & got 3 squirrels. Ray Mc came home with Dean & stayed all nite. Jack was over in eve. The white cow had a calf today.

Nice cool day. Mon picked up & hauled up wood in A.M. & picked up corn in P.M. Warren & Dad came up at noon. Warren worked at the crib & Dad went selling his paper. He didn't get back here until about 7. Jack's week to drive.

Tues. Oct. 3
Dandy day. Did a little of everything today. Husked the popcorn. Only got a bushel. Don, Lizzie & Jack were over in eve. Got a sack of flour at Cecils today ($1.75) Four Bells. Arthur drove to school today.

Wed. Oct. 4
Dandy day but cool. Helped Mon get a load of corn in A.M. & then he started plowing in P.M. Will & Vera Dinger were here awhile in P.M.

Thurs. Oct. 5
Nice day. Mon plowed all day. Mon, Dean & I went up town in eve. Went up to the Pavilion awhile. The "Vikings" played. We got home about 11.

Fri. Oct. 6
Nice day but pretty windy. Mon & I picked up corn in A.M. Isa was here a minute at noon. Ole took Gladys, Vera, Elsie & I to Club at Minnie Van Vleits. Large crowd out & a swell lunch. Geo. came & got us.

Sat. Oct. 7
Not such a nice day. Rained off & on. Mon & the boys got corn in A.M. Johnnie was here for dinner & then he & the boys went hunting in P.M. He came over & went to B.O. with us in eve. Went up to the Pavilion awhile. Big Base Ball Dance. Quite a few out. Rained most of the nite I guess. Hadn't got muddy yet though when we came home at 12. Arthur stayed up home all nite.

Sun. Oct. 8
Rained some in A.M. & off & on again all day. We went up home & spent the day. The folks 43rd Wedding Anniversary. Lesters were there too. Had a good time. Took our dinner.

Mon. Oct. 9
Nice day but cool. I washed. Mon went to Gilberts shredding in P.M. Pearl was over awhile in P.M. Arthur's week to drive. Quite a frost tonite.

Tues. Oct. 10
Nice in A.M. but clouded up in P.M. & rained. Cleared off again at nite. Mon went to Gilberts in A.M. & then started to pick up corn in P.M. & it started to rain so he had to quit. I ironed & gathered stuff in from the garden.

Wed. Oct. 11
Dandy nice day but cool. Mon & I went to Claude's early in A.M. to help shred & didn't get home until about 6:30. Mama was down there & helped too. Ed Dawley's shredder & Gilbert's tractor. I sure works fine. Johnnie drove today. Basket Ball game at Ossian but Arthur didn't go. Johnnie was over in eve. Froze again tonite.

Thurs. Oct. 12
Dandy nice cool day. We went to Claude's again early this A.M. They finished shredding about 11. We took mama home. Stopped at Gust's a minute on our way home. Did up some things here & then we went out & got a jag of corn. Mr. & Mrs. Henry Hilleman were here awhile in P.M. Johnnie drove to school today. He came over in eve & went to B.O. with us. Gust went with us too. Didn't go up to the Pavilion. Froze ice tonite.

Fri. Oct. 13
Dandy cool day. Arthur drove today. On went to Ray Hennings to shred in P.M. He went with Gust. He got home about 7.

Sat. Oct. 14
Pretty warm day. Mon shredded at Ray's today. The boys & I picked a load of corn in P.M. Went up town in eve. I went up home. Olive & the kids were there. We got home about 11:30.

Rained almost all day. Sometimes quite hard. We were alone all day & eve.

Mon. Oct. 16
Cold windy day. Rained of & on all day. We got a load of corn in P.M. & then Mon went out about 3:30 to plow. He plowed then until dark. Jack's week to drive.

Tues. Oct. 17
Quite a nice day but cool & windy. Mon shredded at Ray's. They finished there tonite. Geo., Vera, Harold, Dorothy, & Gordon (?P.?) & Dorothea W. were here & spent the eve. We girls were the menu com. for the Oyster supper. They stayed until after 12. Arthur went over to Jack's in eve. Sid came up today & worked at the house. It sure froze hard tonite. Froze the ground some.

Wed. Oct. 18
Nice day but windy & cool. Sid was up again today. Mon helped him some. Dave came over in P.M. & helped them butcher. I went over to Pearls to the Lutheran L.A.S. dinner. Not many there but they sure had a fine dinner. We went up to Gust's in eve & then on to B.O. They went with us. Dean & I went up home a minute. Arthur didn't go up town with us.

Thurs. Oct. 19
Cold, windy, cloudy day. Sid was up again today. Mon helped him part of the time but he had to see about his shredding help & go to town & other things. Howard was over a minute in eve. They bro't the shredder here tonite. Went up to Cliffords a few minutes in eve. Arthur stayed at home. Ed Dawley stayed here tonite. His shredder & Gilberts tractor.

Fri. Oct. 20
Cloudy, gloomy, windy day. We shredded corn here today. Went fine in A.M. but not so good in P.M. too dry. Mama & Olive helped me. We took mama home in eve. Ed stayed here again tonite. Rained some in the nite.

Sat. Oct. 21
Nice day. We finished shredding at noon & they went to Howard's. Mama & Olive helped me again today. Olive bro't the kids so they all had a big time. Arthur took mama home after dinner & then he went over to Howards to help shred. I helped Pearl. Eda Walter was there awhile too. We didn't go to town in eve. Jack was over in eve.

Sun. Oct. 22
Nice day. Dean went hunting in A.M. & didn't get back until about supper time. Warren P., Mrs. Korshrud & Bork were here a few minutes in P.M. Mama & papa came down about 4 & stayed for supper. Arthur & Jack went to B.O. in eve & Dean & I went up to George's.

Mon. Oct. 23
Cloudy windy day. Mon was at Dave's shredding all day. I washed & ironed some. Arthur's week to drive. Howard was here in eve.

Tues. Oct. 24
Terribly windy day & cold. North wind. Warren came up & worked on the house all day. Mon shredded at Fred Walters until about 2 P.M. They broke down so he came home & got a load of wood & a jag of corn. Froze hard tonite.

Wed. Oct. 25
Another windy day, but the wind wasn't so bad. Mon shredded at Fred's all day. They finished late. Warren was here part of the day. I went over to Lizzie's a few minutes after school. Mon, Dean & I went up to Gust's in eve & then Mon took Gust to town & Dean & I went to Lester's. Lester cut Dean's hair. We got home about 10:30. Jack's last day of school.

Thurs. Oct. 26
Not very nice day. Mon shredded at Gust's all day. Warren didn't come up. Mon & I went up town in eve a few minutes.

Fri. Oct. 27
Cold day but a little brighter. Mon took a load of wood up home about noon. He got home about 2:30 & so did Arthur. B.O. played basket ball at Ridgeway & he didn't go. They picked a load of corn in P.M. Lizzie & Maxine came over in eve & went up to the school house with us. They had a Halloween Program. Quite a few out. It was good & they had a nice lunch. Dad P. was here for supper. Snowed tonite so the ground was white.

Sat. Oct. 28
Quite a bit warmer but rather cloudy. Warren was up & worked until noon. Arthur took me to B.O. about 2 P.M. & then he came back home & helped get a load of corn. Got a sack of "Larabee's Best" flour $1.90. The Joan of Arc had their annual Oyster Supper tonite. Very large crowd out. Took in over $43. Elsie, Miriam & I cooked the oysters. Didn't have enough either. We got home about 10:30. Johnnie Wernett & his grandma went back to California today.

Dandy day. Quite warm. We went up home & spent the day. Lester's are moving to B.O. today so they were there for dinner too. Carl, Hazel & the kids were there in P.M. too. Mon & I went over to Happy's in eve, but he wasn't home. He was out hunting. Mary had a calf today.

Beautiful day. Pretty warm. Mon plowed all day.

Tues. Oct. 31
Beautiful warm day. Just like summer. Mon plowed in A.M. We got a load of corn in P.M. & then he plowed after that until dark. Warren was here today & worked at the house. Went to B.O. in eve. Maxine, Billie & Rodney Murdock went with us. The Freshmen were initiated tonite. I went up home & spent the eve. We got home about 11:30.

Beautiful day. Warren was here working on the house. Mon plowed all day. Little son born to Gladys & Floyd Arnold today.

Thurs. Nov. 2
Much colder & cloudy today. Snowed quite hard about noon. Mon plowed in A.M. but didn't go out in P.M. Harry Q. was here awhile in P.M. I did part of my washing today. Cleared off late in P.M. & was very nice, but cold. Froze hard tonite. Billie drove to school today.

Fri. Nov. 3
Nice day, but cool. I finished washing in A.M. & ironed too. Mon husked corn in A.M. & we picked a load in P.M. Club at Miriam's but I had no way to go. Last Basket Ball game of the B.O.H.S. season at B.O. this P.M. Ft. Atkinson played them. The boys won but the girls got froze out. We went to B.O. in eve to a show. It sure was fine. Large crowd out. "Just Plain Jimmie" Blanche Rollins Phillips & her troupe. Got home about 11:30.

Sat. Nov. 4
Not very nice day. Cloudy & damp & chilly. We sold a load of hogs to Lloyd K. & Harold R. hauled them. 8 old sows weighed 2620 lbs. @ $2.90 cwt & 6 shoats weighed 1610 @ $3.40 cwt. Brought $128.20 after the hauling was out. Arthur took Mon to Mabel to get the check cashed & Dean & I stayed at mama's. They got back to B.O. about 2 & then we came home & got ready & went to Decorah. I got a new pair of slippers $4.00 got Arthur new underclothes $2.78, Dean a lined jacket .98. Mon a pr. of overalls $1.49 & several smaller articles. We went up town in eve. Went up home awhile. Isa & the boys were there. Went in to Eva's awhile after I got back down town. Olive & the kids were there.

Sun. Nov. 5
Snowed most of the day. Dave was over awhile in A.M. We were alone the rest of the day & eve.

Mon. Nov. 6
Rather cold day. Mon plowed until about 3:30. Nell got sick & he had to quit plowing. He went over to Dave's & got some medicine & bro't her out all right.

Tues. Nov. 7
Cold windy day. Warren was here working at the house today. Mon went over to Dave's in A.M. & also over to Gilbert's.

Wed. Nov. 8
Not so cold but cloudy. Warren was here again today. Mon took the kids to school in A.M. & got a piece of the separator fixed at B.O. He got home about 10 & then took a load of wood up home. I went with him as far as Floyd's, when he went after the kids in P.M. & stopped too see the new baby. He sure is a nice big boy.

Thurs. Nov. 9
Cold, windy blizzardy day. Mon filled the cellar way & banked the house & did quite a few jobs like that. Mrs. K., Vera G., Arthur S. & Philip S. came here about 1 & we practiced & then we went to Bluffton & sang for Jim Murdock Sr.'s funeral. We sang "Some Day the Silver Cord Will Break", "Abide With Me", & "Rock of Ages". Quite a crowd out the funeral & such pretty flowers. We got home about 2. The parents were invited to visit the schools today but on account of the funeral I couldn't go to our home school or High School either.

Fri. Nov. 10
Snowed some & the sun shone some. Some warmer. Mon shredded at Gilbertson's today. We went up town in eve to the Play at the Hall. It sure was good. "The Master Thief." Maxine & Bill went with us. Got home about 11.

Sat. Nov. 11
Not very nice day. Mon shredded at Happy's. He didn't get home very early & didn't feel very well when he got here. The boys did a little of everything. Made some ice cream. The brown cow had a calf.

Sun. Nov. 12
Not very nice day. Terrible wind & dust storm all P.M. Could hardly see or breathe out doors. The boys took me up home early in A.M. & then they & Mon went down to Dell's & got a couple of our little calves that had gotten over there with his cattle. They came up home for dinner then. We came home about 4:30. Wind blew hard all nite. Snowed some in eve.

Cloudy, cold, windy day. Snowed some in P.M. Mon put the storm windows on today & got the separator in the house.

Tues. Nov. 14
Mighty windy cold day. Sun shone most of the day though. Billie drove today & the kids rode with him. Mon shredded at Geo. G's.

Wed. Nov. 15
Pretty cold blustery windy day. I went with the kids this A.M. up home & did my washing. Isa was there all day too & Leonard was there for dinner. Papa is at Albert Lea working & Leonard is staying with mama.

Thurs. Nov. 16
Windy cold day. Mon hauled a load of wood up home in A.M. & didn't get back until about 2. I ironed & did a little of everything.

Fri. Nov. 17
Pretty nice day. Mon husked corn. I walked up town after dinner. Ella R. entertained Club at Mae's. Large crowd out & we sure had a dandy lunch. I rode home with the kids. We went up town in eve to the show. It sure was good & they had a hall full. Maxine went with us.

Sat. Nov. 18
Dandy day. Mon shredded at Geo's. Arthur walked up home in A.M. & stayed until about 4. Dean went up to Geo's in P.M. Mon, Dean & I went up town in eve. I went up home & spent the eve. Dean stayed with mama all nite. Papa came home after we left.

Sun. Nov. 19
Beautiful day. Mon & Arthur went over to Happy's in A.M. & then when they came home we went up home for dinner. Dean came home with us in P.M.

Mon. Nov. 20
Beautiful day. I helped Mon husk corn in A.M. but stayed at the house in P.M. & dressed chicken & did other things.

Tues. Nov. 21
Cold, windy, cloudy day. Warren was here & worked on the house all day. I helped Mon husk corn until about 10 & then came in & got dinner. Helped husk again in P.M.

Wed. Nov. 22
Nicer day than yesterday. Mon husked corn all day. I helped in P.M.

Thurs. Nov. 23
Cloudy cool windy day. We husked corn all day. B.O.H.S. went to Decorah in P.M. to a Basket Ball Tournament. B.O. played in P.M. & eve. They won in P.M. but lost in eve. Arthur took a load. He didn't get home until almost 12. Snowed a little in the nite.

Fri. Nov. 24
Quite a nice day. The sun shone most of the day. We husked corn again today. I came in about 3 P.M. Mart Leonhart gave us a coon & I came in & roasted that for supper. Dad P. was here a minute in P.M. We went to B.O. in eve to the Play. "Miss U.S.A." It sure was good. There wasn't room in the Hall for the crowd. The Joan of Arc had a food sale this P.M. & eve. Took in $10.12.

Sat. Nov. 25
Not very nice day. Sprinkled off & on all day. In late P.M. the wind blew terribly hard & the dust too. Turned into a blizzard in eve. Mon & Arthur finished husking corn & then they picked up some too.

Not such a bad day. We went up to Isa's for dinner. Claude's & mama were there too. Papa didn't come home this week. We sure had a dandy dinner. Duck & fixings. Mon & I went over to Daves in eve.

Beautiful day. I went with the kids in A.M. up to mama's to wash. Had a big wash too. Arthur came up there for dinner. Olive & Isa were both there in P.M. Mon finished picking up the corn today.

Tues. Nov. 28
Nice day. Mon hauled up wood all day. I did a little of everything.

Wed. Nov. 29
Not such a nice day. Rained some in A.M. but cleared off in P.M. & was nice. Ed Dawley sawed wood for us. Got home about 11:30. Just some old junk Mon gathered up. Geo. Coombs helped Ed & Gust. Howard & Harry helped Mon. Pearl & Verna were over for dinner & then I went home with her to help her get ready for saw men but they were thro' there about 4 so didn't have them for supper. We went up town in eve. I went up home. Mon got a hair cut. Happy bro't us a coon this eve.

Thurs. Nov. 30
Thanksgiving Day. Beautiful day. Nice & warm. The boys walked up home in A.M. so Mon & I were alone for dinner. Papa got home from his work about noon & he bro't the boys home in P.M. Loyal came down & stayed over nite here. We had a coon supper. Maxine & Lizzie were over & spent the eve. Mon went up town awhile. Little son born to Vera & Harry Quandahl this P.M.

Fri. Dec. 1
Nice day. We had our Thanksgiving Dinner up home today. Claude's, Lester's & us. Sure had a good dinner. We got home about 4:30. Did up the chores & went back up town to the show. "The Easy Mark." It was good. Dean stayed up home in P.M. & came home with us in eve.

Sat. Dec. 2
Rainy, misty day. Donald, Dean & James Nelson went hunting in A.M. & didn't get back until about 1:30. Mon, Arthur & I went up town about 2 P.M. Agnes W. had Club at the Lutheran Church. Quite a crowd out & she sure had a dandy lunch. We got home about 4:30.

Not very nice day. Cloudy & damp. Dean rode Nell around all day. He was up home for dinner. We were alone all day & eve.

Cold, windy day. Mon finished hauling the folks wood to them this A.M.

Nice day. Warmer again. Mon started chopping wood today. He bought an acre of "Happy" & is cutting that. Dad P. was here for dinner. Pearl was here a few minutes in P.M. Mon was over there awhile in eve. Mrs. (?S---?) Richards died this P.M.

Not such a nice day. Cloudy. Mon chopped wood all day. The roan cow had a calf.

Fri. Dec. 8
Nice day, but quite cold. Mon was in the woods. I washed in A.M. Pearl was here a minute in A.M. I went to B.O. in P.M. with Fred Walters to Mrs. Richards funeral at the Lutheran church. Large crowd out. Beautiful flowers. We went to B.O. in eve to the show. Large crowd. Best they have had yet. "The Heart of Peggy".

Sat. Dec. 9
Not so nice in A.M. but cleared off & was nice in P.M. Mon chopped wood & Dean went with him. Arthur & I took some old hens to Decorah in A.M. Got back about 1. Uncle Aaron & Uncle Geo. were here in P.M. We went up town in eve.

Sun. Dec. 10
Not very nice day. Wind came up & blowed hard in P.M. & eve. Got much colder. Mon, Dean & I went up home for dinner. Arthur stayed at home. Dave was here in A.M.

Mon. Dec. 11
Mighty cold day. Dean didn't have to go to school. Teachers Institute. Mon went to the woods in PM. Dean went riding Nell. Billie was sick & didn't go with the kids.

Tues. Dec. 12
Not very nice day. Cold & raw. Mon went to the woods. Billie didn't go to school today either. Arthur, Dean & I went to B.O. in eve with Lizzie, Maxine & Chas. W. The B.O.H.S. had 2 one act plays & the grade school had a program too (at the Hall). It was all good. We all laughed at Loyal. Quite a crowd out.

Wed. Dec. 13
Quite a nice day. Much warmer. Mon went to the woods. Billie went back to school today.

Thurs. Dec. 14
Not very nice day. Mon chopped wood. Didn't do much. Rained in eve.

Fri. Dec. 15
Not very nice day. Everything covered with ice. Pretty slippery. Mon took the kids to school in A.M. He took me to B.O. in P.M. & I went to Club at Ferns with Mae. She took a big load too. Quite a few out. Election of officers. Ella R. Pres. Iona M. V. Pres., Ruth G. Sec. Luella Y. Asst. Sec. Alice D. Treas. We sure had a dandy lunch too. Got home about 4:30. Did up the chores & went back to B.O. to the Play in eve. "Rooms for Tourists." It was sure good. Harold Seelye was here awhile in A.M.

Sat. Dec. 16
Not such a nice day. Sun shone some though & thawed off most of the ice. Mon & the boys did a little of everything. Mart Leonhart was here & dehorned calves in P.M. Mon, Dean & I went up town in eve. I went up to Myra S's. to practice for Xmas.

Sun. Dec. 17
Cold windy day. Audry & Harold & Delores were here & spent the day. The men went out in the woods hunting in P.M. Dean, Dale & Arland got a Xmas tree for the school house today. Geo, Vera & the boys were down in eve.

Mon. Dec. 18
Dandy nice day. Mon was at the woods. Papa came down & helped him today. I washed & ironed.

Tues. Dec. 19
Dandy day. Mon was at the woods. Papa helped him. I did a little of everything. We went up town in eve. I went up to Myra's to practice for Xmas.

Wed. Dec. 20
Not so nice in A.M. but cleared off & was a nice day only the wind blew pretty hard. I washed curtains & some other things today. Got them ironed & up again.

Thurs. Dec. 21
Not such a nice day. Colder. Papa & Mon were in the woods today. Arthur & I took 4 of his pigs to Prosper to sell them this A.M. but they wouldn't take one so we brought her back home & then we went to Decorah. Isa went along. Arthur got some new clothes. Went up to Dad P's. a minute. Got back to mama's about 3. Arthur went to school then. We went back up town in eve. I went to Myra's to practice. Filled the socks with candy & nuts for the Xmas tree too. Arthur's pigs averaged 210 lbs. & he got $2.60 cwt for them. $16.50.

Fri. Dec. 22
Quite a nice day. Mon & papa were in the woods. I went to visit Dean's school in P.M. They had their Xmas tree. Teacher was sick so Ruth K. taught. Vera G. & Ida Q. were there too. Last day of Dean's & Arthur's school for a week. Xmas vacation. We went to B.O. in eve to the show. Maxine went with us. "Ten Nights In a Bar Room". So many wanted to see the play, they put on two shows. We didn't get there in time for the first show, so it was rather late when we got home. Sure some crowd in B.O. tonite. It was sure good. Last play for awhile.

Sat. Dec. 23
Not very nice day. Cloudy & misty. Not so cold tho'. Mon, the boys & papa were in the woods. Sid was here in few minutes in P.M. We went to B.O. in eve. Pretty slippery. Xmas Program & Tree at the M.E. church. Had quite a large show. Sang songs we sang 19 to 22 years ago. They sure had a dandy program. Large crowd out. Snowed in the nite.

Sun. Dec. 24
Pretty cold & windy. Regular blizzard at times, only not so much snow. Made Xmas candy today. Mon was over to Howards late in P.M. Harry Q. was here & spent the eve.

Mon. Dec. 25
Xmas Day. Pretty cold day. Coldest we have had. Cloudy & snowy. We walked up home for dinner & Lester's were there too. Harry Q. was up town & he bro't us home. We couldn't get our car started.

Tues. Dec. 26
Cold, windy day. Didn't do much of anything but stay by the stove. Mon went after the mail about noon.

Wed. Dec. 27
Pretty cold day. Didn't do much of anything. Mon & Arthur worked at the car trying to get it started.

Thurs. Dec. 28
Pretty cold day. Mon & Arthur worked at the car to get it started but wouldn't so when Walt came after the cream he hauled them aways & they got it started so we went to B.O. awhile. I went up home. Olive & the kids & Isa & her boys were there too.

Fri. Dec. 29
Cloudy day, somewhat warmer, but pretty raw. Mon, Dean & I went over to Harry L's. awhile in P.M. & then stopped at Harold's awhile on our way home. The baby is sure cute. Mae W. was there too. Club Dance at B.O. tonite. We didn't go. Ray Snell died this A.M.

Sat. Dec. 30
Misty, foggy day. Lots warmer. Thawed most of the snow off. We went to B.O. in A.M. Went up home for dinner. Lizzie went up town with us. She went to Sam's.

Sun. Dec. 31
Nasty, drizzly day. Didn't do much of anything. Ray Snell was buried this P.M. Quite muddy today. It froze hard tonite.
